What Are Asics s Biggest Competitors
In this portion of the report, I will conduct an analysis of Asics two biggest competitors, Adidas and
Nike. In 2015, Asics stores totaled at 785 worldwide. These stores were located in the Americas,
Japan, EMEA, East Asia, Southeast Asia, and the Oceania. In comparison, Nike had a total stores of
803 worldwide and Adidas doubled with a total of 1,616 stores according to ASICS company
documents, NIKE, INC. 2016 Annual Report, and ADIDAS Group Annual Report 2015. Nike s sales
have been a major indicator of their success in the footwear industry designating themselves as the
number one competitor. Nike has been a top brand in the footwear industry and their records verify
this information accordingly. For instance, in 2015, Nike s net income ... Show more content on

They have excelled in making Nike not just a sports shoe, but a shoe that can be worn in any occasion.
Even with Asics developing three various style of shoes for every occasion, they have not been able to
portray the brand image similar to the one Nike has established. Asics and Nike both developed shoes
that appeal to athletes, runners, and fashion forward individuals that tailor to individuals looking
firstmost for comfort. Nike targets over all major sports and casual wear. Since Nike and Asics both
originally started as a shoe company, it still seems impossible for Asics to reach the numbers that Nike
strikingly accumulates year after year. Ironically, when Nike first established themselves in 1964, they
were purchasing Onitsuka Tiger shoes from Japan, the brand that Asics was originally known as. This
image that Nike has built over time and the fact they began as a shoe company originally has made it
Nike seem impenetrable to slow down by Under Armour. Under Armour hired Nike s old shoe
designer to recreate new shoes, but the same problem still exists: Under Armour is viewed as strictly

Sakai Masato Research Paper
Sakai Masato was born in 14 October 1973 in Kobe, and he moved to Miyazaki with his family when
he was two. During his high school days, he aimed for becoming a civil servant and applied for public
universities, but failed. Then, he was being admitted into the Bachelor of Arts course of Waseda
University, majoring in Chinese Literature (which explains his ability of speaking Chinese, as
demonstrated in several occasions). He joined the Performing Arts Club of the University during his
college days, and withdrew from school in 1996 when he aimed to become an actor. But then, his
unsatisfied parents cut ties with him, and for around six years, he was working as an out of work actor,

Megan Kanka Case
Megan Kanka and several other children have been the reason for the safety of children around this
country. I know that you re wondering in what way this person contributed to the safety of other
children. Well Megan Kanko was a 7 years old child who was next door from a previously charged
pedophile in Hamilton Township, New Jersey. The difference between then and now is that in the past
there were no laws stating that pedophiles had to inform those who lived near them that they were
there, of their past convictions, or even some type of registration available. This was the case of
Megan Kanka s offender, Jesse Timmendequas. His record consisted of attempted aggravated sexual
assault of a 5 year old girl in Piscataway, New Jersey, in 1979. He had pleaded guilty to the charges
for attempted aggravated sexual assault. He was given a suspended sentence, but he failed to go to
counseling, so he was forced to spend nine months at the Middlesex Adult Correctional Center. In
1981, he again pleaded guilty in regards to the sexual assault of a seven year old girl and was
imprisoned, at Avenel, for six years. He s an example of a recidivist who was controlled and ... Show

The Media as Conduit for Political Propaganda Essay
The Media as Conduit for Political Propaganda
According to the latest polls, 90% of Americans favor military retaliation for the September 11 attacks
on the World Trade Center. Taking into consideration that all aggregate data is used for self serving
means, this number is still exceptionally large. The numbers are manufactured by propaganda
vehicles, or rather the mainstream media. In a sort of Orwellian fashion, the media bombards the
audience with images, voices, and memoirs of death, grief, and pain that pervert their way into public
consciousness, creating a sort of group think. In the essay Propaganda, American style, Noam
Chomsky writes:

Such is the nature of the democratic beast. This concept of manufactured consent , a term coined by
American journalist Walter Lippman, should come as no surprise considering that the media is a
vehicle and a product of capitalism. The metaphor of money equals power has a large stake in the
operations of the media. The news stations, newspapers, and radio stations are all controlled by a
powerful elite; yet, the media themselves are huge profit seeking corporations. They are integrated
into the market, and are thus subject to criticism and control by their stockholders. The stockholders
want the bottom line, or in other words, what they want to hear. Money and power are the means
through which the news is filtered, dissent is squelched, and political agenda is satisfied.
In Noam Chomsky s work Manufacturing Consent, the relationship between objectivity and the media
is explained.
The elite domination of the media and marginalization of dissidents that results from the operation of
these filters occurs so naturally that media news people, frequently operating with complete integrity
and goodwill, are able to convince themselves that they choose and interpret the news objectively and
on the basis of professional news values.
This concept of objectivity is unable to exist in a nation so reliant on systematic bias. The symbiotic
relationship between the media and the powerful elite makes it difficult for a reporter to cut of ties
with those who

The Issues Regarding Access Healthcare For Rural Veterans
The Issues Regarding Access to Healthcare for Rural Veterans in Montana
Introduction
One of the biggest problems of the current VA administration is access to health care for veterans in
rural areas. According to the office of rural health as of 2014 there were 22 million veterans across the
nation, 5.3 million of them live in rural areas, and 57% of these rural veterans are enrolled in the U.S.
Department of Veterans Affairs (VA) health care system (ORH).
Over 20 percent of military service members returning from Iraq and Afghanistan reported symptoms
of PTSD or depression but only a bit more than 50% of them have sought treatment. One reason for
this is due to the fact that many of these veterans reside in rural areas ... Show more content on

Positive Role Model
Title
Imagine living in a world without role models. Creation would be an immense chaotic mess with the
population acting like heathens. Similar to a flower that does not receive enough nourishments
gradually perishing, without positive role models feeding our youth, creation would inhabit
senselessness and eventually terminate. Today, in the society we live in, people are more concerned on
the public status, or simply the exterior appearance, of a person rather than the example they are
setting. Leading to the question, what is a positive role model? Well, this can be very complex in

Instead, an honest person is accurate, shows fairness, and has consideration for others feelings. One
value that would be worthy to follow, is someone to does not participate in drug misuse, underage

others that they can have increased fun without breaking the law. One of the utmost commendable

The Case For Christ By Lee Strobel
Introduction
Award winning journalist, Lee Strobel wrote The Case for Christ to retrace and expand his journey
toward becoming a Christian. Strobel once declared atheist, and now Christian, shares how he began
to look upon the Bible and God. As an atheist, Strobel lived the life of selfishness and only worried to
please himself. When his wife began to go to church he wasn t very pleased until after he saw the
positive and attractive change in her. This is the start of his curiosity and investigation about
Christianity. To relate with his wife he decided to study about this and attend church services with her.
Strobel interviewed thirteen leading scholars who defended their views concerning the historical

