Lao Tzu
. I learned about Lao Tzu and Confucius theory on Servant Leadership. I also learned how they
connected ancient Asian culture to the theory. I also learned that the sixth and fifth century B.C.E was
a transition period for China. I also learned how Lao Tzu used poetry to express his thoughts on
leadership. The reading also taught me Lao Tzu nearly gave up after becoming discouraged. Yet, he
pushed on and became an influential man. 2. I strongly agree with the concepts presented in number
seventeen. Tzu s theory is similar to my own philosophy of leadership. I also believe that it is
favorable for a leader s followers to be glorified, rather than himself. A quote I agree with is: leader is
best when people barely know that he exists. I agree

Lungworm Research Paper
Angiostrongylus vasorum is the scientific name for the parasite we call the lungworm. If these tiny
worms go undetected, the dog will die. They are also skinny and pink, and around 14 to 20 millimeters
long .Found not just in dogs but also the red fox, african desert fox, crab eating zorro, horay fox and
finally the dog. The general life cycle of a lungworm begins with an ingestion of infective larvae. The
infective larvae then penetrate the intestinal wall . From here larvae migrate into the lungs through the
bloodstream. The infected larvae reside in the lungs until the development into an adult lungworm It
changes behavior of the dog. The animal can start having breathing problems, poor blood clotting, and
general sickness. Because the

Rationale In The Little Trampe
Rationale
Modern Times is a commentary on human survival in the economic, political, industrial and social
lifestyle of the 20th century society and remains as relevant, for the 21st century too. The problems
The Tramp highlights through the use of comedy are unemployment, poverty, drugs, strikes, riots,
inhumanity in the workplace are still clearly evident in the current society. The main aspect that this
movie analysis focuses on is the effect of Charlie Chaplin s environment on his character of The Little
Tramp. Throughout the movie, the Tramp can be seen performing all his jobs very mechanically and
meaninglessly. He remains naïve about his surroundings which can be compared to situation of people
in the 21st century wherein tasks are performed without thinking. Machines seem to replacing men
rather than assisting the men. The plot is very important in accentuating and unfolding the character of
a modern life style.
Analysis
The film s opening title The story of industry, of individual enterprise humanity crusading in the
pursuit of happiness is followed by a symbolic image of a flood of men and women flowing out of the
subway station similar to the rows of sheep. From this we can easily understand how like sheep, these
herds of men and women do as they are told and flow into the city s ... Show more content on

The Communication Problems That Endanger Marriage Can t...
Communication is usually the most important aspect of trying to understand something or someone. It
is important to convey a message clearly; otherwise the words can be interpreted differently.
Interpretation can give off positivity or negativity because it depends on the way the other side
receives it. There are various languages, but in those languages something can mean differently than
what it signifies in English. There are different types of communication and the way words come out
rely on the tone. It is not only words that are a barrier, but it is also behavior and style. The effects of
communication create discrepancy amongst people by lack of understanding, wrong body language,
and frustration. Lack of understanding becomes a major component for something not working out.
Deborah Tannen in Sex, Lies and Conversation mentioned that the communication problems that
endanger marriage can t be fixed... (278). The main problem between relationship is communication.
Boyfriends and girlfriends breakup because they do no talk to each other and think space will fix
everything. Space does not always work because there is no communication at all. Majority of reasons
that couples get a divorce is because they do not understand their significant other. Trying to
communicate becomes hard because the couple is not used to communicating in the first place and
both have different ways of conversing. Not understanding the other creates distance, which makes the
couple decide that

Negative Effects Of Music
Music can impact the lives of people drastically. Listening to music can affect your mood. Good music
and a nice long night drive can make the experience better. Sad music has an opposite effect, it brings
people down. For example a song that brings joy and happiness would be Don t Threaten Me with a
Good Time by Panic! at the Disco. A sentimental song would be See You Again by Wiz Khalifa.
Lastly The Memory by Mayday Parade would make anyone sad or a bit down. Imagine listening to a
song that everyone in the car knows the lyrics so you all sing along having a total blast. This song can
bring back some happy and fun times, being young and dumb. A song that reminds me of a moment
like this would have to be Don t Threaten Me with a Good Time by Panic! At the Disco. The song
talks about waking up after a party and not knowing what happen. A little into the song, it mentions
you shoulda seen what I wore I had a cane and a party hat I was king of the hologram where there s no
such thing as getting out of hand memories tend to just pop up . When you re having fun you tend to
believe that you look good and you can do whatever because most people don t think when they re
like this. Therefore it ends up with them not remembering much, but little memories. This is one of the
songs my friends and I listen to when we re in the car, and yes we all sing to it and have fun. Songs
like this can make people do things they normally wouldn t do, whether it s good or bad. It s

Pros And Cons Of Health Care Reform
Introduction: The topic of discussion is the fairness of an individual mandated to purchase health
insurance. It was one of the most argumentative subjects in U.S. politics: the federal health care law s
requirement that everybody has health insurance or pays a fine. Supporters of this debate, argue that it
s fundamental to make health care more affordable and available to everyone.
Those against the mandate say a law that forces people to purchase anything, as well as health
insurance, disturbs promises of personal freedom protected by the Constitution. Opponents say, it also
makes health care more expensive and ineffective.
Reconstructions of Arguments:
A. It is the conclusion of Karen Davenport that it is the key to reform. Should everyone ... Show more

In the second article, Michael F. Cannon argues no: premiums will rise according to his article asking
should everyone be required to have health insurance. He even tells us if the mandate were
constitutional; it would still be a bad idea. Some of his reasoning s for this is not a good plan is that
the mandate will increase premiums. The mandate s greatest fabrication is the idea that it promotes
personal responsibility. He explains that supporters want a mandate so it can keep them from being
responsible. Here s how this will happen, by the federal law promotion of irresponsibility by allowing
healthy people to wait until they get sick to buy coverage. He argues this is selfishness forcing others
to bear the cost of ones decision.
I believe in the importance for each American to have the option for health insurance. As a nurse, I
have seen many cases of people that did not seek medical attention due to they could not afford health
care. I believe that I should support article #1 in regards to health care and it should be available and
affordable to all citizens. The Affordable Care Act is meant to address a lack of access and high costs.
The requirement of health insurance is not only fair, but it is desperately

Characteristics Of Pat Tillman
Amongst the qualities a hero should have, I would include determination, loyalty, courage,
perseverance, patience, focus, intrepidity and selflessness. This quote from Ricky Martin perfectly fits
Pat Tillman, past Army veteran and NFL player. Pat Tillman was born on November 6, 1976 in
Fremont, California. He went to Leland High School and played for their football. After he graduated
high school, Tillman went to Arizona State University for college and played for their football team as
well. Soon after he graduated, he got drafted into the NFL, playing for the Arizona Cardinals. In 2002
Tillman enlisted himself into the United States army to help fight after the 9/11 attacks. But he sadly
passed away because of friendly fire on April 22, 2004. Pat Tillman was a man with many amazing
qualities: determination, loyalty, and humble/selfless.
Pat Tillman is remembered as a man with many amazing qualities, but I think the one he remembered
most for is his determination. He showed this even when he was just a high school freshman because
after he was cut from the team, he said he would play and he didn t want to just play baseball and he
didn t. He ended up playing on the varsity football team for his high school. He also showed that he
was determined when anyone said he couldn t do something or he shouldn t do something, he did it
anyway and continued to do what he wanted. Tillman, even playing football, focussed on his
education because he wanted to graduate and ended up

Healthcare facilities are very active institutions. Each part must be functioning correctly, from delivery
systems and issues of Managed Care and Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS), to the
National Quality Forum (NQF). These different parts of healthcare facilities are constantly dealing
with many different situations that arise. Sometimes circumstances that should not take place occur.
These types of circumstances are known as Never Events. As these events rise in number, the safety of
patients is decreased; this forces the healthcare facility to find new and improved ways to ensure the
safety of patients and reduce medical errors. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
It is important that their knowledge of these events is raised so that in the unfortunate event of their
falling victim to such an occurrence, they know exactly what type of action to take. The increased
awareness of patients leads to two problems that healthcare organizations must face. The first
problem: the patients trust and engagement of these never events would never have came about if it
were not for the negative publicity that comes from such an event happening. If a never event either
happens to a patient or in a hospital that the patient goes to, then that patient would have less trust
towards the healthcare facility overall. The one thing that healthcare organizations need is their
patients trust. The second problem: insurers are beginning to hold healthcare facilities financially
responsible for never events (Ozan Rafferty). As a result, physicians and hospitals have to pay for the
care they provided, in addition to the errors that they encountered. If the insurers do this, it would
bring the downfall of the entire hospital because there would be so much expenses that the healthcare
facilities have to pay that it may not be able to pay for most of the debts that they have in the facilities.
Motivating hospitals to ensure proper policy is followed can lead to a reduction on spending every
year due to medical errors. Holding healthcare facilities responsible for

Introduction
The term volcano can either mean the vent from which magma erupts to the surface, or it can refer to
the landform created by the solidified lava and fragmental volcanic debris that accumulate near the
vent. One could say, for example, that large lava flows are erupted from Kilauea volcano in Hawaii,

