2. HOW OLD ARE YOU?
WHAT IS YOUR GENDER?
We sent our music video
survey to a sample of
people in our target
audience. We are going
to be targeting people
aged 16-24 year olds the
bar chart demonstrates
that the responses from
the survey represent what
our target audience
wants. We also had a
large percentage of
females answering the
survey. We will be aiming
to target more women
that men because of the
nature of the song.
3. WHAT MUSIC DO YOU LIKE TO LISTEN
TO?
We asked out target audience what kind of
music they like to listen to. A large
percentage of people chose pop this was
reassuring to use as we have chosen to do a
pop song. Other people who chose the
other option selected indie style music,
because of this we are going to try and
incorporate indie elements when creating
our video.
4. WHAT PLATFORM DO YOU LISTEN TO
MUSIC ON?
We asked the question of what
platform do you like to listen to music
on because depending on the
platform will depend if there is a
music video is available. 20% of
people still listen to music on Youtube
where the music video is available this
shows me that music videos are still
popular and it is worth out while
making one. However many people
listen to music on streaming services
where the will be able to listen to the
music but sometimes the video isn’t
available.
5. HOW WOULD YOU RANK THESE LOCATIONS
ON THE MOST APPEALING TO SEE IN A
MUSIC VIDEO? 1 BEING THE MOST
APPEALING.
For our music video we hope to film
in urban areas and around the city
of Bristol. These results were
pleasing to see as our target
audience find in a city the most
aesthetically pleasing. Other
locations like in a county side are
also very appealing however we feel
like the setting of a country side
does not match the genre of our
song. We are going to incorperate
other popular locations like a high
street and in a house.
6. WHAT WOULD YOU LIKE TO SEE IN A
CURRENT MUSIC VIDEO?
The target audience expect to see
special effects and lots of props in
new music videos. We are going to
try and include lots of modern day
props in our music video to represent
the artist lifestyle. Special effects is an
important element to our target
audience however because we are
trying to represent the artists life it
might be hard to include these
without making it seem unrealistic
but we are going to try and include
them where we can.
7. WHEN WATCHING THIS MUSIC VIDEO WHO
WOULD YOU EXPECT/WANT TO SEE
SINGING?
From these results its clear to use that
out artist and actors in the music video
need to be young so they are relatable to
the audience. The audience were 50-50
over a group of mixed genders and a
young girl. It is clear to me that we need
to include a female. This fits well with our
idea as were our going to have a female
artist with other young females being
actors.
8. WHAT KIND OF MUSIC VIDEO WOULD
YOU LIKE TO SEE?
For this question we gave 4 possible
answers. The most popular answer we got
was to make an illustrative video. We
predicted that this would be the most
popular answer this is because the majority
of music videos on the market are
illustrative. 20% of people answered
performance and amplification and 0
people answered disjuncture. For our music
we planned to make a performance video
however because of these results we might
decide to include elements of illustrative to
please our audience.
9. IS THERE ANYTHING ELSE WE COULD
IMPROVE ON WHEN CREATING OUR MUSIC
VIDEO?
When making our survey we didn’t make this question compulsory this is
because people will often lie or not give full answers if they don’t have
anything to say, this could obscure our results and not give an accurate
representation of what our target audience think. However because this
answer isn’t compulsory we didn’t get very many answers. Although the
answers that we did receive were advising us to have a running story line
throughout the video to make sure it makes sense to the audience.
Other answers were complementing our idea and said that it was good
and they were looking forward to seeing the finished product.
