Non Denominational Churches
I went to a non denominational Christian church on 18 July 2015. I grew up as a member of the LDS
church and I no longer go to church as well as no longer believe as well. I chose the non
denominational church because it seemed less intimidating as others and I also had a friend to go with
that frequents this church. Non denominational Christian churches have always intrigued me as well.
They have rock bands in church and singing and all together a different type of preaching then I grew
up knowing. I learned that there is different ways non denominational churches handle things
compared to that of other Christian faiths. It was very upbeat and lively throughout the entire sermon
where compared to that of a LDS sacrament service being more

Short Term Educational Goals
One of my primary, short term educational goals is to complete my Bachelors of Science degree in
Communication s with the emphasis on Mass Media and Broadcasting. My second, short term
educational goal is to complete my studies within the shortest timeframe possible, saving me both
time and finances. Completing this process at an accelerated pace will allow me the opportunity to
pursue my Master of Science degree in Human Services with the emphasis on Family and Community
services.
I have studied the field of Psychology with the emphasis on Marriage, Children and Family
Counseling for the past seven years, earning a doctorate of philosophy from Higher Place Christian
University. I have worked in the field of Mental Health for the last fifteen years after deciding to
commit my life to the service of humanity by ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Subsequently, upon contributing voluminous amounts of time and resources in my field, I came to the
crossroads of a major career decision. I had to brainstorm and develop a strategy which would allow
me to continue to serve the needs of humanity by pursuing a new educational path that would allow
me to incorporate my long standing history of psychology practices with my passion for life. I decided
it was time for me to pursue my passion of empowering, inspiring, motivating, and advocating on the
behalf of others full time.
I started a blog talk radio broadcast in 2011, in which I addressed social issues that affect the world as
a whole. I found this venue of media to be a platform which gave me a voice to reach the masses
globally at one time, unbeknownst to me my natural gift as a motivator would unleash a passion

move my show to a mainstream internet based radio network, with the potential of my show being

Participants: A total of 168 students participated in the survey. The distribution of gender among the
Participants were 62.5 %(105) = Female, 36.9% (62) = Male, and .6% (1) = Other. The distribution of
year in school was 2.4% (4) = Freshmen, 17.9% (30) = Sophomore, Junior = 50.6% (85) = Junior, and
26.2% (44) = Senior. Convenient sampling was used in this survey as it was easier to get participants
based off attending the same university. The survey was administered online, by sending a link to take
the survey to the participants. Each student within the class was in charge of getting between 7 10
participants for the survey.

Another correlation that was calculated was between hours of sleep per night and academic credits
hours currently enrolled in. Pearson s r was calculated as .111. This data shows a weak, negative
correlation exists, meaning that the more academic hours students are taking, the hours of sleep is not
as affected.
In response to the question, How many hours of sleep do you get on a typical night? , the mean
response was 3.39 (SD=.710) on a 5 point scale where 3 = 5 6 hours and 4 = 7 8 hours.
Overall participants reported sleeping M= 3.39 (SD=.710) around 5 8 hours.
A correlation calculated between average night of sleep as: Restless:Restful and academic credits
hours currently enrolled in was also computed. Pearson s r was calculated as 0.075. This data shows
no relationship between these two variables.
In response to the question, How many academic credit hours are you currently enrolled in? The mean
response was 3.38 (SD=.894) on a 5 point scale where 3 = 13 15 credits and 4 = 16 18 credits.
Overall participants reported having academic credits hours M=3.38 (SD=.894) that are between 3 18
credits.
Discussion
The research question revolved around whether the amount and extent of workload a student has at
their disposal, how would it affect their length and quality of sleep? My hypothesis was that as student
s workload increases, the amount of sleep they receive should decrease in length and quality. Based
off the results of the survey, my prediction

unique, unscripted and talented performer Brendan O Hara

World War I Showed New Technology And Exposed Men And Women
J Taiya Carr 3/21/16 Chapter 25 REFLECTION PAPER 3 World War I showed new technology and
exposed men and women to a new type of brutality. European countries were in a state of disarray and
America found itself searching for the meaning of life and happiness. Radical changes will occur in
the U.S. involving politics and social ideas. Some people were shedding their old traditional skins to
accept the new modern world, while others are trying to hold onto the old ways of the world. The
United States was facing varied problems, racism between blacks and whites rose during the famed
roaring twenties, and modernism was the new trend. This was America from 1919 to 1929 before its
economic downfall. The United States was having varied ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
A reason America disliked immigrants was because anarchism and socialism was associated with
them, especially those from countries with failing governments. Stereotypes were common even then.
Now, the KKK, which had become very popular in the late 1800 s, found itself with an influx of new
members. They called for 100 percent Americanism, which I am sure appealed to many Americans at
the time and only allowed white Protestants to join (794). It is known that the KKK were
fundamentalist, many people from the South but also other parts of the country joining.
Fundamentalism and Modernists were butting heads at the time, especially with the Scopes Trial/
Monkey Trial was in the air. A school teacher, John Scopes taught his students about evolution and
was arrested in Tennessee. The attorney defending Scopes was Charles Darrow. William Jennings
Bryan, whom had been the Secretary of State, had recently denounced Darwinism due to his firm
religious views and supported the prosecution during the Scopes Trial. I believed religion was part of
the government a bit too much during these times. It is the same today because we all want a president
or government official to have the same belief as we do. This would almost guarantee the laws we
want being approved, such as a liberal democrat who support same sex marriage would be in favor of
Hillary Clinton now. I believe Darrow was focused more on whether or

my life, like many other rites of passage, can be separated into Van Gennep s three different stages:
separation, liminal, and incorporation. The first stage of my rite of passage, separation, was being cut
away from my parents for eight hours a day and sent off to learn about the world. This started when I
was five years old when my mother let my hand go when I went into my kindergarten classroom for
the first time. I was being separated from my home life for most of the day and was being introduced
to new ideas, ways of thinking, and people. The second stage, liminal or transitional, was the period of

