2. Camerawork - From the album cover, we
can see a low angle shot of J Cole . This
shot is quite effective as it puts him right
in the middle of the front cover and its
almost like you are looking up to him, so
all of the attention is on him. In this shot,
we can see that J Cole is sitting on top of
the house in which he used to live in
when he was younger and this is what
the album is based on, him growing up .
J Cole’s audience is typically young
adults, who may be experiencing what
he did when he was younger.
This album cover is quite typical with pop and R&B artists. This is because we can see the artist and their
emotions, which helps us to relate to them.
J Cole – 2014 Forest Hill Drive
Mise-en-scene - On the front cover of the album, the use of costume
shows us that J Cole is not a very flashy artist even though he is wealthy.
From what the artist is wearing - a sweatshirt, jeans and some trainers
shows the audience lives a happy and quite simple lifestyle, with the use of
the camerawork we can see that he is high up which shows us that he is
happy in the position in which he is in.
Design - The design of this part
of the album is not very
complicated. The reason being
because of the use of the
camerawork and mise-en-scene
working together to create a
sense of humbleness and
simplicity. The name of the title
is written in a faded font, which
is used to create an effect to
grab your attention even more.

4. Drake – Take Care
Design - The design of the front part of the album is complex and very well structured. This is because of the use
of the camerawork and mise-en-scene working together to create a sense of what the artist is feeling. The name
of the title of the album is also written in a very well old fashioned way, which portrays the artist's classy and
wealthy lifestyle.
Camerawork – the shot on
the front cover is a mid
shot, This shot is quite
significant as it puts him in
the centre of the cover, so
all of the attention is on
him. We can also see in the
shot his facial expression,
which is made so you can
see clearly what the artist is
feeling. Drake's audience is
typically young adults, who
may be experiencing what
he is at this moment in his
life and can also relate.
Mise-en-scene - On the front cover of the album, the use of costume and props is used to
represent what the artist is feeling. From what the artist is wearing - a nice shirt with gold
chains – you would look and think that the artist is living a wealthy and happy lifestyle,
however because of the camerawork, showing his facial expressions, this is clearly not the
case and he may not be enjoying the fame as much as the audience thinks he does.
Design - The dark font for
the song names and the
black background, helps to
reinforce the feelings in
which the artist is feeling.
The colour of the font
doesn't really stand out
against the black
background, this is to also
used to go with the message
that it everything is un clear
to the artist.

6. Bastille – “Bad Blood”
Design - The bands logo is very bold, along with the name of the album, This is to go with the
idea of the band being quite indie, and that that is the band's symbol.
Camerawork - On the front
cover of the album, we can
see that a long shot is used.
This shot is very effective, as
it helps the band project the
meaning and symbol of the
album. This shot is used
effectively to go with the
name of the album which is
quite scary, and also allows
people to create the
meaning themselves.
Mise-en-scene – We can see the that the person on the front cover of the
album is dressed in casual clothing, however the setting is used to show the
audience that something isn’t right and question why there would be someone
running down a road with car lights shining on them This adds to the fact that
the meaning could literally be to think what you want of the album's songs,
and go with what you think.
Design- the design on the
back of the album is
designed very well as we
can see the headlights of
what looks to be a car and
if you look back at the
front of the album cover
we can see a car light
shinning on a person
running down the road,
this is effective as it makes
the audience think what is
the purpose of this and
why they have decided to
create this effect with the
album cover
