I got a lot of inspiration from websites and the internet, for example, my chosen photographers,
Randy Crossley’s website. He travelled the world and took photos of many animals and wildlife, I
really liked his photos. I struggled to pick a topic for my exhibition until I spoke to my dad at home,
he told me he had a Macro lens I could borrow. I went out with the Macro lens and really enjoyed it,
therefore I picked macro. I then decided to mix the inspiration from Randy Crossley and inspiration
from the macro lens and I picked Macro Wildlife. When planning my exhibition I decided to call it
‘Zoom into nature’.
When taking my photos, I used a camera and Macro lens, I took the photos in my garden and around
my house (I live in a rural area). After I had taken my photos, I did have to edit them on Photoshop
and adjust the brightness as to get the raindrop photos it had to be rainy (and for the other photos it
was also cloudy and raining). During this, I have learnt many new skills, such as camera skills and
Photoshop skills. I am glad I’ve learnt these skills as it will help me in the future with my future
media projects.
When I took these photos, it was very cloudy and rainy. Even though I was outside, it was still quite
dull and dark. Here is an example:
As its quite dull, I went to Photoshop and adjusted the levels of highlight, midtone and shadow on
the histogram.

3. Im very happy I did this as it make the photos look so much better and vibrant. This improved the
photo and made it a lot more eye catching. I didn’t edit the others as I think they are fine as they are.
I feel this project has helped me a lot and I think I have improved as a photographer as I’ve learnt
lots of new skills. I think that this knowledge has helped me a lot. I am very pleased with my final
photos, however I am quite annoyed as I missed many photo opportunities and lots of my favourite
photos weren’t quite in focus. The photos turned out a lot better than I expected as I didn’t believe I
was capable of taking good photographs. This has made me more confident about taking and editing
photos in the future.
I really enjoyed this topic. If I did this again in the future I think I would still do macro as it is a very
enjoyable topic and the outcome of the photos look great. However if I did this again I would
improve my layout of my photographs as I think the background almost takes the attention away
from my photographs.
This project was really enjoyable yet difficult too. I decided take a macro photo of a cats eye
however my cat is very intolerant therefore I decided to take a photo of a human eye instead. I used
my dads eye and I’m glad I did as the wrinkles and veins are very prominent. I like this photo as the
eye is so detail. First I had to take the photo upside down as It was very difficult to get his eye in the
right place. Here is the original, unedited photo.
I started to play around with the eye photo. First, I rotated the eye so it was the right way round and
cropped it so the pupil was directly in the middle. I created a selection of the pupil and iris, then I
added a 50px feather and duplicated the layer. I inversed the selection and deleted the background
and turned the background layer black and white using Image Adjustments using the Blue Filter
Preset. Then I saturated the pupil and iris layer by +30
Here is the final, edited piece.
4. As well as this I edited my Strawberry photography. I brightened it up using this:

Questionnaire results
I asked 4 males and 2 females for their opinion on my photos. Everyone I asked liked my photos and
topic I chose. When I asked peoples favourites it was a mix between 3 different answers.

Spider Strawberry Eye Pink Flower Prickly Plant Water Droplet
I make graphs so it clearer for me to see my results. People chose the spider photo because it was a
vibrant, colourful photo that stands out and it was a difficult photo to get and I got it.