Earthworm Dissection Lab Report
In the dissection of the earthworm three pins were used to hold it down. The first pin was at the
anterior, the second at the posterior and the third was under the clitellum. Then the scalpel and blade
were used to cut into the side of the dorsal vein of the earthworm. The dissecting probe was used to
open up the worm and the used the pins to pin the sides down.
During the dissection of the clam its hinged in the middle. The umbo was held away from the chest
area and the scalpel was used to cut the two adductor muscles by sliding the scalpel inside the shell

It s a Wonderful Life Essay
The movie, It s a Wonderful Life, has the protagonist named George Bailey. In this story line, God is
talking to one of his angels and He tells this angel that his job is to prevent this man from killing
himself and to save him. God then goes and shows this angel part of George s life that was very
significant. In the end, we see George Bailey at present time and we see that he is at one of his lowest
points ever. Throughout the movie, the audience gets to perceive George s dilemma in life. Since he
was a little boy, George has been a good child: always willing to help others. He saved his brother s
life by jumping into icy cold water to prevent him from drowning, and thus he lost his left ear s
hearing; he also prevented his boss, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
To me, it really seem idiotic taking my life away for just $8,000, but that is just my perception on
viewing things. Everyone has a different perception upon a subject, and George Bailey is frustrated
and he feels like he has no other option. When people are scared, depressed and mad, they have a
tendency of thinking irrational and therefore make careless choices. George Bailey s careless choice is
wanting to take his life away. Emotion also plays a very significant role in the movie. When George
Bailey s guardian angel makes it so that George was never born, he gets to see how the people and the
town are really affected by his nonexistence. Seeing that his wife Mary does not have a happy life and
that his old boss went to prison for putting drugs in those capsules that he could have prevented if he
was alive, is really emotional to him and he feels heartbroken. He notices that the once before Bailey
Park is now Potterville, and all the decent houses that were built there are now old slums and people
are in poverty due to Mr. Potter s lack of emotion and kindness. George witnesses all these
catastrophic changes and it pains him to see so much suffering that he could have prevented. George
Bailey is a kind man, and his emotional feelings tell him that in fact he does not want to die. He
realizes that whatever problems that he is having can be fixed and that the world is not coming to an
end just for $8,000. Seeing everyone s lack of

Ocean Acidification Impacts
Introduction
The potential impacts of ocean acidification pose several threats on marine organisms and ecosystem
processes. Many marine species are sensitive to changes in ocean. The effects of acidification on
individual species will have ripple effects throughout the ecosystem. So, species that might not be
directly affected by acidification may still be influenced by ocean acidification if their predators or
prey are affected by changes in water chemistry. These food web interactions are difficult to predict,
and may play out in unexpected ways. Acidification s potential effects on marine ecosystems are an
economic concern as well. These issues need to be addressed because they are all issues today, not the
future. Ocean acidification may also be threatening not only marine life but our own way of life as
humans. Although ocean acidification may not directly impact specific organisms, it s impact will
have a ripple effect that is felt in our own ecosystem we live in today. Threatening the health of ...

Comparing these options has led to classifying them, in a qualitative way, according to their potential
and feasibility. While reducing carbon dioxide (CO2) emissions is confirmed as the key action that
must be taken against acidification, some of the other options appear to have the potential to buy time,
by relieving the pressure of other stressors, and help marine life face unavoidable acidification.
Although the existing legal basis to take action shows few gaps, policy challenges are significant:
tackling them will mean succeeding in various areas of environmental management where we failed to

Case Study Of Parsley
2. Parsley
2.1. Reasons for choosing parsley
On considering various options of herb to be grown in our garden, we were all impressed with parsley
s versatility, with its application found in cooking, in medical treatment/ disease prevention and even
in beautification. Regarding its culinary use, while more commonly known, and used, for decorative
garnishing, parsley in the chopped form can also enhance the flavor and taste of dishes, either through
combination with main ingredients or through the marinating process, according to George Mateljan
Foundation (n.d.). Furthermore, results from previous studies have pointed out that parsley leaves
make abundant source of vitamins and minerals, including some vital ones such as vitamins B and C,
iron, calcium and carotene. (Mulugeta, Unnithan, Tesfay, 2015). As suggested by Manderfeld et al.
(1997), benefits of this herb to our health also include its role as a blood regulator, which to some
extent helps control problems such as backache and nose bleeding. For those reasons, we believe that
parsley from our garden will not only contribute to more ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Answer to this tough question is likely to be found in pot plantation method. Parsley will continue
growing indoors with the support of nutrients and water from soil in the pot (Nardozzi, n.d.).
However, since sun light remains an indispensable element for this plant s growth, pots should be
placed near the glass windows of cafeteria, which faces the multipurpose hall. In this way, continuous,
stable and adequate supply of sunlight at this position shall ensure the plants survival through winter.
An important note at this point, though, is that preparation to transfer parsley from the field to inside
should leave ample time for the plant to adapt to its new home. Particularly, Nardozzi remarks that
digging up should be 2 or 3 months before winter and bringing the plants inside should be before the