Pelean eruptions are similar to vulcanian eruptions but have even more viscous lava; domes from over
the vents, and ash flows commonly accompany the dome fountais. Plinian eruptions, also known as
Vesuvian eruptions , are volcanic eruptions marked by their similarity to the eruption of Mount
Vesuvius in AD 79 (as described in a letter written by Pliny the Younger, and which killed his uncle
Pliny the Elder). Plinian eruptions are marked by columns of gas and volcanic ash extending high into
the stratosphere, a high layer of the atmosphere. The key characteristics are ejection of large amount
of pumice and very powerful continuous gas blast eruptions.
Risks
Volcanoes release volcanic hazards that may cause the life of human kind to be in danger. These
volcanic hazards are Pyroclastic Density Currents (pyroclastic flows and surges), Lahars, Structural
Collapse: Debris flow Avalanches, Dome Collapse and the formation of pyroclastic flows and surges,
Lava flows, Tephra fall and ballistic projectiles, volcanic gas, Tsunamis and Volcanic Lightning
Pyroclastic density currents are are gravity driven, rapidly moving, ground hugging mixtures of rock
fragments and hot gases. This mixture forms a dense fluid that moves along the ground with an upper
part that is less dense as particles fall toward the ground. The behavior of the fluid depends upon the
solids

Antony And Cleopatra Relationship Essay
The relationship between Antony and Cleopatra is something we can only speculate about after
analysing the writings from ancient history. The main written accounts of the couple come primarily
from Roman writers, therefore are largely based on the cultural, political and possibly personal beliefs
of the individuals who wrote them.
An important similarity between the two passages would be that both were originally written in the
early part of the second century CE, more than 150 years after the events took place (Fear, 2008, p. 9).
This highlights the fact that we cannot take the information in these passages as true historical fact but
rather the opinion of two Roman citizens whose preconceptions of Antony and Cleopatra have been
formed ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
by saying that Antony is living a life of royal luxury and pampers himself like a woman.
In Plutarch s extract, the fault seems to lie upon Antony and his own moral failings. It shows his
weakness in how he reacted to the emotional blackmail and manipulation by Cleopatra. If we take a
closer look at Reading 1.1, it poses very sexist views of women. Much more emphasis is put on stating
that a woman had done this to Antony and that he has been enslaved by her , taking away his control
in the situation.
In the end, both extracts show that toxic relationship of Antony and Cleopatra was the downfall of
their political careers and ultimately cost them both their lives. By studying these historical texts, we
see an example of how our own opinions and ideas play a part in how the reputations of people in
history are created. Undoubtedly the account of Cleopatra and Antony will continue to evolve over
time.
At first glance, these two paintings seem very different to look at. It s clear that they are of the same
genre of still life however the composition, colour range and possible meanings behind the artwork
themselves, greatly differ.
One of the most important differences would be the tonal range used in the two paintings. If we look
at the Moillon painting, the tone appears quite wide, going drastically from dark to light as we see in
the very dark background to the very light table top and oranges. This contrasts with Cézanne s work,
as he

New And Destructive Gun
I have read the Tennessean from August 2010. I found some interesting articles throughout it. I was
limitedly interested when I read the main headline, Suffrage Amendment Adopted by House. Then I
went on to reading the article, Weekend Golf Tourney Honors Vet Ted Rhodes. It caught my attention
because my dad is a veteran. Lastly, I found the article titled, New and Destructive Gun very
interesting to read about. These three articles all hold different historical value. ????
The first one I looked was the Suffrage Amendment Adopted by House. This appeared in the

Ruined Me Changes
Yes, you read the title correctly. Yoga has ruined my life. It has changed and shifted me from the
inside out. The way I think, speak, and even the way I eat and breathe is totally different because of
yoga. Yoga has changed just about everything about me, but it has ruined me in three big ways:
1. Response versus Reaction
There was a time in my life that I didn t really think about things. I didn t think before I spoke. I didn t
think before I made big decisions, like what colleges to apply for. I didn t really question anything
either. I was OK with whatever life path I was on. I was OK with the mean boys I dated and the
clothes I wore. I rarely ever took a moment to wonder if the activities and people I was engaging were
harmful or careless. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
It was all about me (sometimes it kind of still, is to be honest). I didn t care if I hurt your feelings. I
thought volunteering was for nerds. I always satisfied my own pleasures. I would lie and manipulate
to get my way (OK, Mom, I admitted it, are you happy now?!). I wouldn t return favors. I used people.
And then... The darn yoga. Yoga kicked and scratched and bruised my ego. It put me in my place on
more than on occasion and force fed me some humble pie. It made me care about other people. Yoga
led me to Kula for Karma, and then I realized how important seva and volunteering are. Now I can t
imagine a life without them. As mentioned earlier, it made me think before I spoke... And in those
thoughts, other people s feelings and circumstances came up. I found myself forgiving people and
praying for people rather than threatening people and pulling hair. Now I want other people to feel
good. I don t lie.... As much. I don t think I m manipulative anymore (but my mom will have to
confirm that). Now I m a favor giving queen, and a lot of the time I really, really don t expect anything
in return. I m apologetic. I m kind ish. Not only to other people, but to

Essay on Parson s Chameleon
Parson s Chameleon
Strategy is a term used in the business world when a firm has a planned process in which it wants to
set out and accomplish its goals. There are numerous definitions for strategy but each definition is
different and valid in certain circumstances. Therefore, strategy is something that cannot be defined
easily. However, what is clear is that strategy is used not just in the business world. Survival of a
species relies heavily on strategy. For a human or an animal to survive they must grow and evolve
with the world around them. A species that does not adapt with to its habitat is the species that will
struggle to survive and often become extinct. The Parson s chameleon is an example of an animal that

Most of the chameleons live in high up in the trees out of sight of several predators.
The Parson s chameleon is found on the eastern coast of Madagascar in one of the islands many dense
tropical rainforests. The rainforests of Madagascar are known for its high canopies consisting of a
dense ceiling of leaves and branches formed by the closely spaced evergreen trees. (Butler, 2013)
These high canopies of dense leaves and bra2nches offer the Parson s chameleon the perfect habitat to
live with protection from ground based predators and camouflage from birds. The most common
predators for chameleons are birds and tree dwelling snakes. The chameleon is also vulnerable to any
land dwelling mammal should it ever take to the forest floor. The threat of new predators to the Parson
s chameleon is limited due to the fact Madagascar is over 360km from mainland Africa. The Parson s
chameleon is positioned low down on the food chain in its habitat. The chameleon feasts primarily on
insects and some small vertebrates while it is hunted by birds, snakes and larger mammals. However,
in spite of what may seem like a struggle to survive with the numerous predators, the Parson s
chameleon has adapted to the environment in order to see off the majority of these threats. One of the
few times a Parson s chameleon will take to the forest floor is to bury the eggs of its offspring 10
30cm below the surface. The eggs are positioned well below the surface in order to protect them from

Who Is Ernest Van Den Haag Determining The Death Penalty
The Right to Life: Executing the Death Penalty The death penalty is a punishment given to people
who commit heinous crimes. Since 1976, there have been over 1,390 executions. But does that make
the death penalty, necessarily, a correct and justifiable form of punishment? The death penalty is our
harshest punishment, states Ernest van den Haag, author of The Ultimate Punishment: a Defense. Van
den Haag, in his article, argues how the death penalty is effective and should be used. However, Jack
Greenberg, James P. Gray, and Jeffery Reiman, all concur that the death penalty should not be used as
a punishment for criminals. Jack Greenberg, author of Against the American System of Capital
Punishment, argues how the death penalty is an ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Van den Haag argues how There has been no conclusive statistical demonstration that the death
penalty is a better deterrent than are alternative punishments (1665). Even though van den Haag
explains that deterrence might not be the best argument for supporting the death penalty, he does
discuss how the certitude of the death penalty tends to be more formidable than imprisonment. Van
den Haag also explains that even though the death penalty may not deter hundreds of murderers, is
still deters some. Sparing the lives of even a few prospective victims by deterring their murderers is
more important than preserving the lives of convicted murderers because of the possibility, or even the
probability, that executing them would not deter others (van den Haag 1666). On the other hand,
Greenberg, Reiman, and Gray argue against deterrence and how it is not a leading factor for justifying
the administration the death penalty. Because of the goals that our criminal justice system must satisfy
deterring crime, punishing the guilty, acquitting the innocent, avoiding needless cruelty, treating
citizens equally, and prohibiting oppression by the state America simply does not have the kind of
capital punishment system contemplated by death penalty partisans (Greenberg 1670). Greenberg
argues how due to the American system of capital punishment, deterrence is not a factor due to the
infrequent, random, and erratic executions of this system

The Pros And Cons Of Private Security
Private security is growing rapidly throughout several countries. Usually security is militarized to
assist with the rise in criminal activity mostly in the urban areas in Trinidad and Tobago. Although the
private security continues to answer the call when it comes to forces of globalization and privatization
of the challenges of public security and its limited resources (Anyanwu 2012).
The private military companies (PMC) and the private security companies (PSC) are similar when it
comes to services provided for the greater demands for different types of security. Carlos Ortiz defines
private security companies and private military companies as legally established international firms
offering services that involve the potential to exercise force in a systematic way and by military or
paramilitary means, as well as the enhancement, the transfer, the facilitation, the deterrence, or the
defusing of this potential, or the knowledge required to implement it, to clients. (Anyanwu, 2012)
According to Anyanwa, private military companies have been used since 1990 for the industries in
Trinidad and Tobago, but they both lack some ability to meet traditional state protective standards
along with the local police trying to meet the growing demands of security needed. Even though
private security is growing both regional and international, the local agencies are small but still the
majority.
These agencies offer the traditional armed officer and unarmed guards for services. It has

