2. AGE & CLASS
• The contrast between age categories, youth and the elderly has its own stereotypes.
• For example, youth the representation is wealth, beauty, love
• Working class chic- the representation of street cred and inner values such as respect
and trust from the ‘streets’
3. REGION/PLACE
• Different locations and settings for music videos help show a visual representation of the
genre and meaning of the song/purpose of the music video
• Also, depending on the type of music video (narrative perhaps) it would provide the basis
as the location for the story that correlates with the lyrics and meaning of the song.
• This is how some areas and locations which are popularly used have preconceived
connotation.
• Camera shots mainly consist of wide's or longshots to get the location setting in the
background with the artist/group in the foreground more down stage to signify their
importance to the audience
• LA as the sunny nirvana where the American dream is realised
• London is a grimy area with the infection of drugs, gangs and violence.
