The document analyzes survey results for a music video project. It found that most respondents were female and under 17 years old. This age range and genre of indie rock music should be the main targets for the video. Location shots will be taken at Black Park forest and their school stage, including common props like musical instruments but excluding alcohol given the target age group.
2. With more female respondents than male, it may be possible that we have
collected some biased results, however with the lead singer and band
members all being male, it is possible that our music video may appeal to
the female market slightly more than the males.
3. With half of our respondents coming from the 17 or younger age range, it is
clear that this should be our main target market. For this reason we have
decided to target our video at 16-20 year olds in order to attempt to appeal to
2 of the age ranges we included in our survey.
4. 10 of our respondents selected Indie-Rock music as one of their favourite music
genres, therefore it is clear that we have made the right choice in selecting to make
an Indie-Rock video. The category ‘other’ was selected by respondents who wanted
to select ‘Rock’.
5. We asked this question in order to try and gain some inspiration from other
music videos which were popular with our target market and to see which
style of video they prefer.
6. We asked this question in order to ensure that our target market
understood the genre of ‘Indie-Rock’ and did not get it confused with Heavy
Metal bands such as Metallica, or Pop artists such as Justin Bieber.
7. Responses included ‘plot relating to lyrics’, ‘performance shots’, ‘black and white’,
‘interesting narrative’ all of which we plan to incorporate into our music video.
8. With 66% of our respondents selecting a Forest as one of the main locations they
would expect to see in a music video, we have decided upon Black Park as the
location for our narrative shots. We will then be using our school stage for the
performance shots.
9. The main props that our target audience would expect to see in an Indie-Rock
music video are musical instruments, which we will be including in the
performance shots. Other popular props and special effects included smoke, rain,
and alcohol. However, as the age group we are aiming our music video at starts at
16, we will not be using the consumption of alcohol in our music video.
