2. Audience Profile
• Age = 16 +
• Gender = Male Oriented
• Class = C12D
• Desires/Interests = Horror, expects the game to display conventions of the horror
genre, such as jump-scares, gore etc. Which the game is expected to include. Pixel
art style, which was vastly used in early versions of past games and now seems to
be making a re-emergence in modern gaming media eg. Undertale, this will be
seen in all my designs in my game. Puzzle solving abilities, which are apparent in
either exploration games such as my own or are a game all of themselves. Games
oriented towards the goth genre or convey a goth style or tendencies, which will
be seen throughout multiple areas of my game, in the design, environment, areas
of gameplay and also assets that intersect with the horror genre.
4. Style sheet
Overall, I have chosen these types of designs, pixal art and colour schemes so to hopefully
replecate the horror genre in areas such as the lighting and mis-en-scene, put my own spin on
certain areas of design and gameplay but also make areas of design easier, such as when I create
my characters, a less complex pixal art design will allow me more time on assets like
background/puzzle design and animation. I have also chosen some of these elements to draw
from in my creation process as they closly reflect either how I want the character to look or how I
can draw said character using that type of pixel design. Most of the object designs displayed on
my style sheet will mainly be used during the puzzle animations, where the player will attempt to
solve various types of puzzles in order to earn rewards and, because of these, eventually progress
throughout the house and the game as a whole.
