Hieroglyphics Research Paper
There are seven hundred different symbols in hieroglyphics. In fact, the ancient egyptians didn t even
use punctuation to separate the end of sentences and words. They also didn t place spaces after each
word like we do in english. Another unique thing about the ancient egyptians was that they didn t use
vowels when translating or writing with hieroglyphics. Another scribe based off of hieroglyphics was
known as hieratic writing. Hieratic writing was a simplified version of hieroglyphics. Hieratic is
almost like using abbreviations like we do now while texting or writing quick notes to friends. It
simplifies the complex drawings of hieroglyphics. In this writing form it also uses a form of cursive.

This random sampling error indicated that there was no cross section of the target group (generation
Y) and in turn was a sample selection error. There were 3 respondents whose results were not
analyzed, as they did not fall into the target group of generation Y and this was an administrative error.
This is another common research problem is survey non response. Marketers can unintentionally
design surveys which many customers choose not to respond to.
Survey bias is the next potential survey research problem that can be likely to occur. In survey
sampling, bias refers to the tendency of a sample statistic to systematically over or under estimate a
population parameter. At the time of the survey, we are to assume that the chosen sample is the
representation of the Gen Y population and that information provided by the respondents is both
accurate and honest. It appears that there was a response bias due to the unconscious
misrepresentation and misplacement of the Pepsi logo at the top of the survey. This was inadvertent
but may have led to a response bias where the respondents appeared to have been influenced by an
auspices bias a bias in the responses of subjects caused by their being influenced by the organization
conducting the study (Zikmond et all, 2011).
This survey was conducted at a local supermarket in South Australia. The survey was performed as a
voluntary activity and generation Y customers were not forced to

The Colonies And The New World

The Colonies
It all started in the 17th century, Europeans crossed the Atlantic to find the New World where they
could start their new lives and spread religion along with improving their status in life. It began with
Jamestown; now know as Virginia, when it became the first settlement that soon was established as
the first colony. Not too far long, pilgrims traveled to the New World and discovered Plymouth in the
colony of Massachusetts. As time went by, many disagreements over the boundaries of the colonies
rose and The French and Indian War broke out. After the war, England took control over the colonies
and was broken into 4 major regions The major regions were called New England, Middle,
Chesapeake Bay, and the Southern Colonies. Despite the location and area the colonies settled, each
colony had their own similarities and differences; thus, based on political, religious, self governing,
and land owning. These individual colonies declared independence from Britain and without a
hesitation, they broke out and each went their ways.
Four major colonies that made up New England were New Hampshire, Massachusetts Bay, Rhode
Island, and Connecticut Colony. Pilgrims, also known as puritans, left the Church of England to travel
to the New World in request of land and to have the choice of religion. The puritans then became
known as the separatists . Soon after, William Bradford and 67 migrants traveled from

Examples Of Plot Twist In A Story
Plot twist occurs near or at the conclusion of a story. It is an unexpected conclusion to a work of
fiction that causes to reevaluate the whole plot and characters. When a plot twist happens it changes
one s view of the preceding events, it is also known as a surprise ending or twist ending. It provides
ideas for unexpected turns in the course of narrative. O.Henry has profoundly used this technique in
almost all his stories. There are many mechanics by which twisted endings are created.

High Renaissance
The renaissance began in the early 1400s and ended around the early 1600s. During those time frames,
a reform happened. This reformed include art, architecture, writing and inventions which flowed from
northern Europe to western to the south and everything else in between. There were two different
types of renaissance, Italian and Northern Renaissance. The two pieces of art I will be forcing are a
part of the Italian Renaissance but have two different art movement, High Renaissance and Baroque
art.
Michelangelo s sculpture of David is considered part of the High Renaissance art movement. This
marble stature represent the biblical hero David which at the time was a favorite subject to paint or

The David of course has these characteristic in him but what about the sculpture of Saint Teresa? Well
she is technically a hero but she was a reformer in her time. As an audience member looking at
sculpture of Saint Teresa, you can tell Gian Lorenzo Bernini took his time sculpting her and the angel.
There is detail all around the sculpture; from the clothes both the angel and Saint Teresa, the wings
show the curls and the wings show true definition of feathers, and as well as the expression on both of
their faces ring through. Now David, there is definition of his muscle in the sculpture, the hair on body
looks like hair, and he look like a real life human.
A few things different that Saint Teresa sculpture had that the David sculpture had was the Teresa had
more drama and exaggerated motion with the sculpture. Which is one of the characteristic that was
different from high renaissance. David just showed himself looking in another direction standing up
right. The Teresa was in a matrix like pose with the angel in the sculpture standing there and hold
Teresa up by the inch of her clothing ready to enter the arrow through her

