What kind of media institution might distribute
your media product and why?

2. Media Institution
Media Institution are the companies that make the companies that
produce and distribute the magazine. Different institutions own
different magazines. For my magazine, I want to find a company that
produces a similar magazine to mine. This may mean that I have to find one
that has a wide range of genres and also has a similar style to mine which is very
modern. I may also have to find a smaller production company as my magazine
isn't very big and I want it to be quite independent and not battling very many other
magazines when it comes to production.

3. The Main Publishers: BAUER
As there are a lot of different magazines out there, there will always
be a lot of different publishers that represent different magazines. For
music magazines, ‘BAUER’ is the most well known. They represent
magazines such as Kerrang!, Q magazine and MOJO. All three magazine are
very well know within the music magazine industry. The magazines they
produce however, in my opinion, are not the magazines I would compare to mine.
It's for this reason that I have decided not to use this company for publishing my
magazine. They also seem like a rather big company who I
feel wont be fully committed to making my magazine along
with the others they are making.

4. The Main Publisher: WENNER
WENNER is another large media company within the magazine
industry. Their most well known magazine is ‘Rolling Stone’ magazine
based on popular culture. They also publish other magazines such as
‘UK weekly’ and ‘Men's Journal’ which both are not music magazines. This is
definitely not a company I will be getting to produce my magazine as they
don’t seem to have the right style or ethos that I am looking for when making my
magazine. Also, they don’t seem to be based around music magazines, only
producing one. I also see them being very large and like I
said on the previous slide, it seems like they may be a larger
company then I may want publishing my magazine.

5. The Main Publishers: IPC Media
IPC Media are a company which expand across many different
genres of magazine and print across many platforms like magazines,
online etc. They are the UKs leading consumer magazine publisher. They
publish the magazine NME which I see as very similar to my own magazine.
This company would be a good fit for my magazine as they are focused on
different types of magazines so they will have experience in making a magazine
work. Also, as the company is rather large, it wont be a problem to get the magazine
well known and sell it. Also, it will be available on many
different platforms which is something else I want.

6. Conclusion
In conclusion, I believe the best company to produce my music
magazine would be IPC Media. I think this because they already print a
similar magazine to mine already (NME). This means that they would like
to have my magazine as they must like NME already. Another reason is
because they print onto a lot of different media such as magazine form and
online. Also, they have a lot of experience in making magazines so they will know
how to set a magazine off and make it popular from the start. The only downside is
that because they have a lot of other magazines, it may be hard to keep the attention
on my magazine if it isn't doing as well as they might have thought. However, I can look
over this and say that I think I have made the right decision.
