Brutus Funeral Speech Analysis
According to picturequotes.com, Words are powerful. They can create or they can destroy. So choose
your words wisely. In Julius Caesar, by William Shakespeare, conspirators slay Julius Caesar,
resulting in anarchy in Rome. Some agree with the death, while others oppose the sudden and violent
death of Caesar. Unlike Antony, Brutus uses emotion rather than fact to sway the Roman people that
Caesars death is justified. Although Brutus puts rules in place so he can not talk disrespectfully of the
conspiracy, Antony, Caesar s closest friend, uses his slyness and manipulation in his funeral speech to
persuade the Romans. Although both characters use analogies, parallelism, loaded words and
hyperboles, their speeches convey very different ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
By making the Romans think about this topic, Brutus gains support and the audience feels like the
death of Caesar is justified. After Brutus finishes his speech, Antony speaks about his opinion on the
issue; unlike Brutus, Antony acts slyly and communicates a very manipulative tone to persuade the
Romans to rebel. Because of Antony s use of parallelism, he creates vivid reasoning for his speech. He
states, I come here to bury Caesar, not to praise him (III.ii.44). By using this device, he shows the
people of Rome that he isn t praising Caesar, he is putting the leader to rest. This particular line creates
a very manipulative tone, because his speech is all about what great this Caesar has done and how he
wants to rebel against the conspirators. Further more, Antony uses a lot of irony to slyly get his point
across. One example that he uses throughout the speech is Yet Brutus says he was ambitious, and
Brutus is a honorable man (III.ii.44). Because of the repitition of this ironic statement, the meaning of
it changes and intensifies. At first, his tone was sincere, but as the speech progresses, you can see his
sarcastic tone increases. Antony does this because he has to use this device to surpass the regulations
of Brutus, as well as make the romans listen. Lastly, he uses personification to give life and further
meaning to a word. Early in the speech, Antony says, The evil

Belle: Hello Ipoly! We are calling from Male, an island in the Maldives as you can see behind me.
This is Dylan, Joey, Magdalena, and I am Belle. Malé is the capital of an island chain off the coast of

Dylan: The Maldives are a key tourist destination due to the beautiful coral that lines the sea floor.
There is an incredible amount of biodiversity here. Animals ranging from bats to parrotfish populate
these tiny islands and the waters that surround it and they help keep the ecosystem stable.
Magdalena: Their biggest problem is that the sea level is rising, and it is threatening to devour the

Human Factors Influencing Polices In The Workplace
Human factors influence polices in the BYOD practice in the workplace because for the most part
employees are comfortable and prefer using their own devices compared to company issued devices as
they can often multitask between personal and business access. The use of mobile devices comes with
the consequences of the device being stolen, lost and exposed to threats. The possibility of these
devices falling in the wrong hands or stranger not authorized access to data could result to harmful
software application being uploaded or downloaded which could infect the device and compromise the
network. The use of public and unsecure WIFI connection is also an easy avenue for mobile devices to

The Importance Of Sin And Evil In Hawthorne s Young...
In the short story, Young Goodman Brown written by Nathaniel Hawthorne uses some of the puritan
activities towards Goodman s dream, such as secrecy of sin and evil. The story introduces, a young
and innocent man, Goodman Brown bid farewell to his wife but his wife did not want him to leave, so
he left just for the day. He begins his walk into a dreary road, darkened by all the gloomiest trees of
the forest (Hawthorne 1300) and was approached by a man also known as the devil. Throughout the
trip, Goodman Brown tried to resist him but the man reminded him that his father and grandfather
walked through the same path. In the story, Hawthorne brought out resemblance by using puritan s

Also, they believed God knew everything you did and he will make his decision to select you to be in
heaven or hell. However, the puritans were not sure if they were saved or not. Therefore, the puritans
were continually looking at their lives, especially their thoughts, actions, and preference to make sure
to see they were living faithfully. In order for the puritans to know if they were living faithfully, they
were given signs or dreams, similar to Goodman and his dream. Whether it was a reality check or
dream, Goodman s dream places him to question him about his faith and salvation. Also, it was a sign
from God that Goodman was straying from his path of God s salvation. Hawthorne s portrays
Goodman s dream as a punishment from God similar to the puritan s punishment which were failure to
follow through and obey the laws causes not to receive blessings upon the family, or yourself, and etc.
Hawthorne mentions, My Faith is gone! There is no good on earth; and sin is but a name. Come devil;
for to thee is this world given (Hawthrone 1304) which indicates Goodman s loss of faith was a form
of punishment from God. Every now and then, the puritans did not believe that they could be saved by
how they lived or indicate whether they might be saved, so they started to lose their faith. Few years
later, Generations of the puritans lost attachment of their beliefs that they were born into.

Gender Stereotypes In Video Games
Introduction
As per the findings of the general social survey, administered by Statistics Canada (2010), video game
usage has more than doubled in the last 20 years. Most researchers seem to agree that the stereotypical
video game player is a young, white, heterosexual male (e.g. Shaw, 2012; Williams, Consalvo,
Caplan, Yee, 2009). In considering the topic of gender and gaming, one of the first questions to
consider is whether or not this stereotypical view of video game players is accurate. The
Entertainment Software Association (ESA) publishes a report containing statistics on video game
player demographics each year. In comparing these reports over time, an interesting trend is noted;
though males account for the majority of video game ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

Additionally, scantily clad clothing was added as a coding category. Scantily clad was defined as
insufficient clothing (e.g., neckline that exposes décolletage or bikinis). Each of the characteristics
identified by Burgess et al. (2007) portrayal in a sexy way, exaggerated bust, vulgar clothing, tight
clothing to accentuate body parts, and scantily clad clothing were rated as a count; the number of
characters displaying the aforementioned categories was recorded. The definition of physical
objectification for men was the same as for women; however, exaggerated bust was excluded from the
coding. Additionally, since not all video games include human characters, each game s cover was
rated for the absence/presence of human characters, as well as the number of human characters
present. Also, each human character s apparent sex was recorded.

