He is also married to the Grammy award winning opera singer Hila Pittman and they have a son

music has harmonic flamboyance, amazing dissonance and crushing harmonic relationships and this is
why many people that sing in choir loves his music (Larson). His first choral composition Go Lovely
Rose incorporates many musical elements. When I first listened to this song, I was shocked by how
amazing it sounded, this is a very beautiful choral piece. The song is an acapella piece and he uses
very rich harmonies that switch from being consonant and dissonant. There are also parts of the song
when they sing in unison. One big element that he uses in this song is imitative polyphony. At the part
of the song when the choir sings Then died that she ,the soprano comes in then the alto then the tenor
then the bass and there are also other parts of this song where that occurs. He also used a lot of
dynamic contrast in this song. There were parts of the song where they would crescendo and
decrescendo and this would shape the phrases. The song utilized soft dynamics like pianissimo and
loud dynamics like

The Theme Of Love
What is love? Love is an emotion that cannot be seen, touched, or smelt. I is a feeling of passion,
affection, and fondness for someone or something. Love is simple, but the concept of love can be
complex and sophisticated. Love is an unpredictable emotion, it can cause happiness, sadness,
forgiveness and betrayal all at the same time. It can be what saves you or destroys you. Love is the
most powerful emotion a human being can feel, it can conquer hate, break someone s heart but most
importantly, love can change someone s life, for better or for worse. This essay will analyze the
significance of love between individuals through the social context, themes and other literary devices
used in the three major poems: My Last Duchess by Robert ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net

The poet, Robert Browning, incorporates other theatrical elements to further enhance the duke s
melodramatic thoughts and ideas. Browning uses an interior monologue which creates a stream of
consciousness of uninterrupted thoughts and feelings that is expressed to the audience. In comparison,
the dramatic monologue by Robert Browning was influenced by Shakespeare s use of the iambic
pentameter as it creates a natural rhythm. The poem is made up of heroic couplets which builds up a
rhythmic pattern. A matter of fact tone is used throughout the monologue, which could imply that the
duke believes that he knows everything and is always right. The whole poem is written in an urgent
continuous pace without any verses to show how the duke is in charge and in control. An obsessive
and jealous tone is used throughout the poem while describing his duchess s

Uses of Mobile Phones
USE OF MOBILE PHONES FOR WHO UNDER AGE 18 You can keep in contact with your friends

We should, however, guard against reading too much psychological significance into variations which
may be largely based on cost factors: it is perhaps no accident that those who tend to have relatively
lower incomes (teenagers, pensioners and women) show a preference for the cheaper option. When we
analysed the preferred medium of gossip by social class, we found that, indeed, the preference for
texting was somewhat higher among the lower income (C1, C2, DE) groups. Parent Communication *
One of the benefits of allowing cell phones in schools is that it allows parents to communicate with
children at any time. In the past, parents often never knew where their children were until they came
home. With cell phones, parents can check up on kids and arrange transportation or relay important
information if necessary. Read more: Advantages amp; Disadvantages of Allowing Cell Phones in

Phycyatrist Notes on Hazel Essay
Session One: Today I met Miss Hazel. She is a very sweet 13 year old girl. She was just diagnosed
with lung cancer and is being very strong for her and her parents. Her doctors made a miracle drug
discovery called phalanxifor and it has saved her life. She was very quite and exhausted which is
understandable considering she has just had the injections of the phalanxifor. She said she had the
injections put into her body to please her parents as well as coming to these sessions. She is very
irratated with her parents for making her come to these sessions and kept saying there was no use in
her being here. She is angry and overwhelmed by the whole situation. She concluded by saying that

She also looked quite tired, she needs to make sure she is getting enough rest. As said before rest heals
all and rest will help with her cancer and overall health. She needs more than anything social
interactions, not just support group but she needs her freinds and family surronding her.
Session Three: She came in today and was much more friendly and in a much better mood in
comparison to our last session. She said she went to support group and although she does hate it, she
didnt have a terrible time. She breifly mentioned meeting an interesting boy her age named Agustus
Waters. She seems to like this boy very much and was much happier talking about him than anything
else. She has been hanging out with more of her friends latley and has been getting lots of rest.
Whatever she is doing is working and she needs to keep it up.
Treatment: Keep hanging out with Agustus, he has a high impact on this sudden change in additude.
Keep going to support group, getting rest, she is due for another injection of phalanxifor and keep
being more social and active.
Session four: I hadnt seen hazel in about a month and right when she walked in I knew something was
different. She was smiiling very wide and was the happiest I had ever seen her before. She said that
she was doing amazing and that everything was really great as of right now. Her lungs of course, still

Burial Vs Cremation Research Paper
Although there are many ways to dispose of one s body when one dies, cremation is more logical than
burial; therefore, cremation should be more widely used rather than using burial as a way of disposal.
Throughout time burial has been the most common way of disposing of the body, but today the
expenses are getting to be outrageous due to the many processes that need to that take place prior to
the burial. In the article, The Cost of Cremation it says, The average cost of burial $7,500 not
including the cost for a casket, and the average cost for a cremation is around $2,000. This is showing
the significance in price range, highlighting that cremation is a cheaper decision. The amount of
money saved can have a huge impact on families and friends, easing the pain of a difficult event. It
could also allow the family to use the $5000 difference to do something, like a donation or foundation,
that would memorialize the loved one ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
With a burial spot, relocating for a new job would mean leaving the loved one and losing the ability to

can do with ashes once one has been cremated. In the article, Cremating Loved Ones, it states, There
are many things you can do with loved ones ashes, such as planting them as a tree, or helping to
rebuild the coral reef . These are just a few ways people can use one s ashes as a way of good, giving
the families comfort in knowing that they will always have their loved one with them, and not far

How would you feel being out at sea stuck on a lifeboat for 227 days with only zoo animals for

Bengal tiger weighing 450 pounds and about nine feet long. Life of Pi by Yann Martel starts off in
Pondicherry India with Pi Patel and his family, they then load some animals and themselves onto a
cargo ship on its way to Canada. After they are on the ship there is a malfunction on the ship and it