The Date the World Went to War
In 1914 Bosnia was holding the annual summer manoeuvers of the Austro Hungarian army that were
centered on the XV and XVI corps there. It was said it was beautiful Sunday morning as it was bright
and sunny that day. Archduke Franz Ferdinand was there serving as the inspector of the army. It was
announced in March that the Archduke Franz Ferdinand would be attending this event, and would be
visiting Sarajevo as well. Archduke Franz Ferdinand and his wife Sophie were assassinated by Gavrilo
Princip on June 28th, 1914 in Sarajevo as an act of terror by Princip, on behalf of the Slavic
Nationalist Black Hand Organization. This date is often associated with being the start of the First
World War. Franz Ferdinand was an Archduke of Austria Este, Austro Hungarian and Royal Prince of
Hungary and of Bohemia. He was born in Graz, Austria, and was the eldest son of Archduke Karl
Ludwig of Austria and was the younger brother of Franz Joseph and Maximilian. In 1889 Ferdinand s
cousin committed suicide at his hunting lodge. This changed his life drastically because this meant his
father was in line for the throne. Shortly after gaining the throne Ferdinand s father passed away from
typhoid fever. With the death of his father Franz was now in charge of the throne.1
Franz Ferdinand was enlisted into the Austro Hungarian Army at a young age. He was promoted often,
and was even appointed lieutenant by the age of fourteen. He followed that by becoming a captain at

STEGANOGRAPHY [n. stə nóggrəfi]
Steganography (literally meaning covered writing) dates back to ancient Greece, where common
practices consisted of etching messages in wooden tablets and covering them with wax, and tattooing
a shaved messenger s head, letting his hair grow back, and then shaving it again when he arrived at his
contact point. Steganography comes from the Greek steganos, or covered, and graphie, or writing .
Synonymous to abstraction, the art and science of hiding information by embedding messages within
other, seemingly harmless messages. Steganography takes cryptography a step farther by hiding an
encrypted message so that no one suspects it exists. Ideally, anyone scanning your data ... Show more

Most people study steganography either as an academic discipline or a curiosity, but I don t know if
even terrorist groups would actually use it, says Chakraborty. Last year, after reading a USA Today
article about steganography and terrorism, Neils Provos, a Ph.D. student in computer science at the
University of Michigan in Ann Arbor, decided do his dissertation on steganography. Provos developed
detection and cracking tools to analyze images for signs of steganography, such as overly large files
and uneven bit mapping. He tested the tools and then used them to compare 2 million images on San
Jose based eBay Inc. s Web site, which has been cited as a possible place for posting and retrieving
hidden messages. Provos found no cases of steganography.

Steganography becomes the focus of attention, dies down, and then the public is all over it again, says
Provos. But it will never be pervasive, because the amount of data you can actually hide in the images
is fairly small. And if someone wanted to steal intellectual property, it d be easier to copy the data on a
disk and carry it out in your pocket. Even if steganography is present, forensics experts prefer to start
by investigating less complex areas. However, in some cases, the only evidence might be hidden in
image or sound files, so investigators need to be aware of steganography and the tools used to detect
and crack it, say experts. It s

Respiratory Diseases
Respiratory diseases can be classified in many different ways; by the organ involved, by the pattern of
symptoms or by the cause of the disease (Barron, 2009). Disorders of the respiratory system can be
classified into four general areas:
Restrictive conditions (fibrosis, sarcoidosis, alveolar damage, pleural effusion) Vascular diseases (
pulmonary edema, pulmonary embolism, pulmonary hypertension)
Infectious, environmental and other diseases ( pneumonia, tuberculosis, asbestosis, particulate
pollutants): Coughing is very important, because it is the body s main method to remove dust, mucus,

How are infections of upper respiratory tract different from those of lower respiratory tract?
The main difference is the location of the infection. An upper respiratory tract infection would include
infection of the nose, nasal cavity, nasal and paranasal sinuses, the larynx and pharynex. A lower
respiratory infection would include infection of the traches, bronchi, or bronchial tree, the lungs or
pleural cavitiy.
Why are infections of the upper respiratory tract milder as compared to those pertaining to the lower
respiratory tract?
Lower rspiratory tract infections have secretions low down that can block the airways and prevent
sufficient oxygen being available to the lungs (Health Blurbs, 2015).
. Upper respriatory tract infections aren t so bad because if your nose is blocked you can breathe
through your mouth , so oxygen availability isn t much of an issue.
Describe the curative methods for each of upper and lower respiratory tract infections Treatment for
an upper respiratory tract infection may include rest, increased fluid intake, over the counter
medications to manage the symptoms, vitamin C, zinc, echinacea and nasal spray (Health Blurbs,

Francisco Goya Essay
Francisco Goya s The Third of May1808: Principles of Art Design
Great insights went into the intricate composition of Francisco Goya s painting The Third of May
1808, his painting utilizes the principles of art and design which displays all six principles: unity and
variety; emphasis; balance; rhythm and movement; perspective; and proportion and scale. All six
principles could also be identified and critically analyzed within his painting The Third of May 1808
which ultimately resulted in a whole cohesive composition.
Goya s use of the principle of art design, unity is evident as the shapes and sizes he painted in The
Third of May 1808 are easily recognizable when looking at the prisoners and soldiers, the viewer can
notice that all the human bodies represent mass equally in the painting. Unity is defined as a method
of organizing artwork to bring all the parts together to make one integrated whole by repeating
elements in it. Furthermore he adds ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Emphasis is exemplified by Goya when he painted a horizontal line to represent death. Convergence is

the painting is first viewed.
Goya integrates the design principle balance in The Third of May 1808 when he utilizes informal
balance and is evident when he painted the soldiers and building on the right of the painting and
prisoners and hill on the left side of the painting which created a balanced visual weighted artwork
Informal Balance is defined as the elements of art and design used to create the same comfortable

Nowadays every legal system wants to achieve justice. Different legal traditions in the world have
given a different meaning of this concept by following one of the two legal systems: a civil law
system and a common law system. The civil law system emerged from Roman law and throughout
many centuries has been developed in continental Europe and often is called a continental legal
system , achieving its prominence through development of aqui communitare in Europe. The common
law system emerged in England during the Anglo Saxon period and was developed by British
colonies, reaching its peak in the United Kingdom and the United States of America.
There are many differences as well as similarities between the civil and the common law judicial ...

In an adversary system the judge and jury as decision makers have a passive role in investigating and
gathering evidence and are responsible solely in deciding the case. In contrast, in an inquisitorial
system the judge holds a very active role in the process, by choosing which evidence to accept and
applying the law to the evidence in deciding the case. Supporters of the adversary system consider this
feature as an advantage because they believe that the justice is best achieved where the decision maker
is neutral, passive and impartial in deciding the case.
Distinction of roles between judges and juries is a further fundamental difference between the
adversarial and inquisitorial systems. In an adversarial system, there is a division of work between a
judge and jury. The role of the judge is to adjudicate the issue of law and to ensure that the trial
proceeds comply with the procedural and substantial laws, while the role of the jury is to adjudicate
the issue of facts as served by the opposing parties based on the law given by judges. Generally, a
judge will not interfere in jury s decision making, but this approach varies subject to matters being
decided in the criminal or civil cases. In civil cases, a judge has a power to set aside a decision taken
by jury if such decision was not made in accordance with the applicable law. However, in criminal
cases a judge does not

Outline The Concept Of Skepticism
How do we know things for certain? How can I be certain of the things I consider to be true? The only
way we can know things for certain is through doubting the things we think we know, also known as
skepticism. In this paper I will argue that skepticism is the best way to know things for certain because
it acknowledges the presence of cognitive dissonance, self justification and the things we can learn by
questioning. I will proceed as follows: I will outline the concepts of skepticism, according to Carol
Tavris and Elliot Aronson, and the concepts of rationalism, according to René Descartes. Then, I will
compare rationalism and skepticism by explaining how challenging the ways we think we know stuff
and cognitive dissonance can affect how we perceive things through skepticism and describing
Descartes many principles based off of reason and how he uses these reasons to slowly affirm the
things we must know for certain through rationalism.
Epistemology is the study of how we attain knowledge or why we believe stuff in the way we do.
There are many branches in epistemology to explain how we learn and comprehend things, but also
how we can know things for certain. Skepticism, a concept within epistemology, is a way we know the
things we do with certainty. By using doubt and questioning how we perceive things, we can examine
the validity of the knowledge and ideas that people seem sure of or believe must be true. By assessing
things skeptically, it allows us to comprehend that

Bang!Bang!Bang! The gavel hit the table. Good morning to everyone, today Tuesday 24 of October of
the according year, we are going to be decided if Ponyboy Curtis should go to foster care, or remain in
the care of his older brother Darrel Soda pop Curtis. The environment where the child is held at is very
important. In this period of time, there are more than 120,000 children being transported to foster care
institutions. Across the United States more children are in bad conditions and are in need of foster
care. If Ponyboy Curtis is in real need he will be transported to a foster care institution, if there is no

Ponyboy Curtis should be surrounded by people who have lived the same way. That way the child will
feel more in the place and understanding. Although, others may understand him with time, he needs to
be surrounded by people he trusts. In other words, the best people who understand him are his brothers
Sodapop Darrel. Both of them are trusted by Ponyboy and have experienced what the minor has been
through.
Not to mention, protection is also an important and fundamental, and Sodapop and Darrel effectively
take care of the young Ponyboy. In any situation they will protect the minor, even if there are gang
conflicts outside of their neighborhood, the minor will be protected by his oldest brothers, and as a
matter of fact, Ponyboy is in good hands with his brothers. As said in their neighborhood, they have
each others back
Equally important, the minor will receive basic needs, although Sodapop and Darrel can not afford the
most expensive brands,he will have the most important and fundamental basics, such as, food, clothes,
shoes, bed, home and care. Materials are important, but most important is character and discipline.
Maybe not first hand items, but always making sure the minor has all basics, staring from home