Antigone, The Tragic Hero
Antigone is the tragic hero because she had goodness in her heart, nobility as a princess, a fatal flaw in
her personality, and a status downfall when she was put inside the cave. All of these descriptions fit
Aristotle s description of what a tragic hero is. Aristotle was a philosopher. He was passionate about
his own definition and characteristics of how a story s tragic hero should be portrayed. In the time he
was alive, men were shown to be the superior other. Women stayed inside while they watched the
children and cooked a nice meal for their family. Men worked to earn money for their family. So, it s
safe to say that men had more recognition. More fame . Although most people believed that, in this
arbitrary time, there were others who disagreed with these unfair decisions.
In 367 BC, Aristotle attended Plato s Academy. Plato was his professor in his twenty years of
attending that school. According to Classics Network, Plato was known as one of the many people
who opposed excluding women from society. Because of his strong beliefs, he influenced many of his

could have disagreed just like Plato had, so when he wrote Antigone he chose to add in both a male
and a female tragic hero. Because of the pressure from others, he chose to write the character of
Antigone in a secretive kind of way. While her character does show traits of a tragic hero, it s not as
easy to figure out with only a simple read. Most likely, because of the years Aristotle and Plato were
born, their views on women s role in society were greatly influenced by the secret example of

Personification In Animal Farm
The key to the success of Animal Farm lies in the fact that it was not just a political novel. Nor was
Orwell the politics obsessed figure of legend. His childhood friend Cyril Connolly wrote that he was
always incorrigibly political, so that he couldn t blow his nose without moralizing on the state of the
linen industry. Yet such a view is partly exaggeration, partly anachronism (Pearce 49).
Animal Farm by George Orwell symbolizes the Russian Revolution that happened in 1905.
Throughout this book, Orwell compares the book with the Russian Revolution through
characterization, personification, and allegory. Characterization is the representation of a character
who takes on the actions, gestures, and even speech patterns, of certain people. Personification is the
representation of an abstract quality in human form. Lastly, allegory is when a story has a meaning or
a moral or an allegory can be represented as a symbol. Orwell ... Show more content on

It has described the animals to compare and represent the people within the Russian Revolution. In
some ways, he clearly emphasizes the similarities between the beasts on Animal Farm and the humans
whom they are designed to represent. (Letemendia 127). One good example of personification is that
Napoleon is represented as Joseph Stalin. Stalin and Napoleon used violence to maintain order. For
example, when Napoleon used the dogs to chase off Snowball. Napoleon wanted the farm to go his
way, instead of working together with the other pigs and animals. So then when Snowball presented
the windmill idea, Napoleon thought it was brilliant but wanted to claim the idea for himself later and
chase off Snowball. Napoleon also used the dogs to kill the animals that have fessed up supposably to
be working with Snowball. Stalin was widely seen as a cruel leader who would eliminate anyone who
got in his way, and millions of people who refused to cooperate with him were executed as a result.

The Accounting Treatment Of Leases
Introduction
According to Steve Collings (2010), the accounting treatment of leases has presented a lot of problems
over the years for the particular profession. Problems are observed in the way some leases are being
treated in a business income statement and statement of financial position. Although, as we are going
to expand more on that, the major problem of accounting for leases according to Collings (2010), is
the manipulation of financial statements by incorrectly categorizing finance leases as operating leases
. The main purpose of the essay is to discuss why accounting for leases has been so controversial and
whether the new standard (IFRS16) will give a more meaningful picture of companies financial
position for lessees. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

Descriptive Essay On Patriot s Day
Patriot s Day is an official state holiday commemorating the anniversary of the Battles of Lexington
and Concord which marked the first shots of the Revolutionary War. Since 1969, the holiday has been
celebrated on the third Monday of April in the states of Massachusetts and Maine. It marks a three day
weekend for these citizens. The biggest celebration on Patriot s Day is the Boston Marathon, which
has been a tradition since 1897. When people think of Boston, they usually think of the Red Sox.
Their fan base is so passionate and loyal no matter how poorly the team performs. Every Patriot s Day,

Symptoms And Treatment Of Arthritis Essay
While everyone wishes to live to advanced age, it is not always that old age is enjoyable. Living to see
own children bring up their children is gratifying too. Many old consider age is also a blessing but it
also comes with a cost and arthritis is one of the big costs that the aged continue to pay. The disease
turns chronic with progressive inflammation of the synovial lining of peripheral joints. It is
characterized by symmetric, chronic and deforming polyarthritis that results in long term joint

rheumatoid arthritis, osteoarthritis and gout. All forms of arthritis can be detected with constant joint

Dubliners By James Joyce Research Paper
James Joyce wrote Dubliners to show the paralysis of the people of Ireland and how the nature of
routine plays a huge part in their lives. The people of Dublin are confined and used to routines that
they are unable to escape Ireland. No matter how hard they try to leave they wind up right back to
where they originally were. The major themes in Dubliners that was articulated in Joyce s stories was
the repetitiveness of routines, and the sense of escape. The Dead was the last story in Dubliners that
brought together all of his ideas. Joyce created Gabriel in many ways like himself and it is believed
that The Dead is based of of Joyce s life. Gabriel is a man who is educated but is very awkward in

In An Encounter the narrator and his friends play a game where they are in the wild west in America
which is a sense of freedom for them. This shows that they want to escape from Ireland, but they can t
escape the circling nature so they have to only pretend and play games. Even when the narrator wants
to set out on a new adventure with Mahony and Leo by skipping school, they are not successful.
Mahony and the narrator walk around by the ships and the river and the old man keeps walking in
circles around them which would represent the circling nature of Dublin. Even the old man tried as a
kid to escape but he just couldn t. The kids did not picture Dublin to be dangerous and cold. This
compares to The Dead because Gabriel is the only character in the entire book to come out and state

