My First Impression Of Bafa Bafa After Hearing The Rules
Bafa Bafa Reflection My first impression of Bafa Bafa after hearing the rules was that it would be an
enjoyable class activity. Little did I know, that the activity would go much deeper than just being a
class activity. Bafa Bafa simulates the human interactions in the world as we know it. It teaches a
lesson of diversities and miscommunications between them. It permits everyone and anyone to
experience the notion of being foreign or an outcast . In Bafa Bafa, I was a part of the Alpha culture.
In order to collaborate with my classmates, I had to dim my strong feminist attitude in order to play
along in the patriarch culture. I wasn t particularly phased by the close proximity and close contact
interactions as these were already engrained in me. I quickly realized that a connection was forming
between the students that were forming the Alpha culture. Whether this was due to close interactions
or passion of playing an act, I do not know, but the feeling of membership was strong and present. The
rules were even well tolerated and respected, as no deviants were actually really present in the group. I
was observing and becoming part of an in group mentality as referred to in Psychology. I was an
Alpha and by God, I will play this game well and right to be a really good Alpha. My mentality went
from being a class member of EDU 150 to being a member of culture Alpha. I also noticed a change in
regards to culture Beta, my other classmates from EDU 150. When presented at

The Dangers Of Cell Phone Use While Driving
Introduction In the United States, there are many states and cities that have passed laws where
individuals should not use hand held phones or text while driving, however, none of these laws
actually restricts a person from using a phone while driving. The National Safety Council reported that
each year an estimated of 1.6 million car crashes are due to people using their cell phones while
driving (Texting and Driving Accident Statistics, 2017). One of the biggest reasons that car accidents
occurs is because the driver was not paying attention to the road and the things around them. There are
many things that can distract a person while they are driving, such as; using the navigation, eating,
drinking, playing with the radio, talking on the phone, and even texting. In a single day, approximately
660,000 drivers habitually use their cell phone while they are driving (Texting and Driving Accident
Statistics, 2017). This is why the nonprofit organization known as FocusDriven, has been so devoted
and passionate about banning the use of cell phones while driving and fighting to make it be illegal
and unacceptable in the eyes of the law. As an advocate, this paper is a policy proposal which includes
research studies showing data that supports why cell phone use while driving should be banned and
possible solutions to take the necessary steps in order to prevent drivers from becoming distracted and
hopefully reducing the number of car crashes and fatalities caused by cell

The Power Of The Dog Rudyard Kipling
Many dog owners would agree that there are many benefits to having a dog in their life. Throughout
time there have been multiple works of creativity that expresses the multiple benefits and risks of
owning a dog. One poem, in particular by Rudyard Kipling titled The Power of the Dog (Rudyard
Kipling)explains a sentiment that most pet owners would agree with. Kipling explains his attitude of
being able to have owned a dog in his life and the effect that having a addition to your life in the form
of a dog. Kipling s strong sense of emotion and passion truly drives his need of choosing to write this
piece. The reader follows through with a strong sense of sympathy for the hurt that Kipling chose to
express in this work.
Rudyard Kipling was an Indian poet who was born into a family of wealth and prosperity in 1865. He
was later sent to live in England when he was five years old to live with a foster family. He did not
enjoy his living arrangement in his foster home and the experiences that he went through helped to
give him inspiration later on in life in his writings. He later went to college at the age of 12. He is well
known in the world of poetry for his use of descriptive imagery and relatability. (Kipling Society)
Kipling won the Nobel Prize for literature in 1907.Shortly after his death in 1936, his work began a
slow decline of being neglected due to his unpopular political views that were very present in his
multiple works. (Poetry Foundation)
In this poem, in particular, Kipling explains that Buy a pup and your money will buy,/
Love unflinching that cannot lie. (Kipling 7 8) this piece of art can be interpreted in very few ways.
The common understanding after reading this poem is that dogs are loyal to humans as long as the
humans are loyal to them. The golden rule: do onto others as you would like to be done to you, comes
into full effect or correlation with Kipling s ideas in this work. He goes on to explain the hardships
that may follow when a family loses a dog in their lifetime. He writes that
When the fourteen years which nature permits
Are closing in asthma, or tumour, or fits
And the vet s unspoken prescription runs
To lethal chambers or loaded guns,
Then you will find it s your own

Political Economy and the Propaganda Model of Noam Chomsky
Using one of the case studies outlined by Chomsky amp; Herman in Manufacturing Consent The
Political Economy of the Mass Media , critically assess the main propositions put forward in their
analysis of the mass media. Is the Propaganda Model still relevant today?
Noam Chomsky along with Edward Herman has developed the Propaganda Model of the media

use the media to propagandise their own interests behind a mask of objective news reporting. Herman
and Chomsky expound this analysis in their book Manufacturing Consent: The Political Economy of

Drug Use In The 1960s Essay
The 1960s were infamous for illegal drug use; hippies smoked marijuana, people in the ghettos used
heroin, it seemed as if everyone was doing drugs. As the newly elected president, John F. Kennedy
had high hopes in solving many of the nation s problems. Many Americans saw themselves standing
on the rise of a golden age at the start of the decade. However, the 1960s became an era of political
unrest, and it seemed the country was falling apart by the end of the decade. The utilization of drugs
became part of the counterculture and social uprising. Drug usage during the 1960s contributed to the
turmoil of the era due to the ease of access, the motivation for usage, and the prevalence of it in the
counterculture.
At the time, drugs were popular, and they could be easily accessed by anyone. Through the course of
the decade, lysergic acid diethylamide (LSD) was not illegal, so people got in no trouble for using it.
Drugs like LSD were dosed to people for experiments and researching purposes ( 1960 1944. 11).
Because it was not illegal, many people used it. It was used for medical purposes by the hippies, and a
hallucinogen activist, like Timothy Leary, used it to study psychology. He even became famous for it
and was known as LSD guru. There was no authority over the drugs, so people were able to use it
freely. Another problem with having unrestricted drugs led to doctors prescribing non FDA approved
drugs to patients. Patients with cancer, especially those who have