Persuasive Essay On Child Trafficking
The United Nation s convention on the Rights of the Child (UNCRC) categorically states that anyone
under the age of 18 is defined as a child with an exception, under the law applicable to the child, the
majority is attained (NSPCC, 2018).
Children rights is a huge factor which doesn t just affect just our society but in fact the entire world
and there are constant cases of children rights being breached and abused. This needs to come to a
stop as this is a horrific chapter in children s lives which can leave them in such horrible states and
possibly loss of life. I have chosen child trafficking because it is in my opinion the most horrific crime
that is unfortunately committed across the world and is constantly ongoing and as corrupt, disgusting
and inhumane as it is we remain to have large groups of children deal with this lifestyle all their lives
(Children s Rights, 2013).
Worldwide statistics reveal that each year around 150 million girls and 73 million boys are victims of
sexual abuse, (WHO, 2018). Human trafficking is without doubt part of the statistic which causes
unspeakable abuse on children and it is driven by profit from criminal business that stacks in a lot of
profit reaching almost billion dollars. One of the countries that have a huge problem with child abuse
is Thailand. In 2004, studies suggest that over eight hundred thousand child prostitutes in Thailand are
under the age of sixteen. Furthermore, in more recent studies it shows that 30 to 40 thousand

Essay On Psych Myths
There exists a prevailing myth that psychology is only a soft science. Soft science, indicating that the
practice of psychology is less rigorous, less precise, and, to some degree, less worthy than the hard
sciences chemistry, biology, physics. This study, conducted by Maureen A, McCarthy and Sue Frantz
called Challenging the Status Quo: Evidence that Introductory Psychology Can Dispel Myths ,
attempts to do just that. Their hypothesis was that when given the chance to take an introduction to
psychology course, participants would walk away with enough information to distinguish psych fact
from psych fiction. This would indeed prove how valuable of a science psychology is. In the study,
students enrolled in a community college were placed into two identical introductory psychology
courses. Over the course of the class, instructors taught a number of lessons that addressed popular
myths or stereotypes about human psychology and behavior. These included old adages such as

Snow House Descriptive Writing
My eyes flutter open lazily, as my slumber is interrupted by bright light, streaming through the
window. Slowly I swing my legs over the edge of my bed, toes searching for the soft carpet. Standing
on weary legs, I peer through the window to find a crisp white layer covering the grass. The sun is
gleaming brightly onto the newly fallen snow, causing a nearly blinding shimmer. Heading toward the
stairs my nose detects the sweet scent of a fresh batch of cinnamon rolls. My sluggish steps become
lively as I bound down the stairs into the aromatic kitchen. Studying the kitchen my eyes rest on the
clock which reads 8:30. Guess what honey! It s a snow day! My mother s words are like music to my
ears. As I sit down at the table, I spot ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

After finding the boots I dash to the hall closet, sifting through coats from previous years. At last I find
my new, pink, coat, along with my puffy snow pants. I step into my new winter gear and struggle to
pull the zipper with the bulgy, mismatched gloves, enclosing my little fingers. My attempt to leave
like this is quickly blocked by my mom, who insists that I need more layers. She tightly wraps a scarf
around my neck and face making it arduous to breathe. My mom takes a soft pink hat and tugs it
snugly onto my head, over my ears. She hands me my favorite sled, a pink and white, tie dye
toboggan. Once again I am ready to leave, but then my older brother Jackson yells, Wait for me! I roll
my eyes and slump uncomfortably onto the steps for what feels like an eternity before I hear my
brothers heavy boots stomping down the stairs. Finally we open the oak door and step foot into the
first snow of the year. The frigid air hits my face like a splash of cold water. The sun, though shining
brightly, seems to give off no heat around us. As Jackson and I make our way to the end of the
shoveled driveway, a snow plow drives by, forcing the snow off the street. We trudge forward leaving
behind footprints with each

Analysis Of The Book The Secret Life Of Bees
Reading Response Kaitlyn Baker
The Secret Life of Bees by Sue Monk Kidd
The biggest pull factor that brought me to reading The Secret Life of Bees, is the fact that it is set in a
time when racial separation was very much still alive in America. So when I began my journey on
reading the novel, it was quickly clear that I was going to thoroughly enjoy it. The story follows a
young white girl, Lily, whose life revolves around unravelling the faded memory of her killing her
mother, and her new life with her abusive father. It is the story of Lily blossoming into adolescence, in
a time where racial separation is still a big issue. Lily s journey to find something, anything, about her
mother s death is something I think is a large part of why this novel is so mesmerizing to read. Lily s
loyalty of trying to piece it together makes this story moving, but not depressing. I think it is uplifting,
full of heart, inspiring, and warm. I think Kidd, the author, has perfectly captured the awkward
restlessness of a teenager, longing for love, yearning to discover, but at the same time fearful of what
truth could emerge. Seeing Lily s almost desperate longing for any kind of a mother figure is
something that truly broke my heart. It made me think about how I am so blessed in my life to have
such a strong mother figure, and I hope no one has to go through life without some kind of motherly
guidance. I often got the feeling of Lily s deep desire for nurturance, which can be owed to the