Reflective Essay On Culture
According to Sellnow et al., culture is the system of shared values, beliefs, attitudes, and norms that
guide what is considered appropriate among identifiable group of people (44). Culture involves why
we believe in certain things and why we act certain ways. There are many different kinds of cultures
that an individual may have. There are even groups that can be formed called co cultures that derive
from these bigger cultures. Co culture is a group comprised of a smaller number of people who hold
common values, beliefs, attitudes, and customs that differ from those of the dominant culture (Sellnow
et al. 45). For the interview I conducted, I chose someone who had a different culture than I do. My
interviewee was from Costa Rica, and comes from a Spanish culture. I was born in Ohio, and come
from a one hundred percent American culture. The first difference in our cultures that I wanted to
identify were the foods that we eat for our meals. The second difference involved some of the things
that are different in our cultures, like how we greet people or the ways we celebrate. One could even
take this further into calling them norms which are expectations for the way group members are to
behave (Sellnow et al., 177). Lastly, I asked questions about the obvious difference in our cultures,
which would be the different languages that we speak. The first question I asked my interviewee was
What kinds of foods did you eat for your meals down in Costa Rica? Now this

Legally Blonde Film Analysis
Describe the movie you picked and why you picked it: The movie I chose, is titled Legally Blonde,
starring Reese Witherspoon. The movie follows the story of Elle Woods, who seems to have it all.
With her stunning blonde hair, sorority sisters, and her rich, senator aspiring boyfriend, she s sure to
have the perfect life. Elle s world gets turned upside down when her boyfriend, Warner Huntington III,
leaves her in the dust for Harvard law school in an attempt to find a Jackie O type of woman. Instead
of the shallow, unserious, and unwise, Marilyn , he claims Elle to be. Feeling desperate, Elle finds her
way into law school in an attempt to prove Warner wrong and win him back. She then goes on to win
a spot along with Warner and his new ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
So, I feel like any conversation had with another female will be male focused. Additionally, there are
not as many women attending law school as men in this movie. This leaves less female to female
conversation and less opportunity for story lines that do not revolve around men. Hopefully, Legally
Blonde, proves me wrong and turns out to be the inspiring story I remember it to be as a kid.
Describe the results of your Bechdel Test in detail: 1) Were there at least two (2) named female
characters?
There are a total of eight named female characters in the movie. In order of appearance, these
characters include: Elle Woods, Margot, Enid, Paulette Bonafonte, Vivian Kensington, Brooke Taylor,
Chutney, and Mrs. Hayworth. However, only four of these women were actually involved in
conversation lasting a minute. The female characters that had main speaking roles include, Elle,
Paulette, Vivian, and Brooke.
Elle has been described as the main female character. Paulette is a manicurist that she develops a
friendship with along the way. In a way, she takes refuge with Pauline at the salon from the harsh
reality of Harvard and Warner. Vivian is a fellow classmate of Elle s and Warner s new fiancée, whom
eventually she finds a friend in. Brooke is the client that Elle s professor is defending in her internship.
2) Did these female characters talk to each other (for at least ~60 seconds)?

The Design Philosophy of Ruby Ross Wood
The Design Philosophy of Ruby Ross Wood D Aja Anderson Professor Jennifer Hopkins Tidewater
Community College SDV 101 17 December 15, 2012 This paper expounds on the life and design style
of Ruby Ross Wood. Her abstract life was during the cookie cutter times of the 1900 s. During these
times the everyday woman went from being a homemaker to earning wages and being a prominent
member of society. It was an excellent time in history when the women of the world stood on the
threshold of greatness. The world desperately needed an eccentric, intelligent, and strong female
designer in the public eye who would forever change the way we look at design and what is beautiful.
Being a descendent of several families prominent in America ... Show more content on

According to Baldwin, Wood s professional credo was: The final judgment in decorating is not the
logic of the mind, but the logic of the eye. (Wikipedia contributors). Mrs. Wood embraced many
different cultural designs, and preferred to design with old world intent rather than embrace modern
design. Her Death and Legacy Ruby Ross Wood died 1950 of lung cancer. She was described by many
as eccentric, but was best described by Mitchell Owens who wrote: Ruby Ross Wood was an anomaly
when compared with the other prominent decorators of her day. She was not a charter member of the
international social set, like Elsie de Wolfe. She was not a beautiful society divorcée, like Dorothy
Draper. And she most decidedly was not a glamorous kept woman, like Rose Cumming. Instead, Ruby
Ross Wood chain smoking, impatient, tart tongued was what used to be called a working girl. Ruby
Wood did not start her career with the intention to become a world famous interior designer, but she
did become one. She was different in many ways from the interior decorators of her time, but from the
looks of things that is what made her work so exciting and vibrant. She is also a great example of
realizing and pursing your dreams. She found her passion in life and followed through to the end, and
even when she failed she kept going. When thinking of Ruby Ross Wood you should not only admire

Mount Vesuvius Eruption 79 A.D.
Mount Vesuvius
What? Mount Vesuvius is a stratovolcano located near the bay of Naples in Italy (at the convergent
boundary where the African Plate is being subducted beneath the Eurasian Plate), and it is mostly
known for its eruption year 79 A.D. that buried the city Pompeii under a thick layer of volcanic ash.
Although the destruction of the Roman cities Pompeii and Herculaneum is mostly mentioned when
talking about the eruption, Mount Vesuvius also affected other cities such as Oplontis, Stabiae, and
Nuceria. (Santillo Frizell 2006)