Physical Beauty Vs Inner Beauty
Beauty can be defined in multiple diverse ways. To each person beauty is perceived in their own way.
Beauty can be broken down into two categories: physical beauty and inner beauty. Physical beauty is
the appearance of an individual. Society today has placed physical beauty on a very high pedestal.
Now teenagers focus so much of their lives trying to be physically beautiful to amount to what the
world or society says they should be, instead of focusing on their inner beauty. Inner beauty is the
attitude or personality of an individual. Inner beauty has been pushed to the curb so that one may
reach their full potential of physical beauty. To some individuals, physical beauty may be more
important, but to others inner beauty becomes the standard of being beautiful. Although physical
beauty and inner beauty may seem similar they are in fact quite different in ways such as the
definition, qualities, and effects on society. The definition of beauty varies from person to person.
Dictionary.com defines beauty as, the quality present in a thing or person that gives intense pleasure or
deep satisfaction to the mind, whether arising from sensory manifestations (as shape, color, sound,
etc.), a meaningful design or pattern, or something else (as a personality in which high spiritual
qualities are manifest). This definition may also help an individual understand that there are two types
of beauty, physical beauty and inner beauty. Some individuals may not realize that there

The Federal Reserve And Central Banking System
Edith Deras Fraijo
Mr. Lauer
Economics
November 9, 2015
The Federal Reserve The Federal Reserve is the main banking system in the United States. It has 12
regional banks around the nation, its headquarters being located in Washington DC. The Federal
Reserve (better known as the Fed) was established in 1913 by Congress in order to provide the nation
with a safer, more flexible, and more stable monetary and financial system (federalreserve.gov).
Although the Fed was created over a century ago, it is still a major influence in the banking systems
today. The concept alone of a central banking system has been around long before the Federal Reserve
Act of 1913 was passed. In 1791, Treasury Secretary Alexander Hamilton encouraged Congress to
create the First Bank of the United States. Several Americans opposed of it, as they felt somewhat
uncomfortable of one bank having all the power. After the bank s 20 year term in 1811, Congress
decided not to renew it by merely one vote. Afterwards there have been multiple other attempts to
create a central bank, but they have never succeeded in the long run. That is until The Federal Reserve
Act of 1913. President Woodrow Wilson was the one who passed the famous Federal Reserve Act of
1913. If it had not been for the passing of this law, the United States may have never had a central
bank, which is a vital part of our economy. The Fed is the thing that fixes our economy. Whether we
like it or not, it will

The Iraq Iran War And State Security
The Iraq Iran War and State Security With Iraq initiating the conflict, with its declaration of war on
September 22, 1980 and the subsequent invasion of the Khuzestan province, they will be treated as the
aggressor. Therefore the theoretical framework will revolve predominantly around Iraq. With this
Posen s components of the security dilemma will be used as the building blocks for state security s
explanation of the conflict, beginning with the indistinguishability of offense and defense. As
previously stated, determining the motives or intentions of states are difficult and near impossible to
do with any certainty. Iraq would make their intentions known with the psychological and material
actions of the Ba athist party and Saddam Hussein. It is important to once again look briefly look at
previous actions to attempt a dissection. From 1974 1978 the Kurds in Northern Iraq were revolting
against Ba athist rule, as they were being terrorized and displaced during the military crackdown.
Despite Iran s inability to determine the motivation behind Iraq s actions, and the potential effect on
their state, they decide to take action. The attacks on the Kurds were viewed as an attempt at a power
build up, through their attempt to push Kurds out of Iraq into lower Iran. Iran viewed this as an
attempt to strain their government and resources with the forced exile of an unwanted faction of their
country. In an attempt to protect their interests and procure a secure state, Iran sends

Love Stories In Disney
Since 1937, Disney films have been ruining the lives of children. From ideas like raising the dead with
love or receiving advice from talking animals. Disney is turning society into idiots. The corporation,
Disney manipulates children into gullible idiots through their own imaginations with unrealistic love
stories, absences of science and morals of good versus evil. Although love is seen as ideal in society,
Disney has warped it into a classic boy saves girl. This is a universal theme for most classic Disney
films such as Cinderella, Rapunzel, Snow White, etc. Moreover, Disney has used saving damsels in
distress to captivate its audience. Thus creating these unimaginable love stories. For example, a prince
searches for the maiden Cinderella after she drops her glass slipper (Cinderella). In normal society
men would hardly go to such extents. However, Disney has yet to dabble in the art of same sex love
stories, still they feel beastility works. Hence The Beauty and the Beast. These ideas have been ruining
how women, especially little girls see their happy ever after. Disney s love stories always carry some
magic element to them thus making them even more unrealistic. Often in Disney films, the use of
magic is emphasised to add to the plot line, such as genies, fairy godmothers, shapeshifting, true love s
kiss, and so on. Magic takes the science out of the film thus making the children watching, have
overly complex imaginations that do not fit reality. They will

Courage Is The Preservation Of A Moral Knowledge

Knowledge is Power...and Apparently Knowledge is Courage Too We can t do it... We re gonna be in
the Hudson. These were Captain Chesley B. Sully Sullenberger s unforgettable words on 15 January
2009, just minutes before he miraculously landed US Airways Flight 1549 in the Hudson River after
losing both engines due to multiple bird strikes two minutes after takeoff (US). Due to the extensive
training, considerable flying time, and the experience as a glider pilot held by Sully, many today
would claim that Sully was not courageous but rather experienced and prepared. For these exact same
reasons, however, Socrates would vigorously proclaim Sully s courage. To Socrates, ... Show more

The interesting part about Socrates definition is that it hinges on knowledge. Socrates would not call a
child who is deathly afraid of heights yet still climbs a stable platform courageous. By Socrates
definition of courage, one must understand what is worthy of apprehension this understanding is
gained through wisdom. Socrates attributes courage to the component of the human being he labels
the spirit, but he links courage to wisdom. When the spirit preserves through pains and pleasures the
pronouncements of reason about what should inspire terror and what should not, the individual would
be deemed courageous (442b13 c3). It is important to note that those pronouncements stem from
wisdom without the wisdom to correctly judge things as worthy of terror or not, courage is impossible.
The kind of wisdom Socrates associates with courage knows what things should be feared and what
things should be faced with confidence. Jumping in front of a train to save somebody can wisely be
faced with confidence because the cause is just. The emphasis is on what the person risks compared to
what that person is aiming at, what is more noble. The wisdom and knowledge associated with
wisdom are oriented about that comparison. Socrates states it is imperative that one s correct beliefs of
what should and should not inspire terror must be unwavering unaffected by pleasures, pains,
appetites, or fears (429c12 13). This introduces a subtle element of Socrates definition of courage:

Introduction Mr. Holland s Opus is a 1995 American drama film directed by Stephen Herek. It stars

the eponymous lead character, Glenn Holland, as a music teacher at the fictional John F. Kennedy

Iris willingly learns American Sign Language to communicate with her son but Glenn resists. This
causes further estrangement within the family. Through three decades, Mr. Holland is closer to
students at John F. Kennedy High School than he is to his own son. He addresses a series of
challenges created by people who are either skeptical of or hostile towards the idea of musical
excellence within the walls of a typical middle class American high school. He inspires many students
and but never has private time for himself or his family, forever delaying the composition of his own
orchestral composition. Ultimately, he reaches an age when it is too late to realistically find financial
backing or ever have it performed. In 1995, the adversaries of the Kennedy High music program win a
decisive institutional victory. Holland s longtime adversary Wolters, promoted to school principal
when Jacobs retires, works with the school board to eliminate music in the name of necessary budget
cuts, thereby leading to Mr. Holland s ignominious dismissal at the age of 60. Glenn is a realist who
realizes that his working life is over. He believes that his former students have mostly forgotten him.
On his final day as a teacher, the despairing Mr. Holland is led to the school auditorium, where his
professional life is surprisingly redeemed. Hearing that their beloved

The Political And Legal Aspects Of International Marketing
The Political and Legal Aspects in Relation to Domestic and International Environment of Halal
Products Submitted by: Jessa Loreta Billano, 1338020 Submitted to: Dr. Syed M. Ahmed 10 August
2016 Executive Summary The advent of globalisation in the last two decades had an immense impact
to the political and legal environments which are essential aspects in international marketing. As there
is no existing single political and legal environment because of its complexity on a variety of levels,
the political and legal environment will be referred to as one concept in this paper. The political and
legal aspects will be discussed in relation to the domestic and international environment. In order to
have a grasp of the factors at play, this paper will use the Islamic law s enforcement of halal
regulations as an example. This paper will highlight the issues in the domestic environment such as
social and environmental concerns, intellectual property rights, and export and import controls. It will
also show how the absence of a unified halal standard in the international level magnifies the
importance to be aware of domestic certification bodies and unstable domestic laws and regulations.

The Security Environment That Is Shaping The Joint Force...
The security environment that is shaping the Joint Force 2025 (JF25) is incredibly complex and
rapidly evolving. Challengers to security and stability include two aggressive competing powers
(China and Russia), two nuclear capable regional hegemons (North Korea and Iran), and a persistent
threat of terrorism to the homeland. The global commons are contested and access to the space and
cyber domains are no longer guaranteed. Fiscal constraints limit the available means for the Joint
Force (JF) to meet these challenges and therefore increases risk to accomplishing the national military
objectives.
Despite the complexity of this environment and fiscal austerity, the JF25 must protect our Nation and
win our wars. It must deter and defeat state adversaries, disrupt and defeat terrorist organizations, and
strengthen the global network of allies and partners. The prioritized capabilities required for Joint
Force 2025 are linked to the imperatives of securing the homeland and maintaining strategic agility.
This essay discusses general attributes of the JF, specific capability requirements by service, and the
risk associated with focusing the rebalance on these two imperatives.
Strategic guidance on the general attributes of JF25 is provided in the Quadrennial Defense Review
(QDR) and National Military Strategy (NMS). An important attribute is the ability to rapidly project
military power to deter challengers and win decisively. Rapid force projection is central

A Brief Note On Diabetes And Its Effects On Diabetes Essay
Diabetes Policy This paper focuses on people with diabetes. Diabetes occurs when there is impaired
ability by the pancreas to produce enough insulin, or the body loses its ability to utilize the insulin
produced by pancreas effectively. Consequently, the body fails to regulate the level of glucose in the
blood. The failure to control glucose leads to episodes of hyperglycemia, especially after a meal.
Diabetes is one of the chronic conditions that account for the largest morbidity rates globally.
According to the Centres for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) (2015), approximately 29.1
million people living in the United States had diabetes. Out of this number, about 21.0 million people
were diagnosed. The remaining 8.1 million cases were undiagnosed. According to the World Health
Organization (2016), the prevalence of diabetes among adults aged over 18 years was 8.5% in 2014.
The prevalence had increased from 4.7% in 1980 to 8.5% in 2014. The increased has been most
significant among the middle and low income countries. This has mostly been explained by the
changes in income distribution in those countries. In other words, the proportion of people who have
had an increase of revenue has increased significantly in the middle and low income countries. People
with diabetes lack the ability to regulate the level of glucose in the blood. Consequently, whenever
they eat, their blood glucose level rises above the normal maximum limit leading to hyperglycemia.

Rape And Sexual Assault In Game Of Thrones
The use of rape and sexual assault as a dramatic plot device in contemporary film and television can
turn out to be either highly successful or highly problematic for those involved and their viewers.
In many television shows of the 2010 s, most notably American Horror Story, these unspeakable acts
seem to employed as a form of light entertainment. A plot device, if you will. With seemingly no
direct link to the story being told or effect on what follows after. Similarly, Game of Thrones has
suffered mass criticism since it s premier back in 2011. However, the writers of GOT still vehemently
defend their choice of representation of rape and sexual assault crimes, stating that it is, and was, a
part of everyday life back in medieval times.
Comparing these small screen representations to those on the silver screen, it could be surmised that
rape and sexual assault in film is a more thought out process. Television writers are expected to turn
out numerous storylines throughout series and never seem to dwell on the one plotline for too long.
This very well may be why its representations of rape and sexual assault are so heavily criticised, as

survival, how to hunt and catch food. In a short period of time, that fawn is released into the wild on

Animals raise their young to survive on their own by means of hunting and keeping themselves