How Do You Think the Asian Passenger Air Transport...
The Asian passenger air transport marketplace will stable and growing rapidly.
The latest Airbus Global Market Forecast (GMF), released in December 2010, shows that key drivers
for the marketplace are the replacement of aircraft for newer more eco efficient models in mature
markets, dynamic growth in new emerging markets, the further growth of low cost carriers particularly
in Asia Pacific and Europe, further market liberalisation and capacity growth on existing routes.
In 2010, views on whether low fare airlines would continue to flourish in Asia varied. Three factors
regulation, population demographics, and socioeconomic trends drove this calculus. Although the
target consumer base for AirAsia was enormous more than 500 million ... Show more content on

Surcharges and baggage fees covered some of this but the airline was conscious that if it loaded on the
full charge, it might find no demand on some flights due to a high base price (e.g. minimum or zero
fare plus taxes, fees and surcharges). To offset this eventuality, AirAsia did a lot to improve operations
and efficiency and also saw the benefits of the fuel efficient Airbus 320 help to maintain its low fares
brand position.
To retain its cost advantage in the wake of the global recession, AirAsia entered into an alliance in
January 2010 with Jetstar, the low fare subsidiary of Australia s flag carrier, Qantas. This was the first
time two leading budget airlines had collaborated in this fashion. The alliance allowed the companies
to explore joint aircraft purchasing, passenger and ground handling services cooperation and the
transportation of each other s passengers in the event of a disruption. Assuming the focus of the
alliance was on cost sharing for services and aircraft procurement, it might prove effective.
AirAsia had played the game very well and had ambitious growth plans to keep ahead of the pack.
Time would tell if Fernandes and his team could maintain the company s position as Asia s or perhaps
the globe s most successful budget airline.
But what were the business implications for AirAsia if oil prices remained above $100 a barrel for the
foreseeable future? Little possibility. Between slim and none

I Am Proud of Who I Am Essay
Ralph Waldo Emerson once said To be yourself in a world that is trying to make you something else is
a great accomplishment . Who am I? is question that many often struggle to answer, but for me it
allows me to differentiate from my constituents and express who I really am. What makes me such a
unique individual is my ability to identify with 5 strong strengths. I love the fact that I am futuristic
and I have the ability to relate, I am responsible, I am a developer and last but not least I am
disciplined. Each one these themes shape and generate my personality. Born on February 22nd 2000 I

victim and an advocate for bullying I want to highlight the situation and teach the girls how to detect
signs and how to deal with a bully. I had my parents to help me but my goal is to target those that don

The Bombing of Hiroshima Essay
The Bombing of Hiroshima On August 6, 1945, a B 29 bomber named Enola Gay dropped an atomic
bomb, little boy on Hiroshima, Japan. Hiroshima had been almost eradicated with an estimated 70
80,000 people killed. Three days later, a second, more powerful bomb was dropped on the Japanese
city of Nagasaki, killing over 100,000 people. Since Japan was economically and militarily devastated
by the late summer of 1945, the use of the atomic bombs on an already overcome Japan was
unnecessary and unwarranted in bringing about a conclusion to the war in the Pacific. By the end of
the war, the U.S. forces had pushed the Japanese far back into their country, leaving them no access to
any resources from the Indies. Japanese cities and ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
A similar reasoning could be applied to the usage of the second bomb, fat man, which was dropped on
Nagasaki three days later. One could wonder if the motive behind this second attack was similar to the
first; the only difference being that the bomb to be tested this time was considerably more powerful.
The final say on whether or not to drop the bomb came from President Harry Truman, who had help
from a special committee known as the Interim Committee. This organization was made up of
Secretary Stimson as chairman; President Truman s personal representative, James F. Byrnes; the
Under Secretary of the Navy, William L. Clayton; and the Assistant Secretary of State as well as many
others. The work of the Interim Committee was to discuss the uses of the bomb and whether or not it
would be wise to use nuclear force against Japan in combat. On July 1, 1945, the committee submitted
a report to President Truman stating that: 1. The bomb should be used against Japan as soon as
possible. 2. It should be used against a military target surrounded by other buildings. 3. It should be
used without prior warning of the nature of the weapon. The Interim Committee decided against
warning the Japanese about the atomic bomb because they claimed that they weren t sure if it would
detonate. Not one of the Chiefs nor the Secretary thought well of a bomb

Advantages Of Living In A Small Town
Living In A Small Town Has Unique Challenges
From an outsider s perspective, living in a small town such as Agassiz seems like a pleasant and
relaxing place to live; you get to know everyone, everything you need is within walking distance from
your house, and it s relatively safer than the city. However, as someone who has lived in the town of
Agassiz her whole life, I have learned from firsthand experiences that small towns aren t as peaceful
as they seem. For example, the town has become too close knit. This is due to the low population of
students within the schools, mixed with the fact that a majority families have been here for several
generations. As a result, cliques develop; causing drama and spreading gossip. Consequently, there
just isn t any privacy in Agassiz. Moreover, the few businesses that Agassiz has are basically all the
same; overpriced convenience stores that never have what you need, and an alarming number of pizza
places for such a restricted space. An easy solution for the issues that Agassiz suffers from is
something that is already being implemented; expand the population by adding more housing and
unique businesses.
There are three schools in Agassiz; two elementary schools and a high school. As someone who
attended these schools, I noticed quickly that if your parents weren t close to the other parents and the
principal, it was hard to make friends or have your opinions catered to. This was most prominent in
the high school, where great deals of the students families are close to the principal. As a result of this,
they are often given a special treatment, meaning they get away with being bullies. I experienced
several times where a group of these kids bullied people until they switched to another school, because
the principal refused to help them out in any way. More personally, the principal wouldn t let me
switch out of a class to another class that I needed to take to get into my preferred university program,
which has made the transition into university even more stressful. Additionally, the school has an
extremely low population only 300 kids the year that I graduated that you get to know everybody,
which isn t ideal; I often heard way too much about other people s personal

Civil Society And Its Prospects For A Democratic Transition
Civil Society in Cuba and Its Prospects for a Democratic Transition
4/23/12
Although evidence has shown that civil society is developing in Cuba, the country will probably not
undergo a democratic transition in the near future. Civil society is still repressed by the government,
independent media is mostly silenced, and many of Cuba s citizens appear understandably apathetic.
Cuba will only transition to democracy, develop a democratic political culture, and consolidate its
democracy only when civil society develops to a position of organization, strength, and mass support.
This essay seeks to analyze the major impediments in Cuba s prospects for democracy.
Political History
Cuba was one of the last Latin American nations to gain independence. The island won its
independence from Spain in 1898, but was taken over by the United States after its victory in the
Spanish American War. In 1902, Cuba won its independence from the United States. In 1940, Batista
was elected president but was voted out of office in 1944. From 1944 until 1952, the country was
ruled by civilian presidents who had the support of political parties. In 1952, Batista orchestrated a
coup after being out of office for eight years and presided over a seven year military dictatorship.
Batista s anti communism won him the support of the United States, but his administration was
extremely corrupt and his closeness with the United States angered many Cubans. In addition, under

American Gambling History
According to the Encyclopedia Britannica gambling is the betting or staking of something of value,
with consciousness of risk and hope of gain, on the outcome of a game, a contest, or an uncertain
event whose result may be determined by chance or accident or have an unexpected result by reason
of the bettor s miscalculation (Glimne). This paper looks to provide an overview the history of
gambling and the role mathematics plays in this billion dollar industry. Gambling has been in our
society since ancient Greek times. Objects similar to dice have been found back as far as 40,000 years
and cave drawings of games provide further evidence that gambling and games have been around for a
very long time (Black). Games of chance, such as dice games, heads and tails, and other luck based
games have been popular and played by many different groups throughout history. The equivalence of
casinos existed in ancient times. These places were designated for people who were passionate about
the games they played. Even then, these places had a bad reputation as they were known for stripping
people of their fortunes.

