North Delta Track
Address: 11447 82 Ave, Delta, BC
V4C 5J6
Sector ~ Public
The new and improved North Delta
Track is in the Public sector as it can
“provide those opportunities deemed
valuable by society” (Lunn, 2021, p.
3). It is good for the public, whether
indirectly or directly, the Track is good
for society as it does a great job at
having a very accessible spot for
children or adults to get physical
activity in.
Spsc 2210
Relation
The North Delta Track relates to Spsc 2210 as the track
provides the chance for all members of the society access to
recreational activity. The track includes components such as
an eight-lane, 400 metre rubberized track surface, as well as
a natural turf infield on the inside of the track, allowing for
soccer, football or rugby games to be played as well. This
allows for many members of the society to go and enjoy their
recreation in whichever fashion they may choose is best
suitable for them.
Sungod Recreation Centre
Address: 7815 112 St, Delta, BC
V4C 4V9R
Sector ~ Public
Sungod Recreation Centre is the main place for
younger students to enjoy their physical activity.
The recreation centre includes multiple pools that
range in size and depth, as well as a fully filled
workout gym and a large basketball court. It is in
the Public sector as the recreation centre can “play
a significant role in the creation of cohesive and
quality communities” (Lunn, 2021, p. 5), as it is a
place for members of the community to come
together and enjoy a nice time together. I know
personally I have made many friends from other
schools in Delta that I made while playing against
them on the basketball court. It is a spot in which
many students from Delta come together to enjoy a
friendly, social and competitive environment.
Spsc 2210
Relation
• Sungod Recreation Centre relates to Spsc 2210 as it uses
recreation in different forms to “continually reinforce
values and ideals of establishing and maintaining a healthy
lifestyle to the user” (Lunn, 2021, p. 3). Sungod also does
a great job at trying to “provide opportunities for recreation
to disadvantaged clients” (Lunn, 2021, p. 3). They often
have promotions or discounts for students to encourage
further physical activity amongst the youth. As well, they
have become fully accessible to wheelchair members as
they have included multiple tools in order to allow for
wheelchair members to have a much better and
comfortable experience.
Delview Secondary School
Address: 9111 116 St, Delta, BC V4C
5W8
Sector ~ Public
Delview Secondary School is a public high
school for students in grades 8-12 in North
Delta. It has two feeder schools in Annieville
Elementary and Gibson Elementary, leading to
the high school having a population of around
850 students. The school is in the Public sector
as it “provides opportunities for both genders,
all age groups, all ethnic groups, and special
interest groups” (Lunn, 2021, p. 5). The school
also enhances the overall “quality of life and
well-being of citizens” (Lunn, 2021, p. 3) as the
school has multiple counsellors available for
consultation as well as weekly-monthly
activities that allows the students to enjoy and
participate in.
Spsc 2210
Relation
Delview Secondary School relates to Spsc 2210 as it provides the opportunity for students to explore
their own character through recreational activities such as different teams, clubs and activities, which
also include “Fitness, sport, age-related programs, events, arts, leadership” (Lunn, 2021, p. 3).
Delview has a very open and positive environment amongst all these recreational activities to
encourage student participation and development in each of the areas.
Delview also provides the opportunity for older students to become coaches in a sense as they take on
being the leaders of the school through their “leaders club”, in which they get grade 11 and 12 students
to create games, activities and events to help transition grade 8 students into their first year at the
school. They also allow for grade 12 students to coach the basketball team at either of the local
elementary schools in which they pass on their knowledge to the younger generation to try and
encourage further sport engagement and development, while being a responsible role model.
Delview can demonstrate the physical education component through their course system as it is a
required course for grade 8-10, then becoming optional in grade 11 and 12. These classes are great in
allowing continuation in physical activity, as well as developing students knowledge in a variety of
sports as well as activities such as CPR.
Cave Gym
Address: 8889 120 St, Delta, BC V4C
6R6
Sector ~ Private
Cave Gym is a local fitness centre that is in Delta, BC.