Health Plan Recap My health plan was constructed while keeping my own specific health profile in
mind. As a mother of six, and one who developed on autoimmune disease, Dermatomyositis, seven
years ago, I confront problems which others developing their own plans may not. The disease, which
was successfully treated, nonetheless left a residue of chronic pain and fatigue, as well as depression,
symptoms which were partnered with Primary Biliary Cholangitis, another autoimmune disease I was
diagnosed with in 2015. This disease has resulted in additional pain. During the last few years of
struggling with these illnesses, I have added some extra weight. Despite the above difficulties, I plan
to exercise, eat better and reduce both my weight and my Body Mass Index. Not taking action is not
an option, as a Life Check Assessment test I took scored me at just 5.7 out of 10, and described my
health as one that was as at risk for diabetes and other problems. All research indicates that a clean,
healthy, low sodium diet, and regular exercise, would be a major boost to my health, and might even
help in the battle against the autoimmune issues I am currently engaged with. Research

Lydia Davis s Heart
In her poem Heart , Lydia Davis, depicts the struggle between emotions and consciousness in an
ordinary person life. This poem, HEART , has a way to show the audience in a simple way on how we
feel after a losing someone through death or when we are feeling strong emotions such as love and
hate. For example, in the first line Heart Weeps tells us that it s the beginning of a broken heart after
the loss of someone close whether because they died or ended a relationship. In the second line, Head
tries to help heart tells the audience that the heart and head struggle as they confront each other and

Descriptive Essay On The Night In The City
We would walk through the city every night. It would not be an 80 degree night, no, more like a 68
degree night, where all you need is warm sweater to shelter your kidneys. No wind, no rain, just the
empty air. You and I and the empty air. As much as we adored hanging out during the shinning days,
we always favored the night. The night had more intimate and exclusive qualities. The night has a
misty glow that makes the world shine in a way that the sun fails to achieve. The night conceals itself
behind an unlit cloak and requires effort to unravel the true beauty underneath. That s how it feels
existing around you. It s similar to having an exhausting day and all that is anticipated is the night.
You can stroll to relaxation and contentment. You are my night. When we are together, I suppose, it is
only for the moon to see. We would walk through the city every night, specifically on the sidewalk
and the rhythmic clicks of my boots echoed throughout the entire block. My boots wanted to show
you off to the entire city. Each click lets everyone know that I am with you and no one else. Each click
lets everyone know that I am confident and delighted when I am around you. Each click lets everyone
know that I am not ashamed of who I am around you. However, your shoes would not make any noise.
They never do. We would walk through the city every night at the same pace. Side by side, left foot,
then right, then left, and then right again. We are in harmony, yet relish the silence.

Essay about History of D-Day
History of D Day
During the 1930 s, isolationism and the depression swept through the
United States. But before the fall of France in 1940, the United States was
starting to pull away from being neutral, which they claimed at the beginning of
the European war.
Americans and the British would hold conversations between themselves
known as the ABC talks. It was there that they both targeted Germany as their
prime enemy. Even though there was tension in the Pacific in 1941, American
leaders had agreed that any war that was going to occur between Japan and the
United States had to be secondary. Our prime target was Germany, and that s
what we would focus on defeating.
Roosevelt soon concluded that ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
If the defeat of Germany was the objective, then the
mission was to attack at the heart of German power as early and as forcefully as
possible.
With this, careful consideration of Army mobilization and training, military
construction, naval and merchant shipbuilding revealed that the Army could
expect to go over to the offensive no earlier than July 1, 1943. Achieving the
necessary military conditions for attack, though simple to state, was more an
uncertain proposition. Wedemeyer suggested in his plan that no invasion of
Europe could succeed until the navies defeated the Axis fleets and secured the
Atlantic lines of communication.
The Allies however, had managed to take control of the air. They would
bomb Germany on a regular basis, this way Germany could keep down on their
production of war materials, and disrupt their economy.
Before the U.S had officially entered the war, plans existed for the defeat
of Germany. The plan heavily relied on an invasion of the continent of Europe,
in order to strike the heart of Germany. The U.S. sought to weaken their military
buildup, and heighten ours in Britain.
For a period of time, there was much contemplation of attacking Germany
from the Mediterranean, where the British had already been succeeding in
defeating the Germans. Americans had to reject the idea of the Mediterranean
approach due to the fact it was impossible to concentrate full Allied