126). Next, Strobel writes about his interview with Bruce Metzger concerning the reliability of the text
in the New Testament. Since the original books of the New Testament was lost, how do we know that
the copied text is identical to the memo? According to Metzger, the more often you have copies that
agree with each other, especially if they emerge from different geographical areas, the more you can
cross check them to figure out what the original document was like (p. 76). Also, Strobel asked
Metzger why some books weren t included in the New Testament and his response was that the church
did want to portray such pictures of Jesus in the canon, that the church only wanted the New
Testament to contain only the best historical stories of Jesus. The next scholar interviewed was Edwin
Yamauchi. He was asked about additional biblical proof that confirms the New Testament but he was
not very convincing. The question for Strobel s fourth interview was whether archeology increased or
decreased the New Testaments reliability. Three New Testament statements are entirely unsupported
by archaeology. First, the three hours of worldwide darkness during the crucifixion (Mark 15:33).
Second, the resurrection of the saints, and their following appearance to many in Jerusalem (Matthew
27:52 53). Finally third, Jesus burial in the tomb.

Exempt Employees
There are three main factors that Amy should use to determine whether Jane and her fellow shift
workers are exempt or non exempt. The first element is the salary criteria for the employees (Vogel et
al., 2007). All the states in the United States are covered under the FLSA guidelines and should
compensate the employees accordingly to avoid any possible disputes arising from employee suing the
business for mistreatment. The Non exempt personnel must be rewarded for the hours they work
overtime; the normal working hours for these employees are forty hours in a week. The exempt
employees, on the other hand, are not eligible for payments of any overtime unless they have an
individual agreement with the company. If an employee is salaried by the company does not mean that
they are exempted. The personnel in the organizations under the FLSA except some cases defined by
the law such as the lawyers and doctors have to ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The salary criteria for the exempt employees include must obtain a prearranged amount of pay for a
period agreed; the payments should be salaried in such a manner that every payment the employee
receives a similar amount. They are not paid on hourly basis, it does not matter how many hours an
exempt employee works in the organization, and the payment at the end of the salaried period should
be the same (Locke, 2009). Most of the exempt employees in busy organizations work extra hours to
make sure that the organizational deliverables are met. Their payments are not subject to any
variations despite the organizational conditions. No matter the increase in profits by the company or
increase in job requirement, the employee s salary is at a constant according to their recruitment
agreement with the human business resources. Their salaries change only after the agreed increment

The Effects Of Antidepressant Pills On Teenagers And...

Teenagers and Antidepressants In recent discussions of antidepressant pills a controversial issue has
been whether doctors should prescribe antidepressants to teenagers. Antidepressant pills are prescribed
to
individuals who suffer from a condition called Major Depression Disorder, labeled MDD for
abbreviation. Major Depressive Disorder is a mental disorder characterized by a pervasive and
persistent low mood that is accompanied by low self esteem and by loss of interest or pleasure in
normally enjoyable activities. The objectives of antidepressant pills are to stabilize, and
normalize the abnormal low levels of brain chemicals for those who suffer from MDD. On the
other hand, some argue that antidepressants are harmful and do a disadvantage to teenagers,
therefore should not be prescribed to them. However, others argue that the pills are not harmful
and in some cases the strong need of antidepressants outweigh the risks the pills might provide.
Antidepressants prevent teenagers from recuperating on their own and prevents them from
learning how to cope with conflicts thus, they should not be prescribed.
Depression results in symptoms such as sadness, it affects a person s emotions and leads
to both emotional and physical problems. The antidepressant pills are meant to help the brain
recuperate and adjust to normality. The reason why people reconsider taking the pills in the first
place is

Promiscuity
Promiscuity. What is your reaction to the word? We all know a promiscuous girl. We all look down on
her in our own ways. Sometimes she is backstabbed by friends and sometimes she is openly scorned
by others. What we do not realise, is she is not the only one, or maybe we do not want to accept it.
Research positions us at first place on the podium of promiscuity. Why are we such a promiscuous
nation? What risks are we bringing upon ourselves? Are we all nomads in the land of sexuality?
Perhaps it is our loose lifestyles, or when growing up we are faced with confusion. A young New
Zealander s lifestyle of drinking, partying, and in some cases, drugs is the perfect precedent for a night
likely to be regretted, not remembered, or resulting ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
This may result in a decrease of promiscuity, as the new generations self esteems will be healthier. For
young people I believe the confusion they are faced with when growing up may play a part. Maybe the
transition into adulthood makes young people think they need to start being sexually active. They may
become desperate to feel belonging or companionship. These feelings could be likened to those of
Holden Caulfield the main character and protagonist of The Catcher in the Rye by J. D. Salinger.
Throughout the novel Holden is on a seesaw between being a child and being an adult. One of the
issues that surface for him is that of having sex. At one point in the novel Holden is faced with the
opportunity I kept hoping she d be good looking. I didn t care too much, though. I sort of just wanted
to get it over with. This shows Holden s feelings towards sex. Under these circumstances sex has no
signs of intimacy or fun. It is almost as if sex is an opportunity for him to grow up . Maybe it is simply
a rite of passage. It worries me that this may be the reason for some young people being promiscuous.
If they think becoming an adult means they must do this they are obviously not mature enough yet and
still need time to grow up. The statistics produced by a condom maker labels New Zealand women as
the most promiscuous in the world with an average of 20.3 sexual partners. New Zealand men were
not at the top like the women but still above average with

Vladek Tragic Figure In Late Into The Maus
Late into the Maus narrative, a series of squared panels depicts a series of events which leads the
readers from a state of unease to one of triumph for the characters. The story has led the reader to
Sosnowiec, once the home to Vladek and his family but now depicted as a somber and precarious
location through the use of darker shadowing and an accelerando pace when compared to Sosnowiec
earlier on in the novel. Vladek is shown walking, followed behind is a mysterious figure. The reader s
first glimpse of the figure is on the third panel, where his face is revealed. Because of the
classification system the book has taught, the reader will most likely assume that the figure following
Vladek is a pole. His pig like appearance is engraved into the reader s mind as meaning pole, just the
same as cat means Nazi/German, and mouse means Jew. The Jews are undoubtedly a race, but they are

Once the man following Vladek is identified as Jew, the reader is shown the strings of the mask hiding
his mouse face. Throughout the book, the use of this mask is prominent. On page 155, we are shown

