Who would be the audience for your
media product?
&
How did you attract/address your
audience?
The target audience for my magazine is:
-16-30 year olds
-Female
-Interested in pop and R&B music
Throughout the production of my construction I have been in contact with my
target audience through the use of my focus group, which has provided me with
useful feedback in order to help me please my target audience with this music
magazine.
The target audience for my magazine consists of females only. I attempted to
appeal to this gender by the use of specific colours typical of the female gender
such as pinks and pastel colours along with greys, as I wanted to also create a
mature yet delicate feminine style in contrast to the typical pinks and purples
used in a female magazine for this may have indicated my magazine was
toward a younger target audience.
I also included reception theory to attract my target audience, so that my
audience can specifically relate to the people featuring in the magazine, which
creates personal relationships leading on to a stable and loyal fan base.
I made my front cover image striking and chose
the outfit colour on purpose so that it would
stand out amongst other possible magazines. It
also could be seen to the target audience as
empowering to them as she is not being
objectified in any way, she is been made the
subject.
I used various features and pull quotes to
attract the target audience as the create
hermeneutic questions which entice the reader.
The colours used are eye catching in order to
draw the audiences eye to purchasing the
magazine. Words such as “WIN!” make the
reader drawn toward the magazine even more
so as they could possibly receive something
more from this purchase.
A technique I included to attract my target
audience is allowing them to engage with
the magazine content, E.g. by using social
media links to connect it even more so with
the target age group of my magazine.
The layout of the page enables the reader
to easily find their way about the magazine,
therefore attracting the younger of the
members to my target audience, along with
the mature structure and design to the
page attracting the older members too.
To attract the target audience I included many quote s
from the artist used to pull readers toward the content
on the double page spread, and it creates hermeneutic
questions which also makes the readers want to read
the article.
I mentioned the artists name in the right hand corner in
a bolder capitalised text so that it is eye catching and
appealing to the reader and catching their eye.
I again purposefully used direct mode of address in the
singular image placed on the left page, so this creates
direct mode of address to make a personal relationship
between themselves and the inspirational artist.