They are one of the fastest growing gyms in popularity
over the past 5 years, in which in 2020 they were
named the best gym in Delta. They are in the private
sector as this gym allows their members to have access
to their equipment through a monthly membership fee,
showing that they are quite “profit oriented” (Lunn,
2021, p.6). Their overall revenue comes strictly from
their membership fees, which are quite high due to the
demand of their gym as well as the consumer desire to
stay there. They have this high demand as they offer a
“unique service”, as they are the only 24-hour gym in
Delta.
As well, the gym does a great job at being “aware of
demographics” as they are ideally placed and far out
from the next gym, as well as it being very local for
most of its members. The gym is also great as it can
“recognize leisure and recreation trends” (Lunn, 2021,
p.8), as they noticed with the pandemic that many
people like to enter the gym at very early mornings or
very late nights, in which their 24-hour service was
proven to be ideal for many members.
Spsc 2210
Relation
This gym relates to Spsc 2210 as they are a recreation service which aims to give members of the
community a chance to improve their lifestyle through active movement. They do a great job at
allowing users the opportunity to participate in fitness through different methods as they offer certain
class lessons, as well as boxing lessons to allow members to find which physical activity is best for
them.
They also have personal training lessons which demonstrates the coaching aspect, in which the
trainers pass their knowledge along to the members to help further benefit and improve their lifestyle.
Many other gym members are very friendly as well as the staff and they are always open to help when
asked.
The gym also demonstrates physical education as being in the gym environment you learn a lot about
the body and how to work out properly to get the best results. Learning what days to hit certain
muscles, what angles to workout will be best results for muscles, how to stay safe when working out or
diet, being in a positive gym environment always has you learning to benefit yourself in your daily life in
the physical aspect.
Sunshine Woods Golf
Course
Address: 10646 64 Ave, Delta, BC
V4E 1C1
Sector ~ Private
Sunshine Woods Golf Course is a smaller looking 18-hole golf
course in Delta, BC. It is also paired up with a driving range
along with a putting area to practice your skills on the green. It
is in the private sector as they are not as profit oriented as
other golf courses may be. They rather “serve public goods of
some kind” (Lunn, 2021, p.6), as they provide family friendly
prices to allow for guests to enjoy a great time golfing for a
lowered price, while still trying to “Remain competitive and
affordable” (Lunn, 2021, p.8). This golf course is season
based as the “Demographic changes underlie significant
changes in the market for recreation and leisure” (Lunn, 2021,
p.7). This is as during the winter seasons they close as the
weather is usually quite cold and gloomy, reducing the
amount of people wanting to golf. However, when the sun
begins to peak out and the weather begins to become
warmer, they reopen up allowing for guests to enjoy their 18-
hole course or a more relaxed day on the driving range.
Spsc 2210
Relation
This golf course relates to Spsc 2210 as they allow for “Increased recreation
opportunities for residents” (Lunn, 2021, p.7). Many people often look for a
recreational activity to enjoy in the sun without having to overstrain themself,
in which golf is that option. It is a great option for older adults who may like
the low intensity as recreation is “fundamental human need for persons of all
ages” (Lunn, 2021, p.5).
Golf can also be physical education as it can be a great social event if you
decide to go with a group of friends, which could lead to an increased
competitive spirit. This plays in as recreation is “essential to a person’s
physical and social well-being and to overall quality of life” (Lunn, 2021, p.5) ,
in which golf targets both qualities.
Overall, golf is a great mental sport as it increases the thought process of
which club to use, which angle to hit, how much power as well as any
external factors that may come into play (Eg. Wind).
Scottsdale Lanes
Address: 12033 84 Ave, Surrey, BC
V3W 3N4
Sector ~ Private
Scottsdale Lane is the local bowling centre
and is on the line of North Delta. It is in the
Commercial Sector as the bowling centre
gives access to their lanes and equipment
“Provided for a cost” (Lunn, 2021, p.6). They
offer a “unique products and services”
(Lunn, 2021, p.8) as they are the only
bowling center local in North Delta and are
often a hot attraction to go to with friends on
a night out. The bowling alley disguises their
hospitality through their food and drink
services, which ultimately is charged at a
rate to bring in large profits.
Spsc 2210
Relation
Scottsdale Lanes relates to Spsc 2210 as during this pandemic, many
places to have activities were closed, so the bowling alley allows
people to have a place to enjoy during this pandemic in their small
groups. This recreational activity surprisingly requires a decent amount
of physical engagement and could often lead to people sweating due
to the continued stress placed on the body with each throw.