On page 6 Spiegelman first introduced these masks, You re a pole like me states Vladek to a train
man, and unaware of Vladek s true identity he sees the mask . The physical masks in the books are
apparent, which leads the reader to question as to how other characters in the book do not notice them.
If Art Spiegelman implies that the characters do not notice others disguises , then he is also implying
that the characters in the book do not see each other races. The manifestation of animals depicting race
is simply a guide to the reader s mind. Why else would the Art Spiegelman in the book create Prisoner

Defining Job Satisfaction
Introduction The persistence with the establishments depends with enriching the palette of products
and services offering their shoppers and producing far better quality, cheaper and more useful
products, improving business processes by means of continuously analyzing as well as increasing their
overall performance. In this good sense, for establishments, testing organizational devotion, task
satisfaction for neighborhood customer contentment, top quality, time, structure of organization and its
particular strength gain a higher importance. It might be only so practical for the employees who

positive behaviors like this, with construction of an emotional bond using their job and place. When
the employee likes the work he made as well as feels himself as being a precious person throughout
enterprise, he won t spare to indicate beneficial attitudes for that enterprise. He work as if he were
getting work done in his own job with this satisfaction. Establishments cannot disregard this positive
atmosphere resulting from job satisfaction, whether or not, for their unique benefit. Establishments
should organize social routines, to instill a feeling of job satisfaction for employees and ought of do
activities which would cause the workers, no matter what exactly they do (cleanliness,

Anatomy Of Hell Analysis
Catherine Breillat is another filmmaker that criticizes the aesthetics and societal demands to fit into
the norms of femininity and the burden it brings to the female sex. In her film, Anatomy of Hell, she
indulges in taboos and the society s indifference towards the female sex to shine a light on the
traditional and oppressive views of the female body and human sexuality. She explicitly explores the
depths of the female s sex and indulges in the men s view of the female body and the feelings it brings
about. The film follows a man and a woman in a four day exploration of women s sexuality in a
secluded home where the woman is in her most vulnerable stage (nudity) in hopes of understanding
how men view women. The film opens up with her in a gay club where she is openly isolated as the
only woman and excluded in her otherness. She is surrounded by men on men sexual activity through
kissing, dancing, and oral stimulation. The scene overwhelming indulges in the isolation of women in
their femininity and thus becomes a metaphor for women s place in the world and society. Their
appearance is viewed as that of Other where they can not appear and move in the same way as men
and this scene explicitly shows how excluded women feel from public space in a society dominated by
man. The woman enters this scene and feels overwhelmed by the masculinity surrounding her and the
inferiority imposed on her through their immense presence, so she goes to the bathroom where she
brushes past a man who actually sees her. She sees him the way he sees her and goes to commit
suicide. In an interview with Breillat, she states More than desire, she is looking for her sexual
identity, for her self. For her, he is a kind of image. It s not a club for homosexuals, it s a club where
men come together, men who don t like women, and there are many places on the planet where men
don t like women. It s an allegory (Kevin Murphy, Hell s Angels: An Interview with Catherine Breillat

slits her wrist and the man walks in and stops the bleeding. He asked Why did you do that? in which

Mr Birling s Responsibility In An Inspector Calls
An Inspector Calls was written in 1945 the year the second world war ended but set shortly before the

that the upper class or upper middle in Mr Birling s case had and to try to stop us from going down

Should We Continue Human Cloning
One event that will probably in happen in the near future is human cloning. Human cloning began
inevitable when Scottish scientists made Dolly. The sheep was cloned on July 5, 1996 which made her
the most famous sheep in the world. Dolly was the result of 277 failed attempts. She was actually
formed without a sperm. So Dolly s cell began from a sheep and was fused with a donor egg through
electricity. Since the birth of Dolly was a major scientific breakthrough, scientists wanted to perfect
human cloning. So people decided to clone animals because it seemed more ethical than testing
humans. President Clinton signed a five year contract so they can began the cloning of animals and the
federal funding. So far, scientists have cloned mice, sheep, pigs, cows, and many more animals. The
chances have now increased to one to four percent. That maybe low however it increased from a

A DNA cell is taken from the human being cloned. Next, the enucleated fuses with the subject s cell.

Prior to independence and up to 2001, the principal tax collection agencies were known as the
Department of Taxes and the Department of Customs and Excise. The Department of Taxes was
charged with the collection of corporate tax, sales tax, personal income tax, capital gains tax, etc,
while the department of Customs and Excise s duty collected border taxes and the so called sin taxes
in the form of liquor and tobacco excise taxes. Economic reforms dictated by the IMF and the World
Bank brought in a wave of reforms in the revenue collection capacities of state and its agencies. Aside
from the introduction and implementation of user fees in services departments such as schools, clinics
and hospitals, the reforms culminated in the combination of the two key departments to form the
Zimbabwe Revenue Authority (ZIMRA), headed by a Commissioner General. ZIMRA was
established on 19 January 2001 as a successor organisation to the then Department of Taxes and the
Department of Customs and Excise following the promulgation of the Revenue Authority Act on
February 11, 2000. Among other reasons for this amalgamation were the world trends, desire to
improve efficiency by reducing bottlenecks and duplication of roles. This harmonized revenue

beautiful it is also cold and dangerous. The lowest the temperature can get is 80 degrees fahrenheit.
About some two hundred dead bodies cover the mountain from things like: falls, avalanches, and
exposure to frostbite and there is about one in ten successful summits that end in death. It costs about

Social Issues In Brave New World
The people who govern the Brave New World may not be sane; but they are not madmen, and their
aim is not anarchy, but social stability. In the novel, Brave New World, the motto is: Community,
Identity, and Stability. (1)This motto is very satirical due to the scientific advancement identifying
who people are and who they associate with and the humans are far from stable. Aldous Huxley
portrays the political and social issues in the novel by using imagery, diction, and allusions to bring a
connection to similar hardships in1930 s.
Imagery is used a lot throughout Brave New World especially in the form of comparing humans to
animals. It is repeatedly stated strait from the horse s mouth , and when foster says that any cow could
merely hatch out embryos.(1) Another example, is how humans are born in hatcheries rather than
hospitals. There is also fertilizing rooms for humans, that process would normally happen with plants.
Animals are usually under control and are conditioned to act right just like humans in this society. It s
as if the government is the owners and all the people are the pets. Huxley seems to be dehumanizing
the people of the world state. In Germany Hitler was in some way dehumanizing the Jews and they
were being treated like animals and being controlled.
With this perspective the question may arise, who is actually more animal like the savages or the
people of the world state?
Todd 2
Diction plays a huge role in the novel. Huxley s uses diction to paint a

