Advertising Unit Evaluation
We hadthree productsto choose from – cereal bar,water or chewinggum.My team(JoshandI)
chose to do the cereal bar because we botheatcereal bars andit was relevanttous.
We came up with9 possible names,we chose RainbowRiderbecause itsoundeddifferentto
anythingelse andwe thoughtitsoundedlike itendorsedhealth. Tocreate the logowe researched
on logo-creatingwebsites,andfinallyIuseda template inPhotoshop andstartedtocreate our logo.
I had the ideaof usingall the coloursof the rainbow shownasbrush strokesalthoughitdidn’tquite
go as I hoped.However,thisdidn’tmatterbecause the stickmenwe addedlatermade upforit.
We are happy withthe name andlogo we wentwithandI can’t thinkof anythingwe couldchange
aboutit that wouldn’tnullifythe impactitwouldhave.The wrapper,while itwasa greatconcept-
the random streaksof colourmightlookbetteras brushstrokesfroma paintbrush.Also,the
stickmenonthe bar couldhave lookedslightlymore like actual humanbeings- theydidhave defined
features,buttheystill lookedlike stickmen.
For our printadvertsJoshdidthe magazine advertandI didbannersfor a bus. I was happywith
these.
The TV advertfor our productwas alsoa good concept- butwhenwe got tofilmingandediting,the
advertdidnot go to plan- itwas executedbadlyandwe hadto call off the advertdue to time
constraints.Despite this,the message behindthe baris still cleartous. Nexttime we couldmaybe
ask someone elsewhoismore confidentinfrontof the camera,to be inour advert.AlsoIneedto
practice my editingskillstoimprove mynextfilmingproject.

My mainrole inthe teamwas designer.Idesignedthe logoandthe wrapperandJoshdidmore of
the marketingcampaign.Iam pleasedIhadthisrole as art anddesignare my strengths.
What wentwell isthatwe workedwell togetherandcooperated onthe task.We dividedthe tasks
evenlybetweenthe two of us,and whenwe bothworkedonsomething,we discussed the prosand
cons before choosingthe bestdesigns.
I wrote the script forthe group pitchwhichI feltwasa good script.I thinkthe pitch wentwell,the
teachersaidI spoke clearlyandwithconfidence,andwas‘upbeatandpositive’.We couldhave
improvedourpitchbyincludingthe TV advertbutwe were disappointedinthissowe didn’tinclude
it.
Overall Ifeel thatI have learntaboutadvertising,whichbefore Iknew nothingabout.Mydesigns
wentwell butmyfilmworkandeditingneedsimproving.