Essay on Alcoholism and Alcohol Abuse
Alcohol is the number one drug problem among America s youth. More senior high school students
use alcohol than any other psychoactive drug. Family doctors, pediatricians, schoolteachers, and
parents know that alcohol is overwhelmingly the drug of choice among today s youth, although
trendier substances such as cocaine are often given more attention in the headlines (Carla Felsted, p.
vii). Furthermore, it is widely acknowledged that drinking alcohol is a part of the youth culture in
America; it may also be understood as a culturally conditioned and socially controlled behavior.
In my generation drinking among underage kids is blamed on peers, accessibility, and adulthood.
Research shows that about 10 million Americans between ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
In a study done by Paul Rhode, PhD, a scientist at the Oregon Research Institute in Eugene, he and his
colleagues evaluated whether teenagers with serious alcohol problems were likely to continue their
behavior into adulthood. Roxanne Nelson states that the researchers found that serious alcohol
problems as a teenager did predict future substance abuse, alcoholism, depression, and symptoms of
antisocial and borderline personality disorders by age 24. In addition, teenagers who were heavy
drinkers but that hadn t actually been diagnosed with a serious alcohol problem were also at some
increased risk for these same problems.
Teenagers face many difficult decisions in their lives and have many people in their lives that
influence them. One of the major groups that influence teens is their peer group. Since teenagers are
not yet comfortable with themselves, they have a strong need to be accepted by their peers. And to be
accepted, they feel they have to be just like their peers (Ruth Maxwell, p. 24). From Maxwell we learn
that teenagers will use alcohol to be accepted by a group. As age progresses the number of alcohol
users progress 73 percent of kids that are from the ages of 16 18 are drinkers. In addition, around 90
percent of high school seniors have experienced alcohol at least once in their life.

Ethnic Cleansing And Genocide
Despite the 21st century advancements, the world is still plagued with major problems today. Each
country, region and continent is facing its own set of struggles and battles. Whether it is an economic,
political or social issue, there is always an obstruction that a country is striving to overcome. One of
the worldwide issues is ethnic cleansing and genocide. In particular, the South Sudanese civil war is
caused by differing opinions of ethnic groups and is leading to the attempt of genocide. Despite the
several laws under crimes against humanity opposing this practice, it still does not stop groups from
continuing this vile activity. South Sudan is in turmoil due to fighting between those with ethnic
differences, specifically the Dinka and the Nuer. These heinous crimes must be stopped before the
newly developed country, South Sudan, does not have an opportunity to flourish. This issue has been
common throughout history, varying in severity and affected ethnic groups. For instance, the countries
of Central Africa, Germany, Poland, Hungary and Myanmar have all been affected by this atrocity (
Fear of Genocide in the World s Newest Nation ; Keleman) . Two of the most globally recognized
instances of ethnic cleansing are the Armenian genocide from 1915 to 1920 and the Holocaust from
1933 to 1945. The current South Sudanese Civil War is between the President of South Sudan, Salva
Kiir, and the former Vice President, Riek Machar. The ethnic groups of the Dinka and Nuer are

From Movements to Parties in Latin America. The Evolution...
The author analyzes how indigenous people s movements in Latin America transformed into viable
political parties. For her, these new parties are good for the democracy because they enrich and
enhance the legitimacy of the political and electoral system. She assumes that the primary link
between state and society are the parties and its accountability impact on the institutions. She proves
that the crisis of the traditional parties and the transformation of the historical electoral constrains
were determinant factors that contributed to ethnic party formation and consolidation. Van Cott
conclusions were based on the study of six countries: Bolivia, Ecuador, Colombia, and Venezuela as
successful cases, and Peru and Argentina as failed ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Therefore, the asked question is under which conditions ethnic parties tended to merge and to endure?
To untangle this question the book uses primary and secondary sources. The primary ones are the
result of several years of field work in situ in the mentioned countries, except Argentina; and the
secondary ones are an exhaustive review of the scholarly over democratic regimes and electoral
systems, political parties and ethnic parties, and social movements in the international and national
levels. While doing this, she builds her own basic category of analysis: the ethnic party. An ethnic
party is defined as any political organization with a strong ethnic component: ethnic leaders, majority
of ethnic members, or have ethnic or cultural related core demands. Within these strictures, she
explores intrinsic and external reasons for party formation. When the indigenous communities realize
that they could keep their traditions, their land, and basically, their autonomy, and at the same time be
politically independent not a convenient minority for the left or for the dominant parties; they were
internally ready to face the changes coming from the outside. This consolidation process takes
approximately four to ten years when the social movement shapes itself and recognizes its capacity
and political possibilities. The external circumstances got more attention from the author. The

Human Rights Advocates Should Be Improved Labor Conditions
THESIS When you look at the tag on a shirt and see Made in China what does that really mean? Quite
likely it was made in a hot, crowded sweatshop on the outskirts of a city or in some village. If you
were to survey a random group of individuals the majority would say they don t support sweatshop
labor, but how many could provide a legitimate argument against it?
The present state of manufacturing factories throughout Africa and Asia are consistently the center of
debate between humanitarians, economists, and consumers alike. This discussion is not a new one, by
modern standards, sweatshops have existed for centuries and will likely continue into the distant

Therefore, any action to regulate or restrict someone s right to work in a manufacturing plant is a
violation of their personal liberty and detrimental to their current level of living.
So what is life in a sweatshop really like? What effects do manufacturing firms have on communities
and how should educated consumers respond?
CONTEXT
History
The existence of sweatshops can be traced all the way back 1500 s when Spanish Conquistadors
claimed control of Ecuador and forced natives to work in their textile mills. The term itself references
England s manufacturing industries throughout the 1800 s. In English factories immigrants would
perform monotonous actions for long hours and meager pay. As immigration into America increased
during the late 1800 s so did the quantity of sweatshops. The employers of these immigrants preyed
upon their lack of education and inability to read or write. Immigrants had to endure overcrowded
workplaces, poor sanitation, high expectations, and were rarely given the chance to take a break.
Nonetheless, they were more than grateful for the opportunities they were presented with and were
more than ecstatic to escape the hardships of their old lives. Eventually better working conditions
were established but not until America s economy had strengthened as a whole. Too many people try
to attribute improvements like the 40 hour work

Analysis Of The Book My Lie
Your Lie in April (四月は君の嘘 Shigatsu wa Kimi no Uso) is an anime series based on the manga by
Naoshi Arakawa. The plot follows Kōsei Arima, Kaori Miyazono and Tsubaki Sawabe as they face
teenage problems in love, music, and health.
This anime is by far the most depressing series I have ever watched. It s not just sad, it s depressing. It
s like watching a group of cursed kids going through traumatic events that will likely make them the
most miserable adults possible. The series started with the potential of being one of the great tear
jerkers, but they forgot how to give something resembling happiness to keep the story in the light. At
times, it feels like the story, and the characters, are about to emerge from the shadows, only to be
pulled back deeper, like a swimmer caught in the ocean desperately trying to reach shore as it s swept
further away by each crashing wave. Due to the constant dark nature of the story, I found the scenes
that should have been emotional just blended into the rest of the story, resulting in a story with very
little emotional impact. Although, the final two episodes were so emotional that they cut right through
all that sadness, which should tell you how fantastic they were. But two unforgettable episodes does
make an unforgettable series.
Much of the problem in Your Lie in April stems from the repeated content. Sometimes the beginning
of one episode is the same as the final minutes of the previous episode, with a few alterations. This

Even though the author provides a possible approach that can be used so both feminist and cultural

because both are so different. It is true that both have several similarities in seeing how human right
should be, however this similarities have a different base or goals, which lead me to conclude that
feminist and cultural relativist is not a friend.
Feminist would protect the women no matter what happen, even though it means that it could violate
cultural value. Cultural relativist would be okay with harming a female or woman as long as they
would not violating cultural value. Then again, if they start working together to reconstruct human
rights, it will not be fair for cultural relativist because the feminist defender is all over the world, they
will think it is okay to violating cultural law as long as women get their right. There is not any which
one is better than the other, it is just their idea is so different which make me believe that there will not

The blue light from electronics, pass through the retina into a part of the hypothalamus (the area of the
brain that controls several sleep activities) and delay the release of the sleep inducing hormone,
melatonin (WebMD). The light from the screens throws off the body s natural sleep and wake system,
also known as the circadian rhythm. The circadian rhythm tells the body when to release melatonin;
the chemical that tells the body when to sleep, as well as serotonin; the chemical that tells the body
when to wake up. The brain releases melatonin when the sun goes down to begin to prepare the body
to go to sleep, blue light reverses the effects of melatonin and wakes the brain back up. Serotonin is
released when the sun comes up to wake the brain up and make the body alert and ready for the day, if
the person does not get enough sleep then the serotonin levels will be low and they will be less awake

point of the epicentre, first the P waves arrived followed by the S waves a few minutes later. So then
they thought that this would be the case for all over the globe, but they found out something else. They
tried to predict the time they expected the waves to reach a destination on exactly on the other side of
the globe, so they scaled up the time interval between the two waves arriving. First the P wave arrived,
on time as they expected but the S wave didn¡¦t, this was because the P waves can travel through any
physical state. However S waves can only travel through solids which is why they can pass through
the mantle, so a change of physical state must happen in the middle of the mantle somewhere. The
area where the S waves enter and do not come back out is called the shadow zone. The P waves also
have a shadow zone. This would be from about 105¢X to 142¢X marked from the Focus of the

bent down again when they leave the core mantle boundary. So no waves can emerge at the surface

