• Service Sector: Public, The reason why Burnsview Secondary
School is a public service sector is because to attend high school
in British Columbia you individually don’t pay direct fees to
attend. Instead, the high schools are funded through local
citizens taxes and government funds.
• SPSC 2210 Connection: Physical Education Is offered at this high
school from grade 8 to grade 12. From grades 10 to 12 there are
specialty physical education classes such as fit for life which is a
gym class that goes on field trips to the grouse grind, dog
mountain, and quarry rock.
4. Annieville Waterpark
• Address: 9150 112 St, Delta, BC
• Service Sector: Public because parks within the community
“promote health and well-being through recreation” (Lunn, 2021,
p. 4).
• SPSC 2210 Connection: This is an example of Recreation because
the waterpark is open for everyone to enjoy and is funded
through taxes and local government. Plus, when people use this
water park it promotes physical activity, friendships and
creativity which are all beneficial for good community health.
5. Sungod Recreation Centre
• Address: 7815 112 St, Delta, BC V4C 4V9
• Service Sector: Public because although you may have to pay for
a pass, all the facilities such as the pool, gym, and weight room
are there for everyone’s enjoyment.
• SPSC 2210 Connection: Recreation because this Centre is used
“To act as a catalyst for recreation development in the
community” (Lunn, 2021, p. 5). By having this recreation centre
which if free admission for people who are 18 and younger you
give them access to activities that promote healthy lifestyles
within the community.
7. Sunshine Woods Golf Center &
Driving Range
• Address: 10646 64 Ave, Delta, BC V4E 1C1
• Service Sector: This place is Commercial because you must pay
to be able to use its private facilities.
• SPSC 2210 Connection: This is Recreation because by being able
to golf it promotes healthy recreational activities for all ages.
Commercial services also Increase employment opportunities
(Lunn, 2021, p. 7). With increased employment the community
benefits from a higher income per household.
8. Sunshine Woods Tennis Club
• Address: 6748 Carncross Crescent, Delta, BC V4E 2L5
• Service Sector: Sunshine Woods Tennis Club is a Commercial
service because it is a private club. To be able to be apart of this
club you must pay membership fees.
• SPSC 2210 Connection: This tennis club connects Recreation to
our course content because it “increases recreation
opportunities for residents” (Lunn, 2021, p. 7). By having services
like this physical and social health aspects are increased. Plus,
there is an increase in mental health due to being part of a club
which gives a sense of being apart of something.
9. Cave Athletics

• Service Sector: Cave Athletics is a Commercial service because it
is a privately owned gym which requires memberships. By having
this private business in the community, it “attracts outside capital
(new businesses, new investors for existing businesses)” (Lunn,
2021, p. 7).
• SPSC2210 Connection: Cave Athletics represents a Recreation
connection to our course content. By having private gyms in your
local community, it increases jobs, potential business growth,
and gives opportunity for community members to use the
facilities which are often at high quality due to the company
being private.
11. North Delta Minor
Hockey Association
• Address: 102 - 7815 - 112th Street Delta, BC V4C
4V9
• Service Sector: North Delta Hockey is a Volunteer
service since most coaches involved are volunteer
coaches. Many teams “focus on fundraising” as a
source of funding (Lunn, 2021, p. 10).
• SPSC 2210 Connection: North Delta Hockey connects
to Recreation in our course content because by
having these associations available in your
community give opportunities for younger and older
athletes to participate in sports. By having these
types of associations available participants re able to
have fun, play, and express their creativity. All those
benefits increase physical and mental health.
12. North Delta Minor
Baseball Association

• Service Sector: North Delta Baseball is a
Volunteer service because once again this
association relies on the volunteering of
people to help run the teams and clinics,
without them the association will fail.
• SPSC 2210 Connection: North Delta Baseball
connects to our course through Recreation
as this is a way for athletes to express their
individuality within a local organized team.
By having these teams, you create a healthy
social net while also benefiting from the
physical activity and mental health benefits.
13. North Delta FC

• Service Sector: North Delta FC is a Volunteer
service because the association “seeks public
sectors for assistance” (Lunn, 2021, p. 10). An
example of this is the fact that they use public
fields that are funded through taxpayers and
local government.
• SPSC 2210 Connection: North Delta FC
connects Recreation to our course because
once again it is a way for the community to stay
active and healthy. By having these resources
available we empower people and bring the
community closer.