A Scientific Theory Of Consciousness
Whether a scientific theory of consciousness could be provided requires the theory to account for
properties of sensations. Place thinks some philosophers struggle to accept a scientific theory by
falling for the phenomenological fallacy. Some have posited descriptions of experience lye within the
mental cinema (pg. 49). Place characterized the fallacy of thinking that when we perceive something
green we are perceiving something green in the mind as the phenomenological fallacy . He writes, if
we assume, for example, that when a subject reports a green after image he is asserting the occurrence
inside himself of an object which is literally green, it is clear that we have on our hands an entity for
which there is no place in the world of physics. He proposes the descriptions of green after images are
descriptions of a sort of normal response in contexts involving green light.
In Sensations are Brain Processes , J.J.C Smart argues that in so far as a sensation statement is a report
of something, that something is in fact a brain process (Smart 1959 145). The Sensation Brain Process
Identity Theory states: For any type of sensation state S , there is a type of brain state B such that: S =
B . In defense of this thesis Smart clears up Place s identity distinction with his sense of strict identity.
S and B are strictly identical when S and B are two names for a single object.

Music Compare and Contrast
Since the beginning of time, many bands and artists have helped shape the way people live. Thirty
Seconds to Mars, with lead singer Jared Leto, is a very successful pop rock band. Starting in 1998, the
members of this band did not have it easy. Neither did Ludwig van Beethoven who grew to be one of
the most successful composers of all time. Taking in the world and challenges around them, both of
these artists overcame many obstacles to become what they are known for. Their fans have followed
and have been inspired by them. The band Thirty Seconds to Mars and Ludwig van Beethoven came
from two different eras and have rough times in their youth but overcame to succeed in the music

When Mozart saw him perform he exclaimed, Keep your eyes on him; some day he will give the
world something to talk about. This great artist was right, but shortly after coming to Vienna,
Beethoven rushed back home for his mother fell ill. She died a few months later which sent her son
into depression. The depression however, did not last and Beethoven continued carrying on as a young
musician. In 1790, Beethoven, just 19 years old, received a remarkable honor of composing a musical
memorial for the death of the Holy Roman Emperor Joseph II. With no reasons known, this piece was
never played. However, more than a century later, Johannes Brahms discovered that Beethoven had in
fact composed a beautiful and noble piece of music entitled Cantata on the Death of Emperor Joseph
II. It is now considered his earliest masterpiece ( Biography ). Just under two decades old, this man
was pronouncing himself in the world. As Mozart said before, he was giving the world amazing music
to talk about. It took the band Thirty Seconds to Mars and lead singer, Jared Leto a little longer to give
the modern day world music to talk about. The band took a year to find a studio to support them. In
1998, the band signed a contract with Immortal and Virgin. Their first album was set to be released in
2002, but before that the band, Puddle of Mud, asked for them to join their six week tour around the
country in the spring. Thirty Seconds

Rincon Case 4
Friday I brought you a problem, today I would like to bring you a potential way forward.
The impact of overhead
As it stands right now the push back on reducing overhead support costs comes from a general
request. I do not believe that there is an understanding from the various business units on the costs of
utilizing support resource as it is largely untracked. By measuring Business Unit support resource
usage we can determine where our resources are being spent, and also bring this information up to the
VP level. This can provide insight to future decisions on how to create contracts and charge projects
effectively for support resources.
When dealing with overhead there are three ways that I understand that effectively reduce overhead
spending percentages.

Corporate Budget All costs go to overhead.
There are pros and cons to each model if you are interested in discussing the merits of each more
directly. When a portion of these methods are combined they are referred to as a federated model,
which is how Rincon operates today.
How Rincon currently operates
Rincon IT operates in a federated model with a combination of chargeback and corporate budgeting.
Moving forward we need to have an understood direction on how to effectively and consistently
handing our resource spending and allocation.
Methods for funding and work authorization
I have identified 5 potential options on how resources can be allocated and funded moving forward.
Due to the nature of our functional areas of expertise in CSG a hybrid of the above options could also
be considered. Each of these depend on the authority and direct support from the role of the CEO.
Treat IT as a cost across the board.
All efforts go directly to overhead.

The Las Vegas Metro area now encompasses a population of nearly 2 million, and is still growing. IT
has its economic downturns as the rest of the country also does, yet it seems to bounce back as much
of the revenue coming through this area is transient from elsewhere. Las Vegas as of recently has
developed into more of a family friendly location complete with Amusement theme parks, water parks
and outdoor activities for children. It is this atmosphere we are tapping into, with our devotion to
amusement and excitement with a boardwalk relaxing atmosphere.
Economic feasibility and Market
With the aforementioned nearly 40 million tourists last year bringing with them their 9.5 Billion in
gambling revenue, along with other spending capital it is only logical to use this location as a prime
target location for our boardwalk concept. The tourism industry has recovered pleasantly from the
most recent recession and Las Vegas has shot back into action with three additional planned themed
resort casinos being built on or near the Las Vegas Strip within the next 5 years. The competition is
booming and with it comes a necessity for action. The future expansion planning within the Las Vegas
Area calls for additional development of highway roads, as well as further expansion of the current
monorail system within the strip downtown gambling corridor leaving more expansion available to the
surrounding areas. Our Lakeside resort is

Why We Need Healthcare Reform in America Essay
The American Healthcare industry is in dire need of repair. Not only is it in need or repair, the
American public needs to know why and what exactly it is that needs to be repaired. Most Americans
who have healthcare coverage don t know or understand what their coverage entails. On November 8,
2009, the house passed H.R. 3962, which establishes standards for healthcare and health insurance, as
well as a government provided public option for those who can t afford coverage. Politicians are so
divided on the issue that conservatives have promised to block passage of the bill through the senate

2007, the number of underinsured persons was up to an estimated 25 million; up 60 percent from
2003. (Schoen) This means that, all over the nation, there are more underinsured than unemployed. 25
million people in 2007 means that 12 out of every 100 people in this country are potentially unable to
find the medical treatment they may require. It s not just those who are out of work that, for whatever
reason, do not have adequate health coverage. Many small businesses can t afford to supply coverage
to their employees, and larger corporations are moving away from the group plans they used to

