node with having the operator as the node value and pushed again into the stack. Since the backward
construction algorithm is recursive in nature, such a syntax tree makes it more suitable for the

Watch House Shift
On the 16th of February 2018, I participated in the Walk in Their Shoes Program and completed a
watch house shift at the Moonee Ponds Police Station. I reported to Acting Sergeant Jessica
GRAHAM who was my supervisor for the shift and worked alongside Senior Constable Michael
BECKER. These members provided me with insight and information on what a typical watch house
shift would entail.
Similarities between the roles of a PSO and police member include; their strong focus towards safety,
demonstrating a high level of communication, building community engagement by establishing
rapport with people in culturally and linguistically diverse backgrounds, deterring anti social
behaviour, dealing with people impaired by drugs and alcohol and responding to incidents and
emergencies.
Both roles are similar as they are constantly in the public eye and therefore, all members must share
the same principles to follow the core organisational values and ethics enshrined by Victoria Police.

Automated vehicles are important part of intelligent systems. The main goal of intelligent system is
introduce more automatic features in vehicles by adapting sophisticated control systems, sensors and
computers. These features may vary from vehicles , to a fully automated vehicle where the driver and
passengers are not part of the control system. Partially or fully automated vehicles may be part of
system architectures that include the highways.
Such architectures have been shown to have strong potential for dramatically increasing the capacity
of freeways[l 51 and improving the smoothness of traffic flows [5].
An important component of AVCS is to design control systems for controlling the throttle and brake
so that the vehicle can follow the speed response of the leading vehicle and at the same time keep a
safe intervehicle spacing under the constraint of comfortable driving [6].
Studies on automatic vehicle following go as far back as 1970 s [7 81 where throttle and brake
controllers were designed based on simple point mass vehicle models. More complicated vehicle