Origin ( E.g Time, Place Of Beginnings )
Origin (e.g time, place of beginnings): The Inca was also known as Tawantinsuyu, first appeared in the
Andes region of South America throughout the 12th century A.D, the heterogeneous empire quickly
flourished through the military power of their emperors. They had their own culture and pantheist
beliefs up until 1438, however, the influences of past settlements and the following ninety five years
of expansion caused religious beliefs to change and develop significantly. The Inca conquered
neighbouring Andean regions which had their own set of religious beliefs, worshipped deities and had
unique practices. Nearly all Andean communities participated in the everyday worship of the forces of
nature (including rain, lightning, thunder, the moon and the rising of the sun each day) and venerated
the earth s physical features (such as snakes, jaguars, rivers and mountains). The peasants among each
allyu (a group of extended families) executed these practices for thousands of years. Each allyu
worshipped their ancestors, which they believed to originate from the natural world at sacred places
called huacas. The Incas built their own temples, sacred sites, took sacred relics from the locals and
held them in the sacred land Cuzco to encourage compliance with the Inca beliefs and accept the
supremacy of Inti (the most important Inca deity and sun god). Instead of forcing them to completely
convert to the Inca state religion, the Incas assimilated the deities, beliefs and culture of

Mount Rainier Research Paper
Mount Rainier is one of the most dangerous volcanic eruptions since it is still active and threatens the
surrounding area. Mount Rainier is a stratovolcano at Cascade Volcanic Arc.
By exploring the plate tectonic setting of the volcano from the website of Mozier and Graham, we can
aware that it is a subduction of the North America Plate and Juan de Fuca Plate (Mozier., Graham). In
addition, the stratovolcano has characteristics of high viscosity, volatile and large volume. So Mount
Rainier will have a relative explosive eruption. According to the research which made by USGS, we
can clearly know that there are two eruption types which are lava producing and explosive debris
producing are alternatively taking place (National Park Service). Due to the feature of activeness, it

Essay On Nursing Home Neglect
Most people dread nursing homes because it conjures up all types of negative images. Unfortunately,
many of the stories that we hear are true. Despite all the attention this issue has received recently,
neglect in nursing homes continues at an alarming rate. A large majority of nursing home residents
report some type of neglect every year. Tragically, only a few come to light as most seniors either do
not have the ability to communicate or are simply too afraid to speak up.
There are different types of nursing home neglect some of which include:
1. Medical neglect: This is said to occur when the nursing facility fails to meet or address the basic
medical concerns of the senior resident. For example, if the patient is diabetic, their blood sugar level
needs to be checked frequently. If this is not done, there is a risk that the patient may go into a coma.
Similarly, if a resident presents with symptoms of vomiting, severe abdominal pain, fever, and
diarrhea, it is important to take this condition seriously and to transfer the patient to the nearest. If the
staff does not monitor or cater to these medical situations, they are neglecting the patients.
2. Failure to meet basic living needs: Some nursing homes fail to meet the basic living needs of the
resident. For example, the resident is left in bed with soiled diapers for several days or is not provided
with an adequate amount of food or water, this type of treatment is against basic humanity. There are

The way you look at someone can communicate many things, including interest, affection, hostility, or
attraction. Eye contact is also important in maintaining the flow of conversation and for gauging the
other person s response. Gestures are woven into the fabric of our daily lives. We wave, point, beckon,
and use our hands when we re arguing or speaking animatedly expressing ourselves with gestures
often without thinking. However, the meaning of gestures can be very different across cultures and
regions, so it s important to be careful to avoid misinterpretation. For example, in American culture
agreement might be indicated by the head going up and down, whereas in India, a side to side head
movement might mean the same thing. We also look to posture to provide cues about the
communicator; posture can indicate self confidence, aggressiveness, fear, guilt, or anxiety. Consider
how your perceptions of people are affected by the way they sit, walk, stand up, or hold their head.
The way you move and carry yourself communicates a wealth of information to the world. This type
of nonverbal communication includes your posture, bearing, stance, and subtle movements. Tactile:
We communicate a great deal through touch. Think about the messages given by the following: a firm
handshake, a timid tap on the shoulder, a warm bear hug, a reassuring pat on the back, a patronizing
pat on the head, or a

Bubonic Plague Bacteria
Bubonic Plague Rough Draft
I chose this bacteria because we learned about it last year in Social Studies. I already had some
knowledge about the bacteria so it stood out to me when I tried to think of a cell/bacteria/virus/ to
write about. One thing I found interesting about the bubonic Plague was that i thought it was a virus
but I saw something that said to use antibiotics if you get infected. I thought that was weird since
antibiotics kill living things and viruses aren t living, so I looked it up and I saw that it is actually a
bacteria.
The Bubonic Plague struck out in Europe in about 1347. The reason behind the plague was because
people would only shower once a month, driving in rats that had fleas that carried the Bubonic Plague.
The Bubonic Plague, also known as Black Death, affects the Immune System. Thus, creating many
malfunctions that hurts the body. Yet, antibiotics and vaccines can stop this harmful bacteria, if not
given treatment in the beginning your Immune System will shut down
The Bubonic Plague is a bacteria that affects the Immune System. The role of the Immune System is
to protect the body against harmful diseases that could potentially damage or threaten the body. The

