The document provides an evaluation of Louis Cooper's magazine design project. It summarizes the strengths and weaknesses of his research, planning, time management, and the technical and aesthetic qualities of the final product. Peer feedback noted that the inclusion of the British flag and font style were good, but text boxes or additional images could have been added. Upon reflection, Louis agrees he could have improved the color scheme to better match the background image.
3. Research
• The strengths of my research were that I was able to take other designs
from other magazines and combine the ones I really liked to add into my
own magazine , this strengthened the design of my magazine because I
was able to make it look as neat and professional as possible.
• The weaknesses of my research may have been that by doing research on
certain types of magazines I was un exposed to other kind of magazines
which could have had unique and cool design ideas I could use.

4. Planning
• Planning allowed me to get a solid idea down of what it is I wanted to do,
whether that be experiments or research . I was able to slowly do my work
and add details as I went on with further with the project . This helped by
making my work more detailed than it otherwise would have been.
• Weaknesses were that my planning was all based around 1 specific type of
product and I feel I could have benefited better by exploring other ideas.
• In my pre production I made a general and rough design of how I wanted
my final product to look , this helped me get a layout to use as a reference
when I eventually made my final product.
5. Time Management
• I managed my time well by setting myself deadlines for when I needed to
do my work , this helped me finish my work on time and also allowed me
to make any changes to my work without having to worry about if I was
going to reach the deadline.
6. Technical Qualities
Technical qualities of my product are that I used photoshop to help my magazine look
neat and professional. Certain tools that was really good to achieve this was
photoshop , photoshop allowed me to edited my magazine freely and the exact way I
had in mind without any restrictions . It was better than a different photo editing soft
where such as paint because I could use tools such as the re sizing tool to change the
size of my images without loosing pixels .
7. Aesthetic Qualities
I like how my work came out because it looks professional and interesting to read, the
inclusion of the British flag meant that any potential reader who wanted to buy the
magazine would know exactly where it is based. Another thing I liked about my magazine
front page was the highlights of what the magazine has contained inside , this may make
a potential buyer even more interested because they know exactly what the magazine is
discussing.

My Project
I like the large font mast head showing
the name of the magazine .
8. Audience Appeal
I have appealed to my audience of working class men by first of all making the
magazine only £5 for a monthly issue magazine which is a very fair price . Another
way I appealed to this type of audience is by including an image of a male on the
front cover of the magazine which directly targets this male audience and appeals
more to them as it could be seen as more relatable. My questionnaire found that
people would pay £5 a month for a magazine so I made it this much. Another thing I
found out from my questionnaire was that people were interested in reading about
lake/river fishing so that is what I made my magazine about.
10. Feedback 1
• What did you like about the product?
– I like the inclusion of the union jack along with the
font style and colouring.
• What improvements could have been made to
the product?
– Including text boxes on the double page spread
11. Feedback 2
• What did you like about the product?
– I liked the contrast colours for the text so its easy to read , its nice and detailed
and it has a general theme representing the UK.
• What improvements could have been made to
the product? – could have included 1 or 2 more images
showing off different fish species.
12. Feedback 3
• What did you like about the product?
– The usage of colours
• What improvements could have been made to
the product? – could have included more
writing or images on the front for added
detail.
13. Peer Feedback Summary
• What do you agree with from your peer
feedback? – I agree that I could have included
text boxes in my double page spread.
• What do you disagree with from your peer
feedback? – The usage of colours being good.
14. Peer Feedback Summary
If I were to change anything about my product it would be the colours I used , the
colours would be something I would change because I felt like my font was too bright
especially on the masthead . The bright colours didn’t really match the background
image of it being gloomy Britain but other than that I am happy with how my
magazine came out and I like the way it looks !