Reflection On PARCC Test
The testing process was a general meeting with the staff who are qualified to administer the PARCC
exam. The principal ran through a state provided PowerPoint and provided the schedule that works
well for the school. The principal explained the security measures as well as who to contact in case of
emergencies or problems. There was also another meeting for the staff that could not attend the
original. All staff members who were involved with PARCC testing had to sign a paper
acknowledging that they attended the training. I was able to work with the secretary and principal to
coordinate testing times. I also served as a test administrator and shadowed the principal. In regards to
the NJ ASK, there were multiple security components that had to be in order. First off, the tests had to
be checked in by two people; the principal and the counselor who is also in charge of testing. The
boxes of tests are then delivered to the testing closet where they are counted and checked in their
designated area. This closet is locked all the time and only the principal has keys to it. The teachers
were responsible to come to the testing closet to collect their materials. The principal was responsible
to make sure that staff members sign out their bins and that all their materials are in the bin.
Reflection
As I reflect on state standardized test, I realize that budgeting extra time is always necessary. While all
PARCC tests have enough time, there was a day where one 8th grade class started late and had
technology issues. This caused a delay in lunches being served to the students. There was also another
issue with the technology in general. Many computers did not load the tests as there was a JAVA
update that needed to take place. There was also the issue with having the tests spread out over 7 days
and the whole school testing window over a month. The vision is to have the students test on mine net
books and I pads. While many schools do go that approach, I find that we would have to teach our
students how to use these tools first prior to the test. This would take always instructional time. While
we have ample computer labs to accommodate 6 classes at one time, it would cause a hardship on the
schedule. I would prefer to

What Happens When A Soccer Ball Bounces
1.0 Background Theory
1.1 Introduction
This investigation aims to determine the relationship between air pressure and the bounce height of the
ball, and what material (material of a basketball, volleyball and soccer ball) is best suited for a ball in
order for it to achieve its greatest bounce height.
1.2 Research Questions
1. How does the air pressure inside a ball influence the bounce height/vertical motion of that ball?
2. How does the material of a ball affect the bounce height/vertical motion of that ball?
1.3 Theory
1.31 Air Pressure
Air pressure can be defined as the force applied by air molecules on the surfaces in and around an
object, and is measured in Pascals one Newton per square metre (Pa) or pounds per square inch (psi).

The velocity of the ball increases in the opposite direction as it has started to rebound from the ground
with acceleration still pointing up (see Figure 5). This also means that the elastic potential energy is
transferring into kinetic energy, although the kinetic energy will be less than previous because some of
the energy has been lost to generate heat and sound when the ball lands and deforms. Due to the loss
in energy, the ball will not return to its original drop height and creates a bounce height.
Figure 5: Stage 5 (Real World Physics Problems, 2016)
6. The ball is now just touching the surface so it has returned to its original shape so all the elastic
potential energy has been transferred back into kinetic energy again (see Figure 6). The only force
acting on the ball now is gravity, so the acceleration has changed back to its original direction and its
velocity is decreasing.

Discuss the Minority Presence in Contemporary British Art...
Minority Presence in Contemporary British Art
Highly visible yet evasively mute.
Art critic Kobena Mercer, comments on the current position of African and Asian artists in
Contemporary British Art, when he suggests that minority artists are seen and not heard. This
oxymoronic position derives from a long historical legacy of European colonization and the emphasis
on racial inferiority and otherness. On the one hand, British art is progressive, allowing some minority

The yBa movement is said to establish new ideas of Britishness in a postmodern world. Yet, Mercer
goes so far as to say that the movement is in part a reaction to the attempt to globalize the British art
world: At this stage it is precisely the discrepancy between parochial yBa inwardness and the art world
internatialism that obliges us to interrogate the ideology of New British Art as a defensive, and, above
all, regressive response to the bewildering effects of globalization The important art (as seen by
Saatchi and The Tate) returns to a concern with British identity that fails to comment on how diversity
has changed that identity. By turning inward as a reaction to globalization, British art regresses and
fuels a return to white dominance. As a result, multicultural art lacking Western referents become
suppressed.
While there are movements to prevent this subordination of multiculturalism, their range of influence
is limited. The Institute of International Visual Arts (inIva) was founded in 1994 and its major goal is
to bring artists from culturally diverse backgrounds to the attention of mainstream British culture.
However, while their success has been praised on a global level, locally they are largely overlooked.
The major art insitutions refuse to recognize artists whose thematic concentration does not

Family In Frankenstein
The story of Frankenstein is one that focuses mainly on the idea of losing touch with the reality of
what is family and love whilst in the pursuit of knowledge. This can initially be experienced in the
beginning of the novel in the letters Walton sends to his sister Margaret Saville. In this case, Walton,
in search of a passage to the pacific, risks his life without much regard for how his sister may feel.
During his voyage Walton eventually gets into a situation, being trapped by the ice, that jeopardizes
not only his main objective to find the passage, but the relationships he has at home, specifically his
sister. Much like Walton, Victor comes upon a fascination of his own, the natural world. This
fascination, rather an obsession, is the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
There is however another way to approach the issue and that is placing the responsibility of coping
with his difference on the monster. Even though, some may say he did not know any better it is very
easy to argue the abandoned child perspective as I have done hitherto. In Teaching the Monster, it is
said that sympathizing with monster is a simple way of looking at the story and may result in lack of
analysis on behalf of the reader or writer. This is fairly accurate as it allows the reader or writer to
come up with fairly simple explanations for why the story played out the way it

Descriptive Essay On The Ocean City
If you ever find yourself in ocean city Maryland, you may be overwhelmed by the different types of
people on the beach. The time of day you are the beach changes the entire experience itself. It can
switch from a relaxing day soaking up the sun to virtually being in the middle of a beach brawl. The
craziness of ocean city never appears to end.
After traveling for 3 hours, my family arrived at our beach house in Ocean City Maryland. After
making a quick trip for groceries, we decided to go to bed and set alarm clocks for early in the
morning. After a good nights sleep, I woke up to the pleasant smell of bacon and eggs. After feasting
on a delightful breakfast, my brothers and I began to get ready for the beach. We went down the
creaky wooden stairs of our beach house and unlocked the storage room located beneath the home. I
decided to carry both of the floral umbrellas while my brothers took the portable beach chairs. After
grabbing all of our gear, we headed back up the weathered stairs and towards the distant sand dunes.
As we approached the entrance of the sand dunes, the satisfying sounds of the ocean s waves started to
become closer and closer. Once we traveled closer, the vivid orange sun began to ascend from the
deep sea. At this early point in the morning, the sand walkway enclosed by dunes, hadn t heated up
from the sun, so the sand had a soothing feeling of cool sand between each toe. Upon reaching the
shore, we noticed that not many beachgoers had set up their

Biblical View On Homosexuality And Religion
Biblical view on Homosexuality
In the bible God divinely established the institution of marriage, and this is seen in the garden of Eden
during creation. Marriage was a special gift to man from a loving God before the fall that led to evil
and pervasion entering the spiritual world of man. Marriage was designed by our creator to give
satisfaction to a person s deepest longings for intimacy, love, appreciation and care. The views of
marriage between Christians and Jews are fundamentally different and show the different ways that
they view the world in relation to how they interpret their own doctrine and how these views are
changing over time.
According to the Christian doctrine, reasons why people get married and traditional marriages are
becoming diminished at a faster rate than ever as the culture changes. This is very true for
contemporary culture, law, and society. A growing influence in secular ideologies and practice are
undermining biblical standards in family relations and sexual morality. Marital unfaithfulness, spousal
abuse, sex before marriage, cohabitation, pornography, and promiscuity; these among other liberated
lifestyles of married couples are bringing down the intuition of marriage. Moreover, alternative
sexualities like homosexuality included and other varieties of transgender identities are becoming
increasingly mainstream. In the course of years, the strict Christian community and Orthodox Judaism
have responded to this rapidly changing landscape

The Third Stage By Wole Soyinka
In his essay, The Fourth Stage which helped to establish [his] reputation as a myth critic, a drama
theorist and a master of language , Soyinka attempts to investigate the origin of Yoruba tragedy (
Madaukor 8). He is of the view that in Yoruba world view, tragedy originated from gods
consciousness of their incompleteness or what he terms the anguish of severance ; [t]he tragedy in
Yoruba traditional drama, is the anguish of this severance, the fragmentation of essence from self
(Myth 145). In other words, the gods who have become isolated from the world of men are eager for
complementary which was lost and balance was destroyed as a result of a curse (19). The interaction

In this way, he created harmony in the Yoruba world of gods and humans.
In order to keep balance and harmony in Yoruba world, some pre eminent people, usually leaders or
rulers have to sacrifice themselves on behalf of the community. This notion is reflected in Death and
the King s Horseman; Elesin Oba, the King s Horseman, who has been extremely honoured as a great
chief as well as the King s close friend, has to join the dead king in his journey to the world of the
ancestors; by so doing, he brings the world of gods and ancestors closer to that of the living.
Consequently, he maintains balance and harmony in the Yoruba world and thus makes for its well
being. Elesin adopts all Yoruba beliefs and has faith in all its values and duties. He is the embodiment
of the culture of his people and as such he has an awful responsibility. It is quite simply that on him
depends the future, on him depends the existence itself (Bowman 89). Elesin has to play the heroic
role played by Ogun in order to bridge the gap between man and the gods. He has to cross the
dangerous abyss between the world of the living and that of the ancestors but this demands a strong
will as that of Ogun. Elesin has the desire to make this journey but his attachment to worldly pleasures
damages his will; his love of women comes in the way of fulfilling his sacred duty.
The play opens with the significant Stage Directions:

Peter Hessler and China
Peter Hessler and a fellow Peace Corp. volunteer were placed in Fuling, and poor town on the Yangtze
River in rural China. River Town is more or less a journal of what it was like being in Fuling on a day
to day basis. He illustrates his experience through stories of trips he took, people that he became close
with, and situations that required an open mind. Peter s job was teaching English literature at a small
college in the town; and through this was able to learn both about the tightly controlled nature of being
a foreigner in China, as well as some of the thoughts of the younger generation through various
assignments. He was greeted as a hero and was lavished upon, but at the same time found it very
difficult to be accepted by the locals, cadres or not.
Many hot topics were addressed, from the Cultural Revolution under Mao Zedong, to the
independence of Taiwan. It is amazing how nationalized China is and how standardized thinking is
there. To the people there; Mao is good because he is a revolutionary, and Taiwan is bad because they
should be part of China. Everything is simplified into this style of thinking and debate is not a valid
avenue for students (or teachers for that matter) to take. Hessler constantly fought with his position as
a foreigner, even after two years of living in the town. Ethnocentrism is evident in China just like it is
everywhere else, and even though Peter tried very hard to blend in, he was never truly able to shed his

Coptic Eritrean Orthodox Traditions

many different religions practiced; including Islam, Pentecostal Christian, and Orthodox Christian. I
was blessed to be brought up by practicing the historical religion of Orthodox Christianity. This faith
is a religion that has been transformed into many different languages and cultures in order to
assimilate to a region that it has been spread to. Due to this, we practice Coptic Eritrean Orthodox,
simply meaning that our practice is based on the language, geez , and we incorporate culture and old
traditions through it.

Money Can Buy The Pursuit Of Happiness
MONEY When it comes to the topic of money granting happiness, most of us readily agree that it can
because it gives us status, value, and happiness in society s modern culture. Where this agreement
usually ends, however, is on the question of money not being able to buy the pursuit of happiness.
Whereas some are convinced that money grants once in a lifetime experience, medical help for loved
ones, and pleasurable life necessities, others are convinced that they don t need money to be happy
and would rather be poor and happy than rich and miserable. Money is used for buying, giving, and
having fun with it. Money is everything in today world, and not a lot of people have money so there
chances of being happy is very unlikely. According to John Grohol Psy. D, a researcher and writes
about mental health psychology and technology issues, states, Money can buy you happiness as long
as you give some of the money away, or use it for an experience rather than buying a product because
as you may not be aware of, recent studies have shown that we are generally happier when we spend
money on experience (Grohol 1). To me money can buy you happiness because it changes our mood
and how we feel because it s undeniable. I also concord with John when saying we should give some
money away. For example, give some money to charities or to unfortunate people because some
people need it more than we do. It will basically make us feel happier at the end of the day. To me, if

  • 2. Lao Tzu . I learned about Lao Tzu and Confucius theory on Servant Leadership. I also learned how they connected ancient Asian culture to the theory. I also learned that the sixth and fifth century B.C.E was a transition period for China. I also learned how Lao Tzu used poetry to express his thoughts on leadership. The reading also taught me Lao Tzu nearly gave up after becoming discouraged. Yet, he pushed on and became an influential man. 2. I strongly agree with the concepts presented in number seventeen. Tzu s theory is similar to my own philosophy of leadership. I also believe that it is favorable for a leader s followers to be glorified, rather than himself. A quote I agree with is: leader is best when people barely know that he exists. I agree ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 4. Rationale In The Little Trampe Rationale Modern Times is a commentary on human survival in the economic, political, industrial and social lifestyle of the 20th century society and remains as relevant, for the 21st century too. The problems The Tramp highlights through the use of comedy are unemployment, poverty, drugs, strikes, riots, inhumanity in the workplace are still clearly evident in the current society. The main aspect that this movie analysis focuses on is the effect of Charlie Chaplin s environment on his character of The Little Tramp. Throughout the movie, the Tramp can be seen performing all his jobs very mechanically and meaninglessly. He remains naïve about his surroundings which can be compared to situation of people in the 21st century wherein tasks are performed without thinking. Machines seem to replacing men rather than assisting the men. The plot is very important in accentuating and unfolding the character of a modern life style. Analysis The film s opening title The story of industry, of individual enterprise humanity crusading in the pursuit of happiness is followed by a symbolic image of a flood of men and women flowing out of the subway station similar to the rows of sheep. From this we can easily understand how like sheep, these herds of men and women do as they are told and flow into the city s ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... • 5. The Communication Problems That Endanger Marriage Can t... Communication is usually the most important aspect of trying to understand something or someone. It is important to convey a message clearly; otherwise the words can be interpreted differently. Interpretation can give off positivity or negativity because it depends on the way the other side receives it. There are various languages, but in those languages something can mean differently than what it signifies in English. There are different types of communication and the way words come out rely on the tone. It is not only words that are a barrier, but it is also behavior and style. The effects of communication create discrepancy amongst people by lack of understanding, wrong body language, and frustration. Lack of understanding becomes a major component for something not working out. Deborah Tannen in Sex, Lies and Conversation mentioned that the communication problems that endanger marriage can t be fixed... (278). The main problem between relationship is communication. Boyfriends and girlfriends breakup because they do no talk to each other and think space will fix everything. Space does not always work because there is no communication at all. Majority of reasons that couples get a divorce is because they do not understand their significant other. Trying to communicate becomes hard because the couple is not used to communicating in the first place and both have different ways of conversing. Not understanding the other creates distance, which makes the couple decide that ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 6. Negative Effects Of Music Music can impact the lives of people drastically. Listening to music can affect your mood. Good music and a nice long night drive can make the experience better. Sad music has an opposite effect, it brings people down. For example a song that brings joy and happiness would be Don t Threaten Me with a Good Time by Panic! at the Disco. A sentimental song would be See You Again by Wiz Khalifa. Lastly The Memory by Mayday Parade would make anyone sad or a bit down. Imagine listening to a song that everyone in the car knows the lyrics so you all sing along having a total blast. This song can bring back some happy and fun times, being young and dumb. A song that reminds me of a moment like this would have to be Don t Threaten Me with a Good Time by Panic! At the Disco. The song talks about waking up after a party and not knowing what happen. A little into the song, it mentions you shoulda seen what I wore I had a cane and a party hat I was king of the hologram where there s no such thing as getting out of hand memories tend to just pop up . When you re having fun you tend to believe that you look good and you can do whatever because most people don t think when they re like this. Therefore it ends up with them not remembering much, but little memories. This is one of the songs my friends and I listen to when we re in the car, and yes we all sing to it and have fun. • 7. Pros And Cons Of Health Care Reform Introduction: The topic of discussion is the fairness of an individual mandated to purchase health insurance. It was one of the most argumentative subjects in U.S. politics: the federal health care law s requirement that everybody has health insurance or pays a fine. Supporters of this debate, argue that it s fundamental to make health care more affordable and available to everyone. Those against the mandate say a law that forces people to purchase anything, as well as health insurance, disturbs promises of personal freedom protected by the Constitution. Opponents say, it also makes health care more expensive and ineffective. Reconstructions of Arguments: A. It is the conclusion of Karen Davenport that it is the key to reform. Should everyone ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... In the second article, Michael F. Cannon argues no: premiums will rise according to his article asking should everyone be required to have health insurance. He even tells us if the mandate were constitutional; it would still be a bad idea. Some of his reasoning s for this is not a good plan is that the mandate will increase premiums. The mandate s greatest fabrication is the idea that it promotes personal responsibility. He explains that supporters want a mandate so it can keep them from being responsible. Here s how this will happen, by the federal law promotion of irresponsibility by allowing healthy people to wait until they get sick to buy coverage. He argues this is selfishness forcing others to bear the cost of ones decision. I believe in the importance for each American to have the option for health insurance. As a nurse, I have seen many cases of people that did not seek medical attention due to they could not afford health care. • 8. Characteristics Of Pat Tillman Amongst the qualities a hero should have, I would include determination, loyalty, courage, perseverance, patience, focus, intrepidity and selflessness. This quote from Ricky Martin perfectly fits Pat Tillman, past Army veteran and NFL player. Pat Tillman was born on November 6, 1976 in Fremont, California. He went to Leland High School and played for their football. After he graduated high school, Tillman went to Arizona State University for college and played for their football team as well. Soon after he graduated, he got drafted into the NFL, playing for the Arizona Cardinals. In 2002 Tillman enlisted himself into the United States army to help fight after the 9/11 attacks. But he sadly passed away because of friendly fire on April 22, 2004. Pat Tillman was a man with many amazing qualities: determination, loyalty, and humble/selfless. Pat Tillman is remembered as a man with many amazing qualities, but I think the one he remembered most for is his determination. He showed this even when he was just a high school freshman because after he was cut from the team, he said he would play and he didn t want to just play baseball and he didn t. He ended up playing on the varsity football team for his high school. He also showed that he was determined when anyone said he couldn t do something or he shouldn t do something, he did it anyway and continued to do what he wanted. Each part must be functioning correctly, from delivery systems and issues of Managed Care and Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS), to the National Quality Forum (NQF). These different parts of healthcare facilities are constantly dealing with many different situations that arise. Sometimes circumstances that should not take place occur. These types of circumstances are known as Never Events. As these events rise in number, the safety of patients is decreased; this forces the healthcare facility to find new and improved ways to ensure the safety of patients and reduce medical errors. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... It is important that their knowledge of these events is raised so that in the unfortunate event of their falling victim to such an occurrence, they know exactly what type of action to take. The increased awareness of patients leads to two problems that healthcare organizations must face. The first problem: the patients trust and engagement of these never events would never have came about if it were not for the negative publicity that comes from such an event happening. If a never event either happens to a patient or in a hospital that the patient goes to, then that patient would have less trust towards the healthcare facility overall. The one thing that healthcare organizations need is their patients trust. The second problem: insurers are beginning to hold healthcare facilities financially responsible for never events (Ozan Rafferty). As a result, physicians and hospitals have to pay for the care they provided, in addition to the errors that they encountered. If the insurers do this, it would bring the downfall of the entire hospital because there would be so much expenses that the healthcare facilities have to pay that it may not be able to pay for most of the debts that they have in the facilities. Motivating hospitals to ensure proper policy is followed can lead to a reduction on spending every year due to medical errors. Holding healthcare facilities responsible for ... • 11. Antony And Cleopatra Relationship Essay The relationship between Antony and Cleopatra is something we can only speculate about after analysing the writings from ancient history. The main written accounts of the couple come primarily from Roman writers, therefore are largely based on the cultural, political and possibly personal beliefs of the individuals who wrote them. An important similarity between the two passages would be that both were originally written in the early part of the second century CE, more than 150 years after the events took place (Fear, 2008, p. 9). This highlights the fact that we cannot take the information in these passages as true historical fact but rather the opinion of two Roman citizens whose preconceptions of Antony and Cleopatra have been formed ... In Plutarch s extract, the fault seems to lie upon Antony and his own moral failings. It shows his weakness in how he reacted to the emotional blackmail and manipulation by Cleopatra. If we take a closer look at Reading 1.1, it poses very sexist views of women. Much more emphasis is put on stating that a woman had done this to Antony and that he has been enslaved by her , taking away his control in the situation. In the end, both extracts show that toxic relationship of Antony and Cleopatra was the downfall of their political careers and ultimately cost them both their lives. By studying these historical texts, we see an example of how our own opinions and ideas play a part in how the reputations of people in history are created. Undoubtedly the account of Cleopatra and Antony will continue to evolve over time. At first glance, these two paintings seem very different to look at. It s clear that they are of the same genre of still life however the composition, colour range and possible meanings behind the artwork themselves, greatly differ. One of the most important differences would be the tonal range used in the two paintings. If we look at the Moillon painting, the tone appears quite wide, going drastically from dark to light as we see in the very dark background to the very light table top and oranges. This contrasts with Cézanne s work, as he ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

