Teaching Approach: The lesson is based on the Communicative approach
organized through the PPP procedure
Materials and resources: Novel “Four weeding sans a funeral”, picture,
class´s book , clay, pencils
Pedagogical use of ICT in class: Students will start working with the
Cellphone application “Classroom” in order to start communicating us
throughout that means. They will add the use of an App named Word Cloud
and the recording program Audacity.
Seating arrangement: Students are seated in groups
Cooperative work: Cooperative work is always challenging but I believe at
this stage students will be used to work in groups, additionally they already
dispose of some vocabulary that makes easier to communicate each other.
Possible problems/ difficulties and their possible solutions during the
class: I think it may be difficult for them to get use to a new teacher at this
moment of the year. They also have to learn how to work with a new tool
such as the Classroom app.
Potential problems students may have with the language: They might
not understand the instructions in the target language and the new
vocabulary.
ROUTINE (5’ minutes)
Purpose: to set the mood for the lesson and to get ready to start to work.
I will greet the students and I will ask them “how are you?” Next I will ask them
about the date and I will write it on the board for them to copy it down.
Transition: Ok! Let´s start to work. Today we are going to talk about funerals.
WARM- UP (around 10 minutes): I will start the lesson by asking them what they
think about the activities they did last class.
T: Well kids! Tell me what do you think about the activity we did last class. Do you
remember them? Did you know that funerals are different around the world?
Transition: Well kids the novel you are reading is called “Four weddings and a
funeral” Now you are going to finish reading chapter 5.
PRESENTATION: (20 minutes):
Interaction patterns: teacher- student
Teaching strategy: Brainstorm (Application Word Cloud)
3. Skills: Speaking- writing- listening
Before starting to read they are going to hear a small audio from the movie “Four
Weddings and a funeral” The poem.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4MNijTHw4WI
In the previous lesson I asked them to install in their cellphones an application
called Word Cloud. This application allows them to write a series of words which
they might consider important.
T: Well class now open your Word Cloud App on your cellphones and listen to this
audio. In your phones you need to write the words you consider important while
watching the video
T: After watching the video save your Word Cloud in your cellphones.
PRACTICE (25 minutes):
Before reading: Think about poems. Poems are related to feelings and help
to get a better pronunciation between other things.
Practice this poem in relation to pronunciation.
T: Well kids before start you are going to read this poem. I recommend you to
read it twice, first in silence and then aloud. It will help you to lose, to relax
your tongue
*The Pronunciation Poem
Here is some pronunciation.
Ration never rhymes with nation,
Say prefer, but preferable,
Comfortable and vegetable.
B must not be heard in doubt,
Debt and dumb both leave it out.
In the words psychology,
Psychic, and psychiatry,
You must never sound the p.
Psychiatrist you call the man
Who cures the complex, if he can.

While reading: Now you are going to real chapter 5 from “Four weddings
and a funeral” by Cherry Gilchrist. The second Part of the chapter
T: Well kids now you are going to start reading the second part of chapter 5.
Some of you are going to read aloud. I will tell you which paragraph should
read each of you.
After reading: After reading the chapter students are going to use the
words from the word cloud to write a small text about the poem they heard.
4. T: Well kids now you have to write a small text, use these questions to help you
making it and the words from the word Cloud:
What was the poem about? How said the poem. How did he felt? What feelings
were involved?
Transition: Very well kids! You are starting to produce your own writings and that is
great. Now you are going one step further and write a more planned writing.
Remember that practice makes perfect. You need to do as many drafts as necessary
until you are satisfied with your writings.
PRODUCTION (10 minutes)
To end up this lesson I want you to imagine a different ending for this chapter. At
the end of the chapter there is a dialogue between Tom and Charles. Tom says to
Charles he was waiting for something. What is that he is waiting for? Imagine a
different ending. Write it down. Take notes and then tape yourselves telling me
how this chapter ends. You can use a program called Audacity to record
yourselves. No more than 2-3 minutes longer. Then upload it in the classroom.
Remember to add your name to the file.
Classroom tasks: (upload)
- Words from the poem (Word Cloud)
- Short audio about a different ending for chapter 5 (Audacity)