Bowling is also very accessible for older adults to enjoy which gives
them a place to enjoy in a safe fashion without having to worry as
recreation is “fundamental human need for persons of all ages” (Lunn,
2021, p.5).
North Delta Soccer Club
(NDFC)
Address: 7921 120th Street, Delta,
BC V4C 6P6
Sector ~ Non-Profit
North Delta FC (NDFC) is a newly adapted
organization that was created in 2020. It previously
stems from its parent's clubs Surdel Girls Soccer Club
and North Delta Soccer Club, in which they decided to
combine into the new and revamped NDFC.
This club is in the Non-Profit, voluntary sector as it is
“the sector in which the greatest number of leisure and
recreation organizations exist” (Lunn, 2021, p.10), in
which the label of being a recreation organization
applies.
This soccer club has ensured in its policy that they look
to “promote, develop and administer the game of
soccer at the club level” (North Delta FC, 2021). At
early ages of player participation, the club often has
to “rely on the efforts of members and volunteers for
sustained survival’ (Lunn, 2021, p.10).
Spsc 2210
Relation
This relates to Spsc 2210 as the organization must have coaches play
a major role in delivering their knowledge of the sport as well as deliver
structure to the younger players for them to be successful at the
recreational sport of soccer.
The club is able to give athletes the opportunity to stay engaged in the
sport and create friendships and bonds which shows the recreation
aspect as it is quite essential to a person’s physical and social well-
being and to overall quality of life” (Lunn, 2021, p. 5).
The club also does a great job at establishing a positive organizational
culture as they have developed separate code of conducts for the
players, parents and coach to agree too and follow to help them
“sustain now and into the future” (Lunn, 2021, p.10), giving the players
structure.
Delta Minor Ball Hockey
Association (DMBHA)
Address: 7825-112th Street, Delta,
BC V4C4V9
Sector ~ Non-Profit
Delta Minor Ball Hockey Association
(DMBHA) is an organization that is
focused on trying to “promote and
encourage good citizenship, develop ball
hockey skills and sportsmanship” of any
athlete who decides to join the
organization (DMBHA, 2021). This
organization is in the Non-profit, Voluntary
sector as the organization “focuses on
fundraisers” and “rely on members” for
them to function (Lunn, 2021, p.10). The
organization allocates any profits that are
made into use for sustaining the services
used as well as.
Spsc 2210
Relation
This organization relates to Spsc 2210 as the volunteers are given a
major task in stepping up as coaches and providing their knowledge,
positivity and leadership to their team. The coaching role is very
important as many players may not watch hockey as much, let alone
ball hockey, meaning that the coaches must put the kids into the right
position to succeed.
As well, the organization does a great job at bringing kids from the
community together in one environment that allows them to mix social
fun with physical activity engagement, one of the more important
reasons for recreation. They also want to get more youth engaged in
the community as they continue their mission to “establish, maintain,
conduct and promote among all the members of the Association and
others an active interest in amateur ball hockey” (DMBHA, 2021).
Hillside Boys and Girls
Club
Address: 11339 84 Ave, Delta, BC V4C
2L9
Boys and Girls Clubs Foundation of South
Coast BC is an organization that allows the
opportunity for kids who may feel out of place
at home and school, the chance to have a
“sense of belonging”, along with a “a sense of
success, and positive relationships” (BGC,
2021).
The organization can use a range of activities
that are focused on the main interests of the
kids along with activities that are proven to be
good for them physically and mentally.
This organization is in the Non-profit, Voluntary
sector as this organization service orientation
includes providing “Fitness, sport, age-related
programs, events, arts, leadership” (Lunn,
2021, p.9) to the members of the organization.
They also look for donations and fundraisers to
bring in money to sustain its services, along
with having volunteers come out to help.
Spsc 2210
Relation
This organization relates to Spsc 2210 as the organization promotes a
healthy lifestyle through physical activity to increase physical and
mental health. They look to allow younger children to have the
opportunity and space for personal growth in an environment in which
they feel comfortable and capable of doing so.
