3. These are the photographs I used to create the image for the digipak.
To do it I used Photoshop to cut around the hands in the image below and the band posing in the image to the left.
I had the idea of creating the illusion of the band balancing on the hand. This I wanted to do because it is
conventional in the Indie-Pop genre for there to be unusual and surreal places; this is what I wanted to create.
After I had cut out the hands and the band I then layered them over each other and moved them around a bit to
make it look all jumbled up and most effective.
I also made the colours bolder by heightening the contrast as this added to the unnatural and illusion look I
wanted to create.
4. This is the back cover of my digipak. This also involved using Photoshop to
cut around the image. I then layered the picture over cropped parts of the
picture in which one had been flipped. I thought this gave a cool illusion-
like effect and the layout allowed a good place to put the writing of the
song names over the top. I also did some colour manipulation to make it
brighter and more eye catching.
5. These are the images I used for the top right panel of my digipak. The only thing I did for these was change the colour. For
the photos I wanted to emphasise the colour of that particular person/band member. The thing I found difficult with this
was trying to get the amount of contrast and shadow to match with the other photos while getting the colour I wanted. The
most difficult was yellow as at first it was difficult to get the colour, and then I did it but I thought it was much too bright so I
changed it a bit, so I made it a bit darker and this is the result. This panel shows each band member and their individual
personalities which I think it conventional for bands.
6. This is the image I used for the top left
of the digipak. I wanted to do this image
because I wanted to develop from the
front album cover. I first tried just
zooming in and getting closer to the
other picture I manipulated but this
would distort and lessen the quality of
the image. So instead I got the images
separately that I had already cut and
coloured and resized them and then re-
layered them. I liked this because it
allowed links within the digipak. I also
like that you can see the band in this
position more clearly standing on the
hand, as I think it’s an interesting shot.
7. This is the image I used for the magazine advert. The reason I used this image is because I though it clearly showed the band
members, also I thought the position was good and symmetrical so would work effectively on a advert. I also liked that you
could see all the colours and there is the added confetti behind their heads and I think this would hint to someone of the
type of band it is and it fits with the persona we have tried to create for the band which is wacky and strange and a bit all
over the place.
For this image all I did was crop it
when adding it to the advert to make
the faces more central and I also did
some colour manipulation, to make
the image nicer to look at.