Patients in the United States pay more for less with the current healthcare system. They spend more
money on less care than any other developed nation. Not only are they paying for less care, they are
paying more money for a lower standard than every other industrialized nation. Every country has a
different system of healthcare, most of which are better than the current system used by the United

Comparatively, health care coverage costs more for the middle class and provides less coverage than
that of upper class or poverty level patients. When insurance is offered, it is becoming increasingly

John Renfro Servant Leadership
Part 2 Leadership Review
Pastor Renfro, as he is known by those who have had the pleasure to meet him, defines servant
leadership as one of the many models of ministry, each of which describes how a particular minister
understands his/her role and approach to ministry as a vocation, and a way of life. Dr. John Renfro is
currently senior chaplain at Conway Medical Center in Conway, South Carolina. He grew up in
simple, rural South Carolina in Spartanburg County, and he benefitted from a family who had a
personal deep connection with God. His simplistic beginning provides the anchor of stability in a
turbulent world for his family and those whom he offers ministry. Pastor Renfro has felt that ministry
grows out of life, the life of an ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
We need to be with people where they are without the need to fix them, rather, trusting God to do what
He is doing in their lives, hoping that He uses me as part of the process. I know that I will be learning
and growing with those whom God sends me. Pastor Renfro was then asked how has he evolved or
grown as a servant leader. He responded, Each of us follows a circuitous, sometimes difficult pathway
in ministry, we learn, we grow, we become more aware of ourselves as people and as ministers. I am a
country preacher, and although I have a wealth of formal education and training, I continue to grow
and evolve daily, as a person, and as a minister. Renfro continues, the most difficult thing to overcome
is our own tendency to be ostentatious a lack of genuineness and openness; you need to go deep in
faith and in ministry; my own history, as a country preacher, took a great deal of energy to integrate
and allow this to be my greatest strength. When asked what he believed are the
advantages/disadvantages of being a servant leader, Renfro responded, a strength and advantage
would be to possess a non judgmental presence, to allow people to be the who, what, and where they
need to be in our encounters; the disadvantage in that is some people might consider this position as
too indeterminate, lacking in absolutes. Renfro commented on the partnerships he has forged in his
life of servant leadership, starting with being a Clinical Pastor Supervisor (certified to teach at the
graduate level), a Diplomate of the College of Pastoral Supervision, a nationally certified Professional
Chaplain by the Association of Professional Chaplains, and also an Ordained Bishop in the Church of

Young People Concert Essay
Concerts are music performances in front of a live audience. Concerts usually are performed by an
orchestra, band, or choral ensemble. The concert discussed for the purpose of this paper is the Young
People s Concerts under the musical direction of Leonard Bernstein. The performance in the Young
People s Concert is performed in front of a crowd of younger people to learn. The concert is

piece. Bernstein first explains what piece is going to be performed, a brief education of the title, why
the original composer, Holt, chose it, and the instruments that are used in each section. This gives the
young listener a chance to take in information about what they about to hear. For instance, Mars,
which Leonard Bernstein describes as musical entertainment, is performed using the flute, oboe, and
the organ among others. This creates a very lurid and eerie sound. The concert uses six horns instead
of the normal four, and a whole raft of percussion. The third and fourth sections, Mercury, and Jupiter,
are performed together without an interruption. Mercury is written with two keys and rhythms all at
once. This creates a double dealing

Puritan Influence On New England
Starting in the early 1600s, the first significant non Spanish colonizers began finding their way to the
coasts north of the where the Christopher Columbus had first appeared in North America, mainly in
hopes of practicing their own religion without persecution and in search of a fresh start in the New
World. Left and right in England, Puritans and other Protestant religions faced discrimination by royal
authorities, and they were determined to have a place where they were free to worship how they
pleased. Still others saw this opportunity as a way to rise economically. Eventually, as new charters
were issued and an increasing amount of people began to arrive and settle, the original thirteen
colonies were formed, the last established in the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
In New England, due to the surrounding terrain and poor weather of New England, people lived in
tight knit towns, shortening the traveling distance in times of hazardous conditions and relying on
each other for different services. There was a heavy Puritan presence, and in these towns, the church
often lay in the middle, easily accessible and central to people s lives. In the start, the Puritans
envisioned what lawyer John Winthrop had called a city on a hill from which they would spread
religious righteousness. However, this passion was somewhat diluted over time as the population rose
and education became more widespread among New England s children. Also, there was a long life
expectancy up to 70 years! which was aided by the healthy climate, which in turn helped lead to more
family stability. However, in the Southern colonies, the same closeness that was apparent in the North
wasn t present. Due to the fact that many men died young in the south, women were often left to tend
to families on their own. Especially in the Chesapeake bay, many women bore children out of
wedlock. This gender disparity even led to a level of property rights for women during the time,
whereas in the north, that was usually not the case. Towns and cities took a long time to form due to
the sheer space available, and the spaces between plantations meant that schools and churches were
expensive projects. And while the southern colonists were religious as well, leaning more towards the
Anglican church, it was a less central aspect of their lives. On top of all of this, the agricultural
economy of the south led to a tightening grip on a heavily classed society. Slaves were considered the
lowest of low, while the previously mentioned aristocrats, plantation owners, and merchants at the top
held a considerable amount of

important events like, finding the tunnels to a secret lab and almost getting run over by two bikers.
One of the most important events in this book was when he escaped the Psysalia Psysalia s tank after
being trapped in there cause of Nadia Vole . Without escaping the tank he would have never destroyed

Television s Perception Of Zombies
When I think of zombies, I immediately think of the dead still decaying from years of being buried.
They slowly emerge from the grave, and stumble upon their steps as they learn to walk again. It spite
of their slow amble, they somehow manage to lively break into a song and dance lead by the zombie
king himself, Michael Jackson. Ok, so perhaps, that was Jackson s perception of zombies; it does not
negate the fact that they possess no intellectual capacity to critically think for themselves.
Additionally, they are violent and aggressive and will attack anyone who crosses their path. Although
all characters and events [in the video] are fictitious , the epidemic that has infected nearly millions of
people worldwide is real. This contagion is called television (or the media) and it has caused indelible
damage. Television has not only taken control of our bodies and our intellects, but has taken over our
personalities as well. Let s face it; TV has turned us into zombies.
There was a time people relied on conversation or the great outdoors as a form of entertainment.
Before Television invaded our homes, families sat together and ate dinner; they told ghost stories and
danced around the fireplace to Pa s fiddle. They took longs walks down the prairie and were
physically active. Sure that could have been the life of Charles and Caroline Ingalls. However,
because they didn t have television, they were actively involved in their children s lives. Laura and
Mary would often go for a