The impact on the characters especially the main ones such as Pi and Richard Parker, the relationship
between the setting and the mood and the change of setting and the overall effect show in different
ways the importance of setting in the telling of a story. In any story you read or tv show you watch
there is always a different and unique setting that helps to give depth and meaning to what the author
is trying to portray. If setting was not taken into consideration and things just happened in our
bedrooms or backyards it would make things very boring and confusing. If there was no setting at all
talked about in the book it would make it bland and wouldn t make you want to read it. As well you
wouldn t get that in depth understanding of the book. This is why setting is so key in any story but
specifically in Life of Pi because majority of the story takes place in different and important places

On How Brazil Positioned Itself as the 7th Largest Economy...
Introduction
Brazil with a population around 201,032,714, is the largest South America s country. Brazil s most
important components of its GDP are service revenues, wide industry sector and its successful
agriculture.
For More than two decades Brazil suffered badly from high inflation, economic decline, domestic and
foreign debt. In 1993 country s Inflation reached 30 percent a month and as a result the country
wouldn t sustain growth. After many unsuccessful plans to control the inflation, finally Real Plan of
Fernando Henrique Cardoso, minister of finance, worked out and brought the inflation down to a
single digit.
Today Brazil with a GDP of $2.533 trillion is the 7th largest economy in the world and it is also
considered as one of the most successful emerging countries. Despite all predictions, thanks to its
huge domestic market and agriculture, the country maintained its growth in 2009 and 2010.
The purpose of this paper is to demonstrate how Brazil, a country with an extremely high rate of
inflation and low growth, positioned itself as the 7th largest economy of the world and what are the
challenges that the country is facing. First of all the Real Plan of Fernando Henrique Cardoso and how
it helped the country to stabilize its economy and drop down the inflation rate will be discussed.
Secondly how his successor s policies, Luis Inácio Lula da Silva, improved country s economy. At the
end the challenges that Dilma Vana Rousseff, the current president, is facing

Daniel Chapter 3 Hebrew Men Analysis
In this essay I will be writing about The Three Hebrew Men. This story comes from the book of
Daniel chapter 3. It is about three men whose names were: Shadrach, Meshach, and Abednego.
The bible makes us to understand that the king of the Babylon empire at that time was king
Nebuchadnezzar. The story starts off when Nebuchadnezzar built a statute of Gold. Then he invited
important people from all over the land to come and see the statute that he built. Daniel chapter 3
verse 4 5 says: Then a herald cried aloud: To you it is commanded, O peoples, nations, and languages,
that at the time you hear the sound of the horn, flute, harp, lyre, and psaltery, in symphony with all
kinds of music, you shall fall down and worship the gold image that King Nebuchadnezzar has set up.
king Nebuchadnezzar had asked all the people who came to see the statue to fall down and worship
the statue. Meanwhile it is written in the bible that when the Israelites where in the wilderness God
gave them the 10 commandments. When king Nebuchadnezzar asked them to worship the image he
was going against one of the 10 ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
He said to them in chapter 13: Is it true, Shadrach, Meshach, and Abednego, that you do not serve my
gods or worship the gold image which I have set up? After he said that he gave them another chance to
bow to his image but Shadrach Meshach and Abednego refused again. They said to the king: O
Nebuchadnezzar, we have no need to answer you in this matter. 17 If that is the case, our God whom
we serve is able to deliver us from the burning fiery furnace, and He will deliver us from your hand, O
king. (Daniel 3:16 17). They replied to him with confidence. Hey refused to be moved by his threat
because they had hope in GOD. The believed that God would save them. This shows us that no matter
what threat we face we should always put our hope in the lord that we

Drivers in Aircraft Industry
➢ What do you consider as the most important drivers for the development and technology in the
aircraft manufacturing industry? Introduction The current aircraft manufacturing industry is lead by
three or four main manufacturing companies. The European company Airbus based in France, the US
American Company Boeing based on the West Coast of the US and not to forget Embraer with its
Headquarters in South America and Bombadier, homebased in Quebec, Canada. Reading that there are
only three companies in the marked, it could seem that there is hard but less competition as there is
lots of demand. The past few years have proven us wrong. The competition is very tough and each of
those named companies is fighting hard to acquire new ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Another significant factor that is connected to the fuel consumption is the emission control. 2% of the
global greenhouse emissions come from the CO2 emissions of aircrafts It does not seem a lot, still
regulators like the EU and government put a lot of pressure on airlines to reduce aircraft emissions by
charging by selling certificates. New technical developments are very much needed and also put
pressure on the manufacturing companies. The ETS (Emission Trading Scheme) will be implemented
in the year 2012 which will force some operators in making some significant changes in their fleet.
Emerging Markets The hubs of the world s economy have shifted recently and it will continue to
change. According to the economist, while 2009 the world s largest economy (based on the nominal
GDP in USD) is still the US, by 2029 the lead will be taken over by China. Another country that
should be kept clearly in mind is India. The countries economy is definitely on an upswing with a high
demand in the aviation sector. New airlines are founded like king fisher airlines as well as an
expansion of already excising local carriers. Forecasts show that the passenger traffic in emerging
economies will increase almost as 3 times faster as in the States or Western Europe. Those emerging
countries were also suffering form the financial crises in 2008 but their recovery was much faster than
in the rest of the world. Due to the population in especially China and India,

Warfare In Medieval Italy
Incessant Warfare In the 14th century, the northern Italy was divided into many conflicting city states.
The most powerful of these city states were Milan, Florence, Pisa, Siena, Genoa, Ferrara, Mantua,
Verona, and Venice. The Medieval Italy was then divided by a long battle for supremacy between the
Holy Roman Empire and the Papacy.
The Italian Wars: 1494 1559 The Italian wars are a series of wars for control over Italy that were
fought mostly by France and Spain. The violent wars began in 1494 with the invasion by Charles VIII,
King of France which devastated Northern Italy and ended the independence of many city states. He
conquered Naples but was soon drove out of the country Maximilian I of Spain and the pope of Rome.
Much of the area outside of Venice was then devastated in 1499 by the Turkish Invasion. King Louis

political situation in Italy in the 18th century was almost the same as it was in the 16th century. The
only difference was that instead of Spain ruling, Austria was now the dominant power after the War of
Spanish Succession. Another big difference was that the dukes of a mountainous region between Italy