Essay ECON 1203 STATS REPORT
2014
Executive Summary
This report attempts to analyse and summarise the research and data given by Business Analytics
Department (BAD) in order to aid us in evaluating the performance of the new DGHG business
venture known as the holiday resort of CCResort.
Based on the data given by BAD, 200 recent customers data were examined and these were the key
findings:
CCResort aims to be an upmarket complex and has achieved this, as the majority of customers (69%)
earn more than $100,000
Almost half of the customers were aged between 40 and 54
The vast majority of booking parties consisted of groups of two or four which is reflective of the
dominant 40 54 age as this could represent couples and young families.

As accentuated through the diagram all averages for each length of stay is lower than $255.
Figure 7: Scatter Plot showing corelation between expenditure length of stay
Both figures 6 and 7 emphasise a strong correlation coefficient between expenditure and length of stay
(0.91) which entails a positive linear relationship between the 2 variables. This implies that
expenditure will increase accordingly as length of stay also rises. Other variables such as age and
people have a lower correlation and hence a weaker relationship. It would be wise for DGHG to
encourage people to stay for longer to increase their expenditure.
Analysis of Key KPIs
First KPI: more than 40% of customers stay for a full week
We have to use Central Limit Theorem (CLT) as n = 200, is quite large. Under CLT, we establish that
the sample distribution of a sample proportion is approximately normal.
Utilising:
Null Hypothesis: more than 40% of customers say the full week
Alternative hypothesis: Less than 40% of customers stay the full week
Assumption of a significance level of 5%
Procedure: First, Establish H0 and H1
H0: p 0.4
H1: p 0.4
Then, Establish rejection region

The Swag Contests
The things that I thought worked for the program was that the kids were all welcomed with open arms
and enthusiasm, which helped them to feel comfortable and excited about the activities of the day.
They were able to arrive and have something to eat before starting the day. The opening ceremonies
each morning gave structure and allowed the students to know what they could expect during the day.
The reflection time allowed the kids to have quiet time or time to burn off their excess energy by
playing basketball or football out in the grass areas. I think the guys truly enjoyed the time playing
sport and could see that college life can include both academic and recreational activities. It was nice
to display both arenas to them. The swag contests

Where Tech Savvyness Ends And Where Being A Geek Begins
As we move further and further into a more technological age, lines begin to blur between where tech
savvyness ends and where being a Geek begins. I have been working with computers since I was 8
years old. I remember the good old days where I would sit there with my dad watching him play Zork
for hours on end. In fact that game is one of the reasons I started writing. This was in the mid to late
80 s and the machines had no hard drives and ran completely off of 5 1/4 inch floppy disk s. This was
all fun and games, but I didn t learn much from the experience. I did however learn to maneuver
through the DOS operating system as well as how to execute programs. My real experience didn t start
till around June of 1992. I live in the San Bernardino California area. If you know any history of the
area, in June 1992 there was a massive 7.3 earthquake that shook San Bernardino quite harshly.
Shopping malls all around the area had the roofs cave in. This was a great tragedy but for us a great
learning experience. Because of the earthquake the malls were forced to send all of their computer
equipment to the land fills for insurance purposes, wither they were damaged or not. This is where my
real experience started. My father brought home three PC s that looked more like junk than computers.
With a bit of elbow grease we were able to salvage parts from one of the PC s and get the other two
working. The obviously more powerful PC my dad decided to keep for himself and I got

Electronic Cigarette Essay
FDA s Division of Pharmaceutical Analysis conducted repeat testing of three different cartridges with
the same label and found nicotine levels varying from 26.8 to 43.2 μg nicotine/100 mL puff ( Vaping

Children are affected by e cigarette use in the same way. In fact, Supporting Regulation of Electronic
Cigarettes explains how the exposure to the substance affected many children. (Supporting Regulation
of Electronic Cigarettes). Between 2011 and 2012, the number of child poisoning due to e cigarettes
tripled (over 1,300 of children suffered this type of poisoning) ( Supporting Regulation of Electronic
Cigarettes ). If electronic cigarettes are not limited, then the death rate will continue to increase. This
other quote proves once again of how e cigarettes are not so healthy for citizens in terms of infants.
Similarly, a child playing with an e cigarette could be exposed to nicotine from the device or from
nicotine refill bottles, which contain a concentrated liquid to fill e cigarettes and can easily be ordered
online (Cyrus K. Yamin, E Cigarettes: A Rapidly Growing Internet Phenomenon ). ... Show more