(Cashdollar et al. 1982) A Plinian eruption, also known as a Vesuvian eruption, is an eruption marked
by columns of gas and volcanic ash extending high into the atmosphere, as well as a large amount of
pumice and very continuous gas blast eruptions. A pyroclastic flow is one of the most dangerous
forces released by an erupting volcano. A column of hot gas and ash is thrown into the air and
collapses under its own weight. It then roars down the side of the volcano, obliterating everything in
its path. (Watson 2011) The collapse of the gases in the pyroclastic flow was divided into several
surges, and it is believed that surges 4 and 5 destroyed Pompeii. Pompeii, along with Herculaneum,
was mostly destroyed and buried under 4 to 6 meters of ash and pumice. (Santillo Frizell 2006)
Importance As we know now, Pompeii was buried although not completely destroyed by the powerful
eruption of Mount Vesuvius. Today, the buried buildings of the ancient city have been uncovered and
have survived to show us in amazing detail what town life was like under Roman rule, and because of
this, the discovery of Pompeii is of huge importance for our understanding of the Roman world. When
the pyroclastic flow enveloped Pompeii, its inhabitants were buried along with their city. Ash
solidified around their bodies that eventually rotted away, leaving behind human shaped holes found
by archaeologists more than 1,000 years later. These casts reveal the final

Cultural Relativism, By Lila Abu Lughod
Cultural relativism is the view that we should seek to understand other cultures within their own
context, rather than through the biased understanding of our own cultural beliefs. When Americans see
Bedouin women wearing veils, they are likely to view this practice in the context of their own culture
and see it purely as an act of male oppression an idea that would be very confounding and offensive to
Bedouin women themselves. To say that, in the future, Bedouin women might be free to not be veiled
undermines Bedouin culture because it fundamentally misunderstands the practice of veiling, speaking
about it in an American context rather than a Bedouin context.
So in order to understand the practice of veiling, we must think in terms of ... Show more content on

The Bedouin believe that showing these things to others is a form of exposure. For this reason, they
value extreme modesty, and find sexuality to be very shameful.
Because they can bear children, women are directly tied to ideas of fertility, which is both valued and
looked down upon in Bedouin life. Because of menstruation, which cannot be controlled, a woman
cannot ever fully have agl. This is one part of why women in Bedouin culture are considered inferior
to men. Another concept at the core of Bedouin ethics, which is linked to aṣl in some ways, is kinship.
Bedouin people have an ideology of very strong, natural, unbreakable bonds of blood, especially
through agnates (those in the same male bloodline). The concept of kinship is not restricted to blood,
but also extends to those who live together, sharing a type of temporary bond. Loyalty to friends and
family is very important to the Bedouin, and so the concept of kinship ties directly back into their
sense of honor. Within Bedouin culture, directly connected to the concept of kin, is a complex
hierarchical social structure of superiors and dependents.
It is true that Bedouin men are generally dominant over Bedouin women, but for the Bedouin the
concept of authority is derived from moral worthiness. If someone is deserving of authority, they are
also considered honorable (which is not to say that this is always the

Marble Drop Lab Report

Period 6
AP Physics Lab Report Marble Drop Experiment
Problem:
This lab was designed to prove that the height of an object launched on a ramp is relational to the
distance it goes off the ramp.
Hypothesis:
When releasing a marble off of a ramp on a table, the higher up that the marble starts on the ramp, the
farther it should land from the table on the ground.
Design:
We placed a small ramp on a table and used clamps to ensure the ramp wouldn t move and change our
results. With tape, we marked each height we would drop the marble from. Using a meter stick, we
measured the height of the table, base of the ramp, and the height of each place the marble would be
dropped. On our paper, which we taped to the ground to prevent ... Show more content on

This positive slope shows that as the ramp heights increased, so did the distance the marbles traveled.
However, there were problems with the experiment.
First, the meter stick did not have perfect ends. This caused uncertainty because the measurements
were not accurate. The meter stick was not compared with others to see if it was reasonably close.
Another error was that we did not have a constant release method. We placed the marble on the ramp
each time and just let go. The marble could have stuck to our hand and been released higher or lower
than we wanted it to. Also, there could have been human error since we released the marble by hand
and we could have moved up or down accidentally.
The final error was that we used multiple different marbles for the lab. They could have had different
weights or shapes. Even the slightest difference in shape would affect where it landed.
Solutions to the meter stick error are simple. We could have bought a new meter stick with perfect
ends. If we were not able to buy one, we could have compared it to many other meter sticks and used
whichever one was most

Victoria L Bromley Feminisms Matter Summary
This feminist study will define the conceptual tool of intersectionality to define the premise of
multiple identities in Feminisms Matter by Victoria L. Bromley. Bromley s conceptualization of
intersectionality is based on the premise that social norms have limied the human identity through a
binary thinking process. The traditional binary focus of society can be found in the way that people
define themselves as being male or female as separate identities. These categories are defined through
a verity of different classifications that tend to divide personal identity through institutions ands social
norms: Categories such as sex, gender, race, and class have long been used to classify and explain
everyday experiences (Bromley, p.48). These traditional mindsets are countermanded by the concept
of intersectionality, which defines a the premise of intersecting identities that can have multiple
variations. This is how Bromley identifies the problem of narrow minded categories of gender, race,
etc. which can be challenged by a broader and more complex understanding of differing identities that
are found within the paradigm of intersectionality. Bromley (2012) defines the overarching social
hierarchies that limit intersectionality, which often involve domination, power, and strict
categorizations of identity. This is defined in Bromley s symbolic use of a pie, which has been divided

Figurative Language In First Death
Elizabeth Bishop s poem First Death in Nova Scotia follows a small girl who is introduced to the
concept of death for the first time through her cousin, Arthur. Even though the narrator is just a child
who is experiencing death for this first time, she is extremely perceptive of her surroundings. The
details and language the girl uses to describe the situation illustrates the difficulty the girl is having
coming to terms with the idea of death, while also confusing her throughout the poem. The important
concepts of death, grief, and loss of innocence are conveyed by Bishop through the encounter the girl
is having with death. Bishop s theme in the poem seems to be that death can be extremely sorrowful
yet hard to understand and as such, people deal with these feelings in different ways, even children.
The narrator, being a small child, naturally uses distractions in her surroundings and her figurative
language to start to understand death at the end of the poem.
People deal with grief in different ways. As a small child, the way the narrator handles uncertainty and
pain is distressing, yet also expected. She finds distractions in the furniture and decorations. The child

the first time. The child s innocence is shown by her response to death. By finding distractions through
comparisons, word choices, and even a stuffed loon in response to the inability to comprehend the