He was the person who started the deadliest war in history which led to millions of fatalities. Hitler
was a part of the NAZI party. They party promoted German nationalism and anti semitism. Even
though he had committed all these evil acts, he still influenced people to come up with some good
changes in society. On Easter Sunday, April 20, 1889, Hitler arrived at 6:30 in the evening ( What Is
Known About Adolf Hitler s Childhood?). He was born to Alois and Klara Hitler in the town Braunau
am Inn, Austria. Alois was an Austrian customs official and he provided a comfortable lifestyle for his
family. He was always grumpy and had a terrible temper. He often took out his anger on his children.
Hitler s mother Klara was the complete opposite of Alois. Even though she dealt with an aggressive
and dominating husband, she was still very kind and caring towards her children . Adolf had five
siblings, but only one lived past their childhood ( What Is Known About Adolf Hitler s Childhood?).
His brother Gustav died at the age of two years old in 1887. His second brother Otto died before
reaching the age of one year old in 1887. His third brother Edmund died at the age of six years old in
1900. His first sister Ida died at the age of two years old in 1888. He did however have one sibling
who lived past their childhood. Her name was Paula Hitler, and she lived from 1896 to 1960, dieing at
the age of 64. Paula actually outlived Hitler by fifteen years. On January 3, 1903, when Hitler was
only fourteen, his father Alois died. On December 21, 1907, hitler s mother Klara died. Adolf Hitler s
childhood losses could have played a role in his later personality and style ( What Is Known About
Adolf Hitler s Childhood?). On June 28th, 1914, The war to end all wars began after the heir to the
Austrian throne, Archduke Franz Ferdinand, was assassinated by a young Serbian terrorist. Events
started to escalate quickly as Kaiser Wilhelm of Germany convinced Austria to declare war on Serbia.

Power Of Language Response Paper
Response Paper #2
In this section I will be exploring the themes Power of stories and storytelling along with Power of
language . Both of these themes interconnect with one another. Power of language is a very crucial
part of storytelling. Power of language has a great deal of influence in a story. The words authors
choses to use to tell a story leads the reader in a certain direction and emphasizes the important ideas
and information. Through the use of language in specific ways story tellers can manipulate
readers/audience to understand the story they are telling through a specific perspective, which is their
perspective. Manipulation of words can also lead one to believe that the story someone is telling them
is the reality, rather ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
In a specific example, in the short story Cities Memories 3 by Calvino, the author tells the story
through the use of personification, this is demonstrated through this quote The city, however, does not
tell its past, but contains it like the lines of a hand... (Calvino, 43). This quote also illustrates how
Reading Contextually is used in this short story. The author uses metaphor to tell the reader/audience
that the lines of one s hands are the streets in the city. Furthermore, when examining the theme of
Power of Language and The Power of Stories and Story Telling it is important to consider, who this
form of storytelling benefit? How does it benefit them? The way a story is told mainly benefits the
story teller. It helps the story teller tell their story and get the outcome or results they hope to see from
the reader/audience through the use of all the elements that have been discussed throughout. This is
exemplified through the social media today. The media reveals information to its audience in such
ways that people believe it to be the truth and they don t often question it. But what people fail to
realise is that there is always more to a story than what is just presented to you. Story tellers only tell
one side of a story from their

Essay about A Distinct Dialect-Hakka
Introduction to Hakka
The Hakkas are a unique ethnic group of Han Chinese. They are thought to be the earliest Han settlers
in China. One theory states that many of the early Hakkas were affiliated with the royal bloods. After
17 century, the sailing skill was improved and developed, therefore, about in the early Qing dynasty, a
lot of Minnan and Uedong people sailed across the sea to Taiwan. But Hakkas were much fewer than
Minnan people. There were two reasons: the first is that during the Kang Xi period, the Hakkas of
Chouzhou Fu and Huezhou Fu were banned from sailing across the sea to Taiwan because of the
prohibition; the other is supposed to be that most Hakkas living in the mountains were not familiar

academic act of copying and presenting someone s ideas, thoughts or words as their own without
clearly acknowledging the source of information. Question 1b: List the 5 common forms of plagiarism

The Properties of Tradition Metals Essay
Transition metals are a group of metals that are considered dense and have high melting and boiling
points. They are located between the alkaline earth metals group and the boron group. The transition
metals are characterized by the number of inner energy levels that are occupied by the atoms. They are
then separated into 2 groups: d type transition metals and f type transition metals. D type transition
metals are mostly consisted of important metals (commercially) and the rare and unimportant metals.
They are ranged from very reactive to noble. The metals in this group all form a variety of different

Although this may be a lot, there is a lot of gold in the rock veins. In fact, more than half of the world
s total production of gold is using vein mining. Gold has been used for medicine and dentistry can be
dated back for thousands of years. The earliest record of medical use of gold was by the Chinese in
2500 B.C. For dentistry, the earliest use would be for using gold wire to secure substitute teeth and
were used by the Etruscans. Since gold is malleable and resistant to corrosion, it is ideal to be used in
dentistry. Most of the 20th century, gold has been used in medicine. For example, medicines that treat
rheumatoid arthritis contain gold. It has also been used in the treatment of cancer. Gold is also used for
implants as well as treating facial nerve paralysis. Gold is ideal for implants because they are very
resistant to bacteria.
Lagophtalmos is the inability to close the eyelids completely. The word lagopthalmos comes from the
Latin word meaning hare. This is because like a hare, a person cannot close their eyes completely
during sleeping. This is caused by a facial nerve paralysis. The most common type would be Bell s
palsy vascular lesion. Blinking is an essential in keeping our body healthy. When blinking, the tear
film spreads over the ocular surface and allows for there to be moisture in the eye. When someone is
unable to close the eyelid, it can lead to many corneal problems like blindness, bacterial infection and
many others. Although there are

conveys a very powerful message to the public that cannot be ignored. The Confederate Defenders of
Charleston monument very clearly conveys a sense of power, but with more analyzation, a deeper
meaning is found through description, visuals, and appeals. Created by Herman A. MacNeil, the
statue, standing at thirteen feet tall, is a bronze statue that features a male warrior with a sword and a
shield protecting a woman behind him standing on a octagonal platform. Around the base of the statue

first thing noticed is the semi unclothed man with a shield and sword at the very front, and I feel that