In fact, in 1955, there was a leader named Lucius Caelum who was considered as a prophet because he
claimed that the goddess bequeaths him the ability to detect excess darkness or light in people. As he
convinced people into believing his claim, more people began to join Diamantism and conform to
Lucius. Charisma is extremely especially for Lucius because without charisma, how is he able to

Stress Is The Body s Way Of Demand
Stress is the body s way of responding to any kind of demand. People s bodies react in different ways
to stress depending on how the view and handle the demand. Stress can be caused by multiple factors
such as friends, family, jobs, schools, and worldview. The way we handle the different stresses of life
can either greatly improve our quality of life or harm it. There are two forms of coping with stress and
the first is problem focused coping. This form of coping is aimed at managing or correcting the
distressing situation (Coon, Psychology: modules for active learning). Then there is emotion focused
coping where we try to control the emotions caused by the situation. Both forms of coping can be used
in unison with each other. Being able to control your emotions could help you manage the stress in
your life. However, it is possible for the two methods to cancel each other out. When making a
difficult decision, a person may feel an intense form of emotional distress. In this moment, making an
easy decision seems like the best option to end the suffering but the easy decision might not be the
best one. The easy way out may cause later harm to a person s physical and mental wellbeing. The
harmful effects of stress on the human body is limitless. When under stress muscles in the body tense
up and become rigid. This is a defense mechanism used by the body to prevent injury. Frequent stress
and muscle tensing can potentially lead to stress related disorders such as ulcers,

Examples Of Overcoming Nihilism
Overcoming Nihilism according to Nietzsche
In this paper, I will explore Nietzsche s considerations towards nihilism and the philosopher s views
on overcoming it. My conclusion is that Nietzsche s strategy of overcoming nihilism is indeed viable
and a potential to be successful given the pragmatic nature of the individual. I will investigate further
on the reasons why this is the case. My assumptions in examples below are based on an application of
the Nietzsche s solution on a reasonably mentally stable individual.
First, let s assume Friedrich Nietzsche s definition of nihilism. According to Nietzsche:
1) Every belief, every considering something true, is necessarily false because there simply is no true
world . ...That there is no truth, that there is no absolute nature of things nor a thing in itself. (Will to
Power)
2) [Nihilism] ...places the value of things precisely in the lack of any reality corresponding to these
values and in their being merely a symptom of strength on the part of the value positers, a
simplification for the sake of life. (Will to Power) Therefore, an individual must accept absolute
nihilism where there is no pre determined higher meaning to life, no goals an individual is destined to
achieve and no social constructs to follow. Building upon this argument, Nietzsche elaborates in Will
to Power that Nihilism is . . . not only the belief that everything deserves to perish; but one actually
puts one s shoulder to the plough; one destroys .

Comparison of Medtronic s Financial Statements to Baxter s...
Medtronic s Ratings Earning Power I would rank Medtronic s earning power at a 9 on a scale of 1
(very weak) to 10 (very strong). Medtronic has successfully demonstrated their ability to grow and
provide substantial return to their owners. Medtronic s net earnings have steadily increased from
$984.0 million in 2002, to $1599.8 million in 2003, to $1959.3 million in 2004. Their total assets have
increased 13.7% from $12,405.5 million in 2003 to $14,110.8 million in 2004. These measures show
that Medtronic has been successful in generating profits and increasing their net assets. These

This account only made up 8% of the current liabilities for this year. These two facts show that the
accounts payable does not seem to be a significant form of financing. The company is not relying
heavily upon accounts receivable and is probably not having a difficult time generating cash to pay to
suppliers. One last measure used to determine the ranking provided for Medtronic s solvency was the
debt/equity ratio. Using this ratio, we see that the average total liabilities only make up 56% of the
total Stockholder s equity. This shows that the company s debt is bout half of the company s total book
value. All of these measures are consistent with the idea that Medtronic is able to produce cash to meet
debts as they come due. If the current and quick ratio proved that the company was carrying a large
percentage of current assets as compared to current liabilities, and if the debt didn t make up a
majority of the stockholder s equity, the ranking would have been higher. Earning Quality and
Persistence When ranking Medtronic s earning quality and persistence I would give the company a
ranking of 8 on a scale of 1 to 10. Net operating income is considered to be made up of usual and
frequent activities and is therefore considered to be persistent. This has steadily increased over the past
three years and can reasonably be expected to continue in the future. In 2002, the amount was $1590.2

Fingerprints, Dental, And Dna Reference Material
RADIOLOGIC IDENTIFICATION
Though antemortem fingerprints, dental, and DNA reference material are thought to be fairly easy to
obtain, this is not always the case (Christensen Hatch, 2014). Many times DNA is not available and a
body may be dismembered or so badly burned or decomposed that soft tissue features such as the face
and fingerprints are not available for comparison. In cases like this, forensic radiology can serve as an
extremely reliable identification tool and has long been used to establish identity when more
traditional methods of identification are not possible (Christensen Hatch, 2014; Brogdon, 1998). The
most common identification technique used by forensic anthropologists, radiographic comparison
involves the side by side or superimposed comparison of skeletal traits using antemortem and
postmortem radiographs (Brogdon, 1998). Forensic radiologists and investigators agree that, many
parts of the human skeleton can serve as bony prints of the identification of human remains, and in
certain respects bones have a uniqueness similar to that of footprints (Atkins, 1978).
Historically, radiographic comparisons used plain film radiology, however, over the last 30 years the
use of and reliance on medical imaging has increased significantly (Christensen Hatch, 2014). With
advances in radiologic technology methods such as computed topography (CT), magnetic resonance
imaging (MRI) and multi slice computed topography (MSCT) have become more widely used. Since

Of Vincent Lamouroux s Essay Notes On Site Specificity
The stark white remains of the Sunset Pacific Motel upsets the urban environment surrounding the
strip of Sunset Boulevard in the Silver Lake neighborhood of Los Angeles. French artist Vincent
Lamouroux coats an abandoned motel, the billboard that rests above it, the wire fence encompassing
it, and the palm trees surrounding it with a temporary layer of opaque lime wash. He names the piece
Projection. The motel now stands like a ghost, gleaming in white with its community s history
eternalized beneath those layers of paint. The structure visually contrasts with the backdrop of bright
blue skies, like a billboard trying to capture the viewer s attention. Lamouroux liberates the motel
from its original function and gives new meaning to a site ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Haring s ACT UP, which later circulated as mass produced posters, reflects upon and urges for
awareness on the AIDS crisis. Kwon claims that with the incorporation of the street into the
framework of art, there is a greater concern for integrating art more directly into the realm of the
social, either in order to redress (in an activist sense) urgent social problems such as the ecological
crisis, homelessness, AIDS...or more generally in order to relativize art as one among many forms of
cultural work. Although Haring s style as an artist is inherently recognizable and bears the mark of his
artistic identity, both Projection and ACT UP use the street as a site of protest and interrupt the urban
landscape through their choice of contrasting color palettes, creating a confrontation between the
viewer and the problems of the present. Over the last decade, Silver Lake has become one of the many
neighborhoods of Los Angeles subjected to gentrification. Today, the neighborhood is filled with
trendy coffee shops and boutiques. The Sunset Pacific Motel, a victim of gentrification, has been
closed for decades by the city due to constant criminal activities and faded into the background of
Silver Lake as a liminal space where one simply

