Evaluation of rough edit
I am going to evaluate all the good and bad aspects of my music video rough edit. I will also
be discussing what could be changed to make my music video a higher grade quality. The
song my group picked for our music video was “Radioactive” by Imagine Dragons. We
started making our music video by filming all our shots and locations we had picked out
prior to filming. Then we exported all of our footage from the camera’s memory card onto
the computer. Then on Adobe Premier Pro I created my rough edit by assembling all of the
footage I wanted with the audio.
The following are things I think are good about my music video: The audio of my music video
is in sync with the footage, which makes the video look professional. The mise-en-scene
shows clearly conventions of an indie rock music video, by use of camera shots. An example
is the panning shot which features the person singing at00:29. Another indie rock
convention is the use of guitar being played throughout the video. I like how my music
video runs smoothly and I think I timed every shot to a good duration depending on which
shot it was.
The following are things I think are bad about my video and could change in the second
edit:I thought some of my music videos footage was quite repetitive, in order to change this
and keep my audience more captivated I could shoot some different footage and replace
parts of my video. Another aspect of my video I would change is the black cuts which I
purposely left in for effect. This is because my video would look more professional and I
could alternatively add in footage but just give it an effect which would be similar to the
black cuts. An effect I have in mind for this is the black and white effect as I think it would be
visually attractive for that clip of my music video. I think the shots at the start of the music
video and at 00:08 could be reshot to make it look as though the guitar is being played more
properly. I also think that the scene’s that feature a lot of singing could be reshot so the
singer looks as though he is speaking more clearly. Another thing about my music video I
could change is to include more scenery shots, as I only have one throughout my whole
video.
