2. BAUER MEDIA GROUP
• Bauer Media Group is a media empire that produces magazines
(over 300 magazines in 15 countries), digital products, radio and TV
stations in local markets across the world, and are based in Europe.
• Began in 1953 with the launch of Angling Times.
• They have multiple offices across the globe.
The next slide shows all the magazine companies that Bauer owns.
3. As you can tell, they own many popular magazine companies.
4. TWO SPECIFIC PUBLICATIONS
Although
these two examples are
both music magazines,
they have a very
different target
audience. For example,
Kerrang is aimed at
teenagers into new
young bands; while on
the other hand, Q is for
more mature readers
with a more eclectic
taste in music. This is
shown through the busy
cover of Kerrang, and
the Simplicity of Q.
5. FUTURE PLC
• Future plc is the sixth largest media corporation in the UK.
• The company was founded as Future Publishing in Somerton,
Somerset in 1985.
• They’re a very innovative company. For example, they were the first
company to include free software in their magazines.
They own many different magazine companies. Most notably: Total
Guitar, Total Film and EDGE.
6. TWO SPECIFIC PUBLICATIONS
This time, both
magazines focus on
different genres (one
being music and the other
being film). However, both
are targeted at mature
readers. I know this as
both have the word ‘Total’
as a name- so they link-but
both are smartly laid
out, and don’t appear to
be full of gossip (and less
mature readers usually
want to find out gossip).