Warfarin Therapy Research Paper
There has been much debate between physicians about the need for heparin or a low molecular weight
heparin (LMWH) use when initiating warfarin therapy for anticoagulation. The use of heparin or a
LMWH when initiating warfarin therapy has been justified by a theoretical possibility of a transient
hypercoaguable state from the warfarin use. Many physicians believe that the only safe and effective
way to start a patient on warfarin is with the use of one of these heparins, however, the
hypercoaguable state is just a theoretical possibility. Also, heparin bridging must be done in a hospital
where the levels can be monitored, while a LMWH can be done at home, but is usually relatively
expensive and requires the patient to give themselves injections. ... Show more content on

What Does God Mean To Me Essay
God is everywhere, God watches and cares for you and is something different to everyone. To me,
God is a higher power that is always there to comfort you and forgives you no matter what. God
watches over you, protects you, and cares for you. Whenever I am either confused or in need of some
advice, I know that God is always there to help me. Additionally, the images and ideas that I have
about God are that God is in everything. He is in the plants and nature s beauty, and in dogs and other
living things. I know I see God in things when I need the advice. For example, when I have a hard day
and I come home and my dog is excited to see me, I see that God is watching out for me and wants me
to realize that someone or something is always excited to see me. It helps me see the glass half full
instead of half empty. Lastly, some significant events that have shaped my view of God and who he is
to me are hiking and school. Whenever I go hiking and see the beauty around me that God has created
in this world, I change my view on him and realize the beauty God creates. Additionally, when I go to
school my image of God changes too. In class, whenever other people bring up their perspectives of
God and where they see him, I think back to my image of God and how what someone said affects my
image or changes it. Overall, God is a provider and someone who watches over me through nature and
other living things. Additionally, throughout our world, there are many issues that the Catholic

History And Background Of Chinese Cuisine
History/ Background
Chinese is one of the oldest cultures in the world. The Xia dynasty is known as the first to rule the
entire China in 2070 BC. Therefore, along with the time, there have been many changes in the history
of Chinese cuisine. Dim Sum is related with the term yum cha , which means to drink tea . This is
started at around hundreds years ago, in Canton (Guangdong Province), when the travellers on the
ancient Silk Road took some rest in the middle of their journey, and they usually had some tea and
meals. However, it is said that people could gain excessive weight by consuming food while drinking
tea. Then the idea to serve some snacks or small bites food was created by the teahouse owner, and
that was the beginning of dim sum.
There are various types of dim sum, approximately around 2000 of them since the 10th century, but
there are only 100 kinds that we can find in dim sum restaurant nowadays. Although dim sum was
originated in Guangdong Province (Canton), it is also very popular in Hong Kong. It is even said that
Hong Kong provides better dim sum and more popular. Dim sum usually sold between 6.30am until
afternoon, and served for breakfast to brunch. However, since there is a lot of variety of dim sum
dishes, each of the food has its own history, as China is a very large nation with old culture and
history.

The Political Structure Of The Japanese Political System...
Unlike the American political system, which has the same political system as it did when the country
was created, the Japanese political system is a more recent construct that was created as a result of
millennia of imperial rule that slowly morphed into the constitutional monarchy that it is today.
Throughout this process of shifting their political structure there has been heavy influence from the
west, especially America and England to create a more democratic way of governing their nation.
Although the Japanese government is similar to the US government, the imperial roots create a
different governmental structure that creates different displays of power. It is said in The Nihon Shoki,
one of the oldest books of Japanese history, that Japan was founded by Emperor Jimmu in 660 BC.
The Japanese Emperor was the sovereign ruler of the country until the Emperor s rule began to end in
the mid 12th century. The Japanese government shifted from imperial rule to shogunate rule after the
Genpei War of 1180 1185. Shoguns were Japanese military rulers who would be appointed by the
Emperor, but would hold all the power. It was around this time as well that the Japanese began to
mingle with Europeans and begin to trade with the Portuguese and the Dutch. This spiked the
economy because of Japan s abundance of precious metals and began to peak the Japanese s interest in
western culture. Shogunate rule ended after the Meiji Restoration of 1868, when imperial rule returned
to Japan.

Vaccines are made up of a weakened version of the bacteria or virus, or dead forms of the organism, or
in other cases, an inactivated toxin that is produced by the bacteria. Upon the introduction of vaccine
into the body, the immune system is manipulated into thinking that the body is under attack and
produces specific antibodies as a defense mechanism. These antibodies stay in the bloodstream,
protecting the body against actual infections for months, years or even a lifetime.
Why are vaccines important, especially for children and immune compromised adults? Vaccination
protects from serious illness and complications caused by vaccine preventable diseases. Despite many
efforts and medical advances, infectious diseases like measles, mumps, and whooping cough are still a
threat and often there are no cures available for these diseases. Smallpox has been eradicated due to a
vaccine and many expect that other terrible infectious diseases will be eliminated in the near future.
This paper will explore (1) the history of vaccination, (2) pros and cons of vaccinations, and lastly (3)
the future of vaccines.
Well before Dr. Edward Jenner made an impact on human disease by creating the world s first vaccine
for smallpox in 1796, people in China, Africa and Turkey were practicing variolations as early as
1,000 CE. Variolation involved inhaling a powder made from smallpox scabs, much like the modern
day flu mist. It evolved to a process where pus from smallpox pustules is applied to a

Baruch Spinoza Research Paper
Baruch Spinoza was a dutch philosopher in the late 1600s who is mostly known for his ethics. Spinoza
s ideology was very much influenced by René Descartes. His idea was to try and reinvent religion.
Which means that it would have to be a discipline that would have to be far more impersonal,
scientific and far more counseling and not based on superstition. Spinoza s metaphysics consists of
one thing, substance, and its modifications. Spinoza argues that there is only one substance making up
this universe, which is absolutely infinite, self caused, and eternal. He calls this substance God .
Spinoza s main point that he has been arguing with his ethics were aimed towards the jewish religion
as that is what he once was before he gradually stepped away from it. From when they were first
published to now, Spinoza s ethics have influenced many people.
Like the other philosophers, he has a theory on how to reach true happiness. Jostein Gaarder shows
Spinoza s beliefs through Sophia s World on page (376), Ambition and lust prevent humans from
achieving true happiness, but if people recognize that everything happens from ... Show more content

Spinoza s ethics has helped prepare for the modern day criticism of the bible. We still use Spinoza s
ethics because we love god but there are many people who will not let god lead us. Spinoza says that
to understand god you need to understand how the life and the universe work, which we have done
because of the development in the sciences throughout our universe by the study of biology,
psychology, and natural sciences. Another thing that Spinoza talks about is the nature of time and how
we don t use it wisely in a form that does not help our intelligence. Spinoza has stated that a wise man
that understands how and why things are the way that they are has eternal and complete peace with
god. Spinoza s ethics are still being used in everyday lives but a lot of people don t even