The organization gives kids who may not have access to certain
activities the chance to participate in recreational activities that also
allows for further personal growth, whether mental or physical. The
foundation does a great job at instilling a positive atmosphere and
gives the members a great chance at finding a recreational activity that
suits them the best.

  • 4. North Delta Track Address: 11447 82 Ave, Delta, BC V4C 5J6 Sector ~ Public The new and improved North Delta Track is in the Public sector as it can “provide those opportunities deemed valuable by society” (Lunn, 2021, p. 3). It is good for the public, whether indirectly or directly, the Track is good for society as it does a great job at having a very accessible spot for children or adults to get physical activity in.
  • 5. Spsc 2210 Relation The North Delta Track relates to Spsc 2210 as the track provides the chance for all members of the society access to recreational activity. The track includes components such as an eight-lane, 400 metre rubberized track surface, as well as a natural turf infield on the inside of the track, allowing for soccer, football or rugby games to be played as well. This allows for many members of the society to go and enjoy their recreation in whichever fashion they may choose is best suitable for them.
  • 6. Sungod Recreation Centre Address: 7815 112 St, Delta, BC V4C 4V9R Sector ~ Public Sungod Recreation Centre is the main place for younger students to enjoy their physical activity. The recreation centre includes multiple pools that range in size and depth, as well as a fully filled workout gym and a large basketball court. It is in the Public sector as the recreation centre can “play a significant role in the creation of cohesive and quality communities” (Lunn, 2021, p. 5), as it is a place for members of the community to come together and enjoy a nice time together. I know personally I have made many friends from other schools in Delta that I made while playing against them on the basketball court. It is a spot in which many students from Delta come together to enjoy a friendly, social and competitive environment.
  • 7. Spsc 2210 Relation • Sungod Recreation Centre relates to Spsc 2210 as it uses recreation in different forms to “continually reinforce values and ideals of establishing and maintaining a healthy lifestyle to the user” (Lunn, 2021, p. 3). Sungod also does a great job at trying to “provide opportunities for recreation to disadvantaged clients” (Lunn, 2021, p. 3). They often have promotions or discounts for students to encourage further physical activity amongst the youth. As well, they have become fully accessible to wheelchair members as they have included multiple tools in order to allow for wheelchair members to have a much better and comfortable experience.
  • 8. Delview Secondary School Address: 9111 116 St, Delta, BC V4C 5W8 Sector ~ Public Delview Secondary School is a public high school for students in grades 8-12 in North Delta. It has two feeder schools in Annieville Elementary and Gibson Elementary, leading to the high school having a population of around 850 students. The school is in the Public sector as it “provides opportunities for both genders, all age groups, all ethnic groups, and special interest groups” (Lunn, 2021, p. 5). The school also enhances the overall “quality of life and well-being of citizens” (Lunn, 2021, p. 3) as the school has multiple counsellors available for consultation as well as weekly-monthly activities that allows the students to enjoy and participate in.
  • 9. Spsc 2210 Relation Delview Secondary School relates to Spsc 2210 as it provides the opportunity for students to explore their own character through recreational activities such as different teams, clubs and activities, which also include “Fitness, sport, age-related programs, events, arts, leadership” (Lunn, 2021, p. 3). Delview has a very open and positive environment amongst all these recreational activities to encourage student participation and development in each of the areas. Delview also provides the opportunity for older students to become coaches in a sense as they take on being the leaders of the school through their “leaders club”, in which they get grade 11 and 12 students to create games, activities and events to help transition grade 8 students into their first year at the school. They also allow for grade 12 students to coach the basketball team at either of the local elementary schools in which they pass on their knowledge to the younger generation to try and encourage further sport engagement and development, while being a responsible role model. Delview can demonstrate the physical education component through their course system as it is a required course for grade 8-10, then becoming optional in grade 11 and 12. These classes are great in allowing continuation in physical activity, as well as developing students knowledge in a variety of sports as well as activities such as CPR.