There are numerous definitions for strategy but each definition is different and valid in certain circumstances. Therefore, strategy is something that cannot be defined easily. However, what is clear is that strategy is used not just in the business world. Survival of a species relies heavily on strategy. (Butler, 2013) These high canopies of dense leaves and bra2nches offer the Parson s chameleon the perfect habitat to live with protection from ground based predators and camouflage from birds. The most common predators for chameleons are birds and tree dwelling snakes. The chameleon is also vulnerable to any land dwelling mammal should it ever take to the forest floor. The threat of new predators to the Parson s chameleon is limited due to the fact Madagascar is over 360km from mainland Africa. The Parson s chameleon is positioned low down on the food chain in its habitat. The chameleon feasts primarily on insects and some small vertebrates while it is hunted by birds, snakes and larger mammals. Since 1976, there have been over 1,390 executions. But does that make the death penalty, necessarily, a correct and justifiable form of punishment? The death penalty is our harshest punishment, states Ernest van den Haag, author of The Ultimate Punishment: a Defense. Van den Haag, in his article, argues how the death penalty is effective and should be used. However, Jack Greenberg, James P. Even though van den Haag explains that deterrence might not be the best argument for supporting the death penalty, he does discuss how the certitude of the death penalty tends to be more formidable than imprisonment. Van den Haag also explains that even though the death penalty may not deter hundreds of murderers, is still deters some. Sparing the lives of even a few prospective victims by deterring their murderers is more important than preserving the lives of convicted murderers because of the possibility, or even the probability, that executing them would not deter others (van den Haag 1666). On the other hand, Greenberg, Reiman, and Gray argue against deterrence and how it is not a leading factor for justifying the administration the death penalty. Because of the goals that our criminal justice system must satisfy deterring crime, punishing the guilty, acquitting the innocent, avoiding needless cruelty, treating citizens equally, and prohibiting oppression by the state America simply does not have the kind of capital punishment system contemplated by death penalty partisans (Greenberg 1670). He tested the tools and then used them to compare 2 million images on San Jose based eBay Inc. s Web site, which has been cited as a possible place for posting and retrieving hidden messages. Provos found no cases of steganography. IT303.Security Issues and Principles Page 2 of 17 Steganography becomes the focus of attention, dies down, and then the public is all over it again, says Provos. But it will never be pervasive, because the amount of data you can actually hide in the images is fairly small. And if someone wanted to steal intellectual property, it d be easier to copy the data on a disk and carry it out in your pocket. Even if steganography is present, forensics experts prefer to start by investigating less complex areas. However, in some cases, the only evidence might be hidden in image or sound files, so investigators need to be aware of steganography and the tools used to detect and crack it, say experts. It s ... Francisco Goya Essay Francisco Goya s The Third of May1808: Principles of Art Design Great insights went into the intricate composition of Francisco Goya s painting The Third of May 1808, his painting utilizes the principles of art and design which displays all six principles: unity and variety; emphasis; balance; rhythm and movement; perspective; and proportion and scale. All six principles could also be identified and critically analyzed within his painting The Third of May 1808 which ultimately resulted in a whole cohesive composition. Goya s use of the principle of art design, unity is evident as the shapes and sizes he painted in The Third of May 1808 are easily recognizable when looking at the prisoners and soldiers, the viewer can notice that all the human bodies represent mass equally in the painting. Unity is defined as a method of organizing artwork to bring all the parts together to make one integrated whole by repeating elements in it. Furthermore he adds ... Different legal traditions in the world have given a different meaning of this concept by following one of the two legal systems: a civil law system and a common law system. In an adversary system the judge and jury as decision makers have a passive role in investigating and gathering evidence and are responsible solely in deciding the case. In contrast, in an inquisitorial system the judge holds a very active role in the process, by choosing which evidence to accept and applying the law to the evidence in deciding the case. Supporters of the adversary system consider this feature as an advantage because they believe that the justice is best achieved where the decision maker is neutral, passive and impartial in deciding the case. Distinction of roles between judges and juries is a further fundamental difference between the adversarial and inquisitorial systems. In an adversarial system, there is a division of work between a judge and jury. The role of the judge is to adjudicate the issue of law and to ensure that the trial proceeds comply with the procedural and substantial laws, while the role of the jury is to adjudicate the issue of facts as served by the opposing parties based on the law given by judges. Generally, a judge will not interfere in jury s decision making, but this approach varies subject to matters being decided in the criminal or civil cases. The only way we can know things for certain is through doubting the things we think we know, also known as skepticism. In this paper I will argue that skepticism is the best way to know things for certain because it acknowledges the presence of cognitive dissonance, self justification and the things we can learn by questioning. I will proceed as follows: I will outline the concepts of skepticism, according to Carol Tavris and Elliot Aronson, and the concepts of rationalism, according to René Descartes. Then, I will compare rationalism and skepticism by explaining how challenging the ways we think we know stuff and cognitive dissonance can affect how we perceive things through skepticism and describing Descartes many principles based off of reason and how he uses these reasons to slowly affirm the things we must know for certain through rationalism. Epistemology is the study of how we attain knowledge or why we believe stuff in the way we do. There are many branches in epistemology to explain how we learn and comprehend things, but also how we can know things for certain. Skepticism, a concept within epistemology, is a way we know the things we do with certainty. By using doubt and questioning how we perceive things, we can examine the validity of the knowledge and ideas that people seem sure of or believe must be true. By assessing things skeptically, it allows us to comprehend that ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

