7. CHART MUSIC GENRE
When opting for chart music, I decided to
create my magazine so it was very gender
neutral by using colours such as red, black and
white. Also using a female artist would be
enticing to both genders and using the font,
style and colours would make it gender neutral.

used which draws the
readers attention. (common

revolving around the artist –
makes it easier for reader to
allocate information
(cognitive needs).
- Using columns side by
side makes the layout look
professional and organised.
13. SOCIAL MEDIA LINKS
Having my target audience
as young adults of both
genders made sense if I
created social media links
as the younger generation
are more stereotypically
using social media
nowadays. Having a social
media is a fast way of
sending updates to readers
enticing them to buy more
magazines.
15. LAYOUT
I chose to have an one page
image and the other side
containing text. I used this
technique to ensure the image
was the most important part of
the page and made it eye
catching.
I used simple columns to make it
easier for the reader to follow.
16. IMAGE
-I used a mid shot to use
in my double page
spread, and when
researching other
magazines I found this to
be a common
conventions a lot of
magazines used.
- The prop of the flower
was used to represent
the artist’s individuality
and girlyness she wants
to portray.
17. COLUMNS
- I chose to do my text as
an interview because I
wanted to draw in the
fans of the artist as they
may be attracted to
what that artist has to
offer.
- The use of the drop cap
was a common
convention when
researching, I felt it was
eye-catching and
elegant so I chose to
use it.
- I also chose to write in
columns as this is a
common convention
used because it makes
it easier to read and
more organised.
18. ARTISTS NAME
- The Artist’s name takes up
about 1/3 of the page
which I used to make it
eye-catching and stand
out.
- The font used was to
match the artist’s elegancy
by making it look feminine
not to attract just females
but both genders still.
