Frank Scherschel was a photographer born in 1907 in Madison, Wisconsin who worked as a news photographer for The Milwaukee Journal from 1926 to 1942 before joining Life magazine. As a staff photographer for Life, he covered World War II in Europe and the Pacific, receiving photography awards for his work. Later in his career, he oversaw the photographic laboratory for the United States Information Agency before retiring in 1972.
