How effective is the combination of
 your main product and ancillary
               texts?
Camera work

 In our music video we used a variety of shots.
 For example, in the opening we used a mid shot of Sam in
   bed. However we then zoomed a number of times until it
   became a close shot of him singing and his eyes opening.
 We also used panning outside the house in order to set the
   scene.
 During instrumental shots we used close ups and mid shots
   to show the guitars being played. These shots also showed
   that the main character was in the instrumental part of
   the video. This is typically used throughout the pop
   genre.
Digi-pack designs
Digi-pack designs

 This design is effective alongside my main product because the imagery
    was taken so that it would represent the storyline portrayed in the
    music video.
 The imagery used on the cd front cover represents the storyline and
    emotions of each character. The front cover is effective when
    combined with the main production as it clearly represents the
    storyline. Also the characters are on the front cover which shows a
    link between the video and digi-pack.
 The back cover is effective because it represents that the boy is still
    young and immature. This links to the main product as the story is
    about him trying to show that he is grown up.
 The cd insert is effective as it gives the audience a chance to see the
    lyrics. This is often used in real media products. E.g. Biffy Clyro-
    Opposites CD.
Special effects, editing and cutting

In the music video we used cutting and editing
   throughout in order to make the video move to the
   beat of the music. An example would be the
   montage during the guitar solo.
Lighting effects were used in the long shots of Sam
   sat in the courtyard. This was in order to brighten
   up the shot so that the weathering looked similar to
   other previous shots.
Magazine ad

 The magazine advert promotes the main product because the main
      character is centred on the advert.
 The music industry uses advertising in order to try to sell their product
      to thee consumer. They achieve this by tailoring their advertisements
      to the satisfaction of their target audience.
 Our magazine advert is aimed at fountains of Wayne fans. Across the
top, it has the fountains of Wayne text which is easily recognisable on all
of their albums. This will catch the eye of the consumer
and draw in their interest.
 Our advert effectively combines with the main production
 as it is easily recognisable and portrays the video to be
 upbeat and enjoyable. This is shown by the picture of the
 main character in a performance shot.
