3. BAUER MEDIA GROUP
Bauer is one of the main distributors of magazines as they are
Europe’s biggest privately owned publishing group. This group is a
world wide media empire offering over 300 magazines in 15
countries as well as online, TV and radio stations.
Some of the magazines they distribute are Q, MOJO, KISS,
KERRANG and EMPIRE.
Their strategy is to connect audiences with excellent content
through their broad multi-touch point brand platforms.
One of the magazines ‘kerrang’ is a rock magazine and other
magazines Bauer distribute are totally opposite genres, therefore
Bauer are able to reach out to a variety of different target
audience, which is covering the majorities of peoples music taste.
Therefore my magazine wouldn’t be competing with magazines
such as kerrang or different genre based magazines in general.
4. IPC MEDIA LTD
IPC Media Ltd is a consumer magazine and a digital publisher in the
UK, with a large portfolio selling over 350 millions copies per year. It
was founded in 1958 in the UK and it publishes newspapers and
magazines such as; Uncut, InStyle and NME.
Looking into this distributor is suitable for my magazine because it’s a
large and well established company which publishes for many
magazines. As my magazine is chart music, therefore relating to the
most popular songs at the moment, it has to reach a mass audience
as the genre is increasingly popular.
5. I have chosen IPC Media Ltd, as they are the most
suitable company to be able to be successful in
distributing my media product. The reason I think IPC
media Ltd is most suitable is because they have a good
experience with popular magazines such as uncut and
NME.
IPC media Ltd currently do not have an existing
pop/chart magazine, therefore my media product
wouldn’t have to compete with another pop magazine
of theirs as mine would be the only one.