The ability of an organization to renew passwords frequently is a significant step towards enhanced
data protection (Brown, 2010). To enhance the effectiveness of password renewal, system users should
not have the ability to use previous passwords when renewing the current ones. Implementing
password renewal on the Benefits Elections System will ensure security measures are continually
enforced, especially in the event that if an unauthorized user were to gain access to the system, the
password would only be good for a specific length of time before it will be changed.
Possible Risks Risk is a term that most people, as well as organizations, are familiar with. Risk can be
defined as the probability of any possible threat turning into a disaster, which is why significant
measures are often taken to reduce and/or eliminate such possibilities. By utilizing a SWOT analysis

The First Police Car Two Way Radio
In early April 1928, a couple of enterprising young patrol officers rigged some glass tubes and copper

Gone were the old police phone boxes, as were the foot patrols, it was the end of tradition that had

Analysis Of Henrik Ibsen s A Doll s House
The three act play A Doll s House by Henrik Ibsen, is centered around the protagonist, Nora Helmer
whose never been by herself. She lived with her father until he became ill and was left to die on his
deathbed, to living with her obliviously controlling husband, Torvald Helmer, who treats her like a
possession more than a person. In the beginning of the play, Nora s sneaky attitude is caused by her
husband treating her like a doll (hence the name, A Doll s House). He s about to get a new job running
a bank, which leads the couple not worrying about being poor. However, he is only focused on his
self, and his business. An old friend of Nora s from school, Mrs. Christine Linde, has became a widow
left with nothing and tells Nora she needs a job. She does this in hopes of Torvald willing to give her
one. While Nora mentions Christines financial problem to Torvald, she tells Christine about a debt she
owes in which she won t reveal from whom. However, Nora does reveal why she borrowed the
money. She did so because Torvald was sick from overworking and doctors told her he needed to
move South to a warmer climate. Without Torvalds approval, Nora borrowed money from a man
named Krogstad who controls the bank Torvald is about manage. This was a bold act, because during
the 1800s, women were not allowed to borrow money without their husband s permission. While this

fillings, caramel and coloring. This would take some responsibility off of some of the managers and
surely increase production time. In the logistics department, someone should be in charge of imports
and someone should be in charge of exports. This will also allow for some responsibility to taken off
the shoulders of some managers. Taking this responsibility away will give them more time to discover
new opportunities to maximize profit and minimize risk.

Heresy In Medieval Witchcraft
For us it is not lawful to introduce any doctrine of our own choosing, neither may we choose some
doctrine which someone else has introduced by his own choice. (Peters, 1980, p. 30). As early as the
second century CE, Christian writers, such as Tertullian (ca. 160 ca. 200 CE), began defining what it

greatest fears of heresy could be summoned by means of magic.
To better understand the Medieval churchmen s plight with witchcraft the subject of heresy must first
be examined. According to St. Isidore of Seville (ca. 570 636), heresy, derived from the Greek word
haeresis meaning choice, was given the name in view of the fact that each heretic, by their own will,
decided to teach and/or believe in heterodoxic manners (Peters, 1980, pp. 47, 49). St. Isidore
continues, stating, These heresies have risen against the Catholic faith and have been condemned by
the apostles, the holy Fathers, or the councils (Peters, 1980, p. 50) Thus, heresy can aptly be defined
as anything deviating specifically from the Catholic faith, not Christianity overall.
During the Medieval period, avid church goers and clergymen had many fears regarding heresy, one
of which was the spread of doubt within the faith. In a time when only churchmen could read and
write, it was their teachings of the