The Effect Of The Black Plague On The Economic Situation...
The readings for this class concerned the Peasants Revolt of 1381, and included documents 60 Wage
and Price Regulations, 62 Chronicle Accounts of the Peasants Revolt, and 63 Peasants Revolt Trials.
The documents, with the exception of document 60 which was written in 1349 and 1350, were all
written contemporarily with the event. This paper will take approach A, attempting to create a unique
thesis for each document individually due to the differing nature of the documents. Document 60 on
wage and price regulations contains the Ordinance of Labourers, 1349 and the London Wage and Price
Regulations, 1350. Both of these are laws issued by Parliament in order to combat the numerous
effects of the Black Plague on the economic situation of ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Serfdom, is similar in being involuntary labour, but was tied specifically to land holdings. Serfdom,
therefore, only affected serfs. Compulsory service, on the other hand, applied to all free men under
sixty years of age as well. Besides, neither of these systems were cited as inspirations for compulsory
service. The authors of the document specifically mention the dire economic situation as the impetus
for their decision. Although, this legislation seems more aimed in fear at the rising of lesser classes
than a reasoned response to economic change. A latter section specifically discourages giving alms to
beggars upon pain of imprisonment. Previously, free labourers were able to seek employment in other
towns or villages if they found some manner of their current work unsuitable. Under compulsory
service, attempts to do such a thing were punishable with jail time. Compulsory service did not
disappear and was utilised well through the fourteenth and fifteenth centuries. Wage and price fixing
was not a new concept in England in 1349, but it had never been done on this scale. Generally, both
wages and prices had been regulated regionally. This often meant individual villages had rules set
differently than one another, depending on circumstance, and the people setting them. With this
ordinance in 1349, King Edward III unified the country in a way, bringing every region, regardless of
local differences, under one set of rules. Punishment for breaking these rules too became

Concussions In Sports Narrative
October 16th 2013 I was at work performing my normal duties, when as I lifted on a box to put it on a
self above my head, I felt and heard a tearing/popping sound coming from my left shoulder. I was in
serious pain after that. My employer had me feel out an accident report, and then sent me to their
doctor. After being examined by the doctor, I was told that I just strained my left shoulder and put me
on a temporary restriction, which limited the amount of weight I could lift. I was also told to come
back for physical therapy once a week. After 5 weeks of physical therapy and with the pain almost
unbearable, I decided to go to my own doctor. My doctor examined me and immediately scheduled an
MRI. The MRI showed that I had a tear down the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

Krasner International Legal Sovereignty
The standard of the popular sovereignty implies, that the authority of a state is to govern itself or
another state. Further, under our constitution, those who wield the executive power of the Government
are responsible to the legislatures and through them, to the people.
Krasner: According to Krasner it can be stated that governance and transitional administration are
inadequate. For this reason Krasner created three elements in which he viewed conventional
sovereignty, however, each still may contain their own violations of conventional sovereignty.

These five global wars defy the traditional notions of sovereignty. Speaking personally I can attest to
the alien smuggling in Milan stated in this article. I have recently studied abroad in the Italy and
traveled through Milan many times. Due to this experience I have first hand knowledge of undeniably
grueling experiences of these aliens. They are forced from their homes and sold to the highest bidder
multiple times and forced into jobs that they cannot succeed in. These wars are becoming much ore
difficult to solve day y day due to the increasing amount of technology that gives the enemy the power
to succeed. Naim recommends that a more flexible sovereignty be put in place. For example the
Venezuelan government denied the U.S. planes authorization to fly over Venezuelan territory to
monitor air routes commonly used by narcotraffickers giving the government the time and resources
to crack down on a single issue allowing for more resources to be put towards others when it is solved

No Place For Sissies
According to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, LGBT people need culturally competent
medical care and prevention services (Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), 2014). After
viewing the video Old Age is No Place for Sissies I evaluated how I would care for this population as
a nurse. Providing culturally competent care to this population is vital. A person should not avoid
receiving preventive care and care for life threatening conditions due to a fear of discrimination,
violence or stigma (Levitt, 2015).
Providing culturally competent care, communicating and understanding how patients identify
themselves is essential in providing care. The patient wants to be heard, respected and seen for who
they are and not what you may feel they are. In the video a gentleman spoke about wishing he had
someone to invite over for coffee. Many of the elder LGBT population may not have many ... Show

Assessing the needs of the LGBT elderly population is essential, they are independent and it is hard
for them to seek assistance. Furthermore utilizing various assessment tools within the geriatric LGBT
population can provide insightful information regarding the type of care needed. The assessment
measurement tools that can be used include the Geriatric Depression Scale (GDS), The Lawton
Instrumental Activities of Daily Living (IADL) scale, and the Alcohol Use Screening and Assessment
for Older Adults. In addition information will be provided regarding organizations such as SAGE
(Services and Advocacy for LGBT Elders) and the Griot Circle. These organizations can assist the
patient with housing, social adult day programs, social services, health and wellness programs and
many other services. Overall, we should treat people, the way that we like to be treated. Treat people

Montessori Method Of Education
Montessori Method of Education is one of the unique methods of the education which stimulates the
child s natural curiosity to learn. Culture and creativity area an integral part of the Montessori
curriculum. Every area of the Montessori curriculum is interrelated and follows the same foundations.
Each area of curriculum has special purpose of education and helps the child in stimulating their
imaginative powers. Montessori Method strongly believes that imagination is based on the reality
based experiences and creativity is directly related to exposing the children to real life situations. So,
we can say that in order to be more imaginative and creative, child must have real and concrete
experiences with the real objects.
According to Maria Montessori, The true basis of the imagination is reality, and its perception is
related to exactness of observation. It is necessary to prepare children to perceive the things in their
environment exactly, in order to secure for them the material required by the imagination. Intelligence,
reasoning, and distinguishing one thing from another prepares a cement for imaginative constructions
1 (The advanced Montessori method.p.196)
Montessori Method of Education believes that every child is different and has his own needs. So every
child is allowed to learn in his own unique manner at his own pace. Every aspect of the Montessori
curriculum starting from the Practical life to the Culture area is closely intrigued with each other

