Public- Outdoor pool is a pool that is seasonally
open to the general public and offers “fitness,
sport and age related programs” (Lunn, 2022 p.3).

3. 2210 connection: Recreation- The outdoor pool is a recreation example
because it offers “affordable and quality recreation programs” (Lunn,
2022 p.5). The outdoor pool is a seasonal pool that offers affordable
public swim as well as lessons for all members of the community. Public
swim on weekdays is only $3 and they offer free public swim on
weekends.

Sungod Recreation Center

Public- The Sungod Recreation Center
provides services such as “Fitness, sport,
age-related programs, events, arts,
leadership” to the general public, which are
seen as good for society(Lunn, 2022 p.3). This is a photo of Sungod recreation center

5. 2210 connection: Coaching- Sungod recreation center is an example of
coaching because it has a variety of different services to offer such as
swimming lessons, a hockey arena for hockey practice and skating lessons
and a gymnasium where various sports and activities take place. The
NCCP workbook discusses 3 streams of coaching, The coaches who coach
at Sungod are mainly in the community sport stream. This stream is
designed to help participants learn and play for fun.

Sands Secondary school

Public- Sands Secondary school is a
high school that is “accessible” and
open to the general public which is
“usually free or fees are subsidized;
necessary for society” (Lunn, 2022 p.3). This is a photo of the outside of Sands Secondary
School (“Go Delta,” n.d.).
7. 2210 connection: Physical Ed- Sands Secondary school is an example of
physical education because the high school provides students with PE
classes from grade 8-12, with PE being required from grade 8-10 and then
optional from grade 11-12. Sands Secondary provides PE classes to
students where “learners [are] exposed to a variety of movement forms
like games, gymnastics, and dance that nurture[s] the development of the
whole child: physical, social, and cognitive” (Mandigo 2012 as cited by
Lunn, 2022 p.7).

Immaculate conception school

Commercial- immaculate conception is a
private elementary school “offered to
anyone who can afford the services”
and is based on the “consumers desire”
to attend (Lunn, 2022 p.6).

9. 2210 connection: Physical education- Immaculate conception
elementary school is an example of physical education because they
provide PE classes to the students from kindergarten- grade 7. The
students are exposed to a variety of different movements and games and
are “actively engaged in making decisions about how they would solve
movement problems” during class (Lunn, 2022 p.7). The students are at
the elementary level and many of them are still learning new games and
movements, working on developing their skills through a more student
centered approach.

yoga studio that offers a number of
different classes. They provide
specialized services for a cost and offer

11. 2210 connection: Oxygen yoga is an example of coaching because they
have a variety of instructors who coach participants during different
classes. The instructors would fall under the community sport stream
according to the NCCP manual because they are mostly working with
adults or youth who are participating for their own personal enjoyment.
The community stream is designed for participants to learn and have fun.

Cravings coffee shop

coffee shop that provides coffee
and other beverages and food for a
cost and is “profit oriented”

13. 2210 connection: Recreation- Cravings coffee is a recreation example
because it is a public space where individuals can spend their “free time”
Lunn, 2022 p.7), meeting with friends, relaxing, relieving boredom etc,
whatever the reason is “recreation is a fundamental human need for
persons of all ages and is essential to a person's physical and social
well-being and to overall quality of life” (Lunn, 2022 p.5).
14. Volunteer Service Sector
Boys & Girls club

Volunteer- The boys and girls club is a
“community sports organization” that provides
services such as “fitness, sport, age related programs,
events, arts, leadership” which are considered good
for the community (Lunn, 2022 p.9).

15. 2210 connection: Physical Ed- The boys and girls club is an example of
physical education because they provide youth with a number of different
programs to get active and learn more about a healthy lifestyle. The kids
learn about different sports and ways to be active as well as nutrition and
other healthy choices. The youth at the boys and girls club are “exposed to
a variety of movement forms like games, gymnastics, and dance that
nurture[s] the development of the whole child: physical, social, and
cognitive” (Mandigo 2012 as cited by Lunn, 2022 p.7).

Northside community church

Volunteer- Northside community
church is a church that is open to the

recreation example because they offer services to “special interest groups”
and “the partnership between volunteers and professionals is an integral
part of the recreation delivery system” (Lunn, 2022 p.5-6). Many people
enjoy volunteering at the church as well as coming to service every
Sunday where they get to visit with friends and family as well.

North Delta FC (NDFC) soccer club

Volunteer- NDFC is a “community sport organization”
that offers the opportunity for local community members
to play soccer for the club (Lunn, 2022 p. 9).

19. 2210 connection: Coaching- The North Delta FC soccer club (NDFC) is an
example of coaching because they have a number of coaches who volunteer
their time and work with a number of athletes to develop their skills. Some
of the coaches are under the community sport team and some are under the
competitive stream according to the NCCP manual. The club has a number
of programs that fall under different streams, for example the intro to soccer
program falls under the community stream as participants are very young
and it is all about the participants having fun and learning. They also have a
spring developmental league that is more competitive than the recreational
levels, which falls under the competitive stream where the focus is on
developing the players competitive abilities and skills.