  • 2. Non Denominational Churches I went to a non denominational Christian church on 18 July 2015. I grew up as a member of the LDS church and I no longer go to church as well as no longer believe as well. Non denominational Christian churches have always intrigued me as well. They have rock bands in church and singing and all together a different type of preaching then I grew up knowing. I learned that there is different ways non denominational churches handle things compared to that of other Christian faiths. Overall participants reported sleeping M= 3.39 (SD=.710) around 5 8 hours. A correlation calculated between average night of sleep as: Restless:Restful and academic credits hours currently enrolled in was also computed. Pearson s r was calculated as 0.075. This data shows no relationship between these two variables. In response to the question, How many academic credit hours are you currently enrolled in? The mean response was 3.38 (SD=.894) on a 5 point scale where 3 = 13 15 credits and 4 = 16 18 credits. Overall participants reported having academic credits hours M=3.38 (SD=.894) that are between 3 18 credits. Discussion The research question revolved around whether the amount and extent of workload a student has at their disposal, how would it affect their length and quality of sleep? My hypothesis was that as student s workload increases, the amount of sleep they receive should decrease in length and quality. Based off the results of the survey, my prediction ... World War I Showed New Technology And Exposed Men And Women J Taiya Carr 3/21/16 Chapter 25 REFLECTION PAPER 3 World War I showed new technology and exposed men and women to a new type of brutality. European countries were in a state of disarray and America found itself searching for the meaning of life and happiness. Radical changes will occur in the U.S. involving politics and social ideas. Some people were shedding their old traditional skins to accept the new modern world, while others are trying to hold onto the old ways of the world. A reason America disliked immigrants was because anarchism and socialism was associated with them, especially those from countries with failing governments. Stereotypes were common even then. Now, the KKK, which had become very popular in the late 1800 s, found itself with an influx of new members. They called for 100 percent Americanism, which I am sure appealed to many Americans at the time and only allowed white Protestants to join (794). It is known that the KKK were fundamentalist, many people from the South but also other parts of the country joining. Fundamentalism and Modernists were butting heads at the time, especially with the Scopes Trial/ Monkey Trial was in the air. A school teacher, John Scopes taught his students about evolution and was arrested in Tennessee. The attorney defending Scopes was Charles Darrow. William Jennings Bryan, whom had been the Secretary of State, had recently denounced Darwinism due to his firm religious views and supported the prosecution during the Scopes Trial. I believed religion was part of the government a bit too much during these times. It is the same today because we all want a president or government official to have the same belief as we do. This would almost guarantee the laws we want being approved, such as a liberal democrat who support same sex marriage would be in favor of Hillary Clinton now. Many marine species are sensitive to changes in ocean. The effects of acidification on individual species will have ripple effects throughout the ecosystem. So, species that might not be directly affected by acidification may still be influenced by ocean acidification if their predators or prey are affected by changes in water chemistry. • 16. Personification In Animal Farm The key to the success of Animal Farm lies in the fact that it was not just a political novel. Nor was Orwell the politics obsessed figure of legend. His childhood friend Cyril Connolly wrote that he was always incorrigibly political, so that he couldn t blow his nose without moralizing on the state of the linen industry. Yet such a view is partly exaggeration, partly anachronism (Pearce 49). Animal Farm by George Orwell symbolizes the Russian Revolution that happened in 1905. Throughout this book, Orwell compares the book with the Russian Revolution through characterization, personification, and allegory. Characterization is the representation of a character who takes on the actions, gestures, and even speech patterns, of certain people. Although, as we are going to expand more on that, the major problem of accounting for leases according to Collings (2010), is the manipulation of financial statements by incorrectly categorizing finance leases as operating leases . There are even groups that can be formed called co cultures that derive from these bigger cultures. Co culture is a group comprised of a smaller number of people who hold common values, beliefs, attitudes, and customs that differ from those of the dominant culture (Sellnow et al. 45). The Design Philosophy of Ruby Ross Wood The Design Philosophy of Ruby Ross Wood D Aja Anderson Professor Jennifer Hopkins Tidewater Community College SDV 101 17 December 15, 2012 This paper expounds on the life and design style of Ruby Ross Wood. Her abstract life was during the cookie cutter times of the 1900 s. During these times the everyday woman went from being a homemaker to earning wages and being a prominent member of society. It was an excellent time in history when the women of the world stood on the threshold of greatness. The world desperately needed an eccentric, intelligent, and strong female designer in the public eye who would forever change the way we look at design and what is beautiful. Being a descendent of several families prominent in America ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... According to Baldwin, Wood s professional credo was: The final judgment in decorating is not the logic of the mind, but the logic of the eye. (Wikipedia contributors). Mrs. Wood embraced many different cultural designs, and preferred to design with old world intent rather than embrace modern design. Her Death and Legacy Ruby Ross Wood died 1950 of lung cancer. She was described by many as eccentric, but was best described by Mitchell Owens who wrote: Ruby Ross Wood was an anomaly when compared with the other prominent decorators of her day. She was not a charter member of the international social set, like Elsie de Wolfe. She was not a beautiful society divorcée, like Dorothy Draper. And she most decidedly was not a glamorous kept woman, like Rose Cumming. Instead, Ruby Ross Wood chain smoking, impatient, tart tongued was what used to be called a working girl. Ruby Wood did not start her career with the intention to become a world famous interior designer, but she did become one. She was different in many ways from the interior decorators of her time, but from the looks of things that is what made her work so exciting and vibrant. She is also a great example of realizing and pursing your dreams. She found her passion in life and followed through to the end, and even when she failed she kept going. When thinking of Ruby Ross Wood you should not only admire her design ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Mount Vesuvius is a stratovolcano located near the bay of Naples in Italy (at the convergent boundary where the African Plate is being subducted beneath the Eurasian Plate), and it is mostly known for its eruption year 79 A.D. that buried the city Pompeii under a thick layer of volcanic ash. Although the destruction of the Roman cities Pompeii and Herculaneum is mostly mentioned when talking about the eruption, Mount Vesuvius also affected other cities such as Oplontis, Stabiae, and Nuceria. (Cashdollar et al. 1982) A Plinian eruption, also known as a Vesuvian eruption, is an eruption marked by columns of gas and volcanic ash extending high into the atmosphere, as well as a large amount of pumice and very continuous gas blast eruptions. A pyroclastic flow is one of the most dangerous forces released by an erupting volcano. A column of hot gas and ash is thrown into the air and collapses under its own weight. It then roars down the side of the volcano, obliterating everything in its path. (Watson 2011) The collapse of the gases in the pyroclastic flow was divided into