The Importance Of The First Opium War In China
When India brought opium to China, India was put into a whole lot of trouble. Since opium is very
addictive, it was hard to stop using this product just the same as using marijuana or tobacco. The
Chinese Emperor was furious with the British for getting a majority of the Chinese people hooked
onto opium, so this resulted in the Opium Wars. These wars were fought against Britain and China,
and became a big problem for the Chinese. The trade of opium was just as big as the tea trade the
estimated amount of addicts was about 10 million. Foreign merchants were confronted and forced to
surrender because of these sales, but China could not keep the British out. Regardless of any rules that
were passed, people would still continue to buy and sell opium. ... Show more content on

This peace treaty was signed years after the first war took place. It stated that China had to give away
the island of Hong Kong. Now, keep in mind, the Chinese are already drastically failing. They are
hooked on opium and destroyed. Foreign rulers began to use this to their advantage, and claim ports of
their own. The British continued to take more and more land away from China, leaving them broken

  • 2. My First Impression Of Bafa Bafa After Hearing The Rules Bafa Bafa Reflection My first impression of Bafa Bafa after hearing the rules was that it would be an enjoyable class activity. Little did I know, that the activity would go much deeper than just being a class activity. Bafa Bafa simulates the human interactions in the world as we know it. It teaches a lesson of diversities and miscommunications between them. It permits everyone and anyone to experience the notion of being foreign or an outcast . In Bafa Bafa, I was a part of the Alpha culture. In order to collaborate with my classmates, I had to dim my strong feminist attitude in order to play along in the patriarch culture. I wasn t particularly phased by the close proximity and close contact interactions as these were already engrained in me. I quickly realized that a connection was forming between the students that were forming the Alpha culture. Whether this was due to close interactions or passion of playing an act, I do not know, but the feeling of membership was strong and present. The rules were even well tolerated and respected, as no deviants were actually really present in the group. I was observing and becoming part of an in group mentality as referred to in Psychology. I was an Alpha and by God, I will play this game well and right to be a really good Alpha. My mentality went from being a class member of EDU 150 to being a member of culture Alpha. I also noticed a change in regards to culture Beta, my other classmates from EDU 150. When presented at ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 3. The Dangers Of Cell Phone Use While Driving Introduction In the United States, there are many states and cities that have passed laws where individuals should not use hand held phones or text while driving, however, none of these laws actually restricts a person from using a phone while driving. The National Safety Council reported that each year an estimated of 1.6 million car crashes are due to people using their cell phones while driving (Texting and Driving Accident Statistics, 2017). One of the biggest reasons that car accidents occurs is because the driver was not paying attention to the road and the things around them. There are many things that can distract a person while they are driving, such as; using the navigation, eating, drinking, playing with the radio, talking on the phone, and even texting. In a single day, approximately 660,000 drivers habitually use their cell phone while they are driving (Texting and Driving Accident Statistics, 2017). This is why the nonprofit organization known as FocusDriven, has been so devoted and passionate about banning the use of cell phones while driving and fighting to make it be illegal and unacceptable in the eyes of the law. As an advocate, this paper is a policy proposal which includes research studies showing data that supports why cell phone use while driving should be banned and possible solutions to take the necessary steps in order to prevent drivers from becoming distracted and hopefully reducing the number of car crashes and fatalities caused by cell ... • 4. The Power Of The Dog Rudyard Kipling Many dog owners would agree that there are many benefits to having a dog in their life. Throughout time there have been multiple works of creativity that expresses the multiple benefits and risks of owning a dog. One poem, in particular by Rudyard Kipling titled The Power of the Dog (Rudyard Kipling)explains a sentiment that most pet owners would agree with. Kipling explains his attitude of being able to have owned a dog in his life and the effect that having a addition to your life in the form of a dog. Kipling s strong sense of emotion and passion truly drives his need of choosing to write this piece. The reader follows through with a strong sense of sympathy for the hurt that Kipling chose to express in this work. Rudyard Kipling was an Indian poet who was born into a family of wealth and prosperity in 1865. He was later sent to live in England when he was five years old to live with a foster family. He did not enjoy his living arrangement in his foster home and the experiences that he went through helped to give him inspiration later on in life in his writings. He later went to college at the age of 12. He is well known in the world of poetry for his use of descriptive imagery and relatability. (Kipling Society) Kipling won the Nobel Prize for literature in 1907.Shortly after his death in 1936, his work began a slow decline of being neglected due to his unpopular political views that were very present in his multiple works. (Poetry Foundation) In this poem, in particular, Kipling explains that Buy a pup and your money will buy,/ Love unflinching that cannot lie. (Kipling 7 8) this piece of art can be interpreted in very few ways. The common understanding after reading this poem is that dogs are loyal to humans as long as the humans are loyal to them. The golden rule: do onto others as you would like to be done to you, comes into full effect or correlation with Kipling s ideas in this work. He goes on to explain the hardships that may follow when a family loses a dog in their lifetime. He writes that When the fourteen years which nature permits Are closing in asthma, or tumour, or fits And the vet s unspoken prescription runs To lethal chambers or loaded guns, Then you will find it s your own ... Political Economy and the Propaganda Model of Noam Chomsky Using one of the case studies outlined by Chomsky amp; Herman in Manufacturing Consent The Political Economy of the Mass Media , critically assess the main propositions put forward in their analysis of the mass media. Is the Propaganda Model still relevant today? Noam Chomsky along with Edward Herman has developed the Propaganda Model of the media works. They helped develop the detailed and sophisticated analysis of how the wealthy and powerful use the media to propagandise their own interests behind a mask of objective news reporting. • 6. Drug Use In The 1960s Essay The 1960s were infamous for illegal drug use; hippies smoked marijuana, people in the ghettos used heroin, it seemed as if everyone was doing drugs. As the newly elected president, John F. Kennedy had high hopes in solving many of the nation s problems. Many Americans saw themselves standing on the rise of a golden age at the start of the decade. However, the 1960s became an era of political unrest, and it seemed the country was falling apart by the end of the decade. The utilization of drugs became part of the counterculture and social uprising. Drug usage during the 1960s contributed to the turmoil of the era due to the ease of access, the motivation for usage, and the prevalence of it in the counterculture. At the time, drugs were popular, and they could be easily accessed by anyone. Through the course of the decade, lysergic acid diethylamide (LSD) was not illegal, so people got in no trouble for using it. Drugs like LSD were dosed to people for experiments and researching purposes ( 1960 1944. 