The Effect Of Fracking On The United States Economy And...
Greed is a bottomless pit which exhausts the person in an endless effort to satisfy the need without
ever reaching satisfaction (Erich Fromm).
Introduction
Fracking is a complex political topic; nonetheless, fracking is showing a positive impact on the United
States economy and leaving a harmful footprint behind the environment. In addition, consumers are
experiencing a significant amount of savings due to the overwhelming supplies of oil; thus, the
revolution in new technology is triggering an improper fracking system that contributes to airborne
pollution and water contamination. Higher authorities should implement the concepts of sustainability
and ethical views of large corporations and businesses to protect the consumer s safety.
Political Views
Oil suppliers dig deep down to the roots to analyze and derive concrete solutions to carry on the rising
market. The force of fracking in the United States is lifting the economy; the system has been a
political game changer for the nation, creating job opportunities and investing money into the
community. The United States is currently capable of competing with the global marketplaces at a
high rate. This coordination leads to knowledge for on shoring manufacturing, which eliminates the
dependency on foreign oil. This significant groundwork is driving opportunities for innovators. The
abundant supply of oil and the inexpensive cost leads to cheaper energy for consumers (Dews, 2015).

The Goal By Eliyahu M. A Brief
I chose to read the book, The Goal by Eliyahu M. Goldratt. The book is about a plant manager, Alex
Rogo, who is trying to save his plant from getting shut down by using the help of physicist, Jonah, and
the Theory of Constraints. I can see the benefits of this book in different areas, not only in the ability
to increase productivity in any company, but also using the ideas in all other areas of your life. I
personally had a difficult time understanding this book. It took me reading it, then going back and re
reading part of it, to really understand how to apply the concepts. However, I do finally get it. The two
key things that I enjoyed about the book are dependent events in relation to statistical fluctuations and
bottlenecks vs non bottlenecks. When reading the chapter about dependent events in relation to
statistical fluctuations , Goldratt use the example of a Boy Scouts hiking trip, where the slowest boy
was in the back, and one of the faster boys were in the front. One would think that this was a great
idea and would help them get to their destination fast, but in reality it did the exact opposite. It made
the process much slower, because the boy in the front set the pace for the rest of the group, but
because the rest of the group had slower paces, they were unable to keep up with the demand, if you
will, which resulted in a gap in the line. These gaps in the line caused the last person in the line, which
happened to be Alex, to have to wait on the rest of

  • 2. Hieroglyphics Research Paper There are seven hundred different symbols in hieroglyphics. In fact, the ancient egyptians didn t even use punctuation to separate the end of sentences and words. They also didn t place spaces after each word like we do in english. Another unique thing about the ancient egyptians was that they didn t use vowels when translating or writing with hieroglyphics. Another scribe based off of hieroglyphics was known as hieratic writing. Hieratic writing was a simplified version of hieroglyphics. Hieratic is almost like using abbreviations like we do now while texting or writing quick notes to friends. It simplifies the complex drawings of hieroglyphics. In this writing form it also uses a form of cursive. After the creation of hieratic writing ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

This random sampling error indicated that there was no cross section of the target group (generation Y) and in turn was a sample selection error. There were 3 respondents whose results were not analyzed, as they did not fall into the target group of generation Y and this was an administrative error. This is another common research problem is survey non response. Marketers can unintentionally design surveys which many customers choose not to respond to. Survey bias is the next potential survey research problem that can be likely to occur. In survey sampling, bias refers to the tendency of a sample statistic to systematically over or under estimate a population parameter. At the time of the survey, we are to assume that the chosen sample is the representation of the Gen Y population and that information provided by the respondents is both accurate and honest. It appears that there was a response bias due to the unconscious misrepresentation and misplacement of the Pepsi logo at the top of the survey. This was inadvertent but may have led to a response bias where the respondents appeared to have been influenced by an auspices bias a bias in the responses of subjects caused by their being influenced by the organization conducting the study (Zikmond et all, 2011). • 4. The Colonies And The New World Sarah Gomez Professor Shane West HIST 1301 22 September 2014 The Colonies It all started in the 17th century, Europeans crossed the Atlantic to find the New World where they could start their new lives and spread religion along with improving their status in life. It began with Jamestown; now know as Virginia, when it became the first settlement that soon was established as the first colony. Not too far long, pilgrims traveled to the New World and discovered Plymouth in the colony of Massachusetts. As time went by, many disagreements over the boundaries of the colonies rose and The French and Indian War broke out. After the war, England took control over the colonies and was broken into 4 major regions The major regions were called New England, Middle, Chesapeake Bay, and the Southern Colonies. Despite the location and area the colonies settled, each colony had their own similarities and differences; thus, based on political, religious, self governing, and land owning. These individual colonies declared independence from Britain and without a hesitation, they broke out and each went their ways. Four major colonies that made up New England were New Hampshire, Massachusetts Bay, Rhode Island, and Connecticut Colony. Pilgrims, also known as puritans, left the Church of England to travel to the New World in request of land and to have the choice of religion. The puritans then became known as the separatists . Soon after, William Bradford and 67 migrants traveled from ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

