Q2 evalutation
1. Q2 HOW DOES YOUR MEDIA
PRODUCT REPRESENT
PARTICULAR SOCIAL GROUPS?
2. The social group I have represented are
similar to my target audience because I
want them to be able to relate to what
they are reading into. When creating my
magazine I tried to make sure it appeals
to both genders by using gender neural
colours and styles. Also when
researching for codes and conventions I
noticed that they were aimed at British
people of both genders. However
looking back at my magazine it looks
more female dominant as my images
where only used by the same person,
but this can easily be replaced with
some more added male images.
3. SHOT TYPES
When taking photos of my model I wanted to have both
direct mode of address and indirect mode of address
as I noticed this doesn’t always follow codes and
conventions, however this is why it makes my
magazine unique.
By the use of direct mode of address easily forms a
connection with the reader which can appear to make it
seem more inviting, I ensured I used this technique on
the front cover, as I felt this was important when
attracting an audience.
I used indirect mode of address because stereotypically
my target audience (younger adults) tend to pose
themselves, so I wanted to make the photos relatable
to them.
I wanted my photos to mainly consist of medium shots
which is what I achieved because this enables the
audience to notice their facial expressions and body
language more clearly.
4. FRONT COVER
When coming up with my front cover, I felt it
was a good idea to use a young female model
to reach my intended target audience of
young people. The mise-en-scene used was
very basic as I wanted a plain background to
emphasis the main image drawing attention to
the readers. The main image is a stereotypical
representation of a girly girl as she is wearing
a skirt, smiling with long hair.
5. LAYOUT
When creating my layout, I previously
followed my mock up idea which was
having two images side by side, followed
by text underneath. I felt that this layout
was effective and organised, as it is easy
to follow and read.
I used bold numbers so the readers are
able to allocate the page numbers
accordingly and featuring a range of
interests which may appeal to different
types of peoples interest (cognitive
needs).
I chose to place the social media links at
the bottom, as I felt they’re not the most
important feature on the page, however
their the use of their bright individual
logos, may draw the readers attention.
6. MY IDEOLOGY
Once having completed my final production, I found that the reception theory is
significantly important, as I want my audience to be able to relate to the artist
within the magazine which can be easily achieved by the artist’s age and
interests. This ensures that the reader is attracted to the magazine by having
relations and making them what to read more of what's inside which may create
regular readers.