Essay about Rational Choice Theory in Political Science
Rational Choice Theory in Political Science
According to one of rational choice theory s prominent and more thoughtful contemporary exponents,
Peter C. Ordeshook, four books mark the beginning of modern political theory: Anthony Downs s An
Economic Theory of Democracy (1957), Duncan Black s Theory of Committees and Elections (1958),
William H. Riker s A Theory of Political Coalitions (1962), and James Buchanan and Gordon Tullock
s The Calculus of Consent (1962). These volumes, along with Kenneth Arrow s Social Choice and
Individual Values (1951), began such a wealth of research that political scientists today have difficulty
digesting and synthesizing all but small parts of it. Consequently, the full value of this research often

First I will provide an overview of what rational choice theory is and why it has staked such a
prominent position in the discipline of political science. In this section I conclude that rational choice
theory has indeed developed advanced methodologies at telling us how rational agents should behave.
Then in my second section I will show, using the empirical case of the free rider problem and
collective action, as well as the case of suicide terrorism, that rational choice theory cannot adequately
account for actual political phenomena. In my third section I will provide some reasons for why this is
the case. Finally, in my concluding section I will posit a theoretical framework incorporating some
refinements to the assumptions behind rational choice theory that would better aid a predictive (but
not universalist) political science.
What is Rational Choice Theory?
Rational choice theory is actually more than one theory per se, but the basic similarities among its
variants mean that they can be intelligibly amalgamated for the purposes of critiquing its
implementation in political science. Therefore public choice theory, positive political science, rational
actor models, and the economic approach to politics, among others, refer to what we may call rational
choice theory for the purposes of this essay. (See Green and Shapiro 1994, xi.

Analysis Of Breaker Morant

during the Second Boer War, are put on trial, for murder, in a court martial (Breaker Morant). The
three men, Harry Morant, Peter Handcock, and George Witton are all accused of the murder of Boer
prisoners of war. In addition, Morant and Handcock are accused of murdering a German missionary,
Reverend Hesse (Breaker Morant). Their defense, Major Thomas, only had one day to prepare their
trial. Lord Kitchener, who ordered the trial, did so in order to show that he is willing to judge his own
soldiers harshly if they disobey the rules of war. Ultimately, he does this in the hopes that it will bring

Colonel Denny, supports this. However, there are immense complexities when it comes to charging
active duty soldiers with murder during battle. In the end, the defendants are found guilty of executing
the prisoners and are sentenced to death, but Witton s sentence was reduced to life in penal servitude
(Breaker Morant). This case often raises a debate about whether or not the men should have been
charged with murder during war time, when orders were not clearly defined. Based on Kant s
Categorical Imperative ethical model, if I was acting as the fifth judge in this case, I would find the
men guilty. This is because a person who utilizes the Kantian view believes that the only pure good is
pure human reason without consequences. This pure human reason works without the influence of
human emotions and desires. A truly good act, as defined by Kant, is performed because of an
obligation to the categorical imperative. Therefore, the objectives and personal agendas of the
individual performing the act must be kept separate. For this reason alone, Morant could have been
found guilty. He could have ignored the verbal orders to kill prisoners, or

advantages. But they also need lots of treatment. Mixes are less likely to many diseases than pure

were thought as strange and incapable of obeying and controlling themselves. They were left out of

Saul Bellow Seize the Day the Water Imagery
Water Imagery in Seize the Day
Saul Bellow s Seize the Day is one of the most profoundly sad novels to be written since Tender is the
Night. On this day of reckoning, during the seven hours or so that comprise the action of the novel, all
the troubles that constitute the present condition of Wilhelm Adler descend upon him and crush him,
leaving him penniless, alone, and in such profound misery that one can hardly imagine his going on.
He is, as he says, at the end of his rope. This has been one of those days, he says to his wife, May I
never live to go through another like it. We feel that he may not live at all, so great is his misery, so
completely has he been destroyed.

They were his brothers and sisters. He was imperfect and disfigured himself, but what difference did
that make if he was united with them by this blaze of love? And as he walked he began to say, Oh my
brothers my brothers and my sisters, blessing them all as well as himself.
Although such feelings never last long and are usually fled from rather than welcomed, on this day of
reckoning he remembers this experience and thinks, I must go back to that. That s the right clue and
may do me the most good. Something very big. Truth, like.
This affirmation, feeble as it is, constitutes his own dim recognition of the saving end of what more
often appears to him as a destructive element his own intensely emotional nature. He continually
blames his failures on his strong and often uncontrollable emotions; yet we are finally made aware
that it is just this capacity to feel, more specifically this need to love and be loved, that makes possible
the birth of Wilhelm s soul at the end of the novel. Ultimately, the clearest indication that the action of
Seize the Day is ironic is found in Bellow s attitude toward man s emotional nature, not just as
revealed in this novel but throughout his writing. That Bellow is in the tradition of the great English
Romantic poets Wordsworth in particular in this respect has been brilliantly argued by Irvin Stock in
[The Southern Review, Winter 1967].
Understanding the structure of Bellow s novel to be ironic, we are now able to state its major

To Sir John Lade On His Coming Of Age
Welcome to the grown up world of legal age. Experience life at its best with all your own bills,

outlook one can potentially take on life after turning 21, focuses on experiencing life at its best , yet in
the midst of being plagued by a number of new responsibilities such as bills and other problems. The
terse (PSAT Vocab) Happy Birthday at the end serves as a smart aleck method of introducing a new 21
year old into a true adult role, one with more responsibilities and worries than have been dealt with
before. Just like this quote, the poems To Sir John Lade, on His Coming of Age by Samuel Johnson,
and When I Was One and Twenty by A.E. Housman, embody messages of advisory to new 21 year
olds, embodying the new possibilities and freedoms, yet also detailing some cautions to take along
with new found responsibilities. Both of these works give counsel and warning about joys and
responsibilities of turning 21, however, Johnson s rendition mainly portrays the joys and excitement of
a gained freedom, while Housman stresses the importance of avoiding foolish mistakes such as
carelessly falling in love.

