2. Media institutions
There are many different publishing companies which could publish my magazine. There are
some which already publish magazines which are of the same genre as me (Bauer Media
publishing Kerrang, and IPC Media publishing NME). However, there are also some publishing
companies which do not currently have any magazines of my genre which they are publishing
so I would be a niche in their market.

3. I believe that having my magazine published through a company that publishes magazines of the
same genre and me who are recognisable but not too big will be best for my magazine. This is
because, they will have experience in my genre of magazine and be knowledgeable in how to get
my magazine out to the public. Where as, if I was a niche in their market, they would not have any
experience in publishing a magazine in this genre so it would be harder for them to make the most
out of publishing it.
They would also need to be relatively large company so that they are recognisable and trusted by
others which will put my magazine in a better place to get attention from the public. However, I
will not want the company to be too big as they will get many different offers from other
magazines everyday and it will be harder to get it published by them. Therefore, I will still go to one
of the larger publishing companies but not the biggest out there as this will put me in a better
position for it to be published.
Keeping all of this in mind, my choices for publisher are either Bauer Media or IPC Media. This is
because they are both well known publishing companies which people will recognise and who
have experience in my genre of magazine. They are also not too big so my magazine will not get
lost in all of the other magazines that they are publishing.
After looking into all of the different options for publishing my magazine, I have decided to have it
published with Bauer Media. This is because they have published many magazines in the same
genre as me so they will have a lot of experience with it. They are also not too big so it will be
much easier for me to have it published by them as opposed to bigger companies.
