Hope Smith has been working on producing a music video for their FMP. They downloaded footage, edited clips in Premiere Pro to cut them to the beat. They added transitions and effects like an eye zoom. Color and lighting were adjusted. A VHS effect was added that took some troubleshooting. Extra bath footage was incorporated. Static and sound effects were added at the end. Photos were taken for the album cover which Hope worked on designing, incorporating cloning and distortion effects.

What have you been working on?
Today I started the production part of the FMP. First I downloaded all the
videos I filmed for my music video on to the mac. Then I put all the videos
and audio for the song in to premiere pro. Once I got all the clips of the video
in order I started to cut the clips so they cut to the beat and to cut out any
parts I didn't need for the video.
How do you feel about how this work has gone?
I am happy with how the video is going so far, I found it quite easy to get the
video to cut to the beat and get all the lip syncing lined up with the song.
What were the main successes in the work?
The main success was that I had more than enough footage for my video so I
don't need to film anymore footage unlike last time when I didn't have
enough and had to film extra clips to fill the time.

What were the elements that were less successful or you had
difficulty with?
There was one clip that I struggled to get to cut to the beat because
there wasn't much time between the two lines of the song I was trying
to cut it in-between.
What else could you have done to expand the work, improve the
work, etc?
I could have gotten on to adding in some transitions between the clips

Tomorrow I am going to add in all the effects and transitions.

What have you been working on?
I put in all the transition effects in that I wanted to use. I used a YouTube
video to learn how to do a transition effect where you zoom into an eye and
then you can see the next video playing inside the eye. I also adjusted the
lighting/colour of the video so that it is all the same and fits with the mood
of the video.
How do you feel about how this work has gone?
I am happy with how the work went it did take quite a while to get the eye
zoom effect to work and look ok but I got there in the end.
What were the main successes in the work?
The main success was recolouring the video. The original videos were all
quite bright which didn't fit the mood of the song and video so I had to make
every darker without taking away any detail

What were the elements that were less successful or you had difficulty
with?
I did struggle withe the eye zoom effect and it is not as smooth as I would
like because it is a little bit jumpy but I still like the way it looks with the rest
of the video.
What else could you have done to expand the work, improve the work,
etc?
I think I could have spent more time on the eye zoom effect so that I could
try and make it smoother

I am going to add effects to the actual video parts next lesson

What have you been working on?
Today I used a YouTube tutorial to learn how to add a VHS effect onto my
video then I started to cut up the effect layer so it looked like it was glitching
and because there are parts of the video I don't want the effect on.
How do you feel about how this work has gone?
It took a long time to put the effect on so that took up a whole lesson but I
was happy with how the days work turned out in the end.
What were the main successes in the work?
The main success was the way the VHS effect looked I was very happy with
the way it turned out and it looks really cool.

What were the elements that were less successful or you had difficulty
with?
The less successful part was because there is a lot of effects on the video it
takes half an hour to render the video each time I make an adjustment.
What else could you have done to expand the work, improve the work,
etc?
I should have decided which parts of the video I want the VHS effect on
before putting it over the whole video and now having to cut parts out.
Action Plan - what is the next step for the project?
I'm going to carry on cutting the VHS effect to where I want it

What have you been working on?
I spent today cutting the VHS effect in different places to make parts of
it look like it is glitching, I also deleted sections I didn't want the VHS
effect over
How do you feel about how this work has gone?
I'm happy with how the work went I like how the effect looks and it
works well with the rest of the video
What were the main successes in the work?
The main success was getting the VHS to look like it was glitching
because it looks really cool and makes the video look a lot less choppy.

What were the elements that were less successful or you had difficulty
with?
The less successful part was how long the video takes to render so I wasn't
able to get as much done as I had hoped because it would take 10-30
minutes each time I rendered it.
What else could you have done to expand the work, improve the work,
etc?
I'm going to add some of the bath scene into the beginning so it flows a lot
better.
Action Plan - what is the next step for the project?
I'm going to finish cutting the VHS effect and add in some footage from the
bath scene to the beginning.

