Media Evaluation

2. The company that I would choose to distribute my magazine
publication would be Townsquare Media. The reason for this
choice is because they are know for publishing/distributing a
wide range of magazines. Town square media also bought
one of the largest music magazines last year, this was XXL
This is why I would choose Townsquare because they would
have masses of experience and knowledge on how to
distribute and publish my magazine. Although, Townsquare
may already have XXL magazine I feel that by them adding
my magazine ‘RE-LEASED’ to their portfolio they would be
able to increase the buyers of both my publication and XXL.
Townsquare is now the official
distributor
of XXL magazine and is now the
company
responsible for successfully
distributing
the magazine internationally.

3. This is because those who are into to Hip-Hop/ Rap
magazines tend to buy a variation of magazines due to
the heavy interest in the genre. For example, those into
automotive magazines may tend to buy two variations,
such as, Top gear and also Autocar the reason for this
is because the public prefer to have two variations on
stories and upcoming music stories/ news. The use of
using Townsquare media would be that my magazine
publication would successfully and efficiently be
distributed straight to the customers/audience.

4. This is because Townsquare Media have had huge
experience in distributed different variations of
magazines successfully. Although my magazine would
not be as huge as XXL I am certain that with the use of
Townsquare my publication would be able to gain a foot
in the magazine market and make a name for itself.
Alongside the other huge music magazine competitors
such as, XXL, The Source and Vibe magazine.

5. On the other hand, I could have chosen to use Bauer
Media Group and this is because they specialise also
in a variety of magazines and the publish ‘Q’ and
‘Kerrang’. This is why, i felt that i could use Bauer
Media Group because they do not currently publish a
Hip-Hop/Rap magazines however, they publish a
variation of magazines such as MCN (Motorcycle
News). Although I would be the only Hip-Hop
magazine being published by themselves, which
would help my advertisement. I felt that using a
distributor, Townsquare which currently publish XXL
would aid me because they have experience with
distributing a magazine of my genre.
Bauer Media group distributes
Kerrang which is I can see is
clearly different from my
publication which is why I
chose to use Town square.

6. I have chose to sell my magazine publication at
supermarkets such as Tesco, Sainsbury and Asda.
The reason for this is because, my targeted market
which is 15-24 tend to shop at these leading
supermarkets whether it be for a food or to buy other
magazines. Therefore, I feel I will be successfully
bringing my publication to the audience as they do
tend to shop and use the listed supermarkets. As a
result, I feel that I will not only be able to encourage
a repeat purchase but in fact impulsive buys for
those who want something new to read and pick up
my magazine whilst shopping for groceries etc.

7. Where will it be sold?
I will also sell my magazine using online magazine
retailers and also WHSmith. The reason for the use of
an online magazine retailer is because I will be directly
aiming my publication at magazine lovers, who are going
directly online to buy magazines purely. The reason for
WHSmith is because they are located in the most
busiest of places; airports. Therefore, those who are
travelling tend to buy water a snack and a magazine to
read to keep themselves busy on the plane. Therefore, I
will be able to target my magazine at tens of thousands
of people travelling everyday through the use of airports
(shopping/duty free area).
