Justin Bieber-What DoYou Mean Lighting
■ There has been two different main sources of light (blue and pink) used in this music
video could give our group possible ideas if we were to choose a pop genre song which
would match the style of lighting and Mise En Scene very well.
■ Furthermore, this effect of the lighting gives an almost modern, futuristic sense to it
which could be seen as a USP (Unique Selling Point).

Olly Murs- DanceWith MeTonight
■ The use of narrative woven into the performance is very good in the editing style of
this video
■ This type of editing is called Montage editing which I would like to incorporate into my
groups music video.
■ In this video particularly, I found that more frequent cutting between the narrative and
performance sections of the video creates an enjoyable experience for the viewer and
also builds pace and tension which I would like to re create in our music video.

Conor Maynard- R U Crazy
■ The effects of lighting in particular throughout this video are very good in the effect
they have on the viewer.
■ You are able to understand the narrative of the performance through a silhouette
which is comparative to the performance where there is a black background.
■ This small feature used creates a big effect and have a professional look which as a
group we could possibly consider re creating for a performance section as a base track
for our music video.
5. Video 4
Coldplay- Princess of China
■ The background settings are very iconic making the establishing setting shots clear
and also create a narrative with a setting.
■ Furthermore, the changing of shot types is good and how they are able to cut between
them effectively to give a big picture along with XCU shots to show details.
■ Most importantly, there is a clear motif and idea which is shown mainly shown through
Mise En Scene is repetitively shown through the whole video. We could consider this
when thinking of a USP for our artist in the production of our music video.
6. Video 5
KanyeWest- No Church InTheWild
■ The use of narrative and performance with the balance between both is very good in
this music video. The establishing setting shots and first few shots help create a clear
picture of the message and meaning of the song.
■ The lights being used in the middle image create a shadow over the artist which looks
very professional, something we could possibly look into for our narrative or
performance section shots.