11). Because it was not illegal, many people used it. It was used for medical purposes by the hippies, and a hallucinogen activist, like Timothy Leary, used it to study psychology. He even became famous for it and was known as LSD guru. There was no authority over the drugs, so people were able to use it freely. Another problem with having unrestricted drugs led to doctors prescribing non FDA approved drugs to patients. • 7. Physical Beauty Vs Inner Beauty Beauty can be defined in multiple diverse ways. To each person beauty is perceived in their own way. Beauty can be broken down into two categories: physical beauty and inner beauty. Physical beauty is the appearance of an individual. Society today has placed physical beauty on a very high pedestal. Now teenagers focus so much of their lives trying to be physically beautiful to amount to what the world or society says they should be, instead of focusing on their inner beauty. Inner beauty is the attitude or personality of an individual. Inner beauty has been pushed to the curb so that one may reach their full potential of physical beauty. To some individuals, physical beauty may be more important, but to others inner beauty becomes the standard of being beautiful. Although physical beauty and inner beauty may seem similar they are in fact quite different in ways such as the definition, qualities, and effects on society. The definition of beauty varies from person to person. Dictionary.com defines beauty as, the quality present in a thing or person that gives intense pleasure or deep satisfaction to the mind, whether arising from sensory manifestations (as shape, color, sound, etc.), a meaningful design or pattern, or something else (as a personality in which high spiritual qualities are manifest). This definition may also help an individual understand that there are two types of beauty, physical beauty and inner beauty. Some individuals may not realize that there ... • 8. The Federal Reserve And Central Banking System Edith Deras Fraijo Mr. Lauer Economics November 9, 2015 The Federal Reserve The Federal Reserve is the main banking system in the United States. It has 12 regional banks around the nation, its headquarters being located in Washington DC. The Federal Reserve (better known as the Fed) was established in 1913 by Congress in order to provide the nation with a safer, more flexible, and more stable monetary and financial system (federalreserve.gov). Although the Fed was created over a century ago, it is still a major influence in the banking systems today. The concept alone of a central banking system has been around long before the Federal Reserve Act of 1913 was passed. In 1791, Treasury Secretary Alexander Hamilton encouraged Congress to create the First Bank of the United States. Several Americans opposed of it, as they felt somewhat uncomfortable of one bank having all the power. After the bank s 20 year term in 1811, Congress decided not to renew it by merely one vote. Afterwards there have been multiple other attempts to create a central bank, but they have never succeeded in the long run. That is until The Federal Reserve Act of 1913. President Woodrow Wilson was the one who passed the famous Federal Reserve Act of 1913. If it had not been for the passing of this law, the United States may have never had a central bank, which is a vital part of our economy. The Fed is the thing that fixes our economy. • 9. The Iraq Iran War And State Security The Iraq Iran War and State Security With Iraq initiating the conflict, with its declaration of war on September 22, 1980 and the subsequent invasion of the Khuzestan province, they will be treated as the aggressor. Therefore the theoretical framework will revolve predominantly around Iraq. With this Posen s components of the security dilemma will be used as the building blocks for state security s explanation of the conflict, beginning with the indistinguishability of offense and defense. As previously stated, determining the motives or intentions of states are difficult and near impossible to do with any certainty. Iraq would make their intentions known with the psychological and material actions of the Ba athist party and Saddam Hussein. It is important to once again look briefly look at previous actions to attempt a dissection. From 1974 1978 the Kurds in Northern Iraq were revolting against Ba athist rule, as they were being terrorized and displaced during the military crackdown. Despite Iran s inability to determine the motivation behind Iraq s actions, and the potential effect on their state, they decide to take action. The attacks on the Kurds were viewed as an attempt at a power build up, through their attempt to push Kurds out of Iraq into lower Iran. Iran viewed this as an attempt to strain their government and resources with the forced exile of an unwanted faction of their country. In an attempt to protect their interests and procure a secure state, Iran sends ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 10. Love Stories In Disney Since 1937, Disney films have been ruining the lives of children. From ideas like raising the dead with love or receiving advice from talking animals. Disney is turning society into idiots. The corporation, Disney manipulates children into gullible idiots through their own imaginations with unrealistic love stories, absences of science and morals of good versus evil. Although love is seen as ideal in society, Disney has warped it into a classic boy saves girl. This is a universal theme for most classic Disney films such as Cinderella, Rapunzel, Snow White, etc. Moreover, Disney has used saving damsels in distress to captivate its audience. Thus creating these unimaginable love stories. For example, a prince searches for the maiden Cinderella after she drops her glass slipper (Cinderella). In normal society men would hardly go to such extents. However, Disney has yet to dabble in the art of same sex love stories, still they feel beastility works. Hence The Beauty and the Beast. These ideas have been ruining how women, especially little girls see their happy ever after. Disney s love stories always carry some magic element to them thus making them even more unrealistic. Often in Disney films, the use of magic is emphasised to add to the plot line, such as genies, fairy godmothers, shapeshifting, true love s kiss, and so on. Magic takes the science out of the film thus making the children watching, have overly complex imaginations that do not fit reality. They will ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Courage Is The Preservation Of A Moral Knowledge Todd Link Lieutenant Colonel Uhl Philosophy 310 13 September 2015 Knowledge is Power...and Apparently Knowledge is Courage Too We can t do it... We re gonna be in the Hudson. These were Captain Chesley B. Sully Sullenberger s unforgettable words on 15 January 2009, just minutes before he miraculously landed US Airways Flight 1549 in the Hudson River after losing both engines due to multiple bird strikes two minutes after takeoff (US). Due to the extensive training, considerable flying time, and the experience as a glider pilot held by Sully, many today would claim that Sully was not courageous but rather experienced and prepared. For these exact same reasons, however, Socrates would vigorously proclaim Sully s courage. To Socrates, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The interesting part about