several surges, and it is believed that surges 4 and 5 destroyed Pompeii. Pompeii, along with Herculaneum, was mostly destroyed and buried under 4 to 6 meters of ash and pumice. (Santillo Frizell 2006) Importance As we know now, Pompeii was buried although not completely destroyed by the powerful eruption of Mount Vesuvius. Today, the buried buildings of the ancient city have been uncovered and have survived to show us in amazing detail what town life was like under Roman rule, and because of this, the discovery of Pompeii is of huge importance for our understanding of the Roman world. When the pyroclastic flow enveloped Pompeii, its inhabitants were buried along with their city. Ash solidified around their bodies that eventually rotted away, leaving behind human shaped holes found by archaeologists more than 1,000 years later. These casts reveal the final ... • 28. Cultural Relativism, By Lila Abu Lughod Cultural relativism is the view that we should seek to understand other cultures within their own context, rather than through the biased understanding of our own cultural beliefs. When Americans see Bedouin women wearing veils, they are likely to view this practice in the context of their own culture and see it purely as an act of male oppression an idea that would be very confounding and offensive to Bedouin women themselves. To say that, in the future, Bedouin women might be free to not be veiled undermines Bedouin culture because it fundamentally misunderstands the practice of veiling, speaking about it in an American context rather than a Bedouin context. So in order to understand the practice of veiling, we must think in terms of ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The Bedouin believe that showing these things to others is a form of exposure. For this reason, they value extreme modesty, and find sexuality to be very shameful. Because they can bear children, women are directly tied to ideas of fertility, which is both valued and looked down upon in Bedouin life. Because of menstruation, which cannot be controlled, a woman cannot ever fully have agl. This is one part of why women in Bedouin culture are considered inferior to men. Another concept at the core of Bedouin ethics, which is linked to aṣl in some ways, is kinship. Bedouin people have an ideology of very strong, natural, unbreakable bonds of blood, especially through agnates (those in the same male bloodline). The concept of kinship is not restricted to blood, but also extends to those who live together, sharing a type of temporary bond. Loyalty to friends and family is very important to the Bedouin, and so the concept of kinship ties directly back into their sense of honor. Within Bedouin culture, directly connected to the concept of kin, is a complex hierarchical social structure of superiors and dependents. It is true that Bedouin men are generally dominant over Bedouin women, but for the Bedouin the concept of authority is derived from moral worthiness. Marble Drop Lab Report Bryan Ruef Period 6 AP Physics Lab Report Marble Drop Experiment Problem: This lab was designed to prove that the height of an object launched on a ramp is relational to the distance it goes off the ramp. Hypothesis: When releasing a marble off of a ramp on a table, the higher up that the marble starts on the ramp, the farther it should land from the table on the ground. Design: We placed a small ramp on a table and used clamps to ensure the ramp wouldn t move and change our results. With tape, we marked each height we would drop the marble from. Using a meter stick, we measured the height of the table, base of the ramp, and the height of each place the marble would be dropped. On our paper, which we taped to the ground to prevent ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... This positive slope shows that as the ramp heights increased, so did the distance the marbles traveled. However, there were problems with the experiment. First, the meter stick did not have perfect ends. This caused uncertainty because the measurements were not accurate. The meter stick was not compared with others to see if it was reasonably close. Another error was that we did not have a constant release method. We placed the marble on the ramp each time and just let go. The marble could have stuck to our hand and been released higher or lower than we wanted it to. Also, there could have been human error since we released the marble by hand and we could have moved up or down accidentally. The final error was that we used multiple different marbles for the lab. They could have had different weights or shapes. Even the slightest difference in shape would affect where it landed. Solutions to the meter stick error are simple. We could have bought a new meter stick with perfect ends. If we were not able to buy one, we could have compared it to many other meter sticks and used whichever one was most ... Victoria L Bromley Feminisms Matter Summary This feminist study will define the conceptual tool of intersectionality to define the premise of multiple identities in Feminisms Matter by Victoria L. Bromley. Bromley s conceptualization of intersectionality is based on the premise that social norms have limied the human identity through a binary thinking process. The traditional binary focus of society can be found in the way that people define themselves as being male or female as separate identities. These categories are defined through a verity of different classifications that tend to divide personal identity through institutions ands social norms: Categories such as sex, gender, race, and class have long been used to classify and explain everyday experiences (Bromley, p.48). These traditional mindsets are countermanded by the concept of intersectionality, which defines a the premise of intersecting identities that can have multiple variations. This is how Bromley identifies the problem of narrow minded categories of gender, race, etc. which can be challenged by a broader and more complex understanding of differing identities that are found within the paradigm of intersectionality. Figurative Language In First Death Elizabeth Bishop s poem First Death in Nova Scotia follows a small girl who is introduced to the concept of death for the first time through her cousin, Arthur. Even though the narrator is just a child who is experiencing death for this first time, she is extremely perceptive of her surroundings. The details and language the girl uses to describe the situation illustrates the difficulty the girl is having coming to terms with the idea of death, while also confusing her throughout the poem. The important concepts of death, grief, and loss of innocence are conveyed by Bishop through the encounter the girl is having with death. Bishop s theme in the poem seems to be that death can be extremely sorrowful yet hard to understand and as such, people deal with these feelings in different ways, even children. • 42. Heresy In Medieval Witchcraft For us it is not lawful to introduce any doctrine of our own choosing, neither may we choose some doctrine which someone else has introduced by his own choice. (Peters, 1980, p. 30). As early as the second century CE, Christian writers, such as Tertullian (ca. 160 ca. 200 CE), began defining what it was to be a heretic and what heresy could lead to (Peters, 1980, p. 29). Medieval churchmen believed there was much to fear from heresy, but the practice of witchcraft was especially troubling, as their greatest fears of heresy could be summoned by means of magic. To better understand the Medieval churchmen s plight with witchcraft the subject of heresy must first be examined. According to St. Isidore of Seville (ca. 570 636), heresy, derived from the Greek word haeresis meaning choice, was given the name in view of the fact that each heretic, by their own will, decided to teach and/or believe in heterodoxic manners (Peters, 1980, pp. 47, 49). St. Isidore continues, stating, These heresies have risen against the Catholic faith and have been condemned by the apostles, the holy Fathers, or the councils (Peters, 1980, p. 50) Thus, heresy can aptly be defined as anything deviating specifically from the Catholic faith, not Christianity overall. During the Medieval period, avid church goers and clergymen had many fears regarding heresy, one of which was the spread of doubt within the faith.