Argumentative Speech On Fast Food
My fellow citizens, as Americans, we proudly call ourselves the greatest nation in the world the
pioneers and forward thinkers of the western civilization. So I ask you, why are we the second most
overweight nation in the world? This is a raging epidemic which has caused one 1/3 of us to be
overweight and further 35% of us to plunge into obesity! It is damaging both our economy and more
importantly our wellbeing. Approximately $190 billion is spent in extra obesity related medical
expenses per year within America. It s not just us; it s affecting our children, the next generation of
pioneers and forward thinkers, the children of America. 7% of American children are already obese! I
am here today to propose the idea of banning the fast food production industry. ... Show more content

Is it the temptation of the shortcuts that modern technology can provide to make life so efficient and
easy? Yes. But I believe that the driving force behind obesity in America today is the fast food
production industry. We are faced with a country whereby the adults of Mississippi cannot manage to
eat even 1 piece fruit per day; it s not surprising that they are the most overweight state in America. In
North Dakota, there are 0.85 McDonalds per thousand residents and, unsurprisingly, they have a 31%
obesity rate, however in Utah, where the obesity rate is only 24.1%, and they have the lowest high
school obesity rate at 6.1%, there is just half a McDonalds per every thousand resident. There is a
clear correlation showing. As the fast food industry has become bigger, so have we. In 1972, we spent
3 billion a year on fast food today we spend more than $110 billion. In every single state, the obesity
rate has risen drastically in this same time

Manliness In Things Fall Apart
Use This One Weird Trick To Make Manliness Your Harmarta!!?!!!!
Can someone s greatest strength also be their greatest weakness? It can be, it may seem paradoxical
but it is entirely possible if the characteristic brings them the most good and the most bad throughout
the course of their life. Okonkwo s greatest strength was his manliness because it made him a very
successful man in Umuofia. However, his manliness was also his greatest weakness because it
prevented him from being close to his family and it caused him to fight the changes his clan was going
through, which caused his death.
Manliness is one of the most important values in Umuofia. When I say manliness I mean the
Umuofian interpretation of manliness. Which is a mixture of strength, determination, and lack of
sentimentality. Okonkwo exemplifies all of these traits and because of this he becomes an important
and respected man in his village: Okonkwo was well known throughout the nine villages and even
beyond. His fame rested on solid personal achievements (3). His determination and strength led to
great successes such as beating the cat at wrestling and being an excellent ... Show more content on

However,But his culture is changing, the values of manliness are being replaced by the values of the
new religion, Cchristianity: Okonkwo was deeply grieved. And it was not just personal grief. He
mourned for the clan, which he saw breaking up and falling apart, and he mourned for the warlike
men of Umuofia, who has unaccountably become soft like women (183). The people of his village are
changing, they are no longer the warlike men that they once were. He sees how his clan is changing
and when he realizes that he can not stop the change, he takes his own life. He cannot not and will not
live in a world so different than the one he used to. In the end Okonkwo s manliness is the reason he

An Article On The World Anti Doping Agency
On June 9th, 2016, an article written by ESPN Senior Writer, Darren Rovell, was published on
ESPN.com regarding Maria Sharapova s two year suspension over a positive doping test result
(Rovell, 2016). Maria Sharapova, the highest paid female athlete today, announced in March 2016 that
she tested positive for taking meldonium, a banned substance that was recently added to the World
Anti Doping Agency s (WADA) prohibited substance list. Initially, the International Tennis Federation
(ITF) suspended Sharapova for two years but after an appeal to the Court of Arbitration for Sport
(CAS) by the Sharapova team, the Russian tennis star s suspension was reduced to 15 months and she
can return to competition in April 2017. Meldonium is a heart drug that is available for purchase over
the counter in Russia. This drug is believed to help the body produce energy in a more efficient
manner. Sharapova was unintentionally committing a doping violation, which is the ethical issue in
this situation. She had been taking meldonium since 2006 to help her manage multiple health
problems. Sharapova however, was not the only athlete that tested positive for meldonium. There were
around 172 athletes in total, 40 whom were Russian that also failed a drug test for taking meldonium.
This affected Russia s attendance in the Rio Olympic Games as a number of athletes were banned
from participating in the Games for their meldonium intake. Sharapova s ethical orientation affects her
behaviour and the

Improving The Immigration Policy
Many immigrants feel like it is a challenge to be accepted into another country. Some minorities feel
as if congress is not doing an exceptional job on how their immigration policy runs. The Immigration
policies between the United States of America and South Africa are incredibly similar; it seems as if
both countries are not considering minorities to be important in another country. Even though they don
t highly appreciate minorities, they both have an elevated focus for defense of security and health.
Congress is blind to the fact a majority of the workforce going on in the United States are not

Walt Disney s Maternal Archetypes
An archetype by definition is, an original model or pattern from which other later copies are made,
especially a character ( Literary Terms and Definitions A. ) I based myself on recurring images which
include animals and the passing of the maternal symbol. Walt Disney was the first to combine both
recurring images to portray the importance of the maternal archetype. He did so on widely known
animated films in the United States. Walt Disney, the creator of a plethora of Disney films, was the
first to establish a special relationship between the mother and the child of commonly known animals.
He did so on a notable amount of animated films. Disney uses emotion as one of his strongest focal
points. Through the use of emotion, the audience is able to relate to the story. Walt Disney s skillful
use of sentiment creates new ways of seeing the maternal archetype. He uses symbolic animal
archetypes and the aspect of an unstable family to Walt Disney further develop the importance of the

One reason is practical because the movies are 80 or 90 minutes long, and Disney films are about

Drug Seizures In Canada Case Study
Bouchard et al. (2011) assert that there are no assessments regarding the amount of ATS being
produced and the amount of ATS lab seizures stays low. Estimates for ATS use and seizure data
suggest that there is an annual surplus of between 1733 kg and 8624 kg of ATS available to be
exported from Canada (Bouchard et al., 2011). Bouchard et al. (2011) contend that this indicates that
somewhere between 38% and 75% of ATS produced in Canada is exported. Organized crime groups
have greatly increased synthetic drug export to foreign countries, such as the United States, Japan,

maintain that from 2004, the amount of MDMA (ecstasy) shipments and the quantity of ecstasy seized

took the Netherlands and Belgium s place as the predominant source of ecstasy supply both
domestically and in the United States illicit drug market (NIA et al., 2007). A more recent report by
the RCMP indicates that the situation with respect to synthesis, distribution and export of ecstasy is
rapidly escalating (NIA et al., 2010). National Intelligence Analysis et al. (2010) argue that land
transport is the main method of smuggling MDMA through the Canada US border as rail and air
methods of shipment are not as common. Canada would export MDMA to nations in the Asia Pacific
region, and MDMA seizures in Mexico and Jamaica indicated that criminal organizations in Canada
were further expanding their international operations (NIA et al., 2010). Although there is a stable
market for MDMA in Canada, it is being over produced, and that excess of MDMA is being used for a
lucrative export (Hudson et al., 2014). This is confirmed by a United Nations Office on Drugs and
Crime report, which contends that the predominant source of ecstasy in North America is criminal
organizations in Canada (Hudson et al., 2014). Even though MDMA trafficking is occurring all across

