2. WHAT KIND OF MEDIA INSTITUTION
MIGHT DISTRIBUTE YOUR MEDIA AND
WHY?
3.
4. BAUER MEDIA GROUP
Bauer Media Group is a privately owns publishing group that has 300+
products such as TV stations, radio shows, which also includes other
online products and services. Bauer’s most popular music magazine
include Q and Kerrang., who coincidentally also have a young adult target
audience much like my own product. With Bauer circulation over 38
million magazines per week, this would definitely be a huge asset if they
were to distribute my music magazine. My product may also be able to fill
a genre gap in the range of magazines they have to offer. Seen as Kerrang
is a rock magazine which is a completely different genre to my own. This
is beneficial when it comes to marketing because there will not be any
competition within the publishing group, also making mine unique to
Bauer.
5. HARRIS PRODUCTIONS
Harris Publications have a number of benefits from having them distribute
my product, including the fact that this institution already distributes over
10 other music magazines, so it is obviously a successful magazine
distributor to have this many magazines in their company. This also gives
them the knowledge of marketing different genres and the best
marketing strategies to magazines with similar target audiences to my
own, allowing the best possible outcome in sales and interest. In addition
to this, Harris is one of the largest distributors in the US , selling over
250,000+ copies of their magazines per month, as well as having a large
sum of money pumped into production of these. The fact that the US is
very large country means my magazine has the opportunity to be
distributed on a much wider scale and reaching a bigger audience.
Among these reason, the capability to fund magazines is why they could
6. ONLINE DISTRIBUTION
Social media and the internet now play a major role in distribution for
magazines, and continue to become bigger the more time goes on. It now
only takes a click of a button to reach almost anyone in the world and the
majority of the population have some kind of source to the internet. I
think online would be a good platform for my magazine considering its
target audience. Social media and the internet is always appealing to
teenager/young adults and are prime users of this type of distribution.
This way my product can be easily reached and this can also distribute my
product quicker instead of having to print it out and send it out to stores.
Big magazines also have an online fanbase, such as Billboard and Rolling
Stones. So I think creating a website that everyone could reach or going
to an existing website and selling my product on there is a good idea, and
this can help build up the popularity of my magazine.