  • 11. Cave Gym Address: 8889 120 St, Delta, BC V4C 6R6 Sector ~ Private Cave Gym is a local fitness centre that is in Delta, BC. They are one of the fastest growing gyms in popularity over the past 5 years, in which in 2020 they were named the best gym in Delta. They are in the private sector as this gym allows their members to have access to their equipment through a monthly membership fee, showing that they are quite “profit oriented” (Lunn, 2021, p.6). Their overall revenue comes strictly from their membership fees, which are quite high due to the demand of their gym as well as the consumer desire to stay there. They have this high demand as they offer a “unique service”, as they are the only 24-hour gym in Delta. As well, the gym does a great job at being “aware of demographics” as they are ideally placed and far out from the next gym, as well as it being very local for most of its members. The gym is also great as it can “recognize leisure and recreation trends” (Lunn, 2021, p.8), as they noticed with the pandemic that many people like to enter the gym at very early mornings or very late nights, in which their 24-hour service was proven to be ideal for many members.
  • 12. Spsc 2210 Relation This gym relates to Spsc 2210 as they are a recreation service which aims to give members of the community a chance to improve their lifestyle through active movement. They do a great job at allowing users the opportunity to participate in fitness through different methods as they offer certain class lessons, as well as boxing lessons to allow members to find which physical activity is best for them. They also have personal training lessons which demonstrates the coaching aspect, in which the trainers pass their knowledge along to the members to help further benefit and improve their lifestyle. Many other gym members are very friendly as well as the staff and they are always open to help when asked. The gym also demonstrates physical education as being in the gym environment you learn a lot about the body and how to work out properly to get the best results. Learning what days to hit certain muscles, what angles to workout will be best results for muscles, how to stay safe when working out or diet, being in a positive gym environment always has you learning to benefit yourself in your daily life in the physical aspect.
  • 13. Sunshine Woods Golf Course Address: 10646 64 Ave, Delta, BC V4E 1C1 Sector ~ Private Sunshine Woods Golf Course is a smaller looking 18-hole golf course in Delta, BC. It is also paired up with a driving range along with a putting area to practice your skills on the green. It is in the private sector as they are not as profit oriented as other golf courses may be. They rather “serve public goods of some kind” (Lunn, 2021, p.6), as they provide family friendly prices to allow for guests to enjoy a great time golfing for a lowered price, while still trying to “Remain competitive and affordable” (Lunn, 2021, p.8). This golf course is season based as the “Demographic changes underlie significant changes in the market for recreation and leisure” (Lunn, 2021, p.7). This is as during the winter seasons they close as the weather is usually quite cold and gloomy, reducing the amount of people wanting to golf. However, when the sun begins to peak out and the weather begins to become warmer, they reopen up allowing for guests to enjoy their 18- hole course or a more relaxed day on the driving range.
  • 14. Spsc 2210 Relation This golf course relates to Spsc 2210 as they allow for “Increased recreation opportunities for residents” (Lunn, 2021, p.7). Many people often look for a recreational activity to enjoy in the sun without having to overstrain themself, in which golf is that option. It is a great option for older adults who may like the low intensity as recreation is “fundamental human need for persons of all ages” (Lunn, 2021, p.5). Golf can also be physical education as it can be a great social event if you decide to go with a group of friends, which could lead to an increased competitive spirit. This plays in as recreation is “essential to a person’s physical and social well-being and to overall quality of life” (Lunn, 2021, p.5) , in which golf targets both qualities. Overall, golf is a great mental sport as it increases the thought process of which club to use, which angle to hit, how much power as well as any external factors that may come into play (Eg. Wind).
  • 15. Scottsdale Lanes Address: 12033 84 Ave, Surrey, BC V3W 3N4 Sector ~ Private Scottsdale Lane is the local bowling centre and is on the line of North Delta. It is in the Commercial Sector as the bowling centre gives access to their lanes and equipment “Provided for a cost” (Lunn, 2021, p.6). They offer a “unique products and services” (Lunn, 2021, p.8) as they are the only bowling center local in North Delta and are often a hot attraction to go to with friends on a night out. The bowling alley disguises their hospitality through their food and drink services, which ultimately is charged at a rate to bring in large profits.