It is an unexpected conclusion to a work of fiction that causes to reevaluate the whole plot and characters. When a plot twist happens it changes one s view of the preceding events, it is also known as a surprise ending or twist ending. It provides ideas for unexpected turns in the course of narrative. O.Henry has profoundly used this technique in almost all his stories. There are many mechanics by which twisted endings are created. This reformed include art, architecture, writing and inventions which flowed from northern Europe to western to the south and everything else in between. There were two different types of renaissance, Italian and Northern Renaissance. The two pieces of art I will be forcing are a part of the Italian Renaissance but have two different art movement, High Renaissance and Baroque art. Well she is technically a hero but she was a reformer in her time. There is detail all around the sculpture; from the clothes both the angel and Saint Teresa, the wings show the curls and the wings show true definition of feathers, and as well as the expression on both of their faces ring through. Now David, there is definition of his muscle in the sculpture, the hair on body looks like hair, and he look like a real life human. • 7. Persuasive Essay On Child Trafficking The United Nation s convention on the Rights of the Child (UNCRC) categorically states that anyone under the age of 18 is defined as a child with an exception, under the law applicable to the child, the majority is attained (NSPCC, 2018). Children rights is a huge factor which doesn t just affect just our society but in fact the entire world and there are constant cases of children rights being breached and abused. This needs to come to a stop as this is a horrific chapter in children s lives which can leave them in such horrible states and possibly loss of life. I have chosen child trafficking because it is in my opinion the most horrific crime that is unfortunately committed across the world and is constantly ongoing and as corrupt, disgusting and inhumane as it is we remain to have large groups of children deal with this lifestyle all their lives (Children s Rights, 2013). Worldwide statistics reveal that each year around 150 million girls and 73 million boys are victims of sexual abuse, (WHO, 2018). Human trafficking is without doubt part of the statistic which causes unspeakable abuse on children and it is driven by profit from criminal business that stacks in a lot of profit reaching almost billion dollars. One of the countries that have a huge problem with child abuse is Thailand. In 2004, studies suggest that over eight hundred thousand child prostitutes in Thailand are under the age of sixteen. Soft science, indicating that the practice of psychology is less rigorous, less precise, and, to some degree, less worthy than the hard sciences chemistry, biology, physics. This study, conducted by Maureen A, McCarthy and Sue Frantz called Challenging the Status Quo: Evidence that Introductory Psychology Can Dispel Myths , attempts to do just that. Their hypothesis was that when given the chance to take an introduction to psychology course, participants would walk away with enough information to distinguish psych fact from psych fiction. This would indeed prove how valuable of a science psychology is. In the study, students enrolled in a community college were placed into two identical introductory psychology courses. Over the course of the class, instructors taught a number of lessons that addressed popular myths or stereotypes about human psychology and behavior. These included old adages such as Humans only use 10% of the brain, Individuals commonly repress the memories of traumatic experiences and People with schizophrenia have multiple personalities. Slowly I swing my legs over the edge of my bed, toes searching for the soft carpet. Standing on weary legs, I peer through the window to find a crisp white layer covering the grass. The sun is gleaming brightly onto the newly fallen snow, causing a nearly blinding shimmer. Heading toward the stairs my nose detects the sweet scent of a fresh batch of cinnamon rolls. My sluggish steps become lively as I bound down the stairs into the aromatic kitchen. Studying the kitchen my eyes rest on the clock which reads 8:30. Guess what honey! It s a snow day! My attempt to leave like this is quickly blocked by my mom, who insists that I need more layers. She tightly wraps a scarf around my neck and face making it arduous to breathe. My mom takes a soft pink hat and tugs it snugly onto my head, over my ears. She hands me my favorite sled, a pink and white, tie dye toboggan. • 10. Analysis Of The Book The Secret Life Of Bees Reading Response Kaitlyn Baker The Secret Life of Bees by Sue Monk Kidd The biggest pull factor that brought me to reading The Secret Life of Bees, is the fact that it is set in a time when racial separation was very much still alive in America. So when I began my journey on reading the novel, it was quickly clear that I was going to thoroughly enjoy it. The story follows a young white girl, Lily, whose life revolves around unravelling the faded memory of her killing her mother, and her new life with her abusive father. It is the story of Lily blossoming into adolescence, in a time where racial separation is still a big issue. Lily s journey to find something, anything, about her mother s death is something I think is a large part of why this novel is so mesmerizing to read. Lily s loyalty of trying to piece it together makes this story moving, but not depressing. I think it is uplifting, full of heart, inspiring, and warm. I think Kidd, the author, has perfectly captured the awkward restlessness of a teenager, longing for love, yearning to discover, but at the same time fearful of what truth could emerge. Seeing Lily s almost desperate longing for any kind of a mother figure is something that truly broke my heart. It made me think about how I am so blessed in my life to have such a strong mother figure, and I hope no one has to go through life without some kind