1. What kind of media institution might
distribute your media product and why?

2. My Media Product
My media product is my magazine.
My magazine is a Pop music
magazine aimed at an 11-15 year
old female target audience. I have
developed my magazine and
created a cover page, contents page
and double page spread.
3. What institution?
Another media institution could be
The Bauer Publishing Group. These
produce magazines such as More,
Grazia and Pregnancy and Birth
magazine.
Bauer produce a wide variety of
magazines for many different
audiences and consumers.
4. Why Bauer?
Bauer already produces many music
magazines such as Kerrang! Q, and Empire.
However if they sold my magazine they
would be offering a different genre of
magazine to a different target audience to
what they usually offer. There is a gap in
their market, and my magazine could fill
that gap as my target audience is very
different to Kerrang! And Q’s.
Offering something different would broaden
their varieties of audience groups they aim
their magazines at. Making it a good
distribution company for my magazine.
5. Another Media institution
Another media institution for producing
and distributing my magazine could
be Egmont UK. They are a children's
magazine and book producing
company that began in 1878. They
sell approximately 25 million books
and 12 million magazines every year
in the UK.
6. Why Egmont UK?
I think Egmont UK would be a good
company to produce and distribute
my magazine because they specialise
in making magazines for children and
young adults. They already make
magazines such as We Love Pop
magazine which means they already
have experience in creating
magazines for my target audience.
7. I think both of these magazine
publishers and distributors would
be good for my magazine. Egmont
UK has experience and an
audience for my magazine genre
already, Bauer on the other hand
needs a magazine like mine to
close the gap in their portfolio as
they don’t sell a magazine like
mine making it different to usual.