The Struggle in Crime and Punishment Essay
The Struggle in Crime and Punishment
Reading this book makes you ill because from the beginning to the end you watch as psychological
forces eat away at the thoughts and actions of their victim causing him to finally confess to the
hideous crime he has committed. The story is basically the struggle between Raskolnikov s Napoleon
übermensch theory and his conscience which make him confess to his crime. Dostoevsky s genius is
in describing how Raskolnikov struggles in his thoughts and actions. His thoughts become
increasingly disjointed and desperate and his actions show that he has an increasing need to escape the
uncertainty of being convicted, to talk about the crime, to confess, and to suffer for his crime. It is

He lets the criminal incriminate himself. It s uncanny how Profiry manages to keep Raskolnikov
hovering around him until he finally confesses it s also uncanny to realize how natural it is for
Raskolnikov to come under Porfiry s psychological spell. This leads to a central question of the book:
are laws just abitrary human constructs or are there psychological laws which govern our behavior in
societies. Raskolnikov believes (as he wrote in his article) that people can rise above human laws as
Napoleon did, but Profiry (and Dostoevsky) believe otherwise:
What is running away? it s merely formal; the point isn t that he won t run away because he has
nowhere to run to, but that psychologically he won t escape, he, he! What an expression! By a law of
his nature he wouldn t escape, even if he had somewhere to escape to. Have you ever seen a moth with
a candle? Well, he ll be just like that, he ll circle round me as if I were a candle: Freedom will no
longer be a boon to him; he will begin to brood, he will get himself into a muddle, entangle his own
feet in a net, and worry himself to death! . . . More than that, he himself will provide me with a
mathematical proof, of the nature of two and two make four if only I allow a long enough interval
between the acts of the drama . . . And he ll keep on, keep on circling round me, closer and closer, and
then, plop! he ll fly straight into my mouth and

There are many functions within an organization. The human Resources department plays a vital role
in any business, but especially within the law enforcement community. Human Resources has the

1). Now, we all know that world does not exist or it has not been discovered. A law enforcement
agency operates the same way any other business runs that has employees. There should always be an
advocate within the organization that will become the voice for personnel under their command.
When conflict does arise, there is an instinctive tendency to bunker down and reinforce the lines
between competing groups (Reynolds, 2014, para. 2). For a problem to get, resolved one has to
recognize there is even an issue. A good leader must be able to scrutinize the source of the conflict and
determine if it the issue is pre existing, or was the problem introduced by other means.
There are two distinct types of conflict: conflict that is functional and can build stronger teams,
processes, and working relationships, and dysfunctional conflict can destroy the cohesion of an agency
(Reynolds, 2014, para. 3) There comes a time when the company must pull everyone together, bring
them back to the beginning, and restart the process of getting things done (Reynolds, 2014). When the
level of conflict starts to threaten the cooperation of all members, it is time for the command staff to

Enron And Enron Of Enron
During the Enron debacle, it was workers who took the pounding, not bankers. Not only did Enron
employees lose their jobs, many lost their retirement savings. That s because they were at the bottom
of the investing food chain. In July of 1985, Houston Natural Gas merged with InterNorth, to create
Enron, and Kenneth Lay became CEO the following year. In 1989, Enron began trading natural gas
commodities. In 1997, Andrew Fastow devised the first steps to hide debts and inflate profits and one
year later, he was named the CFO of Enron. In the year 2000, shares of Enron reached a peak of $90.
Enron claimed $101 billion in revenues, and as a direct result of this, became the sixth largest energy
company in the world. After all of these rapid ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
During the West Coast power crisis, homes went dark and street lights were out in California, causing
injuries and accidents. But the danger didn t stop Enron s energy traders from having a good laugh.
Newly released evidence shows that years before the crisis, Enron schemed to manipulate markets.
The new tapes routinely recorded by Enron to protect their own deals, and later obtained by
Snohomish County Public Utility District Number 1, confirmed what had been constantly reported for
four years. Enron secretly shut down power plants so they could cause, and then cash in on, the crisis.
Power plant operators were coached on how to lie to officials. Enron also pulled power out of states
like California, causing emergency conditions to worsen. The shut downs and pull outs triggered sky
high power prices and when states complained, the traders instructed the states to leave them alone,
and let them make a little bit of money. When the schemes began to unravel, employees blamed the
men running Enron. Mark to market accounting was introduced by former Enron President and CEO,
Jeff Skilling. This allowed Enron to book potential future profits on the very day the deal was signed,
even if some states had yet to deregulate their power markets. No matter how little cash actually came
in the door, to the outside world, Enron s profits could be whatever Enron said they were. Enron s
former CFO, Andrew Fastow, had his eye on John Olson, one

  • 2. What Are Asics s Biggest Competitors In this portion of the report, I will conduct an analysis of Asics two biggest competitors, Adidas and Nike. In 2015, Asics stores totaled at 785 worldwide. These stores were located in the Americas, Japan, EMEA, East Asia, Southeast Asia, and the Oceania. In comparison, Nike had a total stores of 803 worldwide and Adidas doubled with a total of 1,616 stores according to ASICS company documents, NIKE, INC. 2016 Annual Report, and ADIDAS Group Annual Report 2015. Nike s sales have been a major indicator of their success in the footwear industry designating themselves as the number one competitor. Even with Asics developing three various style of shoes for every occasion, they have not been able to portray the brand image similar to the one Nike has established. Asics and Nike both developed shoes that appeal to athletes, runners, and fashion forward individuals that tailor to individuals looking firstmost for comfort. Nike targets over all major sports and casual wear. Since Nike and Asics both originally started as a shoe company, it still seems impossible for Asics to reach the numbers that Nike strikingly accumulates year after year. Ironically, when Nike first established themselves in 1964, they were purchasing Onitsuka Tiger shoes from Japan, the brand that Asics was originally known as. This image that Nike has built over time and the fact they began as a shoe company originally has made it Nike seem impenetrable to slow down by Under Armour. • 4. Megan Kanka Case Megan Kanka and several other children have been the reason for the safety of children around this country. I know that you re wondering in what way this person contributed to the safety of other children. Well Megan Kanko was a 7 years old child who was next door from a previously charged pedophile in Hamilton Township, New Jersey. The difference between then and now is that in the past there were no laws stating that pedophiles had to inform those who lived near them that they were there, of their past convictions, or even some type of registration available. This was the case of Megan Kanka s offender, Jesse Timmendequas. His record consisted of attempted aggravated sexual assault of a 5 year old girl in Piscataway, New Jersey, in 1979. He had pleaded guilty to the charges for attempted aggravated sexual assault. He was given a suspended sentence, but he failed to go to counseling, so he was forced to spend nine months at the Middlesex Adult Correctional Center. In 1981, he again pleaded guilty in regards to the sexual assault of a seven year old girl and was imprisoned, at Avenel, for six years. He s an example of a recidivist who was controlled and ... Taking into consideration that all aggregate data is used for self serving means, this number is still exceptionally large. The numbers are manufactured by propaganda vehicles, or rather the mainstream media. In a sort of Orwellian fashion, the media bombards the audience with images, voices, and memoirs of death, grief, and pain that pervert their way into public consciousness, creating a sort of group think. Such is the nature of the democratic beast. This concept of manufactured consent , a term coined by American journalist Walter Lippman, should come as no surprise considering that the media is a vehicle and a product of capitalism. The metaphor of money equals power has a large stake in the operations of the media. The news stations, newspapers, and radio stations are all controlled by a powerful elite; yet, the media themselves are huge profit seeking corporations. They are integrated into the market, and are thus subject to criticism and control by their stockholders. The stockholders want the bottom line, or in other words, what they want to hear. Money and power are the means through which the news is filtered, dissent is squelched, and political agenda is satisfied. In Noam Chomsky s work Manufacturing Consent, the relationship between objectivity and the media is explained. The elite domination of the media and marginalization of dissidents that results from the operation of these filters occurs so naturally that media news people, frequently operating with complete integrity and goodwill, are able to convince themselves that they choose and interpret the news objectively and on the basis of professional news values. This concept of objectivity is unable to exist in a nation so reliant on systematic bias. The symbiotic relationship between the media and the powerful elite makes it difficult for a reporter to cut of ties with those who ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