similar messages of advice and warning. The narrators in each of these works speak of a proverbially

his original lectures, Broadcast Talks (1942), Christian Behaviour (1943), and Beyond Personality
(1944) were compiled as one to make up the book currently known as Mere Christianity. C.S. Lewis
proves that at the center of each there is something, or a Someone, who against all divergences of
belief, all differences of temperament, all memories of mutual persecution, speaks ... Show more

Our bodies are governed by the law of gravitation and we cannot decide whether or not to obey this
law because it is just a matter of how the universe works but we each have the power of choice—the
ability to decide either to obey the Law of Human Nature or disobey it. We can recall the story of
Adam and Eve who had the choice to do what was right or wrong. Taking a look at Genesis 2:16, 17,
God commanded, You are free to eat from any tree in the garden; but you must not eat from the tree of
the knowledge of good and evil, for when you eat of it you will surely die. They proceeded to do what
they were told not too do, making use of their power of choice by disobeying, in the end leading to a
set of consequences which marked the beginning of sin.
C.S. Lewis makes his first argument by stating, First, that human beings, all over the earth, have this
curious idea that they ought to behave in a certain way, and cannot really get rid of it. Secondly, that
they do not in fact behave in that way. They know the Law of Nature; they break it. These two facts
are the foundation of all clear thinking about ourselves and the universe we live in (p.8). Even though
each culture is different each contains their own personal moral code, which in fact are all remarkably
similar.
Taking a look at book two we can tackle the idea of what Christians believe. Christianity can be
viewed as being something that is complex. At first it may seem simple, but C.S. Lewis puts it

Biological Altruism Is A Phenomenon Defined By French...
Biological altruism is a phenomenon defined by French philosopher Auguste Comte as behavior by an
individual that increases the fitness of another individual while decreasing the fitness of the actor. The
coinage of this term posed a difficult question to the field of evolutionary science, as it contradicted
with Charles Darwin s definition of the mechanism of natural selection. In The Origin of Species,
Darwin explains the mechanism of natural selection by stating that individuals having any advantage,
however slight, over others, would have the best chance of surviving and procreating their kind and

This is due to the selfishness that lies within human motives. By examining altruistic actions in
society, politics, and economics, we can determine that many acts of seemingly altruistic behavior are
driven by ulterior, selfish motives. During his 2012 presidential campaign, Senator Mitt Romney
released his 2011 tax forms under intense pressure and scrutiny from the Democratic Party and when
he did, many major news stations announced in bold headlines that Romney donated 29.4% of his
annual income to charities while Obama only donated 21.8%. This helped his campaign as republican
ideology states that if tax rates are lower, people will donate more money to charities of their own
choice. Republicans believe that this method is more efficient than taxes, as the government doesn t
dictate how much of whose money goes where, the people are the ones to decide how to donate their
money to whichever charity they choose. However, democrats urged the populace to scrutinize the tax
forms, as certain sections of the forms seemed dubious. Obama paid a rate of 26% federal income
taxes that year while Romney only paid a rate of 14%. As experts delved deeper into the forms, they
came to realize some facts that discredited Romney. Part of Romney s charitable donations were set up
as a Charitable Remainder UniTrust, a system for donations that was done away with in 1997 because

Essay about Women in The Workplace
Women in The Workplace
Gender plays a huge role in workplace success and can be a big challenge especially if the employee
is a woman in a male dominated workplace or career. No matter how hard nosed, ruthless, workaholic
a woman may be, or how much personal success she achieves, there will always tend to be some type
of obstacle to keep her from getting completely to the top of the corporate ladder. She must also still
fight stereotypes that undermines her confidence or limits her potential. Since the early 20th century,
women and minorities have sought equal opportunities in education and in the labor force with little
success. These obstacles or barriers are all known as the glass ceiling.

Every industry has its own version of an apprenticeship and the simple way to determine the boundary
of apprenticeship is to find where in a particular company or organization, the line is that must be
crossed before an individual is ?in the pack? to be considered for management or leadership.
According to the ?Sorcerer?s Apprentice to Through the Looking Glass,? women in every industry
and profession report that sexual harassment is most common during apprenticeship. Sexual
harassment is frequently defended as being just part of the normal hazing that is meted out to
apprentices. It is one of the most important mechanisms that implement the glass ceiling at the level of
apprenticeship. Although it may sound trivial to say that sexual harassment has a dramatically greater
effect on women than men, it is important to understand that its use may be the difference in how well
women perform during apprenticeship, and even whether they complete the apprenticeship at all.
One effective effort that an organization can make to eliminate the glass ceiling would be for an
organization to delineate its own apprenticeship, and pay particular attention to the fact that the
apprentices are almost certainly underreporting the problem of sexual harassment. This does not men

Essay On The Rebuttal Of The Single Story In Wide Sargasso...
The Rebuttal of the Single Story in Wide Sargasso Sea
Jean Rhys s iconic novel, Wide Sargasso Sea, is the compelling and unofficial prequel to Jane Eyre by
Charlotte Brontë. It provides the backstory of Mr. Rochester s creole first wife, also known as the
madwoman in the attic or Antoinette. As a creole herself, Rhy was inspired to write Wide Sargasso
Sea with the express intention of giving greater dimension to the caricatured woman depicted in Jane
Eyre. She succeeds in doing this by documenting Antoinette s descent into madness as a result of her
abusive relationships rather than a genetic condition related to her racial identity. Rhys s desire to
combat the single story about the people of the West Indies in Jane Eyre, is one she has ... Show more

