3. INTRODUCTION
Communication is the activity of conveying meaningful information. It requires a
sender, a message, and an intended recipient. The communication process is
complete once the receiver has understood the sender and provides the feedback.
4. BARRIERS TO COMMUNICATION
No matter how good the communication systems in an organization is,
unfortunately barriers can and do often occur.
These barriers are those which make the message doubtful for the reader to
understand it and they get confuse to interpret the meaning for which the
message is sent to them.
5. PHYSICAL BARRIERS: Obstacles that prevents
movement of the flow of message physically.
Anything that impedes your progress or movement physically.
For example :power off while working, unwanted sound while meeting.
Network down while mailing etc.... s
6. 1.ENVIRONMENT : the overall environment where in communication
taking place has a effect. Atmosphere, tempreture.
2.NOISE: The noise is any type of disturbance that interferes and reduces the
clarity. Noise acts as a distraction and withdrawal of attention. Is of four types.
*physical noise
*psychological noise
*written noise
*visual noise
3.DISTANCE :A physical distance between sender and receiver especially in
oral communication may lead to distortion of message.
7. 4.PHYSICAL DISCOMFORT : If the meeting
arrangements is improper and chairs are of poor quality.
The learner maybe more conscious of it rather that
concentrating on the message.
5:DISTRACTION:At times, the media selection may
prove to be a distraction at attention is diverted. Also the
outside influence may hamper communication done at an
improper time prove to be ineffective.
8. LANGUAGE BRARRIE:
Inability to converse in a language that is known by both the sender and
receiver is the greatest barrier to effective communication.
1.VERBOSITY AND VERBOLISM : At times the language used by
the communication would be very much bookish making it difficult to comprehend
sometimes the speed would be very much making it difficult to understand.
2.LANGUAGE INDEQUACY : Somethimes there might exist a
language barrier.
3.UNCLEAR GRAPHICS AND SYMBOLS : During written
communication, if the sender uses some symbols which are not commonly used,
then the receiver gets wrong picture.
9. PSYCHOLOGICAL BARRIERS:
these are which directly related to some internal problem of the
destination. The receiver receives the message clearly but due to some reason fails
to understand & react properly.
BACKGROUND BARRIERS :
1.PREVIOUS KNOWLEDGE AND EXPERIENCE :
If student missed the link between present and past experience communication, he
would have fail to appreciate the message if Past experience have been dissatisfied
and un rewarding the effect.
2.CULTURE DISPARTILIES AND GENERATION GAP:
If there is a cultural lag and generation gap between sender &reciever

It refers to the hindrances in the flow of information among the employees
that might result in a commercial failure of an organization.

TO COMMUNICATION:
1. TO OVERCOME PHYSICAL BARRIERS
• Appropriate seating Arrangement
• Ensure Visibility & Audibility
• Environmental comfort
• Minimize visual/ Oral Distractions
• Appropriate medium
2 TO OVERCOME LANGUAGE BARRIERS
• Learn the language
• Carry translating dictionary
• The new graphic symbols used must be explained
• To reduce dependence on spoken words, visual aids mist be put into
use
13. 3.TO OVERCOME PSYCHOLOGICAL BARRIER
• Rewarding experience, efforts to motivate must be made
• Guidance and counseling to remove prejudice & I'll feeling
• One must provide assistantance, show sympathy deal with patiently
• To increase perception audio vesiual aids can be used
4.TO OVERCOME BACKGROUND BARRIERS
• One access learners background
• The communicator must keep on tune with the latest trend & try to adjust with
the younger generation.
5.TO OVERCOME ORGANISATIONAL BARRIERS
• healthy conductive atmosphere among the communicator and receiver
• Depending on group size appropriate media needs to be employed to reach
out to all.
14. CONCLUSION
Communication May break down as a result of
many communication barriers That May be attributed to
the sender or receiver. Therefore effective
communication requires familiarity with The barriers.
Choosing the right channel For Communication is also
important, because choosing the wrong medium
Undermines the message.
Working on our communication is broad brush
activity. We have to change our thoughts, feelings and
physical connections. That way we can break barriers that
get in our way and start building relationship that really
work.
