2. Production reflections
• This proforma is to record how you worked on your production
• You should complete this each week during production
• Consider all relevant areas that you covered that week
• Think about what worked/what didn’t work/how you can improve
and actions for the following sessions/weeks
3. Process – Day 1 • Over the weekend, I attempted to film
my select scenes that I will compile
with the stock footage in order to
create the music video. These scenes
being the forest scenes and the garage
scenes. Once production starts, I should
make sure that I check over all videos to
make sure they are of a high standard
and look how I want them to and I will
also start collecting stock footage to fill
in the majority of my video and create
more of the rock-punk genre my clips
may be currently lacking. During this
process, I made sure to reference my
proposed shots in order to get the right
angles, atmosphere and actors for each
shot and what each shot should look
like in theory.
4. Process – Day 2 • I started the main production
process of my music video, mainly
placing my filmed footage into
Premiere and attempting to edit it
such as removing the video audio
and using the Colour and Effects
tool in order to get the early
2000's look I wanted, which
mainly consisted of trial and error
in order to get the specific look I
wanted. I also started the process
of looking for stock footage and
working out where the clips will
be edited and placed throughout
the song, which I will continue
tomorrow.
5. Process – Day 3
• I began to make up the majority of
my music video, with the various
stock footage that I'd found
yesterday and throughout today. I
mainly used the razor tool to, after
placing the desired clip in the right
place, cut parts of the clip out or
take out unwanted footage. I also
used various features of Premiere
in order to get footage to look the
way I wanted, such as the colour
and effect tools like yesterday and
the speed/duration effect on
some clips in order to create a
sped up or slow-mo effect on
some clips, to get clips the correct
speed for a specific part of the
song or to reverse the
speed/duration to play the clip
backwards. This process will most
likely continue throughout the rest
of the week until completion.
6. Process – Day 4
I seemed to finish off the rest of my
music video today, mainly the cutting
to the beat, the placements of my
chosen abstract imagery during the
choruses and the chosen lip sync
scenes during the verses and
additional parts of the chorus.
Throughout this process though, I also
noticed that some of the clips seemed
to be getting stuck or lagging, which I
solved by rendering aid videos and
replacing them. However, due to my
feedback, tomorrow, I will continue to
improve my video by cutting more of
the clips to the beat as there seemed
to be a lack of this during the chorus
and possibly adding more abstract
imagery to the chorus and creating
more cuts to speed up the pace of the
video
7. Process – Day 5
I reviewed the entirity of my music video
and decided to act on my improvments
from yesterday. I mainly decided to try and
overlay certain effects using the various
overlay settings, the main examples being
during the lip sync scenes which use
various effects such as the static and the
skull overlay. Additionally, I also removed
and replaced some of the clips in order to
create a better cut to the beat or for the
beat of the song to make more sense in
context with the imagery presented. I have
also made sure to add the saturation
effect to the rest of the video clips, with
the exception of the record player videos
and clips that are short enough to only
appear on screen for a short period of
time, such as the fire explosion effect.
Tomorrow, I will give the video a final
review, check that all the video clips work
and upload to my blog