Antoinette allows herself to be swayed too easily, and as a result resigns what little free will she did
have by finally agreeing to the marriage. So, although Rochester, who represents neo colonists, is at
fault for placing undue pressure on Antionette; she ultimately shares in the blame as well for not
asserting herself strongly enough. The theme of the importance of self assertion is present throughout
Said s book Culture and Imperialism. As for example, in the following quotation, ...people [the
colonized] on whom the economy and polity sustained by empire depend...whose reality has not
historically or culturally required attention (Said 64). Because the culture of the colonized becomes
dominated by the culture of the colonizer, which is analogous to how Antoinette was dominated by
Rochester, their unique history, culture, and identity becomes secondary. Only by demanding attention
and refusing to allow their minds to be colonized, meaning they must resist internalizing the messages
that the single story of colonialism promotes, will the unique identity of the previously colonized be
recognized as well as their autonomy. The former colonizer has no motive in assisting in this process,
so the responsibility falls to the

Identify Threats and Vulnerabilities in an IT Infrastructure
1. What are the differences between ZeNmap GUI (Nmap) and Nessus? NMAP is primarily a host
detection and port discovery tool. Instead of using Nessus to look for specific vulnerabilities against a
known quantity of hosts, NMAP discovers active IP hosts using a combination of probes. On the other
hand Nessus takes the open ports into account and notifies you if these ports have potential security
vulnerabilities attached to them.
Nessus is typically installed on a server and runs as a web based application. Nessus uses plugins to
determine if a vulnerability is present on a specified machine.

7. How many IP hosts were identified in the Nessus® vulnerability scan? List them.
8. While Nessus provides suggestions for remediation steps, what else does Nessus provide that can
help you assess the risk impact of the identified software vulnerability? Through passive monitoring,
PVS can reveal devices and software on the network that are not authorized, or that may indicate a
network compromise.
9. Are open ports necessarily a risk? Why or why not? They are a risk because a trojan can be used to
transmit data to an attacker. They hold a port open, e.g. Port 31337. The attacker connects to the trojan
and sends requests to do a certain task, for example to make a screenshot. The trojan makes the
screenshot and sends the image via the port to the attacker. On newer trojans, the port number is quite
freely configurable, which makes identifying the trojan by the port number difficult. There are no
control mechanisms available which can prevent a trojan from using an specific port. If a trojan does
use the port 80, for instance, a novice user could imagine the program is a webserver, and may even
simply ignore the port.
10. When you identify a known software vulnerability, where can you go to assess the risk impact of
the software vulnerability? Nessus can detect thousands of problems, and it classifies each as one of

What Is The Pity For The Minotaur
Pity for the Minotaur There are many interesting Greek myths, but the Minotaur is one of the most
interesting to me. The Minotaur was an evil monster also known as the beast . He had the head of a
bull and the body of a man. He is the mutant child of a human mother and a bull father. I ask myself,
could life have been different for the Minotaur? I believe the Minotaur suffered the wrath of Poseidon
because of the greed and hubris of his father, Minos. I pity the beast because Poseidon s spell that was
placed on Pasiphae was to punish Minos for not sacrificing his bull. The spell was to make Pasiphae
lust after a bull that Minos liked and did not want to sacrifice and instead sacrificed a lesser bull.
Pasiphae became pregnant by the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
He is the reason of savagery and the order of chaos. We have all had times where we feel savage. The
beast was an untamable part of nature in the myth. To confront the Minotaur in the dark labyrinth is
the same as confronting our fears of the unknown, the labyrinth was a chamber of death . All humans
experience rage and aggression that builds inside them and some have a hard time knowing how to
control it where, as the Minotaur only knows rage and aggression because that is all he has been
shown. The Minotaur was also half human and could have been capable of good and rational thoughts
had he been raised to do so. In most stories of someone who has evil intentions, there is always a
reason and it usually comes from something in their past or how they were raised. I think the Minotaur
could have felt remorse, but in the Greek times his remorse would not have mattered. Greeks believed
human reason could do a lot, but the Minotaur was not all human and the Greeks seen him as the
enemy of reason . The story of the Minotaur could have been different, and he could have been the
hero instead of the fierce flesh eating beast that everyone feared. He could have saved the young
victims that were thrown into the labyrinth and they could have fought back against King Minos.
Maybe if he defeated King Minos he could have been the king, now that would have been a story to

Despite the significant amount of impoverished individuals, most farmworkers do not receive any
governmental aid. In 2011 2012, only 15% of farmworkers received food stamps, 16% received WIC
(a supplemental nutrition Program for Women, Infants and Children) and 34% received Medicaid.
Additionally, they do not receive commonplace benefits like sick leave, paid vacation or health
insurance because many agricultural employers are exempt from unemployment taxes and numerous
farmworkers are not eligible for unemployment benefits even though they perform jobs that are
seasonal and intermittent.
Migrant or seasonal farm workers are U.S. citizens, legal permanent residents, illegal immigrants or
seasonal laborers on special guest worker visas (H 2A workers). Migrant workers mean that they have
traveled at least 75 miles during a 12 month period to obtain a farm job. Seasonal workers mean that a
large majority does not work year round even if they work for more than one farm in a single year. On
average, 84% of seasonal farmworkers work over 60 days a year; 77% work over 90 days; and only
60% work over 180 days. Migrant children, defined as those who relocate because of involvement
with agriculture related industries or other seasonal work.
In general, migrant or seasonal farm workers have limited education and literacy skills. According

A Day Late And A Dollar Short Summary
One thing I do know about men and kids is that they always come back. They may be a day late and a
dollar short, but they always come back. Viola, A Day Late and A Dollar Short
As the title is mentioned in the book for the first time it sums up and foreshadows the events in the
book. A day late and a dollar short means a missed opportunity and also being unprepared at the time.
Against all that Viola, the narrator, believes that men and kids always come back.
Summary
Viola the mother of four children works to put her family back together in the short time she has left.
In the hospital from an asthma attack she comes to realize that she won t survive the next asthma
attack she has. Instead of telling this to her family, she keeps it a secret to keep them from worrying
about her. Not until after her death do the the family resolve their petty quarrels when cecil discovers

