2. Front Cover
When I was creating this front cover I wanted to have a design which
was fragmented and had picture of different influential and famous
music artists. Only after creating this design have I realised that it is
just too problematic to make due to it being difficult to find a photo
of a person which will fit in to their section that I have created. It is
also problematic due to the many changes in colour which can make
the font no longer stand out and could also make it hard to read.
While creating this front cover I also added an image of an old Bob
Dylan album in the bottom left. This is to signify that this is an old
magazine from the 1960’s and it is to also try to promote the album
which is being shown. By making this experiment I have learned that
making a fragmented design creates too many problems and that I
should not make one for my final product. I have also learned that I
need to make my masthead stand out more than minor pieces of
text on the rest of the front cover.
3. Double Page Spread
When creating this double page spread I wanted to make
it so there was a large picture of the person that was
going to be written about on the left hand side. This was
so that the reader knew both who I was talking about and
what they looked like so that they might recognise them
if they don’t know the name of the artist. By doing this I
learned that If I enlarged the image to the point of some
of it being out of the borders of the page, it will take up
the entire page and look good. I also placed some images
around the text part of the double page spread which
relate to the artist the article would be about. This helped
me learn how to make text wrap around an image when
placed in the way of the text. This experiment gave me
many ideas for how I want to make my final double page
spread, so this has helped me a lot.
4. Website
When creating my website I decided to
have a selection of buttons which, when
clicked on, move to a section a scrolling
page which the button corresponds to. An
example being when I click on the listen
button it takes me to the section associated
with music.
I made the section of this website about
the music contain the best known albums
that have been made by Bob Dylan and also
his newest album as his website would
probably be trying to promote it as much as
they can. I have learned that this way of
creating a website may look good for a
music artist but it probably won’t work for a
magazine.
