2. In my magazine social groups I
have represented are white
young adults from the UK,
particularly females this is similar
to my target audience and the
people I used in my focus group
as I wanted them to be able to
relate to the magazine.I have
only used female figures in my
magazine as I wanted the
magazine to be mainly aimed at
females and for females to be the
subjects of the magazine and not
seen as objects in this particular
magazine. I wanted the magazine
to appeal to both genders but it
is more aimed towards young
women breaking some codes and
convention. The people I used in
my magazine are also people of
the ages of my target audience I
did this on purpose so it may
appeal to my target audience
more.
3. Shot types
• Throughout my magazine and during taking the photos for
my images. I ensured that my models had continuous eye
contact with the camera for all but one of my shots for
variation. This is so the audience create a personal
relationship with them and the artist (uses and grats) I chose
to make females the subject of the magazine (specifically
not the object) which will attract female readers as the
images reflect female empowerment.
• I made sure the images of the models where the main focus
on the page by using mid shits establishing there importance. On
the front cover and the double page spread the image takes up
the majority of the page allowing the audience to create a
personal relationship with them and relate to them.
4. On my double page spread as well as my front cover I have presented a white british
Female of the same age as my target audience and focus group. She has a natural
And passive expression on her face and is using direct mode of address so she can be
Seen as the subject and not the object, Although her pose with her hand is not passive
And makes the picture slightly seductive but not overly so. I have styled her in casual
Clothing ( plain grey top and jeans)to give the image a simplistic mise en scene .
The models plain and natural clothing are seen as being
Fashionable by the particular target audience I am aiming at. No
Props are used in any of the shots I have taken as I wanted to
Represent my target audience positvely and didn’t want to
Involve any props that may be stereotypical to teenagers and
Portray them badly. The expression she is using and her pose
Could be pluralistic of teenage girls and presents her as a
Positive role model for the target audience.
The only image used without direct mode of address is in the top right hand corner
Of the contents page.
5. Layout
The structure is organised and clear so that the audience
Can easily find things on the page and navigate other things
In the magazine. Young adults are stereotypically not as
Attentive as adults and lose focus quickly so I made sure
That everything on the page was clearly set out so nothing can
Be missed. The layout represents my young adult audience
As it is image heavy and I avoided using to much text as this
Would stereotypically appeal more to a more mature audience.
I tried to avoid crowding of images, making the contents page
Seem stylised and keeps a professional look
6. Reception Theory Ideology
In my final production the reception theory is very important due to the fact I want my
target audience to relate with the artists in the magazine article.I want the audience
to get the preferred reading out of the text by trying to create a personal relationship
Between the artist and the audience, and trying to possibly create a fan base for the
magazine. I told the artist to model in confident poses and mid shots were taken to
gain direct mode of address. The informal , conversational feel of the text continues to
relate to the target audience and appeals to them wanting to read the whole
magazine.