The sale terms had to be finalized by the NBA. Levenson informed NBA Commissioner, Adam Silver
of his desire to sell the franchise. In order to sell his share, Levenson hired bankers, Goldman Sachs
and Inner Circle Sports to sell the Atlanta Hanks team. Levenson s share was sold to Ares
Management led by Anthony Ressier for $850 million. Initially, it had been reported Levenson could
have sold it anywhere ranging from $700 million to $1 billion. It is presumably believed that bankers
tried to oversell in the beginning. Previously in the year 2013, it had been announced that the Atlanta
Hawks were worth only $435 million. After the sale of the Bucks and the Clippers, that amount
changed drastically. The value went up, because of the new television deals that surged. With the sale,
Levenson gave up his rights as governor and controlling owner of the Atlanta Hanks to CEO Steve
Koonin. Shortly after Levenson announced he was selling his share, his co founder, Michael Gearon

majority owners, owning around 50% of the Atlanta Hawks franchise. Respectively, Levenson sold his

My Position As A Project Assistant
The focus of my position as a project assistant is document management. The document management
issue I plan to address relates to other project assistants and the remote site monitor for my newest
study. This study is a follow up study to a project that is already in place. All documents in our studies
must go through a review process, and this process involves all members of the team. As a project
assistant my department is responsible for the tracking, filing, and retrieval of trial and onboarding
documents. At the end of the project our documentation is audited, and any issues that arise can
impact the approval of the trial drug.
The main issue that is occurring is our document turnaround time and accuracy has been struggling
due to employee turnover. This can create problems when auditors reference our system to see if the
approved documents were completed in a timely manner, and in some cases is a violation of our
standards to have documents go without updates. For example a medical license must be verified and
on file before its expiration date. Our document training varies by trial; for this specific trial we are
working off a simple document tracking guide, and our own notes from management.
My main goal is to improve and create a better set of tools to assist in our document management.
What I intend to do is update our original guide, and create a more simple tracking tool in Microsoft
excel. I have begun to update our guide by creating screen shots

Schenck V United States Case Brief
Schenck v United States (1919)
Facts:
During WWI Schenck mailed circulars to the people drafted. The circulars encourage the draftees that
war is wrong and that they should not go.
Schenck was charged for his obstruction of recruitment due to the Conspiracy Act. He sued, saying
that his First Amendment free speech was violated.
Issue:
Are Schenck s actions (words, expression) protected by the free speech clause of the First
Amendment?
Decision of the court:
The Court ruled (9 0) and upheld Schenck s conviction stating that the Espionage Act limited people s
speech especially during war time.
Reasoning:
Justice Holmes delivered the majority opinion declaring that a person s speech can be limited if that
speech present clear danger. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The court stated the arm bands were a sign of symbolic speech and that students have the right of
exercising this kind of expression in schools. They also stated that in order to suppress symbolic

the education of others. Since the black arm band was used to express the feelings of the students, the
school was incorrect for the suspension of those students who participated.
Significance: The case Tinker v Des Moines broadens the interpretation of student s First Amendment
rights. The students do not shed their First Amendment right when they enter school grounds. Thus
extending their right of free speech, press, etc. in their school. They have the ability to freely speak
about issues in their schools, etc. However, their rights are still limited in a way their speech may not

John Lewis Student Nonviolent Coordinating Committee (SNCC
John Lewis was one of the most notably influential leaders of the Student Nonviolent Coordinating
Committee, SNCC. SNCC was founded in the 1960s in Releigh, North Carolina and initially consisted
of black students as its members (Murphree 2006:11). The first members of this organization made
use of nonviolent ways of protests such as sitting in and occupation of certain public places. The
organization was successful in making other people aware of the injustices that black people were
usually exposed to. Moreover, SNCC supported more nonviolent protests such as the Freedom Rides
in 1961 and the March on Washington in 1963 which paved the way for the amendment of the Civil

