Target audience
 The target audience I chose for my magazine:
 -Both male and female
 -Teenagers/Young adults (15-25 year olds)
 Fans of chart music
 Have popular/up to date music based interests
FRONT COVER –
ATTRACTING THE AUDIENCE
• When creating my front cover, I knew
I wanted to stick to a plain cover, with
limited information on there because
following some conventions of
Billboard magazine, I felt this would
be effective as it enables readers to
become intrigued of what’s inside.
• The image appeals to both genders
as the artist is dressed feminine,
however in gender neutral colours.
• By having a direct mode of address
on a front cover, allows the reader to
immediately form a connection,
drawing them inside the magazine.
I attracted my audience by using the
colours contrasted within the masthead
and main image. I followed conventions
of billboard magazine by adding colour
to my logo, however matching this with
the artist. By using this contrasts
makes the audience think it looks
professional and appealing. I used the
red colour scheme throughout my
production by lightening the red to a
light pink which may have made it
seem more female based, however that
wasn’t my intentions as the colours
used are both gender neutral.
As shown, I stuck to a simple, basic
layout as followed in many
conventions of magazines such as
billboard. As billboard is aimed at both
genders and is all round similar to my
magazine, I thought it would be helpful
by styling it in a similar way but not
noticeably the same. Looking back the
use of the light pink looks as if its more
female dominated, especially with the
use of female photos taken, but this
would still be effective if a mixture of
both genders were used and hopefully
hasn’t affected my target audience.
The picture of the CDS is used to
emphaise the music theme as well as
using a festival photo.
The double page spread has an
image half devoted to it with a mid
shot, as I wanted full attention and
awareness of the artist herself.