of motherly guidance. I often got the feeling of Lily s deep desire for nurturance, which can be owed to the ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Health Pl Health Plans Essay Running head: HEALTH PLAN RECAP 1 HEALTH PLAN RECAP 6 Health Plan Recap Name University Health Plan Recap My health plan was constructed while keeping my own specific health profile in mind. As a mother of six, and one who developed on autoimmune disease, Dermatomyositis, seven years ago, I confront problems which others developing their own plans may not. The disease, which was successfully treated, nonetheless left a residue of chronic pain and fatigue, as well as depression, symptoms which were partnered with Primary Biliary Cholangitis, another autoimmune disease I was diagnosed with in 2015. This disease has resulted in additional pain. During the last few years of struggling with these illnesses, I have added some extra weight. Despite the above difficulties, I plan to exercise, eat better and reduce both my weight and my Body Mass Index. Not taking action is not an option, as a Life Check Assessment test I took scored me at just 5.7 out of 10, and described my health as one that was as at risk for diabetes and other problems. All research indicates that a clean, healthy, low sodium diet, and regular exercise, would be a major boost to my health, and might even help in the battle against the autoimmune issues I am currently engaged with. • 16. Descriptive Essay On The Night In The City We would walk through the city every night. It would not be an 80 degree night, no, more like a 68 degree night, where all you need is warm sweater to shelter your kidneys. No wind, no rain, just the empty air. You and I and the empty air. As much as we adored hanging out during the shinning days, we always favored the night. The night had more intimate and exclusive qualities. The night has a misty glow that makes the world shine in a way that the sun fails to achieve. The night conceals itself behind an unlit cloak and requires effort to unravel the true beauty underneath. That s how it feels existing around you. It s similar to having an exhausting day and all that is anticipated is the night. You can stroll to relaxation and contentment. You are my night. When we are together, I suppose, it is only for the moon to see. We would walk through the city every night, specifically on the sidewalk and the rhythmic clicks of my boots echoed throughout the entire block. My boots wanted to show you off to the entire city. But before the fall of France in 1940, the United States was starting to pull away from being neutral, which they claimed at the beginning of the European war. Americans and the British would hold conversations between themselves known as the ABC talks. It was there that they both targeted Germany as their prime enemy. Even though there was tension in the Pacific in 1941, American leaders had agreed that any war that was going to occur between Japan and the United States had to be secondary. With this, careful consideration of Army mobilization and training, military construction, naval and merchant shipbuilding revealed that the Army could expect to go over to the offensive no earlier than July 1, 1943. Before the U.S had officially entered the war, plans existed for the defeat of Germany. The plan heavily relied on an invasion of the continent of Europe, in order to strike the heart of Germany. The U.S. sought to weaken their military buildup, and heighten ours in Britain. Origin ( E.g Time, Place Of Beginnings ) Origin (e.g time, place of beginnings): The Inca was also known as Tawantinsuyu, first appeared in the Andes region of South America throughout the 12th century A.D, the heterogeneous empire quickly flourished through the military power of their emperors. They had their own culture and pantheist beliefs up until 1438, however, the influences of past settlements and the following ninety five years of expansion caused religious beliefs to change and develop significantly. The Inca conquered neighbouring Andean regions which had their own set of religious beliefs, worshipped deities and had unique practices. Nearly all Andean communities participated in the everyday worship of the forces of nature (including rain, lightning, thunder, the moon and the rising of the sun each day) and venerated the earth s physical features (such as snakes, jaguars, rivers and mountains). The peasants among each allyu (a group of extended families) executed these practices for thousands of years. Each allyu worshipped their ancestors, which they believed to originate from the natural world at sacred places called huacas. The Incas built their own temples, sacred sites, took sacred relics from the locals and held them in the sacred land Cuzco to encourage compliance with the Inca beliefs and accept the supremacy of Inti (the most important Inca deity and sun god). If you know any history of the area, in June 1992 there was a massive 7.3 earthquake that shook San Bernardino quite harshly. Shopping malls all around the area had the roofs cave in. This was a great tragedy but for us a great learning experience. Because of the earthquake the malls were forced to send all of their computer equipment to the land fills for insurance purposes, wither they were damaged or not. This is where my real experience started. My father brought home three PC s that looked more like junk than computers. In addition, consumers are experiencing a significant amount of savings due to the overwhelming supplies of oil; thus, the revolution in new technology is triggering an improper fracking system that contributes to airborne pollution and water contamination. One would think that this was a great idea and would help them get to their destination fast, but in reality it did the exact opposite. It made the process much slower, because the boy in the front set the pace for the rest of the group, but because the rest of the group had slower paces, they were unable to keep up with the demand, if you will, which resulted in a gap in the line.