What have you been working on?
Today I finished making/editing my music video. The first thing I did was put some clips
from the bath scene at the beginning when Emilie is laying down just to break it up a bit
and introduce the bath part a little bit sooner. Then I added in a TV static effect to the end
of the video to make the video look more like and old film, I also put in the TV static sound
at the end along with a TV remote click sound effect so it sounds like you are turning the
TV you're watching the video on, off.
How do you feel about how this work has gone?
I am very happy with how the music video turned out on the whole and I'm happy with
how the work I did today turned out although there was some trial and error when adding
in the extra bath scenes because I couldn't decide which sections to use and how I was
going to put them in.
What were the main successes in the work?
I'm very happy with how the TV static effect turned out, I played around with ending
transition a bit till I got it to look how I wanted but the effect was really simple to make.

with?
The less successful part was adding in the extra bath scenes because it took
me a long time to decide where I wanted to put them and if I wanted it to
look like it was glitching, I also had to decide which sections of the bath clips
I was going to use which took quite a while too.
What else could you have done to expand the work, improve the work,
etc?
I feel like some of the glitching effects are in the wrong place or a bit over
done but I am still very happy with the final product.
Action Plan - what is the next step for the project?
On Friday I am going to do a photoshoot in the college studio to get pictures
for the album cover.

What have you been working on?
Today I uploaded all the pictures I took during the photoshoot onto my one drive,
then I picked out my favourites so I could start to edit the raw pictures to get the
Colours right. Once I decided on some pictures to use I started to work on my
album cover, I got 2 pictures that look the same but one had flowers and the other
didn't then I cut each one in half and put them side by side. When I was happy with
the placement I used the smudge tool to make it look like a digital drawing and
used the paint brush to even out the colours.
How do you feel about how this work has gone?
I not very happy with how the cover is going because the picture is of a bear head
the digital drawing effect I am using doesn't look very good on it.
What were the main successes in the work?
The main success was getting each picture cut in the middle so it lined up with the
other picture perfectly.

with?
The less successful part was choosing to use the digital drawing effect
because it doesn't look very good because of all the texture in the picture.
What else could you have done to expand the work, improve the work,
etc?
I could have changed what I was doing sooner instead of finishing the cover
when I already knew I didn't like it.

Tomorrow I am going to start a new cover design

What have you been working on?
Today I picked a new picture from the photoshoot to use as the colour. First I
edited the raw camera footage then I started to use the stamp and lasso tool
to cut out and copy some of the flowers on the floor so there looked like
there is more than there was.
How do you feel about how this work has gone?
I am happy with how this new cover is going so far, I already like it much
better than what I did yesterday
What were the main successes in the work?
The main success was adding in extra flowers to the picture because I think it
looks better more filled out then it did when there was only the flowers from
the bouquet.

difficulty with?
I struggled to get parts of the floor to blend in with the rest of it when I
used the stamp and lasso tool to copy the flowers.
What else could you have done to expand the work, improve the
work, etc?
I feel like I could have worked a bit quicker to get a bit more done then
just adding in some flowers.

I am going to carry on working on this album cover.

What have you been working on?
Today I finished making my album cover. The first thing I did was clone some of the flowers
so it looked like there is more than there really was. Next I resized the image to a 5x5 inch
square so it is the shape of an album cover. once I did that I got another image from the
photoshoot that still had the flowers on the stems and changed the layer into a pin light
layer, then I moved the layer to the left to distort the image. The next thing I did was make
a copy of the head then I turned off the red channel on the copy and moved it to the right,
once I did this I used the rectangle select tool to select different areas of the head then
moved them either left or right slightly to give the head a distorted/glitch effect. I got a
picture of the 'parental advisory' sticker from Google to put in the corner of the cover. The
last thing I did was put the text on for the song and artists name, once all the text was on I
added a pattern overlay to it so it adds some texture to the writing and looks creepier then
plain writing.
How do you feel about how this work has gone?
I am extremely happy with the end result of how the album cover turned out, although it
looks nothing like my original idea I am much happier with how this turned out and I think
it suits the video much better.

I think the main success was cloning the flowers, making them look realistic and like
they were there during the photoshoot not added in later.
What were the elements that were less successful or you had difficulty with?
The less successful part was getting the two layers of the body to line up so it
looked like there was only one person while also making the image look distorted.
What else could you have done to expand the work, improve the work, etc?
I think I could have added the glitch effect onto the whole body not just the
flowers/hands and the head.

I am going to do my improvements to my planning.