The Lost Boys And The Pirates Of Neverland
All children, except one, grow up (Barrie 69). Right at the start of Peter and Wendy, J.M. Barrie points
out that childhood always comes to an end, that is for most people. Barrie uses characters Wendy, a
very mature and mother like figure for an adolescent girl, and Peter, a lively and stereotypical
childlike boy, as foils to each other. Wendy, at the age of two, realizes her childhood will come to an
end, but Peter never faces that reality. Mr. and Mrs. Darling and the pirates of Neverland are the
depicted adults throughout Peter and Wendy. The Lost Boys and Peter exhibit what happens when a

However, once Wendy does kiss Peter, Peter suggests she follows him to Neverland, because the lost
boys are rather lonely and have no female companion (Barrie 95). The relationship between these two
characters represents the need of men and women in each other s lives. The novel s climax begins
when Wendy, a preteen girl, is taken into Neverland to become a mother to the Lost Boys. Following
gender stereotypes, when Wendy is introduced to Peter, she fixes his lost shadow, by sewing it back
for him. At first, Peter attempts to take credit for Wendy s work, but he realizes that has upset Wendy.
Then Peter responds to her kindness by saying, Wendy, one girl is more use than twenty boys (Barrie
91). This statement by Peter is very surprising to both Wendy and the reader. According to stereotypes,
especially during the early 20th century, women typically need men, but in this situation, Peter admits
the need of women to men, especially young boys. This is due to the fact that none of the Lost Boys
have a family, especially a mother, to look out for them. Peter admits that the Lost Boys are in need of
parental guidance, and Wendy then follows Peter back to Neverland to become the boys mother,
something all children evidently need. It becomes very clear that the Lost Boys need a parental figure,
whether it be Wendy or someone else. Even before Wendy arrives, the evil pirates attempt to set a trap

Honey Bees Importance
Why Bees are important to humanity
Unknowingly, an insect as a bee can have catastrophic harm to our lives. Bees may seem very
dangerous but they are the species that has dramatic effects to our supplies and business. Bees are very
essential to our everyday lives because without bees our food necessities, health essentials, and
economy decrease. Honey bees should be protected because without them we would lose a vital
source of food and medicinal treatments, and nature like basic flowers and plants will eventually rot
and die. For example, fertilization is a high incentive for the utilization of honey bees since they are
responsible for pollinating nearly 85% of all food crops for humans , ( The Benefits of Bees. )
additionally different products which are utilized to nourish cattle. The nonattendance of the bumble

run out of food products and families will start to decrease in food supplies.
Nature needs honey bees on the grounds that without them many plants would have no real way to
reproduce and die out. (The Benefits of Bees. ) Bees are extremely critical in the way of life of most
plant and blooms. There are many types of far off honey bees who have developed to fertilize one sort
of plant, and coexisting in unison with the lifespan of that plant. (The Benefits of Bees. ) Without the

Cash Flow Statement
Cash Flow Statement:
A cash flow statement is a financial report with information on the sources of a firm s cash and how it
was spent within a given period of time. In contrast to other financial reports, a cash flow statement
does not present information on non cash items like depreciation. As a result, the cash flow statement
is beneficial in analyzing the temporary feasibility of a company, especially its capability to pay bills.
Many analysts recommend entrepreneurs to study a cash flow statement quarterly because of its
importance for small and large businesses.
Since a cash flow statement classifies cash receipts and payments based on operations, investments,
and financing activities, it s categorized into these three functional sections within the business.
Therefore, the major parts of the cash flow statement are cash related operations, investments,
financing, and net increase or decrease in cash. While cash from operations is cash generated from a
firm s daily operations, the investing cash is generated from assets investments. On the other hand,
financing cash is paid or received from the issued or borrowed funds whereas net increase or decrease
in cash is from annual rise or reduction in cash. It s important to note that regardless of the slight
differences in cash flow statements, they all present financial information in all the four categories (
Cash Flow Statement , n.d.).
One of the major advantages of a cash flow statement is that it provides

Newton s First Law
1) Newton s First Law is: Every object in a state of uniform motion tends to remain in that state of
motion unless an external force is applied to it. A real world example of this is that a soccer ball does
not move until it is kicked. Newton s Second Law is that the relationship between an object s mass m,
its acceleration a, and the applied force F is F = ma. Acceleration and force are vectors; in this law the
direction of the force vector is the same as the direction of the acceleration vector. This applies to the
design of a bullet. A bullet has low mass with high acceleration behind it, leading to high force on
impact. Newton s Third Law is that for every action there is an equal and opposite reaction. This law
can be understood as when an individual presses against a wall that they do not fall through the wall as
the wall pushes back against your action.
2) A 10 kg bowling ball is slowing down at a constant rate. In two seconds, its velocity drops from 5
m/s to 4.8 m/s. What is the total force acting on the ball, in N?
Variables: m = mass = 10 kg Vo = initial velocity = 5 m/s V = final velocity = 4.8 m/s t = time of
observation = 2 s a = acceleration = ? m/s2 F = force acting = ? N
Relationships:
a = (V Vo)/t F = ma
Computations:
3) The weight G of an object is BY DEFINITION
G = m*g where g is the acceleration of gravity

  • 2. Brutus Funeral Speech Analysis According to picturequotes.com, Words are powerful. They can create or they can destroy. So choose your words wisely. In Julius Caesar, by William Shakespeare, conspirators slay Julius Caesar, resulting in anarchy in Rome. Some agree with the death, while others oppose the sudden and violent death of Caesar. Unlike Antony, Brutus uses emotion rather than fact to sway the Roman people that Caesars death is justified. Although Brutus puts rules in place so he can not talk disrespectfully of the conspiracy, Antony, Caesar s closest friend, uses his slyness and manipulation in his funeral speech to persuade the Romans. Although both characters use analogies, parallelism, loaded words and hyperboles, their speeches convey very different ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... By making the Romans think about this topic, Brutus gains support and the audience feels like the death of Caesar is justified. After Brutus finishes his speech, Antony speaks about his opinion on the issue; unlike Brutus, Antony acts slyly and communicates a very manipulative tone to persuade the Romans to rebel. Because of Antony s use of parallelism, he creates vivid reasoning for his speech. He states, I come here to bury Caesar, not to praise him (III.ii.44). By using this device, he shows the people of Rome that he isn t praising Caesar, he is putting the leader to rest. This particular line creates a very manipulative tone, because his speech is all about what great this Caesar has done and how he wants to rebel against the conspirators. Further more, Antony uses a lot of irony to slyly get his point across. One example that he uses throughout the speech is Yet Brutus says he was ambitious, and Brutus is a honorable man (III.ii.44). Because of the repitition of this ironic statement, the meaning of it changes and intensifies. At first, his tone was sincere, but as the speech progresses, you can see his sarcastic tone increases. Antony does this because he has to use this device to surpass the regulations of Brutus, as well as make the romans listen. Lastly, he uses personification to give life and further meaning to a word. Early in the speech, Antony says, The evil ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