When his wife began to go to church he wasn t very pleased until after he saw the positive and attractive change in her. This is the start of his curiosity and investigation about Christianity. Next, Strobel writes about his interview with Bruce Metzger concerning the reliability of the text in the New Testament. Since the original books of the New Testament was lost, how do we know that the copied text is identical to the memo? According to Metzger, the more often you have copies that agree with each other, especially if they emerge from different geographical areas, the more you can cross check them to figure out what the original document was like (p. 76). Also, Strobel asked Metzger why some books weren t included in the New Testament and his response was that the church did want to portray such pictures of Jesus in the canon, that the church only wanted the New Testament to contain only the best historical stories of Jesus. The next scholar interviewed was Edwin Yamauchi. He was asked about additional biblical proof that confirms the New Testament but he was not very convincing. The question for Strobel s fourth interview was whether archeology increased or decreased the New Testaments reliability. Three New Testament statements are entirely unsupported by archaeology. First, the three hours of worldwide darkness during the crucifixion (Mark 15:33). Second, the resurrection of the saints, and their following appearance to many in Jerusalem (Matthew 27:52 53). The first element is the salary criteria for the employees (Vogel et al., 2007). The Non exempt personnel must be rewarded for the hours they work overtime; the normal working hours for these employees are forty hours in a week. • 12. The Effects Of Antidepressant Pills On Teenagers And... Jacqueline Mendez Mrs. Kehrmeyer AP English 9 February 2016 Teenagers and Antidepressants In recent discussions of antidepressant pills a controversial issue has been whether doctors should prescribe antidepressants to teenagers. Antidepressant pills are prescribed to individuals who suffer from a condition called Major Depression Disorder, labeled MDD for abbreviation. Major Depressive Disorder is a mental disorder characterized by a pervasive and persistent low mood that is accompanied by low self esteem and by loss of interest or pleasure in normally enjoyable activities. The objectives of antidepressant pills are to stabilize, and normalize the abnormal low levels of brain chemicals for those who suffer from MDD. On the other hand, some argue that antidepressants are harmful and do a disadvantage to teenagers, therefore should not be prescribed to them. However, others argue that the pills are not harmful and in some cases the strong need of antidepressants outweigh the risks the pills might provide. Antidepressants prevent teenagers from recuperating on their own and prevents them from learning how to cope with conflicts thus, they should not be prescribed. Depression results in symptoms such as sadness, it affects a person s emotions and leads to both emotional and physical problems. The antidepressant pills are meant to help the brain recuperate and adjust to normality. The reason why people reconsider taking the pills in the first place is ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Sometimes she is backstabbed by friends and sometimes she is openly scorned by others. What we do not realise, is she is not the only one, or maybe we do not want to accept it. Research positions us at first place on the podium of promiscuity. Why are we such a promiscuous nation? What risks are we bringing upon ourselves? Are we all nomads in the land of sexuality? Perhaps it is our loose lifestyles, or when growing up we are faced with confusion. Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... This may result in a decrease of promiscuity, as the new generations self esteems will be healthier. For young people I believe the confusion they are faced with when growing up may play a part. Maybe the transition into adulthood makes young people think they need to start being sexually active. They may become desperate to feel belonging or companionship. These feelings could be likened to those of Holden Caulfield the main character and protagonist of The Catcher in the Rye by J. D. Salinger. Throughout the novel Holden is on a seesaw between being a child and being an adult. One of the issues that surface for him is that of having sex. At one point in the novel Holden is faced with the opportunity I kept hoping she d be good looking. I didn t care too much, though. I sort of just wanted to get it over with. This shows Holden s feelings towards sex. Under these circumstances sex has no signs of intimacy or fun. It is almost as if sex is an opportunity for him to grow up . Maybe it is simply a rite of passage. It worries me that this may be the reason for some young people being promiscuous. If they think becoming an adult means they must do this they are obviously not mature enough yet and still need time to grow up. The statistics produced by a condom maker labels New Zealand women as the most promiscuous in the world with an average of 20.3 sexual partners. Christian Perspective And Worldview Essay Session One Response Journal Explain how a Christian s perspective and worldview could be a valuable asset to an organization that uses statistics on a regular basis. My first inclination, and easy answer here, is to make a statement that a Christian perspective and worldview would be valuable to any organization. An organization centered on principles and teaching of the bible would operate with integrity, and accountability. The difficult part is translating that specifically to the area of statistics. How can you relate Christian beliefs, and values to mathematics? As Christians do we think differently about numbers and data? • 17. Anatomy Of Hell Analysis Catherine Breillat is another filmmaker that criticizes the aesthetics and societal demands to fit into the norms of femininity and the burden it brings to the female sex. In her film, Anatomy of Hell, she indulges in taboos and the society s indifference towards the female sex to shine a light on the traditional and oppressive views of the female body and human sexuality. She explicitly explores the depths of the female s sex and indulges in the men s view of the female body and the feelings it brings about. The film follows a man and a woman in a four day exploration of women s sexuality in a secluded home where the woman is in her most vulnerable stage (nudity) in hopes of understanding how men view women. The film opens up with her in a gay club where she is openly isolated as the only woman and excluded in her otherness. She is surrounded by men on men sexual activity through kissing, dancing, and oral stimulation. The scene overwhelming indulges in the isolation of women in their femininity and thus becomes a metaphor for women s place in the world and society. Their appearance is viewed as that of Other where they can not appear and move in the same way as men and this scene explicitly shows how excluded women feel from public space in a society dominated by man. The woman enters this scene and feels overwhelmed by the masculinity surrounding her and the inferiority imposed on her through their immense presence, so she goes to the bathroom where she brushes past a man who actually sees her. She sees him the way he sees her and goes to commit suicide. In an interview with Breillat, she states More than desire, she is looking for her sexual identity, for her self. For her, he is a kind of image. It s not a club for homosexuals, it s a club where men come together, men who don t like women, and there are many places on the planet where men don t like women. It s an allegory (Kevin Murphy, Hell s Angels: An Interview with Catherine Breillat on Anatomy of Hell). Being in a room surrounded by men that hate her, she goes to end her life. In the novel, Brave New World, the motto is: Community, Identity, and Stability. (1)This motto is very satirical due to the scientific advancement identifying who people are and who they associate with and the humans are far from stable. Aldous Huxley portrays the political and social issues in the novel by using imagery, diction, and allusions to bring a connection to similar hardships in1930 s. Imagery is used a lot throughout Brave New World especially in the form of comparing humans to animals. It is repeatedly stated strait from the horse s mouth , and when foster says that any cow could merely hatch out embryos.