Socrates definition is that it hinges on knowledge. Socrates would not call a child who is deathly afraid of heights yet still climbs a stable platform courageous. By Socrates definition of courage, one must understand what is worthy of apprehension this understanding is gained through wisdom. Socrates attributes courage to the component of the human being he labels the spirit, but he links courage to wisdom. When the spirit preserves through pains and pleasures the pronouncements of reason about what should inspire terror and what should not, the individual would be deemed courageous (442b13 c3). It is important to note that those pronouncements stem from wisdom without the wisdom to correctly judge things as worthy of terror or not, courage is impossible. The kind of wisdom Socrates associates with courage knows what things should be feared and what things should be faced with confidence. Jumping in front of a train to save somebody can wisely be faced with confidence because the cause is just. The emphasis is on what the person risks compared to what that person is aiming at, what is more noble. The wisdom and knowledge associated with wisdom are oriented about that comparison. Socrates states it is imperative that one s correct beliefs of what should and should not inspire terror must be unwavering unaffected by pleasures, pains, appetites, or fears (429c12 13). This introduces a subtle element of Socrates definition of courage: ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 16. The Security Environment That Is Shaping The Joint Force... The security environment that is shaping the Joint Force 2025 (JF25) is incredibly complex and rapidly evolving. Challengers to security and stability include two aggressive competing powers (China and Russia), two nuclear capable regional hegemons (North Korea and Iran), and a persistent threat of terrorism to the homeland. The global commons are contested and access to the space and cyber domains are no longer guaranteed. Fiscal constraints limit the available means for the Joint Force (JF) to meet these challenges and therefore increases risk to accomplishing the national military objectives. Despite the complexity of this environment and fiscal austerity, the JF25 must protect our Nation and win our wars. It must deter and defeat state adversaries, disrupt and defeat terrorist organizations, and strengthen the global network of allies and partners. The prioritized capabilities required for Joint Force 2025 are linked to the imperatives of securing the homeland and maintaining strategic agility. This essay discusses general attributes of the JF, specific capability requirements by service, and the risk associated with focusing the rebalance on these two imperatives. Strategic guidance on the general attributes of JF25 is provided in the Quadrennial Defense Review (QDR) and National Military Strategy (NMS). Diabetes occurs when there is impaired ability by the pancreas to produce enough insulin, or the body loses its ability to utilize the insulin produced by pancreas effectively. Consequently, the body fails to regulate the level of glucose in the blood. The failure to control glucose leads to episodes of hyperglycemia, especially after a meal. Diabetes is one of the chronic conditions that account for the largest morbidity rates globally. According to the Centres for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) (2015), approximately 29.1 million people living in the United States had diabetes. Out of this number, about 21.0 million people were diagnosed. The remaining 8.1 million cases were undiagnosed. According to the World Health Organization (2016), the prevalence of diabetes among adults aged over 18 years was 8.5% in 2014. The prevalence had increased from 4.7% in 1980 to 8.5% in 2014. The increased has been most significant among the middle and low income countries. This has mostly been explained by the changes in income distribution in those countries. In other words, the proportion of people who have had an increase of revenue has increased significantly in the middle and low income countries. People with diabetes lack the ability to regulate the level of glucose in the blood. Consequently, whenever they eat, their blood glucose level rises above the normal maximum limit leading to hyperglycemia. Poorly controlled ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Rape And Sexual Assault In Game Of Thrones The use of rape and sexual assault as a dramatic plot device in contemporary film and television can turn out to be either highly successful or highly problematic for those involved and their viewers. With seemingly no direct link to the story being told or effect on what follows after. Similarly, Game of Thrones has suffered mass criticism since it s premier back in 2011. However, the writers of GOT still vehemently defend their choice of representation of rape and sexual assault crimes, stating that it is, and was, a part of everyday life back in medieval times. Comparing these small screen representations to those on the silver screen, it could be surmised that rape and sexual assault in film is a more thought out process. Place thinks some philosophers struggle to accept a scientific theory by falling for the phenomenological fallacy. Some have posited descriptions of experience lye within the mental cinema (pg. 49). Place characterized the fallacy of thinking that when we perceive something green we are perceiving something green in the mind as the phenomenological fallacy . He writes, if we assume, for example, that when a subject reports a green after image he is asserting the occurrence inside himself of an object which is literally green, it is clear that we have on our hands an entity for which there is no place in the world of physics. He proposes the descriptions of green after images are descriptions of a sort of normal response in contexts involving green light. I am a country preacher, and although I have a wealth of formal education and training, I continue to grow and evolve daily, as a person, and as a minister. When asked what he believed are the advantages/disadvantages of being a servant leader, Renfro responded, a strength and advantage would be to possess a non judgmental presence, to allow people to be the who, what, and where they need to be in our encounters; the disadvantage in that is some people might consider this position as too indeterminate, lacking in absolutes. Renfro commented on the partnerships he has forged in his life of servant leadership, starting with being a Clinical Pastor Supervisor (certified to teach at the graduate level), a Diplomate of the College of Pastoral Supervision, a nationally certified Professional Chaplain by the Association of Professional Chaplains, and also an Ordained Bishop in the Church of ... In the start, the Puritans envisioned what lawyer John Winthrop had called a city on a hill from which they would spread religious righteousness. However, this passion was somewhat diluted over time as the population rose and education became more widespread among New England s children. Also, there was a long life expectancy up to 70 years! which was aided by the healthy climate, which in turn helped lead to more family stability. However, in the Southern colonies, the same closeness that was apparent in the North wasn t present. Due to the fact that many men died young in the south, women were often left to tend to families on their own. Especially in the Chesapeake bay, many women bore children out of wedlock. This gender disparity even led to a level of property rights for women during the time, whereas in the north, that was usually not the case. Towns and cities took a long time to form due to the sheer space available, and the spaces between plantations meant that schools and churches were expensive projects.