For her, these new parties are good for the democracy because they enrich and enhance the legitimacy of the political and electoral system. She assumes that the primary link between state and society are the parties and its accountability impact on the institutions. She proves that the crisis of the traditional parties and the transformation of the historical electoral constrains were determinant factors that contributed to ethnic party formation and consolidation. The primary ones are the result of several years of field work in situ in the mentioned countries, except Argentina; and the secondary ones are an exhaustive review of the scholarly over democratic regimes and electoral systems, political parties and ethnic parties, and social movements in the international and national levels. While doing this, she builds her own basic category of analysis: the ethnic party. An ethnic party is defined as any political organization with a strong ethnic component: ethnic leaders, majority of ethnic members, or have ethnic or cultural related core demands. Within these strictures, she explores intrinsic and external reasons for party formation. When the indigenous communities realize that they could keep their traditions, their land, and basically, their autonomy, and at the same time be politically independent not a convenient minority for the left or for the dominant parties; they were internally ready to face the changes coming from the outside. This consolidation process takes approximately four to ten years when the social movement shapes itself and recognizes its capacity and political possibilities. The term itself references England s manufacturing industries throughout the 1800 s. In English factories immigrants would perform monotonous actions for long hours and meager pay. The plot follows Kōsei Arima, Kaori Miyazono and Tsubaki Sawabe as they face teenage problems in love, music, and health. This anime is by far the most depressing series I have ever watched. It s not just sad, it s depressing. It s like watching a group of cursed kids going through traumatic events that will likely make them the most miserable adults possible. The series started with the potential of being one of the great tear jerkers, but they forgot how to give something resembling happiness to keep the story in the light. At times, it feels like the story, and the characters, are about to emerge from the shadows, only to be pulled back deeper, like a swimmer caught in the ocean desperately trying to reach shore as it s swept further away by each crashing wave. Due to the constant dark nature of the story, I found the scenes that should have been emotional just blended into the rest of the story, resulting in a story with very little emotional impact. Although, the final two episodes were so emotional that they cut right through all that sadness, which should tell you how fantastic they were. The boxes of tests are then delivered to the testing closet where they are counted and checked in their designated area. This closet is locked all the time and only the principal has keys to it. The teachers were responsible to come to the testing closet to collect their materials. The principal was responsible to make sure that staff members sign out their bins and that all their materials are in the bin. Reflection As I reflect on state standardized test, I realize that budgeting extra time is always necessary. While all PARCC tests have enough time, there was a day where one 8th grade class started late and had technology issues. This caused a delay in lunches being served to the students. There was also another issue with the technology in general. Many computers did not load the tests as there was a JAVA update that needed to take place. There was also the issue with having the tests spread out over 7 days and the whole school testing window over a month. The vision is to have the students test on mine net books and I pads. While many schools do go that approach, I find that we would have to teach our students how to use these tools first prior to the test. This would take always instructional time. While we have ample computer labs to accommodate 6 classes at one time, it would cause a hardship on the schedule. I would prefer to ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 39. What Happens When A Soccer Ball Bounces 1.0 Background Theory 1.1 Introduction This investigation aims to determine the relationship between air pressure and the bounce height of the ball, and what material (material of a basketball, volleyball and soccer ball) is best suited for a ball in order for it to achieve its greatest bounce height. 1.2 Research Questions 1. How does the air pressure inside a ball influence the bounce height/vertical motion of that ball? 2. How does the material of a ball affect the bounce height/vertical motion of that ball? 1.3 Theory 1.31 Air Pressure Air pressure can be defined as the force applied by air molecules on the surfaces in and around an object, and is measured in Pascals one Newton per square metre (Pa) or pounds per square inch (psi). ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The velocity of the ball increases in the opposite direction as it has started to rebound from the ground with acceleration still pointing up (see Figure 5). This also means that the elastic potential energy is transferring into kinetic energy, although the kinetic energy will be less than previous because some of the energy has been lost to generate heat and sound when the ball lands and deforms. Due to the loss in energy, the ball will not return to its original drop height and creates a bounce height. Figure 5: Stage 5 (Real World Physics Problems, 2016) 6. The ball is now just touching the surface so it has returned to its original shape so all the elastic potential energy has been transferred back into kinetic energy again (see Figure 6). The only force acting on the ball now is gravity, so the acceleration has changed back to its original direction and its velocity is decreasing. Figure 6: Stage 6 (Real World Physics Problems, ... • 40. Discuss the Minority Presence in Contemporary British Art... Minority Presence in Contemporary British Art Highly visible yet evasively mute. Art critic Kobena Mercer, comments on the current position of African and Asian artists in Contemporary British Art, when he suggests that minority artists are seen and not heard. This oxymoronic position derives from a long historical legacy of European colonization and the emphasis on racial inferiority and otherness. On the one hand, British art is progressive, allowing some minority art in the general art world. Yet on the other hand minority art is still marginalized by the preferential treatment given to white artists. There is a strong degree of accuracy in Mercer s statement because while minority art can now be seen, the voice is ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The yBa movement is said to establish new ideas of Britishness in a postmodern world. Yet, Mercer goes so far as to say that the movement is in part a reaction to the attempt to globalize the British art world: At this stage it is precisely the discrepancy between parochial yBa inwardness and the art world internatialism that obliges us to interrogate the ideology of New British Art as a defensive, and, above all, regressive response to the bewildering effects of globalization The important art (as seen by Saatchi and The Tate) returns to a concern with British identity that fails to comment on how diversity has changed that identity. By turning inward as a reaction to globalization, British art regresses and fuels a return to white dominance. As a result, multicultural art lacking Western referents become suppressed. While there are movements to prevent this subordination of multiculturalism, their range of influence is limited. The Institute of International Visual Arts (inIva) was founded in 1994 and its major goal is to bring artists from culturally diverse backgrounds to the attention of mainstream British culture. However, while their success has been praised on a global level, locally they are largely overlooked. The major art insitutions refuse to recognize artists whose thematic concentration does not ... The time of day you are the beach changes the entire experience itself. It can switch from a relaxing day soaking up the sun to virtually being in the middle of a beach brawl. The craziness of ocean city never appears to end. After traveling for 3 hours, my family arrived at our beach house in Ocean City Maryland. After making a quick trip for groceries, we decided to go to bed and set alarm clocks for early in the morning. After a good nights sleep, I woke up to the pleasant smell of bacon and eggs. After feasting on a delightful breakfast, my brothers and I began to get ready for the beach. We went down the creaky wooden stairs of our beach house and unlocked the storage room located beneath the home. I decided to carry both of the floral umbrellas while my brothers took the portable beach chairs. After grabbing all of our gear, we headed back up the weathered stairs and towards the distant sand dunes. As we approached the entrance of the sand dunes, the satisfying sounds of the ocean s waves started to become closer and closer. Once we traveled closer, the vivid orange sun began to ascend from the deep sea. At this early point in the morning, the sand walkway enclosed by dunes, hadn t heated up from the sun, so the sand had a soothing feeling of cool sand between each toe. Upon reaching the shore, we noticed that not many beachgoers had set up their ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 44. Biblical View On Homosexuality And Religion Biblical view on Homosexuality In the bible God divinely established the institution of marriage, and this is seen in the garden of Eden during creation. Marriage was a special gift to man from a loving God before the fall that led to evil and pervasion entering the spiritual world of man. Marriage was designed by our creator to give satisfaction to a person s deepest longings for intimacy, love, appreciation and care. The views of marriage between Christians and Jews are fundamentally different and show the different ways that they view the world in relation to how they interpret their own doctrine and how these views are changing over time. According to the Christian doctrine, reasons why people get married and traditional marriages are becoming diminished at a faster rate than ever as the culture changes. This is very true for contemporary culture, law, and society. A growing influence in secular ideologies and practice are undermining biblical standards in family relations and sexual morality. Marital unfaithfulness, spousal abuse, sex before marriage, cohabitation, pornography, and promiscuity; these among other liberated lifestyles of married couples are bringing down the intuition of marriage. Moreover, alternative sexualities like homosexuality included and other varieties of transgender identities are becoming increasingly mainstream. In the course of years, the strict Christian community and Orthodox Judaism have responded to this rapidly changing landscape ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

In order to keep balance and harmony in Yoruba world, some pre eminent people, usually leaders or rulers have to sacrifice themselves on behalf of the community. This notion is reflected in Death and the King s Horseman; Elesin Oba, the King s Horseman, who has been extremely honoured as a great chief as well as the King s close friend, has to join the dead king in his journey to the world of the ancestors; by so doing, he brings the world of gods and ancestors closer to that of the living. Consequently, he maintains balance and harmony in the Yoruba world and thus makes for its well being. Elesin adopts all Yoruba beliefs and has faith in all its values and duties. He is the embodiment of the culture of his people and as such he has an awful responsibility. It is quite simply that on him depends the future, on him depends the existence itself (Bowman 89). Elesin has to play the heroic role played by Ogun in order to bridge the gap between man and the gods. He has to cross the dangerous abyss between the world of the living and that of the ancestors but this demands a strong will as that of Ogun. River Town is more or less a journal of what it was like being in Fuling on a day to day basis. He illustrates his experience through stories of trips he took, people that he became close with, and situations that required an open mind. Peter s job was teaching English literature at a small college in the town; and through this was able to learn both about the tightly controlled nature of being a foreigner in China, as well as some of the thoughts of the younger generation through various assignments. He was greeted as a hero and was lavished upon, but at the same time found it very difficult to be accepted by the locals, cadres or not. Many hot topics were addressed, from the Cultural Revolution under Mao Zedong, to the independence of Taiwan. It is amazing how nationalized China is and how standardized thinking is there. To the people there; Mao is good because he is a revolutionary, and Taiwan is bad because they should be part of China. Everything is simplified into this style of thinking and debate is not a valid avenue for students (or teachers for that matter) to take. • 51. Money Can Buy The Pursuit Of Happiness MONEY When it comes to the topic of money granting happiness, most of us readily agree that it can because it gives us status, value, and happiness in society s modern culture. Where this agreement usually ends, however, is on the question of money not being able to buy the pursuit of happiness. Whereas some are convinced that money grants once in a lifetime experience, medical help for loved ones, and pleasurable life necessities, others are convinced that they don t need money to be happy and would rather be poor and happy than rich and miserable. Money is used for buying, giving, and having fun with it. Money is everything in today world, and not a lot of people have money so there chances of being happy is very unlikely. According to John Grohol Psy. D, a researcher and writes about mental health psychology and technology issues, states, Money can buy you happiness as long as you give some of the money away, or use it for an experience rather than buying a product because as you may not be aware of, recent studies have shown that we are generally happier when we spend money on experience (Grohol 1). To me money can buy you happiness because it changes our mood and how we feel because it s undeniable. I also concord with John when saying we should give some money away. For example, give some money to charities or to unfortunate people because some people need it more than we do. It will basically make us feel happier at the end of the day. To me, if you have ...
