This production diary details a video creator's 4-week process for making an installation video for a client. In week 1, they created initial footage of drumming and piano playing with lighting effects. They were unhappy with an audio issue but planned fixes. In week 2/3, they edited the footage together, adding transitions, effects and layering in After Effects. Next week they would color grade and export. In week 4, they finished exporting and were overall happy, though had to include unfinished installation footage. The project helped them gain skills in creative nonlinear editing and working independently.

He discussed the concept of quality improvement, emphasizing its applicability to various aspects of life, including personal, project, and program improvements. He defined quality as doing the right thing at the right time in the right way to achieve the best possible results and discussed the concept of the "gap" between what we know and what we do, and how this gap represents the areas we need to improve. He explained the scientific approach to quality improvement, which involves systematic performance analysis, testing and learning, and implementing change ideas. He also highlighted the importance of client focus and a team approach to quality improvement.
The Art Pastor's Guide to Sabbath | Steve ThomasonSteve Thomason
What is the purpose of the Sabbath Law in the Torah. It is interesting to compare how the context of the law shifts from Exodus to Deuteronomy. Who gets to rest, and why?
We all have good and bad thoughts from time to time and situation to situation. We are bombarded daily with spiraling thoughts(both negative and positive) creating all-consuming feel , making us difficult to manage with associated suffering. Good thoughts are like our Mob Signal (Positive thought) amidst noise(negative thought) in the atmosphere. Negative thoughts like noise outweigh positive thoughts. These thoughts often create unwanted confusion, trouble, stress and frustration in our mind as well as chaos in our physical world. Negative thoughts are also known as “distorted thinking”.

2. Week one
This week I have made my first installation video for my
client work. I did this by taking a video of me playing the
drums on my drum bad with flashing red and white lights
illuminating the scene. I also took a video of someone
playing the piano illuminated with a red light and added that
to the video. I really like the overall look video as it works
nicely and will make a fine addition to my installation. One
thing I am not happy about is that the microphone on the
top video is cut in half so its noticeable that its two videos
and takes away from the illusion. I will try to fix this with
black boxes or I may leave it as its only noticeable for a few
frames every now and then.
This week I also finished the song I am going to use and
wrote all my lyrics for it. I originally created the song in FL
studio but converted it too Garageband as I know it better. I
used a lot of VSTs and preset plugins to achieve the sound I
wanted and overall it sounds very good. I really enjoy the
drum beat as it is one of the best I have created. The lyrics
are a bit iffy but I think they will work nicely.
Next week I am going to be editing my final video and the
remaining installation pieces
3. Week 2/3
This week I edited my footage together and starting doing so preliminary
transitions effects. I went back on my original idea to do my own music due to
tech issues with the microphone and I was not happy with the overall feel of
the tune. I built up timeline and have started my glitch effects and jazzing up
the edit. I had all of the story and timeline placement ready to go before I
started so it was easy to find the shots I needed and add them in order. I used
a preset pack I found online for the transitions and glitch effect. This worked
great as it was an easy drag and drop onto an adjustment layer. They were
built up from existing effects in premiere so changing them was very easy as
the stem of the effects were there. I used a lot layering effects on the timeline
to create a picture in picture feel to the piece. I achieved this in both after
effects and premiere. I did all the ext warp effects in after effects as their
effect library is bigger than premiere. I layered that with base videos and other
little photos and assets on top. This worked very well to create the feel I
wanted. I also did a bit of animation using this same way of stacking the video
layers. This turned out really nicely as they appeared on screen in time with
the beat.
Next week I will be colour grading and exporting my final piece. I will also be
setting up my installation ready to film and present with all my other videos I
shot for this and possible a poster if I have time.

4. Week 4
• This week I finished my production and
exported my footage. I am overall happy
with my production. I cleaned up some
of the dodgy cuts and increased the
special effects on some of the long and
boring shots of just the actor. I ran out
of editing time to create the installation
so included some of that footage into
the video so it wouldn’t go to waste. I
feel like this project was beneficial as it
allowed me to work on my creative edits
for a non-linear piece and helped to gain
the skills I needed to perfect working
alone
