INTRODUCTION: The social acceptance of alcohol all over the world, whether it be social or
cultural, is the leading cause of why alcohol addiction is so prevalent especially in the United States.
Alcohol is the second leading cause of death in the US and one of the most abused drugs worldwide. It
is the third leading preventable cause of death in the United States with nearly 88,000 peaople dying
from it annually (Alcohol Facts and Statistics). There are many facts and statistics that are available
throughout the internet and pamphlets that are passed around in school, however, this does not seem to
scare those away from binge drinking. Drinking too much has many harmful effects on many of your
body s organs and immune system and can increase the risk of many cancers such as liver, breast, and
esophagus cancers. To many people, alcohol is not a serious issue especially because it is used so
commonly but thousands and thousands of people are killed throughout the United States every year
because of this preventable issue. As a public health provider, I believe that alcohol abuse is a
detriment to our society because of how many lives are taken from it. Alcohol addiction can cause
many health problems and personality changes that not only affects one person, but can also affect
their friends and family. The problem that makes alcohol addiction so frustrating is that it is
completely preventable because of the resources that are available to help a person quit.

Many colleges and universities throughout the United States and several other countries face a
common problem. Student retention is a growing problem across the nation for all ethnic groups and
all ages. Each individual who chooses to drop out of school has their own personal reasons as to why

I find the argument that the repentance required for salvation can be considered a work to be
interesting, but ultimately incorrect. It seems to me that repentance, defined as the abandonment of
sin, inspired by godly sorrow for our sin (Erickson 352), is still enabled, or even given to us, by the
Lord, without whose influence we would not be capable, in our total depravity, of experiencing a truly
godly sorrow over our sin. Also, I disagree with the argument that repentance moves us away from
salvation by faith alone, as repentance is part of faith. True faith cannot be separated from repentance
(352), as they are interwoven together, or two sides of the same coin (Zuck 5). For example, the self
stated purpose of the Gospel of John is so that you may believe that Jesus is the Christ, the Son of
God, and that by believing you may have life in His name (English Standard Version, John 20:31).
The entire book of John, which is clearly evangelistic and dedicated to bringing people to faith in
Christ (as God), does not speak of repentance at all, indicating its position as an aspect of conversion

The United States border stretches for thousands of miles of harsh desert and forest landscape,
between two oceans, over lakes and rivers and deals with the highest amount of immigrant traffic in

Machiavelli s The Prince outlines tactics for a leader to seize and maintain lands under his power. His
tactics have been demonstrated repeatedly throughout history, and though his approach is hardly
ethical or idealistic, one cannot deny the fact that it has proved to be effective. Hitler is an example
that exemplifies the accuracy of what Machiavelli said would bring success in the acquisition of new

An example of when police discretion was not used in a controlled and regulated manner was when
Mr. Samuel Dubose was shot and killed on July 19, 2015, over his front license plate missing on the
vehicle he was driving. Mr. Dubose was driving just south of University of Cincinnati around 6:30
p.m. when Officer Tensing began following him (Capehart, 2015). The university police share
jurisdiction with city officers on streets around the campus (Capehart, 2015). However, where the
driver was pulled over and killed at was outside of the shared jurisdiction. According to Capehart
(2015), The University of Cincinnati police officer Ray Tensing lied about the events leading up to the
shooting and the officer s body worn camera exposed the truth of what really happened that day. In the
video, the officer is asking Mr. Dubose repeatedly for his driver s license . Mr. Dubose replies that he
has a driver s license but does not have it with him. Mr. Dubose also states that the missing license
