Bauer Media Group is a large European media company that owns over 600 magazines, 400 digital products, and 50 radio and TV stations across 17 countries. It has an employee base of 11,000 across these countries. While it has many established brands that attract broad audiences, there is still a gap in the market for an indie music magazine. Indie music appeals particularly to younger audiences, who Bauer's magazines already attract. Therefore, Bauer Media Group would be a suitable publisher for an indie magazine.

so it is a huge doubt that this
company will ever obtain a niche
audience due to its large
following. This could be a negative
point as it doesn’t necessarily aim
to please fans of a certain genre.
4. The TA of Bauer products tends to be the
younger generation so I would have to ensure
that my magazine houses characteristics that
would appeal to a younger person to have them
buy my magazine and for it to actually succeed
on the market. My magazine certainly appeals to
a young target audience as it is cheap as young
people tend to earn a lower income, it also has a
young cover star which will heavily appeal to a
young TA.
5. There is also a gap in the market for
Bauer Media as despite the many
products they distribute, they do not
publish an Indie magazine so this would
be ideal for the company to attain a
larger audience and to also earn more
money and business, also due to their
products being distributed in so many
different countries it highly benefits trade
and it also gives Indie music a higher
reputation as it is certainly a rather
hidden genre of music which is yet to
come out of its shell.
6. Despite the fact it isn't a very popular genre
of music in the charts, it is a very modern
genre of which young people try to express
themselves through and try to show off their
uniqueness, this is another reason why Bauer
should embrace it and make it bigger,
because an Indie magazine would hit the
ground running as there are so many fans of
Indie that would be more than willing to
purchase a magazine of that genre published
by one of the largest media companies in the
world.
7. Prometheus Global Media is a New
York City-based B2B media
company. The company was formed
in December 2009, when Nielsen
Company sold its entertainment
and media division to a private
equity-backed group led by Pluribus
Capital Management and
Guggenheim Partners. Guggenheim
acquired Pluribus's stake in the
company in January 2013, giving it
full ownership under the division of
Guggenheim Digital Media.
8. Prometheus global media is
headquartered in New York and
Chicago and serves clients from
more than 25 offices in 9 countries.
Both Pluribus and Guggenheim have
strong and demonstrated track
records of successfully managing
investments in a variety of
companies.

a number of major
entertainment industry trade
publications and their associated
digital properties, including
Adweek, Backstage, Billboard,
Film Journal International, and
The Hollywood Reporter.
10. The TA of Prometheus global media is very
mixed due to their varied product and
chained companies, Billboard has a much
younger following which would be ideal for
my magazine as it is highly attractive to a
younger TA however, the Hollywood reporter
has a much older TA meaning my magazine
wouldn’t really appeal to them meaning my
magazine isn’t being purchased and
Prometheus are losing business.
11. There is also a gap in the market
as Prometheus do not publish
an Indie magazine so releasing
an Indie magazine would attract
fans of Indie music which is
growing heavily obviously
bringing good business in for
Prometheus, also Prometheus
have more Niche audience so it
could be more directly aimed at
young Indie fans than just young
people in general who like
music.
12. After researching these two institutions I think that the
best company to publish my magazine would be Bauer
Media, it has a worldwide audience, it introduces people
to Indie music which is developing a large audience quite
quickly, I think despite the fact a niche audience won’t be
directed, Bauer attracts a huge amount of customers, this
may not completely benefit the Indie genre however, it is
a worldwide company compared to Prometheus Global
Media which mainly has an American audience (where
Indie hasn’t really broken through yet). Also due to my
young cover star it attracts a young TA and that is the
same TA that is mainly attained by Bauer media’s
products.
