SAM WILLIAMS evaluated his music video production process. He researched music videos to inform his aesthetic choices. For his video, he planned shots of a car at the beginning and end, but was unable to film other planned shots due to COVID restrictions. His time management was initially good but filming plans fell through when equipment was missing and people got sick. As it was his first time filming and editing, he focused on what looked good but lacked a tripod. Editing was challenging with too little footage, so he used stock footage. The video's aesthetic was meant to be slow and calming, changing as shots of traveling and space were added. Peer feedback noted the need for more organized planning and additional footage.

3. Research
I researched lots of a lot of different music videos from
The chemical brothers and the prodigy and the avalanches.
In the videos there is ether fast moving dance scenes or
slow peaceful shots.
For my video I mixed them all together and had it slowly
build up.
4. Planning
For the start and end of my video I knew I wanted to
put a car in it and were I wanted to film the car.
I story boarded the beginning and the end of the
video and had a list of shots I wanted to do but I
couldn’t film them due to the current state of the
world. So instead, I used stock footage in the
middle.
I also planned to use my friends, but I couldn't due
to covid.
5. Time Management
For the start of my video my time management was good I
had all the equipment I needed and all the people I needed to
film with but after that it all went wrong. I wanted to film down
south but I didn’t bring a battery for my camera and I wanted
to film with my friends but they got covid so I couldn't film
with them.
I also didn’t do as much of the admin and the
evaluations which left me with a lot of writing to do. Which left
me very confused for the most part of it.
6. Technical Qualities - camera
This was the first time I had filmed a video, so I didn’t really know what I was
doing so when It came time to film, I looked at it from a photographer's
perspective and filmed what I think looked good I filmed a lot in landscape. I
wanted to use a tripod to film the majority of my shots, but I didn’t have the
plate for it.
7. Technical Qualities –
editing/post
The editing of my video was what I wanted to be the problem was I didn’t film
enough footage this meant I had to cut down the song but I still didn’t have
enough footage so I planned to fill the gaps with stock footage, but I couldn't
fined the right footage to put in the gaps. The only real visual editing I did was
I put a fade at the end of the song and revers two shots I also put and overlay
with numbers counting down to the music. I didn’t really ad much editing
because I haven't done any editing before so this was really a test to see what
I could do.
8. Aesthetic Qualities
The aesthetics my video were meant to look slow and
calming and peaceful at the beginning and getting more
chaotic towards the end. I wanted to show the travel and
space theme of the song, so I filmed a car driving and
different shots of places and I found some footage of
space and the stars which changes the color of the overall
video as the car's shots have a grey and green look to
them were as the space shots add many different
colors and improves the look of the video.
9. Audience Appeal
for my video I tried to make my video look as typical to the genre of music
video, but it was hard because the song, I chose overlapped in to 3 different
categories, so I tried to fit in to all the in different parts of the video this was
partly successful because I managed to get the first part of the video done
but I couldn't complete the middle part of the video due to a lake of
footage and nearly finished the end of the video. The video is slow paced. I
got some footage of space to show the space theme of the song and ads a
bit more colure to the video.