This is Dylan, Joey, Magdalena, and I am Belle. Malé is the capital of an island chain off the coast of India. The island chain includes over 1,200 atolls in the chain. Dylan: The Maldives are a key tourist destination due to the beautiful coral that lines the sea floor. There is an incredible amount of biodiversity here. Animals ranging from bats to parrotfish populate these tiny islands and the waters that surround it and they help keep the ecosystem stable. Magdalena: Their biggest problem is that the sea level is rising, and it is threatening to devour the island itself. Many problems are related to the rising tourism business and is releasing soap and other chemicals into the ocean, raising the acidity level in the ocean. Although bleaching has occurred coral reefs are great for tourism, and the Maldives have some of the best coral reefs in the world. Currently the reefs are slowly recovering. Dylan: Over 100,000 people are crammed into an area of less than 6 square kilometers (2.24 miles) leading to overpopulation. Human Factors Influencing Polices In The Workplace Human factors influence polices in the BYOD practice in the workplace because for the most part employees are comfortable and prefer using their own devices compared to company issued devices as they can often multitask between personal and business access. • 5. The Importance Of Sin And Evil In Hawthorne s Young... In the short story, Young Goodman Brown written by Nathaniel Hawthorne uses some of the puritan activities towards Goodman s dream, such as secrecy of sin and evil. The story introduces, a young and innocent man, Goodman Brown bid farewell to his wife but his wife did not want him to leave, so he left just for the day. He begins his walk into a dreary road, darkened by all the gloomiest trees of the forest (Hawthorne 1300) and was approached by a man also known as the devil. Throughout the trip, Goodman Brown tried to resist him but the man reminded him that his father and grandfather walked through the same path. Also, they believed God knew everything you did and he will make his decision to select you to be in heaven or hell. However, the puritans were not sure if they were saved or not. Therefore, the puritans were continually looking at their lives, especially their thoughts, actions, and preference to make sure to see they were living faithfully. In order for the puritans to know if they were living faithfully, they were given signs or dreams, similar to Goodman and his dream. Whether it was a reality check or dream, Goodman s dream places him to question him about his faith and salvation. Also, it was a sign from God that Goodman was straying from his path of God s salvation. Hawthorne s portrays Goodman s dream as a punishment from God similar to the puritan s punishment which were failure to follow through and obey the laws causes not to receive blessings upon the family, or yourself, and etc. Hawthorne mentions, My Faith is gone! There is no good on earth; and sin is but a name. Come devil; for to thee is this world given (Hawthrone 1304) which indicates Goodman s loss of faith was a form of punishment from God. Every now and then, the puritans did not believe that they could be saved by how they lived or indicate whether they might be saved, so they started to lose their faith. Few years later, Generations of the puritans lost attachment of their beliefs that they were born into. However, the infamous Salem Witch trials began in the spring ... • 6. Gender Stereotypes In Video Games Introduction As per the findings of the general social survey, administered by Statistics Canada (2010), video game usage has more than doubled in the last 20 years. Most researchers seem to agree that the stereotypical video game player is a young, white, heterosexual male (e.g. Shaw, 2012; Williams, Consalvo, Caplan, Yee, 2009). In considering the topic of gender and gaming, one of the first questions to consider is whether or not this stereotypical view of video game players is accurate. The Entertainment Software Association (ESA) publishes a report containing statistics on video game player demographics each year. In comparing these reports over time, an interesting trend is noted; though males account for the majority of video game ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... (p.423). • 7. How Do You Think the Asian Passenger Air Transport... The Asian passenger air transport marketplace will stable and growing rapidly. The latest Airbus Global Market Forecast (GMF), released in December 2010, shows that key drivers for the marketplace are the replacement of aircraft for newer more eco efficient models in mature markets, dynamic growth in new emerging markets, the further growth of low cost carriers particularly in Asia Pacific and Europe, further market liberalisation and capacity growth on existing routes. In 2010, views on whether low fare airlines would continue to flourish in Asia varied. Three factors regulation, population demographics, and socioeconomic trends drove this calculus. Although the target consumer base for AirAsia was enormous more than 500 million ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Surcharges and baggage fees covered some of this but the airline was conscious that if it loaded on the full charge, it might find no demand on some flights due to a high base price (e.g. minimum or zero fare plus taxes, fees and surcharges). To offset this eventuality, AirAsia did a lot to improve operations and efficiency and also saw the benefits of the fuel efficient Airbus 320 help to maintain its low fares brand position. To retain its cost advantage in the wake of the global recession, AirAsia entered into an alliance in January 2010 with Jetstar, the low fare subsidiary of Australia s flag carrier, Qantas. This was the first time two leading budget airlines had collaborated in this fashion. The alliance allowed the companies to explore joint aircraft purchasing, passenger and ground handling services cooperation and the transportation of each other s passengers in the event of a disruption. Assuming the focus of the alliance was on cost sharing for services and aircraft procurement, it might prove effective. AirAsia had played the game very well and had ambitious growth plans to keep ahead of the pack. Time would tell if Fernandes and his team could maintain the company s position as Asia s or perhaps the globe s most successful budget airline. But what were the business implications for AirAsia if oil prices remained above $100 a barrel for the foreseeable future? Little possibility. Between slim and none The pattern in other regions ... Who am I? is question that many often struggle to answer, but for me it allows me to differentiate from my constituents and express who I really am. What makes me such a unique individual is my ability to identify with 5 strong strengths. I love the fact that I am futuristic and I have the ability to relate, I am responsible, I am a developer and last but not least I am disciplined. Whenever I set a goal, I first ask myself is the goal realistic and reachable and secondly if I am willing to make changes in my life to reach those goals. While I have several goals there are a few that are imperative to reach. One of them being a counseling center for underprivileged girls ages K 12. As a victim and an advocate for bullying I want to highlight the situation and teach the girls how to detect signs and how to deal with a bully. I had my parents to help me but my goal is to target those that don t necessarily receive that attention at home. • 9. The Bombing of Hiroshima Essay The Bombing of Hiroshima On August 6, 1945, a B 29 bomber named Enola Gay dropped an atomic bomb, little boy on Hiroshima, Japan. Hiroshima had been almost eradicated with an estimated 70 80,000 people killed. Three days later, a second, more powerful bomb was dropped on the Japanese city of Nagasaki, killing over 100,000 people. Since Japan was economically and militarily devastated by the late summer of 1945, the use of the atomic bombs on an already overcome Japan was unnecessary and unwarranted in bringing about a conclusion to the war in the Pacific. By the end of the war, the U.S. forces had pushed the Japanese far back into their country, leaving them no access to any resources from the Indies. Japanese cities and ... One could wonder if the motive behind this second attack was similar to the first; the only difference being that the bomb to be tested this time was considerably more powerful. The final say on whether or not to drop the bomb came from President Harry Truman, who had help from a special committee known as the Interim Committee. This organization was made up of Secretary Stimson as chairman; President Truman s personal representative, James F. Byrnes; the Under Secretary of the Navy, William L. Clayton; and the Assistant Secretary of State as well as many others. The work of the Interim Committee was to discuss the uses of the bomb and whether or not it would be wise to use nuclear force against Japan in combat. On July 1, 1945, the committee submitted a report to President Truman stating that: 1. The bomb should be used against Japan as soon as possible. 