During this lesson, learners will be able to
- Express they mood
- Identify and name different family members
- Develop their listening skills by listen to the teacher and a song
- Improve their knowledge of commands such as “listening, be quiet, stop, start,
repeat” at the beginning, during and at the end of the class.
- Develop social skills by working with their class mates in groups
- Develop linguistic skills singing and answering questions.

 Teaching Approach: The lesson is based on the Communicative approach
organized through the PPP procedure
 Materials and resources: video, song, pictures, posters, glue, pencils
 Pedagogical use of ICT in class: For this lesson I will use the TV to watch and
listen to the song.
 Seating arrangement: Students will be seated at their tables in groups of four
or five
 Cooperative work: Cooperative work is a challenge aim at this stage because
children of this age are not used to listen to and accept others opinions, it is an
everyday work.
 Possible problems/ difficulties and their possible solutions during the
class: The family issue can be a bit controversial if we do not work with it
with an open mind. The nowadays families are very different from the book
family therefore I believe it is important to be sensitive with this issue and
teach students that their kind of family is a “normal” family, no matter if their
parents are divorced or if they live with their grandparents or whatever their
family situation might be, they are still a family.
 Potential problems students may have with the language: They might not
understand the vocabulary or the relationship between the family ‘members
therefore I will try to explain these relationships with examples and pictures.
ROUTINE:
Purpose:tobeginwiththe lessonandhelpstudentstorelax andfocusonEnglishlanguage in
orderto start working.

The Familyisnot an unknownissue to these studentsbecause theyalreadyhave the conceptof
the personswhobelongtoa group named“family”. Whatitis goingto be new for themisthe
writtennamesof those membersandthe relationshipsbetweenthem.
I am goingto start thislessonbytellingthe studentsthatwe are goingto workwith the “Family”.
As the word“family”isa cognate,studentswill probablyunderstandwhatthe lessonwill be
about.

parents,brothersandsisters.

for 5 years oldkidstounderstandthatthere are differentkindof familiesandthatthe fact of not

Thisis importantinorderto teachthemthat in real life there are a huge varietyof familieswhich
are differentfromthe ordinaryandtraditional “family”thatwe can findinthe textbooks. Iam
alsogoingto use a drawof a tree inorder to introduce the “FamilyTree”concept.

It is my……  Teaching Approach: The lesson is based on the Communicative approach organized through the PPP procedure  Materials and resources: video, song, pictures, posters, glue, pencils  Pedagogical use of ICT in class: For this lesson I will use the TV to watch and listen to the song.  Seating arrangement: Students will be seated at their tables in groups of four or five  Cooperative work: Cooperative work is a challenge aim at this stage because children of this age are not used to listen to and accept others opinions, it is an everyday work.  Possible problems/ difficulties and their possible solutions during the class: The family issue can be a bit controversial if we do not work with it with an open mind. The nowadays families are very different from the book family therefore I believe it is important to be sensitive with this issue and teach students that their kind of family is a “normal” family, no matter if their parents are divorced or if they live with their grandparents or whatever their family situation might be, they are still a family.  Potential problems students may have with the language: They might not understand the vocabulary or the relationship between the family ‘members therefore I will try to explain these relationships with examples and pictures. Thisis importantinorderto teachthemthat in real life there are a huge varietyof familieswhich are differentfromthe ordinaryandtraditional “family”thatwe can findinthe textbooks. Iam alsogoingto use a drawof a tree inorder to introduce the “FamilyTree”concept. T: All right children,this class we aregoing to talk aboutthe family.Well lookat this poster! There are differentkindsof families.There are families with onemomonly or with onedad only or with grandmomsorgranddads. MY FAMILY Childrenwillworkingroupsof fourand I will provide themwithsposterandsome picturesfor themto draw andcreate theirownfamilyversion. T: Ok children you haveon yourtables a posterand some pictures,now whatyou haveto do is to drawa big tree and pastethe picturesyou like the mostin orderto create a family picture. You can choosebetween onemotheror two mothers,onefatheror two fathers,grandparents, one,two or three brothersor noneetc. Itis a free activity.