(1) Another example, is how humans are born in hatcheries rather than hospitals. There is also fertilizing rooms for humans, that process would normally happen with plants. Animals are usually under control and are conditioned to act right just like humans in this society. It s as if the government is the owners and all the people are the pets. Huxley seems to be dehumanizing the people of the world state. In Germany Hitler was in some way dehumanizing the Jews and they were being treated like animals and being controlled. The way we handle the different stresses of life can either greatly improve our quality of life or harm it. There are two forms of coping with stress and the first is problem focused coping. This form of coping is aimed at managing or correcting the distressing situation (Coon, Psychology: modules for active learning). Examples Of Overcoming Nihilism Overcoming Nihilism according to Nietzsche In this paper, I will explore Nietzsche s considerations towards nihilism and the philosopher s views on overcoming it. My conclusion is that Nietzsche s strategy of overcoming nihilism is indeed viable and a potential to be successful given the pragmatic nature of the individual. I will investigate further on the reasons why this is the case. My assumptions in examples below are based on an application of the Nietzsche s solution on a reasonably mentally stable individual. First, let s assume Friedrich Nietzsche s definition of nihilism. According to Nietzsche: 1) Every belief, every considering something true, is necessarily false because there simply is no true world . ...That there is no truth, that there is no absolute nature of things nor a thing in itself. (Will to Power) 2) [Nihilism] ...places the value of things precisely in the lack of any reality corresponding to these values and in their being merely a symptom of strength on the part of the value positers, a simplification for the sake of life. (Will to Power) Therefore, an individual must accept absolute nihilism where there is no pre determined higher meaning to life, no goals an individual is destined to achieve and no social constructs to follow. Building upon this argument, Nietzsche elaborates in Will to Power that Nihilism is . . . not only the belief that everything deserves to perish; but one actually puts one s shoulder to the plough; one destroys . ... • 38. Comparison of Medtronic s Financial Statements to Baxter s... Medtronic s Ratings Earning Power I would rank Medtronic s earning power at a 9 on a scale of 1 (very weak) to 10 (very strong). Medtronic has successfully demonstrated their ability to grow and provide substantial return to their owners. Medtronic s net earnings have steadily increased from $984.0 million in 2002, to $1599.8 million in 2003, to $1959.3 million in 2004. Their total assets have increased 13.7% from $12,405.5 million in 2003 to $14,110.8 million in 2004. These measures show that Medtronic has been successful in generating profits and increasing their net assets. These measures have steadily been increasing and therefore this type of progress can reasonably be expected to persist in the future. Total liabilities ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... This account only made up 8% of the current liabilities for this year. These two facts show that the accounts payable does not seem to be a significant form of financing. The company is not relying heavily upon accounts receivable and is probably not having a difficult time generating cash to pay to suppliers. One last measure used to determine the ranking provided for Medtronic s solvency was the debt/equity ratio. Using this ratio, we see that the average total liabilities only make up 56% of the total Stockholder s equity. This shows that the company s debt is bout half of the company s total book value. All of these measures are consistent with the idea that Medtronic is able to produce cash to meet debts as they come due. If the current and quick ratio proved that the company was carrying a large percentage of current assets as compared to current liabilities, and if the debt didn t make up a majority of the stockholder s equity, the ranking would have been higher. Earning Quality and Persistence When ranking Medtronic s earning quality and persistence I would give the company a ranking of 8 on a scale of 1 to 10. Net operating income is considered to be made up of usual and frequent activities and is therefore considered to be persistent. This has steadily increased over the past three years and can reasonably be expected to continue in the future. In 2002, the amount was $1590.2 million, ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Fingerprints, Dental, And Dna Reference Material RADIOLOGIC IDENTIFICATION Though antemortem fingerprints, dental, and DNA reference material are thought to be fairly easy to obtain, this is not always the case (Christensen Hatch, 2014). Many times DNA is not available and a body may be dismembered or so badly burned or decomposed that soft tissue features such as the face and fingerprints are not available for comparison. In cases like this, forensic radiology can serve as an extremely reliable identification tool and has long been used to establish identity when more traditional methods of identification are not possible (Christensen Hatch, 2014; Brogdon, 1998). The most common identification technique used by forensic anthropologists, radiographic comparison involves the side by side or superimposed comparison of skeletal traits using antemortem and postmortem radiographs (Brogdon, 1998). Forensic radiologists and investigators agree that, many parts of the human skeleton can serve as bony prints of the identification of human remains, and in certain respects bones have a uniqueness similar to that of footprints (Atkins, 1978). Historically, radiographic comparisons used plain film radiology, however, over the last 30 years the use of and reliance on medical imaging has increased significantly (Christensen Hatch, 2014). The new tapes routinely recorded by Enron to protect their own deals, and later obtained by Snohomish County Public Utility District Number 1, confirmed what had been constantly reported for four years. Enron secretly shut down power plants so they could cause, and then cash in on, the crisis. Power plant operators were coached on how to lie to officials.