2. It should be used against a military target surrounded by other buildings. 3. It should be used without prior warning of the nature of the weapon. The Interim Committee decided against warning the Japanese about the atomic bomb because they claimed that they weren t sure if it would detonate. Advantages Of Living In A Small Town Living In A Small Town Has Unique Challenges From an outsider s perspective, living in a small town such as Agassiz seems like a pleasant and relaxing place to live; you get to know everyone, everything you need is within walking distance from your house, and it s relatively safer than the city. However, as someone who has lived in the town of Agassiz her whole life, I have learned from firsthand experiences that small towns aren t as peaceful as they seem. For example, the town has become too close knit. This is due to the low population of students within the schools, mixed with the fact that a majority families have been here for several generations. As a result, cliques develop; causing drama and spreading gossip. Consequently, there just isn t any privacy in Agassiz. Moreover, the few businesses that Agassiz has are basically all the same; overpriced convenience stores that never have what you need, and an alarming number of pizza places for such a restricted space. An easy solution for the issues that Agassiz suffers from is something that is already being implemented; expand the population by adding more housing and unique businesses. There are three schools in Agassiz; two elementary schools and a high school. As someone who attended these schools, I noticed quickly that if your parents weren t close to the other parents and the principal, it was hard to make friends or have your opinions catered to. This was most prominent in the high school, where great deals of the students families are close to the principal. As a result of this, they are often given a special treatment, meaning they get away with being bullies. I experienced several times where a group of these kids bullied people until they switched to another school, because the principal refused to help them out in any way. More personally, the principal wouldn t let me switch out of a class to another class that I needed to take to get into my preferred university program, which has made the transition into university even more stressful. Additionally, the school has an extremely low population only 300 kids the year that I graduated that you get to know everybody, which isn t ideal; I often heard way too much about other people s personal ... Civil Society And Its Prospects For A Democratic Transition Civil Society in Cuba and Its Prospects for a Democratic Transition 4/23/12 Although evidence has shown that civil society is developing in Cuba, the country will probably not undergo a democratic transition in the near future. Civil society is still repressed by the government, independent media is mostly silenced, and many of Cuba s citizens appear understandably apathetic. Cuba will only transition to democracy, develop a democratic political culture, and consolidate its democracy only when civil society develops to a position of organization, strength, and mass support. This essay seeks to analyze the major impediments in Cuba s prospects for democracy. Political History Cuba was one of the last Latin American nations to gain independence. The island won its independence from Spain in 1898, but was taken over by the United States after its victory in the Spanish American War. In 1902, Cuba won its independence from the United States. In 1940, Batista was elected president but was voted out of office in 1944. From 1944 until 1952, the country was ruled by civilian presidents who had the support of political parties. In 1952, Batista orchestrated a coup after being out of office for eight years and presided over a seven year military dictatorship. Batista s anti communism won him the support of the United States, but his administration was extremely corrupt and his closeness with the United States angered many Cubans. The use of heparin or a LMWH when initiating warfarin therapy has been justified by a theoretical possibility of a transient hypercoaguable state from the warfarin use. Many physicians believe that the only safe and effective way to start a patient on warfarin is with the use of one of these heparins, however, the hypercoaguable state is just a theoretical possibility. Therefore, along with the time, there have been many changes in the history of Chinese cuisine. Dim Sum is related with the term yum cha , which means to drink tea . This is started at around hundreds years ago, in Canton (Guangdong Province), when the travellers on the ancient Silk Road took some rest in the middle of their journey, and they usually had some tea and meals. Unlike the American political system, which has the same political system as it did when the country was created, the Japanese political system is a more recent construct that was created as a result of millennia of imperial rule that slowly morphed into the constitutional monarchy that it is today. Throughout this process of shifting their political structure there has been heavy influence from the west, especially America and England to create a more democratic way of governing their nation. Although the Japanese government is similar to the US government, the imperial roots create a different governmental structure that creates different displays of power. It is said in The Nihon Shoki, one of the oldest books of Japanese history, that Japan was founded by Emperor Jimmu in 660 BC. The Japanese Emperor was the sovereign ruler of the country until the Emperor s rule began to end in the mid 12th century. The Japanese government shifted from imperial rule to shogunate rule after the Genpei War of 1180 1185. Shoguns were Japanese military rulers who would be appointed by the Emperor, but would hold all the power. It was around this time as well that the Japanese began to mingle with Europeans and begin to trade with the Portuguese and the Dutch. This spiked the economy because of Japan s abundance of precious metals and began to peak the Japanese s interest in western culture. Vaccination For Children And Immune Compromised Adults Vaccines are made up of a weakened version of the bacteria or virus, or dead forms of the organism, or in other cases, an inactivated toxin that is produced by the bacteria. Upon the introduction of vaccine into the body, the immune system is manipulated into thinking that the body is under attack and produces specific antibodies as a defense mechanism. These antibodies stay in the bloodstream, protecting the body against actual infections for months, years or even a lifetime. Why are vaccines important, especially for children and immune compromised adults? Vaccination protects from serious illness and complications caused by vaccine preventable diseases. Despite many efforts and medical advances, infectious diseases like measles, mumps, and whooping cough are still a threat and often there are no cures available for these diseases. Smallpox has been eradicated due to a vaccine and many expect that other terrible infectious diseases will be eliminated in the near future. • 30. Columbine Shootings Since Columbine, in which two students carried out one of the most deadly school shootings in history. Video games, TV, and movies have been a sought after target for acts of violence. After the Columbine shooting, the media thrust the idea that Eric Harris and Dylan Klebold s tendency for violent video games, not to mention screamo music and somewhat goth subculture, were partly to blame for the terrible day in history. Approximately 90 percent of kids in the U.S. play video games, and more than 90 percent of those games involve mature content that includes violence. (Time Health). The link between violent media and aggression in video games has