Browning uses an interior monologue which creates a stream of consciousness of uninterrupted thoughts and feelings that is expressed to the audience. In comparison, the dramatic monologue by Robert Browning was influenced by Shakespeare s use of the iambic pentameter as it creates a natural rhythm. The poem is made up of heroic couplets which builds up a rhythmic pattern. A matter of fact tone is used throughout the monologue, which could imply that the duke believes that he knows everything and is always right. The whole poem is written in an urgent continuous pace without any verses to show how the duke is in charge and in control. Daniel chapter 3 verse 4 5 says: Then a herald cried aloud: To you it is commanded, O peoples, nations, and languages, that at the time you hear the sound of the horn, flute, harp, lyre, and psaltery, in symphony with all kinds of music, you shall fall down and worship the gold image that King Nebuchadnezzar has set up. king Nebuchadnezzar had asked all the people who came to see the statue to fall down and worship the statue. • 23. Warfare In Medieval Italy Incessant Warfare In the 14th century, the northern Italy was divided into many conflicting city states. In this section I conclude that rational choice theory has indeed developed advanced methodologies at telling us how rational agents should behave. Then in my second section I will show, using the empirical case of the free rider problem and collective action, as well as the case of suicide terrorism, that rational choice theory cannot adequately account for actual political phenomena. In my third section I will provide some reasons for why this is the case. Finally, in my concluding section I will posit a theoretical framework incorporating some refinements to the assumptions behind rational choice theory that would better aid a predictive (but not universalist) political science. What is Rational Choice Theory? Rational choice theory is actually more than one theory per se, but the basic similarities among its variants mean that they can be intelligibly amalgamated for the purposes of critiquing its implementation in political science. This case often raises a debate about whether or not the men should have been charged with murder during war time, when orders were not clearly defined. Based on Kant s Categorical Imperative ethical model, if I was acting as the fifth judge in this case, I would find the men guilty. This is because a person who utilizes the Kantian view believes that the only pure good is pure human reason without consequences. This pure human reason works without the influence of human emotions and desires. A truly good act, as defined by Kant, is performed because of an obligation to the categorical imperative. • 41. Saul Bellow Seize the Day the Water Imagery Water Imagery in Seize the Day Saul Bellow s Seize the Day is one of the most profoundly sad novels to be written since Tender is the Night. On this day of reckoning, during the seven hours or so that comprise the action of the novel, all the troubles that constitute the present condition of Wilhelm Adler descend upon him and crush him, leaving him penniless, alone, and in such profound misery that one can hardly imagine his going on. He is, as he says, at the end of his rope. This has been one of those days, he says to his wife, May I never live to go through another like it. We feel that he may not live at all, so great is his misery, so completely has he been destroyed. Yet if we look more deeply, more accurately, we see that the ... He was imperfect and disfigured himself, but what difference did that make if he was united with them by this blaze of love? And as he walked he began to say, Oh my brothers my brothers and my sisters, blessing them all as well as himself. Although such feelings never last long and are usually fled from rather than welcomed, on this day of reckoning he remembers this experience and thinks, I must go back to that. That s the right clue and may do me the most good. Something very big. Truth, like. This affirmation, feeble as it is, constitutes his own dim recognition of the saving end of what more often appears to him as a destructive element his own intensely emotional nature. He continually blames his failures on his strong and often uncontrollable emotions; yet we are finally made aware that it is just this capacity to feel, more specifically this need to love and be loved, that makes possible the birth of Wilhelm s soul at the end of the novel. Ultimately, the clearest indication that the action of Seize the Day is ironic is found in Bellow s attitude toward man s emotional nature, not just as revealed in this novel but throughout his writing. That Bellow is in the tradition of the great English Romantic poets Wordsworth in particular in this respect has been brilliantly argued by Irvin Stock in [The Southern Review, Winter 1967]. Happy Birthday. ~Unknown Author This quote, briefly summarizing a new outlook one can potentially take on life after turning 21, focuses on experiencing life at its best , yet in the midst of being plagued by a number of new responsibilities such as bills and other problems. The terse (PSAT Vocab) Happy Birthday at the end serves as a smart aleck method of introducing a new 21 year old into a true adult role, one with more responsibilities and worries than have been dealt with before. Just like this quote, the poems To Sir John Lade, on His Coming of Age by Samuel Johnson, and When I Was One and Twenty by A.E. Housman, embody messages of advisory to new 21 year olds, embodying the new possibilities and freedoms, yet also detailing some cautions to take along with new found responsibilities. Both of these works give counsel and warning about joys and responsibilities of turning 21, however, Johnson s rendition mainly portrays the joys and excitement of a gained freedom, while Housman stresses the importance of avoiding foolish mistakes such as carelessly falling in love. As a previous high school immigrant when I first arrived in United States, I have experience numerous difficulties in school that I would never forget. In addition, I believe immigrant students of secondary school can face major difficulties in learning English and succeeding in school. Since these students do not have a lot of time than elementary students to learn English, and they have to pass several test that require English skill such as the ACT and SAT. Above all, most secondary school texts and materials require a sufficient English reading ability to understand, which will even make learning experience becoming even tougher for high school immigrant. ... I actually have no knowledge of American History; even I went to the full four years public high school in America. That is why I am questioning the education system in the United States. Instead of spending countless periods in regular History and Biology classes without understand any materials, why schools do not offer History and Biology classes but just for ESL student, using simple and easier form of English to understand, so immigrant students can actually learn more about the subjects. In the addition, schools should also give an instructional program that give English language learners access to academic concepts and skills. Therefore, I certainly believe if there were program and curricular alternatives for students with limited English proficiency, students would not experience a difficult time with their school. Moreover, research has showed that due to these difficulties that immigrant students have to face, there is a high dropout rates among language minority secondary school students. Our bodies are governed by the law of gravitation and we cannot decide whether or not to obey this law because it is just a matter of how the universe works but we each have the power of choice—the ability to decide either to obey the Law of Human Nature or disobey it. We can recall the story of Adam and Eve who had the choice to do what was right or wrong. Taking a look at Genesis 2:16, 17, God commanded, You are free to eat from any tree in the garden; but you must not eat from the tree of the knowledge of good and evil, for when you eat of it you will surely die. They proceeded to do what they were told not too do, making use of their power of choice by disobeying, in the end leading to a set of consequences which marked the beginning of sin. C.S. Lewis makes his first argument by stating, First, that human beings, all over the earth, have this curious idea that they ought to behave in a certain way, and cannot really get rid of it. Secondly, that they do not in fact behave in that way. They know the Law of Nature; they break it. These two facts are the foundation of all clear thinking about ourselves and the universe we live in (p.8). Even though each culture is different each contains their own personal moral code, which in fact are all remarkably similar. Taking a look at book two we can tackle the idea of what Christians believe. Christianity can be viewed as being something that is complex. At first it may seem simple, but C.S. Lewis puts it ... Biological altruism is a phenomenon defined by French philosopher Auguste Comte as behavior by an individual that increases the fitness of another individual while decreasing the fitness of the actor. The coinage of this term posed a difficult question to the field of evolutionary science, as it contradicted with Charles Darwin s definition of the mechanism of natural selection. In The Origin of Species, Darwin explains the mechanism of natural selection by stating that individuals having any advantage, however slight, over others, would have the best chance of surviving and procreating their kind and On the other hand, we may feel sure that any variation in the least degree injurious would be rigidly destroyed (83). This helped his campaign as republican ideology states that if tax rates are lower, people will donate more money to charities of their own choice. Republicans believe that this method is more efficient than taxes, as the government doesn t dictate how much of whose money goes where, the people are the ones to decide how to donate their money to whichever charity they choose. However, democrats urged the populace to scrutinize the tax forms, as certain sections of the forms seemed dubious. As a creole herself, Rhy was inspired to write Wide Sargasso Sea with the express intention of giving greater dimension to the caricatured woman depicted in Jane Eyre. Through passive monitoring, PVS can reveal devices and software on the network that are not authorized, or that may indicate a network compromise. 9. Are open ports necessarily a risk? Why or why not? They are a risk because a trojan can be used to transmit data to an attacker. They hold a port open, e.g. Port 31337. The attacker connects to the trojan and sends requests to do a certain task, for example to make a screenshot. The trojan makes the screenshot and sends the image via the port to the attacker. On newer trojans, the port number is quite freely configurable, which makes identifying the trojan by the port number difficult. There are no control mechanisms available which can prevent a trojan from using an specific port. If a trojan does use the port 80, for instance, a novice user could imagine the program is a webserver, and may even simply ignore the port. 10. All humans experience rage and aggression that builds inside them and some have a hard time knowing how to control it where, as the Minotaur only knows rage and aggression because that is all he has been shown.
