1) The author began production of their magazine front cover by coming up with the idea of using dark borders to complement the orange header. They used InDesign to create a grid to help layout and measure images.
2) Text was added to an orange box on the front cover for emphasis. An object was also added that reflects the magazine's topic.
3) Adjustments to the front cover included adding placeholder text to an object and a frame for a picture. A tag was also added informing readers of a free poster.
2. Process
Today I have begun the production of the front cover of my magazine. It took me while to begin the production of my
front cover as I was struggling to come up with an idea of how I was going to create it. However, I soon came up with
the idea of the dark borders which complement the orange in the header well. I wished to line up the images on my
front cover, so I used InDesign to get a 7x5 grid which I then used the ruler tool in Photoshop to replicate that grid.
This helped me measure the objects I wanted to place on my front cover and also made the poster look more
professional. I wanted to place text on the front cover and thought that I would make a box which stands out to the
reader with the orange colour.
3. Process
I later added text to the orange box that I made. I originally had all of the new text be the same
font size and colour but that didn’t stand out. I then chose to make the “including” larger than
the rest of the text and also made it another colour which will grab your attention. I then added
an object which reflects the main image and what will be talked about in the magazine. This
object will also contain writing which will contain a small amount of information about this
subject. Overall I am feeling rather confident about my front cover so far.
4. Process
Today I have mainly been working on practicing
to draw the characters that I wish to include in
my magazine. Although I have mainly been
focusing on this, I have also made some
adjustments and additions to my front cover. The
first thing that I added was some text to the
object. This is just place holder text as I am still
thinking what to write on it. Another thing that I
added today was a frame for a picture in the
bottom right of the page. This will include one of
the pictures that I make of “frost”. The last thing
that I added today was a tag at the top left which
informs the reader of a free poster inside the
magazine. I wish to add a small preview of the
poster next to this text but I will have to wait
until I have made the posters to do so. Overall I
feel like my front cover is coming along nicely
and I think I can still add more to it so that it will
look even better.
5. Process
Today I have been working on making the
characters that I wish to use for a show I
will be talking about in my magazine. I
have been using a picture of the character I
wish to make as a base to recreate. I have
been making this character on Photoshop
as I tried illustrator to make it but it looked
awful. I have been making this for the
majority of the day as it has taken a while
to get all of the lines, colours and designs
right. I think that the character is looking
quite good so far so I am feeling quite good
about it.
6. Process
Today I have finished making the first
character which I wish to use in my double
page spreads. I think that the character has
come out well and the shading works well
enough and looks good. Now that I have
finished making this character, I have
moved on to the next character that I wish
to create. I have began outlining the
character which is currently on my front
cover. This will be the character that I wish
to recreate and use on my front cover.
