2. movie “While you were sleeping”
Pedagogical use of ICT in class: They were advised to install in their
cellphones an English dictionary. Off Line dictionary. Classroom
Seating arrangement: Students are sitting in groups. They also will work
in pairs.
Cooperative work: This class works very well in cooperative tasks
therefore it is easy to give them activities to debate in groups and make
conclusions.
Possible problems/ difficulties and their possible solutions during the
class: I think it may be difficult for them to get used to a new teacher at this
moment of the year. They also have to learn how to work with a new tool
such as the Classroom app. Oral activities might be difficult for them
because despite of having a good quantity of English time at school they
don´t practice pronunciation too often.
Potential problems students may have with the language: They might
not understand the instructions in the target language and the new
vocabulary therefore I´ll repeat the instructions as many times as necessary
and mime all they can understand using signals. Particularly, reported
statements require the ability of thinking backwards to get the idea of who
said the statement. I will explain as much as necessary the concept of a past
in the past for them to catch the idea of reported statements. I will also
show them how words are pronounced in oral tasks.
ROUTINE (5’ minutes)
Purpose: to set the mood for the lesson and to get ready to start to work.
I will greet the students and I will ask them “how are you?” Next I will ask them
what the date is; I will clean the board and write the date on it.
Transition: Very well, as you have finished writing the date let´s start the lesson.
Today you are going to continue working with unit 9 Celebrations and reported
statements.
WARM- UP (around 10 minutes):
Purpose: to activate students` prior knowledge of weddings and celebrations, such as
describing events, places or clothes related to those celebrations. Also, to get the
students engaged with the topic of the lesson.
T: Well kids for example if I say:
- “It is a special dress, with a long tail and in most of the cases it is white”
What am I talking about? Wedding dress
- “Youngers use to go with that special car to their prom” what kind of car
is it? Limo
- “In general there is a priest, family and friends of the deceased person
and they are all very sad” What kind of even is it? Funeral
Transition: Well excellent!. Let´s continue!