  • 16. Spsc 2210 Relation Scottsdale Lanes relates to Spsc 2210 as during this pandemic, many places to have activities were closed, so the bowling alley allows people to have a place to enjoy during this pandemic in their small groups. This recreational activity surprisingly requires a decent amount of physical engagement and could often lead to people sweating due to the continued stress placed on the body with each throw. Bowling is also very accessible for older adults to enjoy which gives them a place to enjoy in a safe fashion without having to worry as recreation is “fundamental human need for persons of all ages” (Lunn, 2021, p.5).

  • 18. North Delta Soccer Club (NDFC) Address: 7921 120th Street, Delta, BC V4C 6P6 Sector ~ Non-Profit North Delta FC (NDFC) is a newly adapted organization that was created in 2020. It previously stems from its parent's clubs Surdel Girls Soccer Club and North Delta Soccer Club, in which they decided to combine into the new and revamped NDFC. This club is in the Non-Profit, voluntary sector as it is “the sector in which the greatest number of leisure and recreation organizations exist” (Lunn, 2021, p.10), in which the label of being a recreation organization applies. This soccer club has ensured in its policy that they look to “promote, develop and administer the game of soccer at the club level” (North Delta FC, 2021). At early ages of player participation, the club often has to “rely on the efforts of members and volunteers for sustained survival’ (Lunn, 2021, p.10).
  • 19. Spsc 2210 Relation This relates to Spsc 2210 as the organization must have coaches play a major role in delivering their knowledge of the sport as well as deliver structure to the younger players for them to be successful at the recreational sport of soccer. The club is able to give athletes the opportunity to stay engaged in the sport and create friendships and bonds which shows the recreation aspect as it is quite essential to a person’s physical and social well- being and to overall quality of life” (Lunn, 2021, p. 5). The club also does a great job at establishing a positive organizational culture as they have developed separate code of conducts for the players, parents and coach to agree too and follow to help them “sustain now and into the future” (Lunn, 2021, p.10), giving the players structure.
  • 20. Delta Minor Ball Hockey Association (DMBHA) Address: 7825-112th Street, Delta, BC V4C4V9 Sector ~ Non-Profit Delta Minor Ball Hockey Association (DMBHA) is an organization that is focused on trying to “promote and encourage good citizenship, develop ball hockey skills and sportsmanship” of any athlete who decides to join the organization (DMBHA, 2021). This organization is in the Non-profit, Voluntary sector as the organization “focuses on fundraisers” and “rely on members” for them to function (Lunn, 2021, p.10). The organization allocates any profits that are made into use for sustaining the services used as well as.
  • 21. Spsc 2210 Relation This organization relates to Spsc 2210 as the volunteers are given a major task in stepping up as coaches and providing their knowledge, positivity and leadership to their team. The coaching role is very important as many players may not watch hockey as much, let alone ball hockey, meaning that the coaches must put the kids into the right position to succeed. As well, the organization does a great job at bringing kids from the community together in one environment that allows them to mix social fun with physical activity engagement, one of the more important reasons for recreation. They also want to get more youth engaged in the community as they continue their mission to “establish, maintain, conduct and promote among all the members of the Association and others an active interest in amateur ball hockey” (DMBHA, 2021).
  • 22. Hillside Boys and Girls Club Address: 11339 84 Ave, Delta, BC V4C 2L9 Boys and Girls Clubs Foundation of South Coast BC is an organization that allows the opportunity for kids who may feel out of place at home and school, the chance to have a “sense of belonging”, along with a “a sense of success, and positive relationships” (BGC, 2021). The organization can use a range of activities that are focused on the main interests of the kids along with activities that are proven to be good for them physically and mentally. This organization is in the Non-profit, Voluntary sector as this organization service orientation includes providing “Fitness, sport, age-related programs, events, arts, leadership” (Lunn, 2021, p.9) to the members of the organization. They also look for donations and fundraisers to bring in money to sustain its services, along with having volunteers come out to help.
  • 23. Spsc 2210 Relation This organization relates to Spsc 2210 as the organization promotes a healthy lifestyle through physical activity to increase physical and mental health. They look to allow younger children to have the opportunity and space for personal growth in an environment in which they feel comfortable and capable of doing so. The organization gives kids who may not have access to certain activities the chance to participate in recreational activities that also allows for further personal growth, whether mental or physical. The foundation does a great job at instilling a positive atmosphere and gives the members a great chance at finding a recreational activity that suits them the best.