also created a spawn of research studies that has gone back and forth on the issue of whether ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 31. Drug Seizures In Canada Case Study Bouchard et al. (2011) assert that there are no assessments regarding the amount of ATS being produced and the amount of ATS lab seizures stays low. Estimates for ATS use and seizure data suggest that there is an annual surplus of between 1733 kg and 8624 kg of ATS available to be exported from Canada (Bouchard et al., 2011). Bouchard et al. (2011) contend that this indicates that somewhere between 38% and 75% of ATS produced in Canada is exported. Organized crime groups have greatly increased synthetic drug export to foreign countries, such as the United States, Japan, Korea, and Southeast Asia, by transforming legally acquired substances from pharmacies (Morselli et al., 2016). National Intelligence Analysis, Criminal Intelligence, and the Royal Canadian Mounted Police (2007) maintain that from 2004, the amount of MDMA (ecstasy) shipments and the quantity of ecstasy seized started to decrease to the point that shipments were essentially eliminated by 2006. In 2006, Canada took the Netherlands and Belgium s place as the predominant source of ecstasy supply both domestically and in the United States illicit drug market (NIA et al., 2007). A more recent report by the RCMP indicates that the situation with respect to synthesis, distribution and export of ecstasy is rapidly escalating (NIA et al., 2010). National Intelligence Analysis et al. (2010) argue that land transport is the main method of smuggling MDMA through the Canada US border as rail and air methods of shipment are not as common. Canada would export MDMA to nations in the Asia Pacific region, and MDMA seizures in Mexico and Jamaica indicated that criminal organizations in Canada were further expanding their international operations (NIA et al., 2010). Although there is a stable market for MDMA in Canada, it is being over produced, and that excess of MDMA is being used for a lucrative export (Hudson et al., 2014). This is confirmed by a United Nations Office on Drugs and Crime report, which contends that the predominant source of ecstasy in North America is criminal organizations in Canada (Hudson et al., 2014). • 32. The Lost Boys And The Pirates Of Neverland All children, except one, grow up (Barrie 69). Right at the start of Peter and Wendy, J.M. Barrie points out that childhood always comes to an end, that is for most people. Barrie uses characters Wendy, a very mature and mother like figure for an adolescent girl, and Peter, a lively and stereotypical childlike boy, as foils to each other. Wendy, at the age of two, realizes her childhood will come to an end, but Peter never faces that reality. Mr. and Mrs. Darling and the pirates of Neverland are the depicted adults throughout Peter and Wendy. The Lost Boys and Peter exhibit what happens when a child lives without an adult. Although the children survive on their own, they still feel the need to bring Wendy to Neverland to become their ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... However, once Wendy does kiss Peter, Peter suggests she follows him to Neverland, because the lost boys are rather lonely and have no female companion (Barrie 95). The relationship between these two characters represents the need of men and women in each other s lives. The novel s climax begins when Wendy, a preteen girl, is taken into Neverland to become a mother to the Lost Boys. Following gender stereotypes, when Wendy is introduced to Peter, she fixes his lost shadow, by sewing it back for him. At first, Peter attempts to take credit for Wendy s work, but he realizes that has upset Wendy. Then Peter responds to her kindness by saying, Wendy, one girl is more use than twenty boys (Barrie 91). This statement by Peter is very surprising to both Wendy and the reader. According to stereotypes, especially during the early 20th century, women typically need men, but in this situation, Peter admits the need of women to men, especially young boys. This is due to the fact that none of the Lost Boys have a family, especially a mother, to look out for them. Peter admits that the Lost Boys are in need of parental guidance, and Wendy then follows Peter back to Neverland to become the boys mother, something all children evidently need. It becomes very clear that the Lost Boys need a parental figure, whether it be Wendy or someone else. Even before Wendy arrives, the evil pirates attempt to set a trap on ... It was a surprise not to see a trail of blood behind both girls by the daggers each was throwing at the other with their eyes. The Chief Steward looked sternly at both girls and they stop their silent bickering and straighten up. Ladies and gentlemen, I give you young miss Tenia Fontanels and young Miss Paisley Wakens. Mr. Rioult occasionally lost the shape of the movement. He imitates rather than executes Graham technique, but he made Jason s humiliation of Medea dramatic nonetheless. Miss Orihara, whose work in the ensemble is always outstanding, pulled out all the stops magnificently in her frenzied fit after Medea gave her a poisoned crown. Miss Jimenez needs to emphasize the distortion of the choreography, but her accent on sorrow in the role of the chorus was moving and apt. Miss Sherman s Medea is a brilliant surface realization at this point. Her body was all zigzag and angles, hip and shoulder raised, head cocked to one side. Bees may seem very dangerous but they are the species that has dramatic effects to our supplies and business. Bees are very essential to our everyday lives because without bees our food necessities, health essentials, and economy decrease. Honey bees should be protected because without them we would lose a vital source of food and medicinal treatments, and nature like basic flowers and plants will eventually rot and die. • 37. Cash Flow Statement Cash Flow Statement: A cash flow statement is a financial report with information on the sources of a firm s cash and how it was spent within a given period of time. In contrast to other financial reports, a cash flow statement does not present information on non cash items like depreciation. As a result, the cash flow statement is beneficial in analyzing the temporary feasibility of a company, especially its capability to pay bills. Many analysts recommend entrepreneurs to study a cash flow statement quarterly because of its importance for small and large businesses. Since a cash flow statement classifies cash receipts and payments based on operations, investments, and financing activities, it s categorized into these three functional sections within the business. Therefore, the major parts of the cash flow statement are cash related operations, investments, financing, and net increase or decrease in cash. While cash from operations is cash generated from a firm s daily operations, the investing cash is generated from assets investments. On the other hand, financing cash is paid or received from the issued or borrowed funds whereas net increase or decrease in cash is from annual rise or reduction in cash. It s important to note that regardless of the slight differences in cash flow statements, they all present financial information in all the four categories ( Cash Flow Statement , n.d.). • 38. Newton s First Law 1) Newton s First Law is: Every object in a state of uniform motion tends to remain in that state of motion unless an external force is applied to it. A real world example of this is that a soccer ball does not move until it is kicked. Newton s Second Law is that the relationship between an object s mass m, its acceleration a, and the applied force F is F = ma. Acceleration and force are vectors; in this law the direction of the force vector is the same as the direction of the acceleration vector. This applies to the design of a bullet. A bullet has low mass with high acceleration behind it, leading to high force on impact. Newton s Third Law is that for every action there is an equal and opposite reaction. This law can be understood as when an individual presses against a wall that they do not fall through the wall as the wall pushes back against your action. 2) A 10 kg bowling ball is slowing down at a constant rate. In two seconds, its velocity drops from 5 m/s to 4.8 m/s. What is the total force acting on the ball, in N? Variables: m = mass = 10 kg Vo = initial velocity = 5 m/s V = final velocity = 4.8 m/s t = time of observation = 2 s a = acceleration = ? m/s2 F = force acting = ?
