 Aims or goals: 
During this lesson, learners will be able to…
 Identify and name different times.
 Incorporate and practise their previous knowledge of numbers.
 Develop their writing skills by completing different activities.
 Teaching points: - language focus:
 Teaching approach: This lesson plan is based on the PPP approach.
 Materials and resources: One big clock. A copy of Activity 1 for each of
them. A copy for group of Activity 2, and a copy for each of them of Closure
stage.
 Pedagogical use of ICT in class: In this lesson, one big clock will be used
to support the presentation and exposure of the students to the teaching point.
Activities organised through visual material enhance language learning and
acquisition.
 Seating arrangement: Students will be sitting on their desks since I
believe it´s the best way to see and participate of the class. Also, they will have
visual contact and interaction.
 Cooperative work: learners of this age can interact and work together in
order to perform activities.
 Possible problems / difficulties and their possible solutions during
the class: Children may get too excited during the class because they are very
participative students and sometimes they overflow. In that case, I’ll remind
them we should be careful with the resources used and be able to perform all
the activities. In order to get them quiet: I´ll say Silence, please!
 Potential problems students may have with the language: They may
not understand the question: What time is it? I’ll guide them by pointing the
different time on the clock and modeling the answer first.

WARM UP (5 minutes)
Purpose: to introduce the topic and evaluate students´ understanding.
- Good afternoon! How are you today? We will start, today is August 17th. OK, look
here please. What is this?
I will show students the following clock. Then, while I put different times by changing
the clock´s hands, I will say some examples aloud.
-Now, it is a quarter to two. (I will show
the time with the clock).
- It´s eight o´clock.
- What time is it? It´s half past four.
- What time is it? It´s a quarter past
nine.
PRESENTATION (10 minutes)
Purpose: to further expose the learners to the target language, to foster
comprehension.
Then, I will write on the board the different parts to tell the time.
02.15: It´s a quarter past two.
06.30: It´s half past six.
09.45: It´s a quarter to two.

Activity 1 (10 minutes)
Purpose: to students identify the topic vocabulary.
- Are you ready to practise the time? Complete each clock.
I will give students a copy for each of clocks in order to they complete with the time.

TRANSITION: Excellent work kids! Now we will play a game.
Activity 2 (10 minutes)
Purpose: to students identify and practice the topic vocabulary.
Listen kids, you will work in groups of three or four.
Now that you are ready, you have a game of clock, a dice, four / three chips of different
colors and a spreadsheet. The slogan is as follows: one of you is going to throw the dice,
grab a chip and place iton the board on the number that touched to you, and then you
should write down on the sheet the time that is presented in the board. After that, it will
be the turn of a partner, who will do the same, n the first to complete the board will win.

TRANSITION: Nice work, it was funny, was not it? Now, you will do the last
activity.
CLOSURE (5 minutes)
Purpose: to secure the knowledge acquired.
- I will give you some clocks, these clocks show us the time but they lack of hands, so
you have to draw them OK?
- If you do not finish the activity please try to make it at home. If not we will finish next
class.

  • 2.  Teaching points: - language focus:  Teaching approach: This lesson plan is based on the PPP approach.  Materials and resources: One big clock. A copy of Activity 1 for each of them. A copy for group of Activity 2, and a copy for each of them of Closure stage.  Pedagogical use of ICT in class: In this lesson, one big clock will be used to support the presentation and exposure of the students to the teaching point. Activities organised through visual material enhance language learning and acquisition.  Seating arrangement: Students will be sitting on their desks since I believe it´s the best way to see and participate of the class. Also, they will have visual contact and interaction.  Cooperative work: learners of this age can interact and work together in order to perform activities.  Possible problems / difficulties and their possible solutions during the class: Children may get too excited during the class because they are very participative students and sometimes they overflow. In that case, I’ll remind them we should be careful with the resources used and be able to perform all the activities. In order to get them quiet: I´ll say Silence, please!  Potential problems students may have with the language: They may not understand the question: What time is it? I’ll guide them by pointing the different time on the clock and modeling the answer first.   • 3. WARM UP (5 minutes) Purpose: to introduce the topic and evaluate students´ understanding. - Good afternoon! How are you today? We will start, today is August 17th. OK, look here please. What is this? I will show students the following clock. Then, while I put different times by changing the clock´s hands, I will say some examples aloud. -Now, it is a quarter to two. (I will show the time with the clock). - It´s eight o´clock. - What time is it? It´s half past four. - What time is it? It´s a quarter past nine.

Activity 2 (10 minutes) Purpose: to students identify and practice the topic vocabulary. Listen kids, you will work in groups of three or four. Now that you are ready, you have a game of clock, a dice, four / three chips of different colors and a spreadsheet. The slogan is as follows: one of you is going to throw the dice, grab a chip and place iton the board on the number that touched to you, and then you should write down on the sheet the time that is presented in the board. After that, it will be the turn of a partner, who will do the same, n the first to complete the board will win. Do you understand?
