In week 1, the producer did contextual research on creative directors and a broad proposal. In week 2, they researched existing fashion videos and images. In week 3, they conducted audience research through interviews and a survey. In week 4, they planned for problems that may arise. In week 5, they conducted experiments editing images and video. In week 6, they planned the logistics of the production.
2. Week 1
I did my proposal and my contextual research. For contextual research
I researched different video and art designers and looked at their styles
influences and what they do now, for this I looked at a range of
different areas like directors to fashion designers to manga creators. I
looked at this wide range of creative directors because I am looking at
what inspired these creative directors of these successful careers.
For my proposal I gave a rough idea of what I want to make it wasn't
too detailed and gave a bit more of a general idea of what I would want
to make but I left it flexible since I knew I would have new ideas of
what I would want to add to my production.
3. Week 2
I started doing my research and looking at existing products I mainly
looked at fashion videos and some fashion Instagram images the way
they have been styled and what I liked and didn't like about the
video/images then putting in screenshots. I also started looking at the
production of the videos and how I think they were made. I also started
to look at the UK fashion market and I was looking at how certain
trends can effect the sales and popularity of a brand
4. Week 3
In week 3 I started to do more audience-based research and seeing
what my target audience like, don't like, and expect to see from fashion
adverts. I did interviews where I interviewed 3 people with
different styles to see what they collectively like and don't like to see if I
can style the project in a way to appeal to a wider audience. I also did a
survey on people who are mostly within the target age range to give
me a bit wider and more general feeling on what people like and don't
like and where they buy their clothes and whether they like to buy
there clothes online or in person.
5. Week 4
This week I have been working on problem solving I have been looking
at different issues which may come up whilst doing my project. As well
as issue that I have had in the past and how I can rectify them. I have
also been planning my experiments and so I can practice before doing
my actual project.
6. Week 5
I did my experiments this week. I did them by getting footage and
images of Jay and then trying my experiments on them, for example
editing in photoshop pictures of Jay, creating a logo and creating a
spinning PNG of a symbol. I made the spinning symbol by following a
YouTube tutorial, I could use this tutorial on my logo of my brand
since I have seen other brands have spinning 3D PNG’s of there logo. I
made the scrapbook style off a YouTube tutorial on how to edit the
ripped paper aesthetic, it taught me to find shapes in the
environment and then use them to implement transitions or designs ,
for example the car roof with the fangs
7. Week 6
I have done planning this week and I have been planning the
production and how I am going to do it. I have investigated the actual
logistics of making the product and what I will need to make it my main
focuses are the two videos which are two very different styles to show
the range of brands and products the brand owns. This has helped me
to plan out the actual product and I have began to see it take shape as
losing ideas which wouldn’t be possible in the time frame like more
than 2 videos.
8. Week 7
Today I filmed with Alfie I filmed around the Osbaldwick and hull road
area. The main locations where I filmed were space station petrol
station, B&Q car park, outside Sainsburys local and hull road. We got
most of the shots that I need for my production for video 1 the next
few shots I need to get are outside the Minster.
Today I filmed with Alfie, and we filmed outside the minster, and we
were slightly distracting because two of our friends saw us and
watched us film and take photos, so we filmed slightly later than I
wanted to, but the lighting did look better for it with it still being light
so you could see Alfie clearly but with the camera making a gloomy
effect because of the ISO.
9. Week 8
Today I filmed with Antony since this was the only day, he could record I
had to try and get all the footage that I needed in one day. We first
filmed in Stamford in some fields with sheep's which I had scouted
before, we also filmed at the viaduct. Then we went into town and
tried to record at Museum gardens but they had shut so I decided that
we should record at Clifford's tower and we had a photo shoot there.
By the time we had got to Clifford's tower it began to get dark which
means I am going to have to increase the brightness on Premier pro
and Photoshop.
10. Week 9
This week I have started editing my footage from the footage I recorded
over the easter half term I’m still working on video 2 which I began
working on before easter. So far, I have been working on readjusting
the brightness of the since the ISO was very low, I also have begun
doing animation for the clothes and showing what they are. The way I
do these animations is by taking a screen shot of the video then adding
and scrunch paper background then adding the text in photoshop
saying what the product was, then I save it as a PNG and add it to the
video I will usually make one or 2 PNGs with slight changes to them to
great the proper animation.
11. Week 10
This week I continued doing video 1 and I was editing footage
of Antony at first, I realised that the music should be
shortened since it didn't really look too good with it being that
long because I would have extended clips which would have
weird bits of me and Antony talking and Antony getting
prepared which wouldn’t look professional. I have also started
to cut out my favourite clips of my footage and have begun
putting them in time with the beat.
12. Week 11
I have begun editing on video 1 since I am not sure if I will be able
complete both videos in time and I have more footage and video 1 is
the main video. I have begun cutting up the footage and began adding
them into the video and have started cutting them to the beat. Scott
showed me a technique where you sequence images to create a great
flowing motion which work well with the beat at the start of my video. I
have also found this transition effect in premier called whip which
makes the footage create a glitch sort of effect which is very useful.
13. Week 12
This week I have finished video 1 for the parts of the long where it
lagged and glitched. I cut up long segments of the same shot then cut
in between them and moved them around then added the whip
transition to each clip, to make it look like the clips are lagging along
with the song, also at the ending I slowed down the video to match the
song when his vocals slowed down then when the speed picked back
up, I sped the video up.
14. Week 13
This week I finished video 2, from shortening the length of the song it
gave me a lot more time in this week to add more designs into the
work. For example the paper rip sky effect where I make a cut out of
the landscape, cut out the sky put it into premier pro, then zoom the
shot into the rip and then zoom back out onto the shot, this effect
worked very well and gave a good fluid motion to the animation.
15. Week 14
I finished both of my posters this week I made them both in photoshop
the first one I had begun before easter, but I needed to finish it. I
created them both in the same style of cutting out the model then
layering them over a plain background then adding the logo and for the
intermission one the intermission logo.
I then did my evaluation where I evaluated all my work form the past
few weeks, I looked at the pros and cons and then said how I would
improve the work based on how I viewed the work.
